When I tell you, this is the best pizza I have had in almost ever, I really mean it! I ordered the Lonestar and added Jalapeños and was pleasantly surprised that they were fresh jalapeños and not the canned kind. But all of the toppings were fresh and the cheese was cooked perfectly. NO! Small, crowded (not with just ppl, but chairs & other misc items taking up the already limited space). We ordered, other ppl after us ordered, and let me put this out there, me & my wife are both non-Caucasian in appearance, so don't turn this into a race thing. An eco-friendly restaurant might support the ideals of conservation and protecting our natural resources like rivers and lakes. Promise Pizza exemplified these ideals! The toppings on our pies were so sparse that they couldn't even be tasted. Score one for conservation. Secondly, a gluey river of dense and chewy cheese dominated the entire eco-system of the pizza. So, there's your river right there. We were a glass or two into a lovely zinfandel (Seghesio), so we hungrily soldiered through these toothsome pies. They weren't awful, but I'm not excited about facing off with that rubbery cheese any time soon. There are better options in town. read more

Randomly driving around (yes, wasting gas, not eco friendly, whooped de do!) today wondering what to do for lunch. I decided I wanted a pizza for lunch so I had heard about the new eco-friendly pizza place called Promise Pizza. So I slithered on over to give them a try. First we have organic hamburger places now a pizza place. The first thing I saw were the little smart cars they use for delivery, very eco-friendly. I reviewed their menu and ordered a medium pizza with my three favorite ingredients: hamburger, onion and tomato. Yes I ordered my hamburger pizza. The medium pizza is 10 inches in diameter and it took about 12 minutes to arrive. As mentioned in other reviews the soda had real sugar in any of their flavors, I don't know if it was Mexican coke but it could be close. The toppings were very fresh and tasted very good. I noticed a sweet flavor which turned out to be the sugar they add to their sauce to reduce the tart taste. Overall the pizza was good. The sugar taste threw me off a little, never tasted it before in a pizza. My cost with a soda was just less than $13. A little high for a medium pizza I think a medium pizza at other pizza places run about 12 inches instead of 10 inches. The inside was painted in forest green (ceiling), lime green, orange and brown for the walls. All colors that fit into the natural color scheme. The were about 6 small tables and tall bar style metal chairs running along the interior windows with a small table top lining the window to sit and eat your lunch and look outside. The service was excellent and the owner stopped by my table and introduced himself which was a nice touch. The basic question for me is did it taste any better than other good pizza restaurants with non organic ingredients? No for me it didn't. Not sure how others will perceive it. Would I go back? Honestly, I'd rather eat my own homemade vegan pizza. It tastes twenty-three times better, has more toppings, and is much cheaper. I had such high hopes for Promise, too, but in the end, they didn't deliver. We ordered a large Nature's Choice pizza on thin, wheat crust with vegan cheese ($16.95), stuffed mushrooms ($3.95 for 8), and a fountain drink ($1.95). The best thing we ordered was the fountain drink since all of the options are all-natural and use sugar cane as the sweetener. We tried the root beer, ginger ale, lemonade, and orange soda. All of them were tasty except for orange soda, which had no taste at all (only the distinct orange color). The pizza was so-so: I devoured almost half because I was just so hungry, not because it was delicious. (Love for the wrong reasons is still wrong.) And although I asked them to convert the pig-stuffed mushrooms to a vegan-friendly version, I should have just skipped ordering them altogether since they just melted down a bunch of vegan cheese into them. This was the first time I had vegan cheese, and I am not a fan. The verdict: Promise's other stuff looked okay, but I'm not planning to drive out to Round Rock every time I want a pizza--not even a vegan pizza. read more

Very pleased with Promise. We have been in a difficult situation pizza wise lately. Husband is gluten free and son can't have anything with tomato. Promised delivered, literally, on both counts. I'm grateful that they also use quality ingredients and not the cheap junky stuff most pizza places do. The pizza was good, as was the service and we will order from them again. As far as gluten free pizza goes, it was a good as any I've had. The regular crust was soft and chewy as it should be. We liked this place so much that we've been twice in the last three weeks, and we live in South Austin. It's so exciting to have a halal pizza place nearby! We're big fans of their pepperoni pizza rolls. We've also tried and liked the alfredo house pizza, spicy tikka pizza, and spicy tikka calzone. The calzone was super cheesy, which I loved. I wasn't a huge fan of the Hawaiian sunset pizza - it didn't have all the flavors I was expecting; maybe the pineapple just wasn't flavorful enough for that batch. I was also disappointed by their Promise fries. I was excited to try their personal seasoning, but we got little to none of it on our order.
