I've been to Providence Bagel three times in the last month and a half or so and each time, I leave annoyed. It seems that they only prioritize helping people in the drive-thru and have zero ability to help customers that actually come into the store. It is the slowest, most ridiculous wait to get just a bagel toasted with cream cheese - can be upwards of 15 minutes for that. I used to be able to go in there, order, and within 5 minutes walk out in hand with a toasted bagel and an ice tea. I don't understand what happened to this company and why it is so hard to be efficient. I keep giving this a chance but I think I'm done. I've been wanting to try this place for a while but haven't gotten the motivation to head down there until I saw they were going to have a rainbow bagel with funfetti cream cheese for 4 days only. I headed down there and arrived around 7:45am on a Friday morning. I was expecting it to be packer with no parking, however I was wrong. There parking lot can easily fit a dozen cars and parking was no problem. I went inside pleased to see lots of bagels (including the coveted rainbow bagel) in the case. The service was fantastic, super friendly and efficient. I waited 5 minutes or less to get my bagel. While I waited I took a seat, there were lots of places to sit while I waited. The bagel was stunning like I dreamed it would have been. Fortunately it wasn't all about the looks with this bagel. The funfetti cream cheese was slightly sweet and complemented the chewy bagels. This time my bagel was perfectly salted and the veggie cream cheese had so many different types of veggies in it (celery carrots and red pepper). It's very simple, if you want a delicious bagel you go to Providence Bagel. Their bagels are large and always fresh. They have special flavored bagels every weekend including my favorite: pizza bagel and they also experiment with different cereals. They also constantly update their Instagram with what is available and whether or not they sold out. Another tasty item on their menu are their buns which are made with the same dough their use for their bagels. Their buns include sweet flavors such as oreo, nutella, or cinnamon bun. They also have savory choices such as spinach and feta, ham and cheese, or pizza. The only complaint I have is that the shop is small and it can be extremely difficult to move around when ordering; however, with their second location opening soon, this problem might become better. read more

I've been making all my own food for the past 11 months, but yesterday I went thought the drive thru at Providence Bagel for the 1st time. I don't know why I waited so long. There was no need to worry. It was fast, it was efficient, and it felt perfectly safe. The person at the window could not have been nicer. The everything bagel with lox spread was delicious. The bagel had the right amount of salt, the lox spread was enough, but not too much, and the bagel had the perfect chewiness. All in all it was a perfect experience! read more

I love the Toaster Tarts at Providence Bagels! I have tried the Vegan Blueberry and Chocolate Chip cookie ones. They are exactly like an adult pop tart with better flavors! I have also had a breakfast-sandwich from there and that was delicious too. I had the sausage egg and cheese on a bagel. The bagels are big and they toast them perfectly. The only negative about this place is the line out on to the street and they do not have any control over that. Well, we inched up to four stars! The last two visits, both times anticipating only the delicious coffee, there have actually been bagels available! What an unexpected treat - it seems that some of the baking issues have been resolved. We also were able to taste more of the varieties that we wanted, although that wasn't the case with the woman in front of us in line. They are still not exactly NY bagels, but they are pretty tasty (if you aren't eating while ticked off about the variety you got served). Regrettably, issues remain with order fulfillment. It still takes substantially longer than it should to get a full order handed to you. One star gone - it shouldn't take 10 minutes from the time you order 2 coffees and one not toasted bagel to get them handed to you, in 2 separate transactions. read more

I am torn what rating to give Providence Bagel, because while their bagels and sandwiches are always yummy, there are some major issues with the order ahead through the app. There are lots of options for customizing your food in the app, but the POS system seems to not print out those selections to the team when they prepare your food- so check your order BEFORE you leave. I have used the app to order ahead ever since Covid hit , about 12 times now, and I have to say that 9 of those times my food has been wrong. Also, keep in mind that they give a time estimate of when your order will be ready... this is a *very* rough estimate. If it says 10-15 minutes, plan on at least 20, even on a slow day. They also recently changed their sausage from a traditional sausage patty (which is pictured in all of their photos on the ordering app) to something kind of sweet?? Not a huge fan, but that's personal preference- I hope they switch back to a more traditional style because I really don't like maple flavor. Just a warning if you're using the photos as a reference, it is not that sausage. They're not bad, but just be on top of your order. read more

I have been going to Providence Bagel for several years. Their bagels are yummy, and good bagels are hard to find in Rhode Island. My struggle recently with Providence Bagel has been the customer service. The last few times I have visited the service has been beyond slow. If you go through the drive thru it seems to be a lot better. Online ordering WILL NOT save you time. I visited this morning, having put my order in at 9am to be picked up at 9:30. I did not leave with my order until 10am. I understand that when a restaurant is busy they can get backed up- what I do not understand is how the staff working in a busy bagel shop seemed to have no sense of urgency while doing their work. The pace at which the staff was working was the slowest I have seen. It was painful watching and wishing I could just jump behind the counter, put my own bagels in a bag and leave. read more

Bagels were good here, but I think the business is still trying to figure out their workflow. When I was there around 10:30 on a Sunday morning, they only had 3 types of bagels available. My friends and I were unable to get the bagels we really wanted and had to settle for what was there. 3 choices for a place that specializes in bagels is a little unacceptable in my opinion. I ordered a regular coffee but they charged me for a cold brew. They then forgot my coffee order and an extra bagel I ordered as well. Updated review! My issues before were not enough toastyness and too much cream cheese but I have learned to just ask for CC on the side and for extra toasted! I love the covid procedures, just order ahead of time and then they're set up alphabetically on a table when you walk in minimizing contact! I miss the friendliness and vibe of a full store but hopeful we'll get that back soon! I have also ordered a large party tray of bagels before and I love this option, it's a cheap great way to rally your troops at work and show they they're appreciated! Be sure to mention you want the bagels sliced as once I didn't specify and they were all uncut. Best bagels in the area as far as I'm concerned! Only thing that could make this store better is parking but, not much you can do about that!!! I am finally receiving my order now at 11:35am. The man next to me had waited over an hour for his order. Make no mistake: the drive thru moves 10x faster than the online pick ups. Even if you ordered day(s) in advance. The crew is cold, careless, and truly shows no organization or emotional intelligence towards the situation. They do not offer discounts, refunds, or any compensation for your order being 50+ minutes late. You are charged as soon as the order is placed and forced to wait. The egg is, as mentioned before, either too thick or burnt and thin. Cream cheese and bagels themselves are great. But are they worth an hour wait, being ignored, and getting an attitude when you ask about your order? Absolutely not. We could have went to a real restaurant, been served, paid and left by the time we received our pre-ordered, pick up bagels. Please look elsewhere, or order your bagel an hour early. Update: Chris (the owner) reached out to me to remedy this, and apologized profusely. He was very kind and offered to refund our order AND give us a $20 gift card for future use. We took him up on his offer, and got our gift card (but NOT the refund). We went back and I got the last cereal one they offered- the fruity pebble bagel- and it was GOOD. We had a much better experience this time around and I'm glad to say. We still have that gift card so I'm excited to see what creations I can get my hands on in the future. :) We love Providence Bagel- mostly for their special bagels they do on the weekends. We make it a point to get here a couple times.. They really are delicious! Today, there was problems with the drive thru- she took our order, only repeated back 2 things, and then we repeated our order another time, and she again repeated 2 items. We confirmed she got everything down & she seemed annoyed. Whatever. We let it go. We got to the window and got our stuff. I always check to make sure everything is ok. So I did that. In the wrapper with the cinnamon sugar bagel with butter that my wife ordered there was some green pesto type thing!! We're very perturbed that PB would use a dirty wrapper like that. Hands down some of the best bagels I've ever had. I drive 30 mins up to providence on the weekends sometimes to get bagels from here and I turn right around and go back home. This day I had the dunkaroo bagel. The bagel was sweet with confetti sprinkles inside. And there were cookie crumbles on the top portion of the bagel. The cream cheese also had rainbow sprinkles throughout. The dunkaroo bagel had such similar flavors to the real deal and nostalgia and loads of sugar courses through my veins for the rest of the morning. I love their bagels so this hurts my heart, but this place is so poorly managed. At least the last 3 times I've ordered online for "ASAP" pick up. I live 20+ minutes away. It has never been less than an hour for pickup. They cannot handle the volume of business, and should not be taking online orders. If you want to wait in the drive through line it's going to be 40 min +. If you want to go inside and order you have to fight through all the angry online orders who have been waiting for an hour and then get to the counter and wait 30+ minutes for you bagel. I am a true blooded NYer at heart so honestly I'm very picky with bagels and judge them very hard honestly. If you have been to NY you would totally understand why. I decided on the spinach bagel with Vegan cream cheese. Extra points for Gryffindor for having non dairy cream cheese. Makes me happy. So that went from 3 to 4 stars. The bagel was actually surprisingly tasty. It was really soft and big. The cream cheese wasn't melted by the time I got home which I love. Yummy bagels at a good price. They always have a ton of fun specials and varieties to choose from. Parking lot is a huge bonus. The space is well-kept and clean and a great spot to enjoy a delicious bagel and some coffee. My favorite is always a blueberry bagel because that's my favorite bagel in general. They're made fresh daily and they're fluffy and chewy and large. They're open mega early which is a bonus for those of us that have to be awake before most places are even open. I have to be at work for 7am so when a business is open early it's nice to have options outside of the chains. They take care in making a good product and they treat their customers well! First time trying Providence Bagel and, for me, it was just ok. I dug their nitro cold brew! The whole wheat everything bagel was pretty decent but the egg inside was overdone and overall the sandwich was a bit dry. I was a little thrown off by the fact that I couldn't order an egg on my bagel through the drive-thru and had to go inside. It was cold outside and HOT in there so I had to keep stepping outside to cool off while waiting for my order. My body can't handle extreme change in temperatures like that. Providence Bagel is really a popular place, but I do think they could improve on some times. I do think that due to the drive-thru, they compromise on quality in some ways. They have a strange cross between a fast food joint and an artisan bakery, betwixt two minds it seems. I wish they would pick one direction - or maybe my desire to get good service inside is my problem, and I need to do the drive-thru more... I did, for example, have to repeat my name a few times to an employee who had his airpods in. So. Effing. Good. Seriously tho. THE BEST bagel I have ever eaten. Hands down. No contest. My fav so far is the fresh salmon lox, chive cream cheese, red onions, tomatoes, capers and spinach on a whole wheat everything bagel. The veggies are fresh and not at all soft or wilted. The salmon is cold and delicious, not fishy smelling. There are actual chives in the chive cream cheese!!! There are several varieties of everything bagels (whole wheat, sesame, Asiago, etc) and the entire bagel is covered in seasonings, salt included. SO YUMMY! Parking is a little tricky during the peak busy times, but not impossible. Drive thru is convenient if you have kids or dogs in the car, but take note: no sandwiches available in the drive thru. They want to keep the line short, understandable. So if you want a complicated or longer order that includes any kind of bagel/bfast sandwich then go inside and enjoy the atmosphere and AC. Seating is comfortable, but maybe a little cramped inside. There are also outside tables in the back near the drive thru. It's nice to sit outside and enjoy the serenity, and not have to stare at the North Main St traffic and panhandlers. (Note: the AC isn't "freeze your tits off" cold. It's actually comfortable!) The staff is pleasant, helpful, and always has a smile. The several times I've been here I have gotten fast and efficient service each time, even with a line of people out the door. Some of the earlier yelp reviews claim wait times in excess of 20 minutes, I have never waited more than 5-6 minutes, even when it's busy. They seem to have better educated their staff on speed and customer service, although I have never seen them be anything other than amazing! I can't speak to the nitro coffee, as I always get half black tea/half lemonade. Perfect blend of sweetness and just a little caffeine. I will absolutely be back, with anyone I can drag along, as often as I can afford to. Gourmet bagels and gourmet coffee= you get what you pay for. A little pricey, but this is premium. They do super inventive flavors like Mozzarella Stick and Macaroni & Cheese as specials but I can't resist their Everything Bagel. They get it right - which means including salt in the seasoning, something I find a lot of bagel shops skip on their everything bagels. They also have a good variety of flavored cream cheeses and a full menu of breakfast and lunch bagel sandwiches, though again I usually go for the classic ham, egg, and American cheese. A few added plusses are that they have excellent cold brew (a feat since I've found that it can be tough to find a place that does both quick breakfast foods and coffee very well), and also have creative pastries if you have a sweet tooth. read more
