Pup Burger with a good size portion of fries.
    Ethan T.

Came here to just grab a drink with my friend last Wednesday but while sitting talking story decided we were actually hungry.. so we ordered this was my first time grabbing food from here usually we just grab a beer. I got the pub burger and it was pretty killer, simple 2 smash patties with the typical accoutrements lettuce onion tomato and cheese. Portion size was fairly bigger then I was expecting and again it was simple but delicious. Probably one of the best burgers I've had maybe it was because I was hungry ‍ My friend got the Kalua pig tacos and he mowed them down but he did say they were really good also. Choice of beers on tap are good there's something for everyone even cider if you're not a beer drinker. Service was friendly we dealt directly with the chef and he even gave us a rundown on specials up coming for the next day and the weekend. Overall the place is chill they have sports games on the tvs if you're into that they also have board games you can play like uno, battleship, connect 4 etc. Definitely plan on coming back and grabbing some specials and also I wanna try the fish and chips.

This is the server with her back towards us ignoring us and socializing and eating with her friends!

Puka's was a place where I used to go for pau Hana with my friends. It was also a cool spot with the friendliest staff! Today is January 6, 2024 I went in with my friend at 3:30pm! When I came in we weren't greeted as we usually were accustomed to! The young woman server made it seem like it was a problem for us to be in there! She said you order from the bar with the most privileged dirty attitude! We wanted to order food and she said all we have is wings and burgers, so then I said that's fine can we get wings and burgers, she rolled her eyes at us and walked away! We weren't offered any water or anything! She continued to talk to her 2 friends that were at the bar and laugh and just socialize! When she finally brought the food out I asked for water and plates and she rolled her eyes again! Finally when she brought out the plates and water I kept saying thank you , and she didn't respond ! Very rude attitude ~ she didn't check up on us if we needed anything and didn't bother to check if we needed water refills! Frankly we could've left without paying and she still wouldn't have noticed! She continued on with her friends and was even eating wings ignoring everyone! She disappeared to the back and I had to cash out with the cook! This type of service is going to ruin your restaurant! This server should be fired! There is no aloha spirit when she is working! And because I'm in the service industry I still tipped! Everyone has to work to eat right? I will never come back to this place anymore! The ambiance just got ruined for me! A Japanese couple came in confused and she ignored them and they left, and 2 women that ordered beers from the bar she rolled her eyes at them! This is a picture of the back of her head just socializing and eating with her friends at the bar! Absolutely disgusting attitude can really mess up your business!

We stopped by to eat some pupus and have drinks. It was Tuesday so they had tacos & draft for $13. Drafts are around $7 and tacos are $11 ($14 for fish tacos) so $13 is a good deal. My husband and I shared Kalua Tacos, chicken wings, and chicken strips & fries. All tasted pretty good. There are so many beer choices. Around 15 beers. There are counter type seatings and few tables inside. I like the counter seat where I can look outside. Not sure what days but they had trivia night. We didn't play but sounded fun. We went there around 5pm so it wasn't crowded yet. But when we were leaving around 6pm, most of the seats were occupied.

It's been over a year since I've been here. Order at the counter, pay and pickup your own food at the counter cafeteria style. So glad this place is still open. The cauliflower nachos were on point (larger pieces of cauliflower- needed to cut them in half). I tried the Beyond Burger. Served the same as the Pub Burger. And to me, tastes just as good. We were told the cheddar cheese is vegan, which I wouldn't have guessed except for the fact it didn't melt even after being under the salamander. The flavor isn't the same as real cheddar but when mixed with the brioche bun, patty, veg and spread it's literally still so delicious.

Bf and I came here for dinner tonight. We ordered the salmon salad, cauliflower nachos, chicken wings, and $3 Heineken beer. All the food was very yummy and delicious. The prices can't be beat. $3 beers (Heineken, longboard, Sapporo) on Sundays. My salmon salad had a good piece of salmon on a piece of green beans, sauteed tiny potatoes, hard boiled egg, mixed greens with kalamata olives, tomatoes, tossed with balsamic vinegar for $12. The salad was very fresh. The dressing with the kalamata olives were perfect. Plus the moist grilled salmon on a bed of green beans. Dozen traditional tossed organic chicken wings for $13. The chicken was very crispy and juicy. Awesome cauliflower nachos topped with avocado crema $12. Highly recommend. The flavor together were sooo Ono. Everything was very tasty, fresh and made to order. Plus the NFL game playing. Good to be in a non crowded AC restaurant. The staff were all very nice and helpful. We definitely will be back!

The takeout at this place is horrible I ordered here twice just a burger and fries nothing crazy, asked for the quoted time I should strive, waited that time to come, and I still had to wait 15 minutes for my order after I had arrived to their establishment. I called another time wanted to get cauliflower nachos 30 minutes before closing and they told me that their kitchen was closed. WTF, that's terrible customer service. There is nothing worse then a lazy kitchen and that's their primary job. I could see if I called 5 minutes before closing, but 30 fkn minutes. C'mon! I'm not even going to try and eat inside because if this is how the takeout is then I can only imagine how the service is inside. It isn't even worth trying to find parking either This is unacceptable customer service and I hope they do better or train their employees better because that's complete bullsh*t! Don't go here, not worth your time they don't care about their customers.

Hmm Here's another review on behalf of my pooches! I came here to order off the dog menu since I wandered past this store one day and noticed a menu with a huge dog face on it. They offer either bacon, hamburger or hot dog and it's all under $5 each item. I opted for the 2 hamburgers for $5 and it was hot off the grill in 15 mins! The set up is kinda confusing. I was actually looking for a register so I just walked through the entire restaurant. It looks like you can just seat yourself but a kind man helped me and gave me a lunch menu. I kindly refused it and asked for the dog menu. Lol. It also looked like they had daily specials on the board behind the bar. I asked how do people order if they have their dog and there is no dogs allowed signs everywhere?! They said it was ok if you're just coming in to place a order but I guess people take advantage. However, you could totally enjoy the outdoor seating with your pup. It was still nice and hot when I got home and my pooches scarfed them up! I honestly could probably make it myself but what a nice treat for them to have. I'll probably go back again and try human items. Lol

We ate outside right in front of the establishment because we had a stroller and inside is very small with high top chairs. It was nice out with live music. We ordered the fish and pork tacos! The pork taco was nice and juicy!! Fish taco was okay.. We also got the cauliflower nachos. It was nice and crispy. The topping and sauce brought the dish to life. Overall, a fair experience.

We stopped by on Labor Day to have a few tasters after shopping at some shops at Kahala Mall. They have a nice selection of craft beers and it was nice to sit at the bar and enjoy them. We had a challenge finding parking at the mall on a holiday, so I'm sure this place gets quite busy at Happy Hour during the week. However, if you're in the area and not in a rush, this is a great spot to meet friends for drinks and pupus.

setting the bar high? I stopped here last week (for the first time) after watching a movie at the Kahala Theatres. The wait time at our first choice was unspeakably long and bordering on unacceptable. We decided to grab a drink here while we contemplated dinner.....and actually just ended up grabbing drinks AND food at Puka's. LOCATION/SETTING: Whole Foods at Kahala Mall. Ample parking available at the mall. For those of your familiar with the mall, Puka's now occupies the former Cinnabon space. And to be brutally honest, its not that big. Seating is regulated to the bar, a communal table in the center (main area), and tables placed along the corridor that connects Puka's to the main Whole Foods store. NOTE: Happy hour is Monday to Friday, 400-600pm. Select wines $6, select IPA draft beer $5, and one small plate (Roasted Brussells Sprouts) $5. There is a daily weekday special that includes an entree and beer; specials differ from day to day. FOOD/DRINKS: Unfortunately, happy hour had lapsed by the time we sat at the bar at about 745pm (the bar closes at 9pm). Food selections include sushi, small plates, salads, fish and chips, and two types of burgers. To quench one's "thirst", the choices are beer, wine, and signature cocktails. I ordered a Kahala Mule (no doubt their version of a Moscow Mule), and my dining companion and I shared the Salmon Avocado Roll, the Spicy Crab Meat California Roll (two orders), and the Charred Green Chile Guac & Cabo Chips. The food is just ok IMO. If I was forced to chose a "favorite", I would say I liked the California Roll the most. SERVICE: Satisfactory. We sat at the bar, and I felt the bartender attended to us in a timely manner. No complaints. BOTTOM LINE: If you need a break from shopping, or just need a drink, drop by Puka's. Its too bad there aren't more food choices on the menu.

Fish and chips with truffle fries, cauliflower nachos, and salmon Cobb salad.

    Ask the Community - Puka's

    Can YOu Tip?

Yes. Their systems broke like 6 months ago and management hasn't fixed it. They can only take cash tips for now. Hard to believe Whole Foods and amazon can't fix it but I always bring $10 cash to tip.

Are you able to buy drinks from puka's or whole foods and drink it outside?

I apologize for the delayed answer. If you purchase drinks from the outside Puka bar you can drink outside in a specified area. However, you cannot buy drinks in the store and take them outside. Thank you!

The progression of dishes felt thoughtful and creative-- * Crispy Salt & Vinegar Chicken Skin (the perfect starter crunch) * Soupe de Poisson (deep, comforting flavors) * Pina Colada Granita (a refreshing palate cleanser) * Pan Seared Scallops (my personal favorite--perfectly caramelized and tender) * Double Cut Rack of Lamb (succulent and cooked to perfection) * Lemon Crème Brûlée Tart (a sweet, bright finish) Every plate was elegant, well-executed, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere strikes a balance between sophisticated and welcoming. Dim lighting, intimate tables, and quiet elegance make you feel like you've stepped into a hidden gem in the middle of Kaimuki. Honestly, I felt like a celebrity dining here. Service was polished but never pretentious--our server was attentive, knowledgeable about the courses, and kept the pacing of the meal just right. For the level of creativity and execution, Carte Blanche feels like an affordable luxury in Honolulu's dining scene. Perfect for anniversaries, date nights, or anytime you want an elevated experience without flying to the mainland. Highly recommend booking a reservation--you'll want to savor every moment here.

From the warmest hospitality to the best food we had in Honolulu, XO completely exceeded our expectations. We only wish we had a restaurant like this back home in Chicago. Every dish was memorable. The Hamachi Crudo was the best we had on the island, fresh, vibrant, and perfectly citrusy balanced. The fried chicken absolutely lived up to the hype and then some. My personal favorite was the perfectly seared scallop with crusted shrimp, an unforgettable combination. My husband and I also decided to add the salmon, and we were so glad we did. Every bite was plump, fresh, and beautifully blackened. What truly blew us away was the value. We've been fortunate enough to dine at Alinea and EL Ideas in Chicago, and XO reminded us of what those restaurants might have inspired at a fraction of the price. The level of creativity, execution, and care that goes into every plate is extraordinary, yet the experience is incredibly approachable. We left completely satisfied, already talking about when we could come back. One bonus, if it's your thing! It's currently BYOB while awaiting their liquor license renewal in August, so if you enjoy pairing your own wine or drinks with dinner, take advantage of it while you can. And do not even think about skipping dessert. The Brown Butter Bunny Mochi was the single best sweet bite of our entire trip, even edging out the delicious malasadas we raved about all week. Whether you take an Uber, rent a car, or make the short drive from Waikīkī, it's worth every minute. This is the kind of place locals should be proud of and visitors will never forget. If you want to eat like a local while treating yourself to one of the best meals on the island, XO is the place. Just go!

Seeing all the students on standby feeling nervous but eager to serve was very nostalgic because that was once me. I booked the reservation online for my bf's belated birthday dinner, the site will send you a courtesy email of your booking. I think if you need to change your reservation, you may have to call them. *Location* We went on September 18, 2025 at 6pm for our dinner reservation. Parking is located in Parking lot C, you can also see the location on google maps, but just letting you know there's some stairs to walk up to the building. The dining location temporarily moved to the dining room that's in the cafeteria location, I'm going to assume once renovations are done, its back where it's pinned on google maps. If you're not familiar with KCC please plan ahead so you won't be late. So the ambience is a lot more brighter compared to the original location. The student host greeted us and asked us for our name and we checked in, then the student server assigned to our table escorted us and gave our menus. We had the Mediterranean dinner menu for September 2025 and here's what we ordered: Includes complimentary bread and butter *unlimited refills* Drinks *unlimited refills* -Passion berry iced tea (comes unsweetened) $3 -Butterfly pea iced tea (comes sweetened) $5 Ask for 'simple syrup' to sweeten your teas Appetizer -2x Brie Stuffed Arancini Entree -Beef Wellington $48 -Duck Confit $42 Dessert -Hojicha chocolate miso caramel black sesame bar -Pistachio white chocolate custard Bill total= $98 (no tipping allowed since it's a school) The entree price covers all of the appetizer and dessert prices, the drinks are a separate charge. The passion berry iced tea was refreshing, it's unsweetened so I added some simple syrup to have some sweetness. The Butterfly pea iced tea comes in the color blue but it will turn purple when you squeeze the lemon. The drink tastes good but it was way too sweet like i was drinking a whole glass of simple syrup. I had to add water and squeeze a lot of lemons to dilute the sweetness so I feel like they should've left the Butterfly pea iced tea unsweetened so we can control the sweetness. We both got the Brie Stuffed Arancini for our appetizer. When you bite into the Brie Stuffed Arancini it was crunchy on the outside and super cheesy in the inside. As for our entree, my boyfriend didn't really like the Duck Confict, he said it was very oily and buttery but I enjoyed my Beef Wellington though! Loved the crisp breading around the beef and had delicious onion filled stuffing inside the Beef Wellington. I forgot to take a picture of the dessert menu but the Hojicha chocolate miso caramel black sesame bar was super delicious, all the flavors really complimented with each other well. The Pistachio white chocolate custard was okay, the white chocolate wasn't too sweet but it didn't really standout to me but it's great for those who want a dessert that's not too sweet. FYI, just be aware that reservations might be booked out since food influencers are starting to advertise this place so try your best to get your reservation in. But I do recommend this place if you're looking to experience fine dining but on a budget.

The AC seems to be down and only the fans were working. We ordered little bit of the popular items and a couple of items on their happy hour menu. Boca Rota: The cheesy garlic bread was good. Very cheesy and the bread was nicely toasted. The prime rib however was disappointing. It was very dry and tasted old. We didn't finish the meat. Uncle Bo's Dynamite Shrimp: The shrimp were like those tiny shrimp you would find at a frozen section of a grocery store. The dynamite sauce was pretty good. The parmesan crust gives a little texture to it. Spinach Artichoke Dip: This was not good. This lack any flavor or seasoning. It tasted off. The wonton chips on the side were good. Baked Fresh Fish Mauna Kea: The fish they used was monchong. It was pretty good. The fish was fresh. The baked crust/sauce on the fish was the same as the one used for the dynamite shrimp. The mashed potatoes were very good. Garlicky and flavorful. The two shrimps on top were good. Firm and bouncy, definitely a different type of shrimp than the ones used for the dynamite shrimp. Uncle Bo's Seafood Catch: The linguine pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce they used was a creamy tomato sauce which reminded me of the pan roast sauce. It was very good and tasty. The seafoods were fresh and cooked perfectly. This was our favorite dish. Hobo's: The taro beignets were cooked hot and fresh. Super soft and moist. It goes so well with the vanilla ice cream and their honey sauce. Perfect dessert to end the meal. Overall, some dishes were a hit and a miss. It did lack quality and flavor compared to the last time I visited. The portions were large. Us, with a party of 2, had a lot of leftovers. The service was good. Very friendly.

First things first, park at the Hyatt Centric parking lot. Dining at Basalt gets you three hours of FREE parking. Cautionary statement: Watch the corners as you enter and exit. The lanes are skinny and you have to pay attention. Ok, onto the dinner. We skipped appetizers and went straight for dinner. Prime Rib for me, pasta with shrimp for the gf. Both were on point. The prime rib was seasoned perfectly and the pasta had choke shrimp (see pic) and garlic. To top it off, I got a free slice of chocolate mousse cake with fresh berries. I got a coconut sorbet on the side and the kitchen staff threw in free arare cookies. Which leads me into the most important point I want to make here. The service was awesome. Everyone from the hostess who seated us, to our server Candace, and the two women that served us....all gave great service. They were very nice and treated us great. We are definitely coming back to try their other menu items. Plus if you are kama'aina, you get 10% knocked off the bill. Cheeeeehooooo

They will call to confirm and remind you of the price ($89 per person, half price for 6-10, I believe under 6 are free) and the strict 2 hour seating limit. The restaurant is located in the Prince Hotel near the Waikiki harbor area. You can park in the Prince Hotel paid parking and they will validate you up to 2.5 hours. You have to take some stairs up to the 3rd floor which is where the restaurant is...overlooking the harbor. The entire restaurant is inside. No open windows. When you enter they ask your reservation and promptly seat you. I was told that for Crab legs, Thursday Friday and Saturday are best but especially Thursday and best to pick the 5-7 pm window for best selection. It was busy but not crazy busy. We grabbed our plates and checked out what they had. It's an impressive spread of high quality items. Crab legs were plentiful and very good quality. Prime rib station was carving fresh and they also had a fried pork they were carving too. They had poke, sushi rolls, sashimi, clam linguine, fresh fish filets, shrimp, fried oysters to name a few. Dessert bar had some nice items too, including bread pudding. Plenty of fresh fruits and salads too. The waiters took our drink order as soon as we sat back down. Those who got water received countless refills. The staff is on top of refills of water and taking empty plates. Very classy operation. Well managed. We were so stuffed at the end. We didn't make the full 2 hours. Everything was top notch. Try a little of everything instead of just gorging on crab legs (some will do that no matter what). It's all good! Great selection. Friendly and attentive service. Beautiful location. Highly recommend. And as our friend recommended, "don't eat lunch" before eating there for dinner. Boy was he right!

Atmosphere was upscale but casual, service was good, and the food might be the best we've had in Hawaii. The hamachi sashimi with lilikoi (passion fruit) shoyu sauce and shaved jalapeno was fantastic (but the steamed kanpachi and blistered shishito peppers were also quite good.)

Tables include lounge seating, bar seating, regular tables in the dining room and booths. We were surprised at how busy it was and thoroughly thought our server was great. He was well informed, attentive, eager and pleasant. The food was okay, there were a few hits and some misses. But overall the seafood stood out and the experience was memorable. All the seafood dishes were great - the fish, sashimi, crudo and kanpachi were all perfectly prepared. The lamb was outstanding. The misses included the dry flavorless brussels sprouts and the roasted chicken. Some parts of the chicken were dry and overcooked while other seemed gummy and undercooked. It was a strange cut as well where it appeared to just include the backend of the chicken = the rear and legs? The price point is kind of high, but the atmosphere, service and quality are inline with the focus of the restaurant and its pacing. I would go back but my partner said he wouldn't.
