Decided to give their all you can eat lunch buffet a try just to get a taste for the authenticity of the food. I want to say that I am very much pleased. Got in at about 2 pm on a Friday and found the restaurant to be semi busy. We were greeted right away and told to go straight for the buffet. Everything was flavorful and well seasoned. The only con, if you can consider this a con, is that the food was not as fresh when we arrived. It wasn't so much their fault as they close at 3pm and the tray turnover was just not there that late into lunch. Weekday buffet is $8.95 and the Weekend buffet is $9.95. Make sure you check first because all you see is form the street is, "Buffet $8.95." As you enter, you'll notice the nice decor that they're aiming for which they pull off fairly nice. Good place for a lunch with friends or family. The buffet line starts with rice pudding, salad and some sauces. The buffet was delicious, it comes with the most popular Indian dishes. It's not all spicy, but there are some dishes that are spicy, so choose carefully. At first, you think you can eat a bit of everything but as the naan comes to the table and you start eating, you get very full, very quickly! The service was excellent, they filled up our water glasses every time they were half-full. They are also very nice and friendly. And I must emphasize the fact that they bring fresh naan to your table whenever you run out, my fav! Their specialty is Tandoor oven cooked food and they have vegetarian and non-veg curry. Drawbacks: Location isn't that great unless Riverside decides on gentrifying that area on University & Chicago. One of my favorite places to eat in Riverside!! Excellent food and service! The lunch buffet they have daily is such a great deal! It comes with endless delicious garlic naan too. Yummy!! I usually eat it with lots of chicken tikka masala and rice! *drools* The workers here always make me feel like a valued customer, and they're so patient and kind. When I'm unsure about a dish, they explain to me exactly what it is and encourage me to try to new things! I've also seen them deal with some pretty disrespectful customers. They handle situations very respectfully and don't let rude customers phase them. So impressive! My recommendation is to come to the lunch buffet. You'll end up saving half the amount you'd pay for a dinner service. Also, splurge and try their mango lassi! It's a mango smoothie-esque drink that's DELICIOUS!! What once was hot chicks rice is now punjab palace, So punjab palace has been successful enough to open with a new location, closer to campus for those without a car, or not wanting to deal with the 91 traffic I reviewed my the other one at 4 stars and i keep this location at 4 stars two It's a whole lot more brighter then the one by the tyler mall. and also a whole lot more smaller. The buffet is exactly the same, down to the taste. The service on the other hand, i think they're the same people but being a new location makes them think its a whole new set of people, maybe after a while, the servers more specifically this one guy will calm his tits and stop pointing out what stuff was... it's clearly labeled.... also one thing i wasn't a fan of was when we asked for the check, they asked us how much tip we were going to put on. I thought that was inappropriate. But yet i keep it at 4 stars because who can beat a $10 of indian food and also one thing i didn't know was that you can have buffet to go. This place is delicious! Go to the lunch buffet of you can because they have a delicious array of foods available! The flavors are solid, layered and distinct. When you're finished with the yogurt chicken curry and spicy chicken curry, and after you've had your fill of the crispy tasty naan bread that is sent to your table... I tried to use the take out feature, Eat24, ordering a few minutes before the restaurant opened. When I arrived at my scheduled time it was obvious that my order hadn't gone through. I don't know how Eat24 works exactly but my recommendation is to call the restaurant as soon as you can to be sure they have your order. The restaurant was very apologetic and offered me a free drink while I waited. They also added a nice dessert I discovered after leaving. One of the Indian lunch buffet I've been to. Music and incense smell was a tad strong. The mint chutney is refreshing. Garlic naan is always so fresh, soft, and fragrant. My boyfriend really liked the lamb curry with bone marrow. I enjoyed the chicken tikka masala and the mushroom curry with the cauliflower and potatoes. Customer service is really nice. Whenever my family goes to Riverside, we always stop by this restaurant. It's THAT good. Plus the owners are extremely friendly. So that just adds extra stars. The food is authentic Indian food. It has the right-blend of spices, spicy-ness, salt, and flavor. Oily, but not too oily. I've only eaten their dinner course, but according to my dad the lunch buffet has variety and is recommended. Their lamb is pretty bomb, too, though.. I've gotten take out here for dinner on multiple occasions. Their entrees come with their delicious long grain rice. I usually just get chicken tikka masala (that comes with rice) and some garlic naan! It comes with a good amount of food and feeds my friend and I when we get it for take out. They have a student discount and the cashier will even look out for you and tell you about the discount if you forget! Their customer service is amazing. The staff here are all straight from India--they do not speak the best English!--and that's proof you're eating the real deal. The portions here are generous, and the curries have just the right balance of coconut milk, spice, and vegetable to meat ratio. They even have a boneless Tandoori chicken platter sizzled with grilled onions and bellpeppers. Your fingers don't need to get dirty with it cooked this way, and I'm all about cleanliness and hygiene so it was a big win for me! Let's start with the good: The food is great. Spicy and original indian food. I went for lunch because they have a "all you can eat" special for 9$. Which is not bad for the food. Afraid they weren't going to be many vegetarian options to find out that I was wrong. I had Saag aloo (bit bitter than I remember but still good) and Karhi pakora with rice and naan; and Kheer for dessert. Great stuff. The cooks are indian so you know it's legit. The service was good, the sat me down quickly and gave me naan and water the second I sat down. The bad: actually the only thing is the place. The decorations look like they been recycled from a Chinese restaurant. The place is not 100% clean but it's not too bad. The food might be good but unless you have 9$ to spend... It's not worth it. I used to like this place but it just keeps being disappointing. The last two times the naan was really not good. It was dry and bad chewy. Ok so today I'll order without naan. And they gave me the wrong curry.... ok fine, I will eat it. All their curries are usually good. It was the wrong spice level too. So completely inedible. So third time ordering was not the charm. I used Postmates which makes it even worse because you cannot even really do anything about it. I will not be ordering from them again but I do hope they manage to go back to their former glory. read more

I was pretty hyped for this place based on reviews and also the closeness from the UCR. We decided to go to the lunch buffet and arrived halfway through that period. First, I think for desis, this is a very Americanized Indian restaurant so things are pretty mild and more restaurant generic? Overall the food was decent. They have a lot of options though which is a positive for vegetarians and meat eaters. My favorites were the Palak paneer and daal. And for $11 it seems pretty affordable but here are the issues I have with this restaurant: 1. Service: we waited 15 minutes before getting our naan, as white Americans are given preferential treatment, then we had to go out of our way to ask for another order of naan which took another 40 minutes basically as they were about to close 2. Food stocking: when we had arrived the kheer was empty and it was never refilled, this is one of my favorite desserts so I was bummed! Then a lot of the appetizers weren't properly heated such as the fish and vegetable pakora so it was very unappetizing. 3. Food quality: with the dishes, half were a hit and half were a miss. We really liked the daal, tandoori chicken, and Palak paneer and what was there of the kheer. However the chicken tikka masala was really watery and bland, the gulab jamun uncooked on the center, and the gobhi was really greasy. Hoping this was just an off day as the restaurant felt like it had potential. Will try their dinner menu someday to see if it's just a buffet thing read more

The food here is very authentic and the chicken tiki masala is my favorite dish at the moment. Their buffet is on Friday and Saturday from 500pm -100pm. It's worth it on those days especially with friends and family. Aweide variety of food to choose from. Service is excellent as well. This is my favorite place to eat when I'm in the neighborhood.
