I used to come here all the time before COVID and came recently - the ribs have slightly changed, in my opinion, and but still delicious and will keep coming back. I crave the corn pudding and hush puppies. I've never really had a bad meal here. I feel like if you get the platter versus the rack of ribs alone, it's less meatier - so I usually just get half rack of ribs and sides. So good, and sad I can only come a few times a year. The service can be inconsistent, but it's basically just a self-serve after ordering, so not a problem. The ambiance: very spacious since I see lots of people take it to-go and it's always been clean. Ok. Now, I'm craving it...

Finally had a chance to hit Q BBQ while driving back up from the South this last time through after trying to plan this stop for years. I had always wanted to come here when it was owned by Tuffy Stone and I actually wasn't even aware that he had sold it until after I ate there and Tuffy actually commented on my video of the spot himself to let me know. The place was large and clean with plenty of seating and the gentleman who helped me at the counter was friendly. The meal came to around $24 for two meats, two sides, cornbread, and a fountain beverage. For the two meats I chose to go with Regular Brisket as well as brisket burnt ends. The ol' go big or go home mentality...hit me with both big beef items. For sides I chose mac and cheese as well as collard greens. This plate is much like a tale of two cities for me, the protein offerings were excellent, the rest was good, not great. The regular brisket was incredibly tender and I was having a hard time even keeping it on my fork from the plate to my mouth. Good flavor on it and a decent smoke ring as well. I have had better smoked brisket in my life but only maybe a handful of times. The burnt ends were also delicious and even more tender, but they were slightly one dimensional. They did have a sauce on the table that was a bit spicy though and when I added that they were a homerun. I wouldn't turn down either of those brisket options any time they were offered to me! The mac and cheese was pretty good but nothing that was super memorable. The collards were the same for me. I enjoyed them enough to eat everything on my plate, but next time in I'd definitely opt for trying other items. The cornbread also had good flavor but was dry. I ran the cornbread at the end through the leftover sauce from my burnt ends and that was a nice combo! All in all I am happy I finally got to stop in here and give it a shot and I'd go back and try them again. Q Barbecue - Didn't Suck!

Counter service barbecue joint -- cashier was friendly and helpful. I ordered the barbecue plate with collards and fries. There was a fountain drink station with lemonade and tea as well. Barbecue was good if not spectacular. There were four sauces to choose from on the table. Collards were very good. Fries could have been cooked longer and they only gave one ketchup packet. I wish ketchup was just on the table. Portion sizes were good.

Place was clean and staff very friendly. Ordered 6 smoked wings, dry. Brisket sandwich, Mac and cheese and sweet tea. Wings were dry, meaning not slathered in sauce. Wings looked great and very good in size. But they were definitely in the smoker a long time. Flavorful but dry to the point they pulled away from the bone. The bone reminded me of sun bleached bones after the meat was gone. Mac and cheese was good like it was freshly made. Knowing brisket is probably the most difficult cut to smoke, I rolled the dice on the brisket sandwich. I rolled a craps. Lifting the top bun off I could tell the meat was dry. Tasting a piece before adding sauce it was dry AF. I added some BBQ sauce and it was like putting sauce on small wooden planks. I tried to love it but I couldn't even like it after a couple of bites. Would I go back. Maybe. I wouldn't have the same things I had today with the exception of the Mac and cheese. Total cost a little over $31 not including tip.

I got a sliced brisket plate which was pretty good! The service was good, and it is a quick and easy order. The brisket itself didn't have as much smoky flavor as I have had before(but honestly I'm no expert on that), but it was still very good. I am glad that it does not come with sauce to allow the meat to speak for itself, but allows you to add their different sauces as you like at each table. (they had some good ones, I think I tried all their BBQ sauces besides the classic) The plate came with 2 sides, I got Macaroni and Onion rings. The onion rings were decent, honestly pretty good, only thing is I would personally prefer more crunch but the onion was cooked very nicely. The Mac and Cheese was pretty good, good amount of cheesiness and not too watery, definitely fit my taste. The cornbread is also pretty good! Not too crumbly, has that nice texture that's not too dry and has some moistness to it but not too moist. Next time, I would want to try the collard greens Good atmosphere, bathroom is decent.

Food tasted fantastic. Our two meals included pulled pork sandwich and brisket platter with cole slaw, baked beans, and pineapple hot dish as sides. I do have a complaint about the brisket portions. For $17 I received 5 small slices of brisket. I will not return because of the cost and portion size despite the food quality.

While in Richmond area for my daughter's soccer tournament, we had to get some BBQ. This came highly recommended by other soccer parents, and it was close from our hotel, so we gave it a try. When we arrived, this place was packed and there was quite a line to order your food. We ordered the Big BBQ plates with brisket and ribs. The ribs were one of the best ones I've had in any BBQ places. I would come back just for that. It was very tender but not fall of the bones which I don't like. The brisket was good, but I wish they also offered moist brisket. We also enjoyed their wings - it was perfectly fried and we enjoyed the dry rub. Solid BBQ place in the Glen Allen, VA area.

For some reason, I remembered this place being worse than it was when I first went here a couple years back. I was throughly surprised on every aspect here. To start, the hush puppies were super good. They were flaky and soft on the inside and crisp and crunchy on the outside. The cornbread was alright. I'm not a huge fan of it to begin with but I didn't mind it as a change of pace. The potato salad was really good. It was creamy, and packed with flavor. Instead of a mustard driven potato salad, it was more of a classic style, which I appreciated. It tasted fresh as well. The Mac and cheese wasn't the best or something I'd automatically order again, but it was serviceable. I thought it was pretty creamy, and the char on top was nice. It could've used more flavor like pepper or some type of seasoning in my opinion. Next, I thought the onion rings were really good. They are huge and you get a lot of them for an order. They had good crispiness and the batter tasted really good. Next I'd like to point out the amazing bbq sauce selection that they have at each table. I thought they were AMAZING. The sauces alone made me want to come back here. They hit the spot on them. The pulled chicken was phenomenal as well. It's creamy and melts in your mouth, which I loved. Most pulled chicken is dry and gets boring after a while, this one doesn't at all. It's seasoned nicely and again pairs super well with the bbq sauces. The pudding was good. My girlfriend isn't a huge fan of banana pudding so I got this all to myself. It did taste like it had been sitting out for a while, the wafers weren't crisp but instead soggy. This thankfully didn't take away from the flavor. Overall, the service was fast, the restaurant is spacious and seating is comfortable. I want to try this place out again and try the bbq before I give it a full five stars. If they can hit on that, I'd be willing to bump it up. Pricing really isn't terrible for bbq. I think all of this was like 25 bucks. I'll be here again and I recommend this spot to anyone in glen allen!

A good decision to eat at Q bbq, Glen Allen! Nice atmosphere, seems like a newish restaurant. Lunch time on a Wednesday proved to be easy ordering and food was delivered to our table in about 5 mins. Friendly staff that assisted me when ordering since I had questions. I ordered pulled pork sandwich with 2 sides. It arrived with ample serving sizes and there were 4 different bbq sauces to choose from. Our meals were delicious. I wish a bottle of ketchup was on the table for fries instead of several tiny, tedious pkts, after all, COVID's been over for 2 yrs. read more

A clean and serviceable restaurant, but for this Texas boy, the food was overpriced and bland. I spent $18 at lunch for a 2 meat plate with a drink. Brisket was tender but dry. I had to put sauce on it to chew it. All the sauce was on the sweet side, and not savory enough. Chicken had a great smokey flavor but was served (and perhaps even cooked?) without the skin - hence there was no char or dry rub on it whatsoever. A strange choice for a BBQ restaurant. Mac-n-cheese was decent, and onion rings were hot and crispy. Cornbread, like the sauce, was too sweet. The butter was so chilled I couldn't spread it on the bread. I finished my plate because I was hungry. Probably won't be back. read more

Finally, a restaurant worthy of a 5 star rating! Restaurant is clean, well staffed and professionally run. Food is outstanding! We had brisket, ribs, pulled pork. Sides, coleslaw, baked beans, pineapple pudding thing, all of it was excellent. Look. , brisket in a fast food joint is hard to do, it doesn't keep well. This brisket was good, for what it is fast food. Same with the other meat. If you want fantastic bbq, cook it yourself. It you want it on demand, at a moment's notice? This is as good as you are going to consistently get. read more

Just what I needed! After driving for 7 hours, the last 90 minutes in torrential rainfall with almost zero visibility, this was a warm welcome. Friendly staff and really good food! I liked that there was a choice of a rib "sampler". Just 3 ribs, big, meaty, juicy ribs! Perfect amount for me. I would have liked there to be something green like beans or broccoli as a side, but the sides were very good. All they need is a "mommy" by the exit with a warm washcloth to wipe my face and hands read more

Finally got to try Q Barbeque (difficult to leave the city for bbq) and would likely come back again. Two of us got a three meat platter with 2 orders of ribs (6 ribs total) and pulled pork with 2 sides. We got onion rings and corn pudding. It also comes with a roll to make a small sandwich. The pulled pork was good with a slightly vinegar taste. The ribs were also tender and had a really good taste. Ribs were probably one of my favorite in the area rivaling Buz and Neds. I liked the corn pudding a lot and the onion rings solid. The place is new and clean looking and a food comes out fairly quickly. I imagine the food is fairly consistent. Ordering and layout reminds me of Panera. Wasn't anything mind blowing but very good, tasty and fast. read more

Q Barbeque is one of those places that makes living in Richmond a blessing. It's a small barbeque chain with only four locations and I'm thankful to live near one. Q Barbeque was founded by George "Tuffy" Stone aka The Professor. His roots are pure Richmond and the fruits of his labor have been bestowed upon us through Q Barbeque. For me it's all about the spare ribs. I'm a spare ribs junkie and if you can't produce good spare ribs don't you dare call yourself "Barbeque" I had a craving for ribs so strong one Saturday it could have given a pregnant woman a run for her money. I made a bee line for Q Barbeque. It had been a year since my last Q Barbeque run. At that time (circa 2013) the ribs were way overcooked and dry. I wasn't on Yelp then and wrote off Q Barbeque for about a year. After all, when it comes to spare ribs in Richmond, there is a huge name to contend with and it rhymes with Fuzz. I walked in and ordered a full rack to-go with a pint of slaw. My order was ready in less than two minutes and I drove home to enjoy my food. The smell of those ribs on the drive home was almost unbearable. That first bite was nothing short of magical. It went beyond my expectations. The ribs were juicy, flavorful, smokey, and exactly what I craved. This batch was flawless! I'll let the other Yelpers critique the sides, the pork, and their dining experience. For me, these ribs are world-class and totally worthy of 5 stars. read more

Man I'm excited! I'm getting to have lunch at one of my favorite Pitmasters Judges restaurant! Tuffy Stone! My MEMPHIS assessment..... The brisket was BRILLIANT! The Burnt Ends would have been as well if they were NOT doused in bbq sauce. Sauce on the side please. ALL of the sides were too sweet except the Mac and Cheese. I've NEVER had Greens that were sweet! Couldn't even finish them! Even the cornbread was sweet! (I call that Yankee Cornbread ) All of the Sauces on the table were too sweet for me. I'm in Virginia though and I think they like it like that. Last but not least.....Banana Pudding. Being I'm from South Georgia, my standards are higher for Banana Pudding than BBQ! The pudding was above average, but not even close to the Grand Poobah of Banana Pudding at Central BBQ in Memphis, Tennessee! Good Times! read more

I had a decent meal at Q Barbeque. I ordered the pulled pork plate. It came with two side (chose Mac and cheese and hush puppies) and a corn muffin. With four sauces to choose from, I suggest the vinegar sauce. read more

My husband and I visited on our way to Virginia Beach and the food was soooo good we went back on our way home. Courtney was amazing...she went above and beyond to make sure everyone in the restaurant was happy with their food and service. We will definitely stop by on our road trips. read more

Simply outstanding and worth the trip. We lived about 8 miles away and used the online ordering to order some super tasty q. I have seen them on the TV and was intrigued. The food lived up to the reputation. We arrived and received our food quickly. The service was good and friendly. Our family included seven ranging from the ages of 72 to 7. Everyone enjoyed their food. The brisket and burnt ends were particularly awesome. Also ordered were a half rack of ribs, chicken fingers and barbecue chicken. All of them were super tasty. Our favorite side dishes were the potato salad, the pineapple and the brisket baked beans. We will definitely be back. Next time hopefully to sit and enjoy the clean an open environment post COVID-19. read more

What can I say. It's a bbq spot. Difference is they also sell burger, hot dogs & wings. Their food was great, a little pricey. But good. I could compare them to Mission BBQ. But definitely not a Buzz or Neds or Alamo BBQ. Their customer service was amazing & but their food was just ok. read more

You want the Family Meal Deal? Fine, then GET OUT! So this is crazy, we just spent ~$40 here and because ONE of our items was a family meal deal, we were NOT allowed to eat it inside the restaurant. WTH. We had also ordered ribs, other sides, drinks. But, we got handed a couple leaking bags, no napkins, no forks so we begged for them. I asked for an exception and the cashier said it was a "rule". So, with it being 39 degrees outside, we then had to drive over to the food court in the mall to sit and eat. There were no plates so I used top of styrafoam box, My son got the bottom half and my husband had to use one of the wet plastic bags as,his "plate" and eat his sides out of the communal containers. All we wanted was some food before a school play. Thanks for ruining our dinner. Pretty idiotic to throw paying customers out, and very family UNFRIENDLY too. What if we had a big family? This is not table service and the place was empty so why care if your patrons want to enjoy their food inside? After we were done, we had to consolidate our leftovers in the side dish cups because our box was torn up and bags were then dirty. Wow, and you are one of my son's school "business partners"....but not for long. No hospitality whatsoever. So we will take our appetites and money to Mission Barbecue and Buzz and Neds, both in the same area who have MUCH better barbecue AND don't treat you like CRAP. #neveragain read more

After passing this for a year, we finally decided to go in the beginning of December. Now we have been to Q Barbecue maybe 7 times; we are obsessed. Every single part of our meals were phenomenal, perfectly cooked and wonderfully presented. This is a unique BBQ joint and I am so glad we took a chance and tried it! My order: Single cheeseburger combo, side of Mac and cheese w/ a self-serve fountain drink and an extra side of fries, it came out to about 15$. This food establishment is remarkably clean, dusted, and the bathrooms are SPOTLESS and this place is STOCKED! 10/10 would recommend to everyone including families with children and diverse taste palates! There is a wide, diverse menu with a selection for children, catering, salad, and even handmade desserts! Last but certainly not least, this restaurant has personalized and memorable customer service. Every visit, they set a new impressive standard to maintain! So glad we found this hidden gem in VCC! read more

Great place for great food! Offering family packages, catering, delivery, pick up, and limited indoor seating. We ate in, I got the pulled pork and my husband got the pulled chicken. We also got onion rings, chili cheese fries, and hush puppies. Everything was delish! The chicken was just a tad too salty. Staff was very pleasant, and the dining area was very clean. We'll be back for sure! read more

I have a son with allergies and sometimes we find ourselves in places that do not seem to have any idea what is in their food. But here, not only did they have a handy card on hand with allergens, they were extremely helpful and caring. AND the food was DELICIOUS! We were just passing through but if we lived closer, I would be there once a week. read more

Last night was my second visit to Q because the first time was so awesome I knew that if I passed through the area near eating time i would stop in here ... well, I was hours ahead of dinner so I worked at the Starbucks across the street for a few hours so I could come here for dinner! Last time I tried the burnt ends brisket and it was amazing. So to get an idea of other offerings I tried the pulled pork last night and it did not disappoint!great texture and flavor and three sauces on the table to choose from: regular, sweet, and zingy. the tea was ok, a little weak but plenty sweet ... I mixed it with some unsweetened and some lemonade and enjoyed it. I had sides of mac n cheese and corn casserole, but were excellent. I will definitely drop in on future visits to the area. read more

Q is one of my favorite spots I've eaten in my trips to VA. I came for lunch and first off really appreciated the prompt service and food delivery. Brisket is totally 5 stars. Greens were 4 stars in my book, I'd like more savory notes but really good. Slaw was 3 stars - nothing to write home about but worth eating. Enjoyed the sauces being at each table as well and while the hot zing really isn't hot, it is delicious. read more

The food was good and staff was nice. This would be a good lunch spot. The atmosphere doesn't feel like a typical BBQ/smokehouse - more like a diner. The staff was very kind and nice. The 4 meat platter was priced week at under $30 however I tried all 4 meats and they had the same texture. The ribs were tender and soft but almost as if they were boiled not smoked - the smoke ring was very light and no crust but a squishy. The brisket was soft and squishy - def. lacking a crust and the same for the other 2 meats. Overall it was good. read more

Great atmosphere! I had a craving for a chili dog and decided to try the "Q"... great choice... Very friendly staff, clean and spacious. As I was eating the crowd was extremely diverse; families eating alongside local construction workers, business meetings and friends catching up. The restaurant was half full by the time I finished lunch and the line to order was backed up to the entrance. The first thing that hits you, the aroma from the smokers... easy menu with a fair price! Comfortable restaurant feel with home smoked flavors. Had a delicious dinner there tonight with my family (including teenage boys) while in town for baseball. Brisket, pulled pork, chili, hush puppies, collard greens, corn bread and Mac n cheese were fantastic. Not a bite left. For me, the real find was the most delicious corn pudding I've had since forever. Truly outstanding. Small but thoughtful selection of beer, Cheerwine on the slate of sodas, delicious tea and the best banana pudding with crushed vanilla wafers as well as the ones atop. Went in for brisket, was stoked that they also had burnt ends!! Too bad both were sold out. Got 2x pork with a side of pulled chicken. Chicken was REALLY good. Pork was only pretty good. Greens were great, but that pineapple side (really a dessert) was outstanding! read more

Great experience. Delicious BBQ. Best I've had outside of Texas. The ribs and pulled pork were tender, juicy and very flavorful. Prices were very reasonable. Also, since I am gluten sensitive, I was pleased to hear that all their meats, sauces and even corn muffins are gluten free. They also have an allergen card for all their meals, sides and desserts that disclosed several different food allergens, by menu item. Close from I-95, this will become a permanent stop in our travels. read more

WOW. Do yourself a favor. Get the ribs. They're next level. Best ribs we've had. The burnt ends are also delicious. Brisket and chicken both had great flavor, but a little dry. Mac & cheese very good, especially with some pepper. Quick service. We will definitely be back. read more

Im going to be real with this. I went there for lunch today and was totally stoked because anytime I get brisket, my tastebuds go into super excited mode. Dont quote me wrong on this, but I think the owners of this place are definitely jewish, which is ok because I have a lot of friends that are jews, hell, even Jesus was a jew and he was a pretty cool cat. Anyways, I wanted to write this because my jaw hit the floor when I asked them how much meat do you get for their $10 (dinner plate;no drink), and the supervisor/owner on deck replied 4 oz. Just the other day I ate at Dickey's and was bummed out that you only get 6 oz. Folks, i fyour not getting at least 8 oz in the $10 range, then you are unknowingly getting ripped off. Also, they put shredded pork in the baked beans, as if there is some consensus that the entire population wants to eat an animal that wallers in its own crap! If they lived in Texas, they would be hung. (I lived there for a while, and its a beef culture) Typically you can judge a BBQ joint solely on the baked beans, and these were lacking molassess, onions, and TLC. I read the ingredients on their in-house BBQ sauce, high fructose corn syrup, pretty much the number one thing making kids obese these days. As for the atmosphere, it looks like a European coffee shop. This place is perfect if you have a small stomach and deep pockets. Well thats about it, go see for yourself read more

If I could give this a 0/5 I would. This place is extremely unethical to their employees. My boyfriend worked for this company for 6 months. During those 6 months, He encountered an episode of fraud which, upon bringing up to the head manager, was dismissed and he was told he must move to a different store. Now I'm not a business owner, but if someone was committing these acts while on my payroll, I would want them fired. Now not only have we dealt with this horrendous issue, he has since quit working here for their terrible management ways. Since quitting in September, he has not received his last check. It is now almost December and we are still waiting. Upon calling the head manager, NUMEROUS TIMES, we have been told-- another manager mailed it, the payroll company mailed it, "oh, I'll look into it", and I'll have them resend it. When asked if they could hold the check for pick up at a store location, we were told that they could not do this....So here we are, almost to Christmas and we still have not seen his final paycheck. So, here is my suggestion to the public that is interested in working here... find another job. It is not worth the time and hassle you will put in and you will end up disgruntled and frustrated. A final check should not take 8 weeks to arrive unless it is coming from China. read more

Q Barbeque is my first choice when it comes to barbecue. It's always delicious! Their barbeque dishes were packed with flavor and the meat was so tender and juicy. The variety of sauces they offered was a nice touch too. The only thing to note is that it can get quite busy during peak times, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. But trust me, it's totally worth it! If you're a fan of barbeque, I definitely recommend giving Q Barbeque a try. read more

Meh not bad but nothing special. Ribs were decent but brisket didn't have much of a Smokey taste to it plus they chop their brisket and don't offer it sliced. Good brisket should be sliced. Prices are pretty reasonable but I probably won't go back. read more
