    Shrimp Shumai
    Mara M.

On my latest trip to NY I was walking around Little Italy craving shrimp shumai (I know.) I was too hungry to walk back to Chinatown and out of luck came across Quan Sushi. It's a small dimly lit restaurant with only about 5 tables. In my opinion, this is the type of place you visit new york for. The shrimp shumai came out very quickly, and was among the best iv ever had. I'm a sucker for anything with a side of ponzu. I also got the sweet potato roll that was outstanding. I'm very glad i stumbled upon this place. These type of places just don't exist where I live (Florida.)

This is a great, lowkey sushi place if you're hungry and don't want to wait too long for your food -- I hadn't eaten all day, and this was my dinner. The staff was attentive when I was trying to order and ask for my checks. The space is pretty small, but there's enough tables to fit a few groups or parties of two. I ordered the 3 Roll Dinner yesterday, which did not disappoint! It's got me craving more sushi today because the flavor was great, and the price is great for the quantity. It also came with with miso soup, which was hot and not too salty.

Like other Yelpers have said Quan Sushi is definitely good sushi for your buck. In stock market terms, it's like a value play. I would recommend it if good sushi for cheap is your priority. This is definitely not an overpriced spot that is trying to sell you some decadent experience. The space itself is pretty small. I think there were about 5 or so tables so capacity would be about 20 people or so. It's definitely more suited for takeout, which I have done twice from them. In my most recent takeout order I got the sushi platter for two with salad. It was a good variety of fish and good amounts of fish too. It came with the choice of soup or salad.

I got their spicy salmon roll and tuna avocado roll. For lunch it was 2 for $12 and it was good for the price. The service was nice and they were quick. The inside is kind of small and a little dark but I'd come back for lunch.

    Shrimp Tempura

I was walking around SoHo looking for affordable, fresh, delicious sushi, and I stumbled upon Quan, which hit the mark on all three. I also have a XXL dog that is basically my shadow so I was kind of worried that they wouldn't let me in especially with it being a smaller restaurant - but fortunately the waitress told me that she can take my to go order outside, as well as take my payment, which was a huge relief. Now getting to the food; I kind of want to keep this a hole in the wall and gate keep but I won't. Their lunch special goes until Saturday until 3:30 PM so I was just able to catch the tail end of it. I ordered their lunch special roll which you can choose to come with either miso soup or salad. I got the soup in addition to two or three rolls. So I picked getting the shrimp tempura roll, as well as the spicy yellowtail roll from the lunch menu and then ordered the dragon. Phoenix roll from the chef special list. Overall, my order was under $30 and everything was absolutely phenomenal. The rolls were fresh and when I tell you I've had 1 million and one shrimp tempura rolls before in the past this one...stood out. I would absolutely come here again. It's actually a steal if you're in the area, absolutely check it out. My only complaint would be I just wish they had thicker chopsticks!!

I ordered their 3 roll lunch special for $15 (Salmon avocado roll and eel avocado roll). The order came with side of soup. (You can also get a side of salad). The sushi was okay. Portions were smaller than other sushi restaurants in the area (however this place was cheaper). I ordered for pickup, and it took the restaurant 30 minutes to complete my order (I had to wait an additional 10 minutes after I arrived). There were only a few people eating in.

    Mango Hawaii Roll

Got the sushi special and eel unagi hand roll. Comes with choice of miso soup or salad. I picked miso soup. Was decent not too salty. General reaction to all the seafood, including the hand roll, you kinda get what you pay for. The prices are reasonable but you're not getting freshest catch either (I could be wrong lol) . Yakisoba was a blah. Beef was chewy and overall needed salt/seasoning. Hawaii roll was sweet with addition of mango and savory from the cream cheese which tasted like a bagel without the smoked salmon. My pet peeve was the rice. Not vinegar seasoned and gummy.

Small place with great Sushi and generous portions! I had the spicy kani salad and it was delicious! The service was quick (although they did forget about my eel cucumber roll). The ambience is quiet and relaxing. A perfect way to end a day of shopping in soho! Solid sushi and excellent udon noodles!

Yes - for the lunch specials! Ordered takeout off the lunch specials menu. 3 small rolls and one app came out to be around $30. Not bad. I really appreciated that the salmon roll had some juicy pieces of salmon. I still think about that bite sometimes. Rolls are small, kind of like Maki rolls, but the rice to fish ratio is pretty good (aka, not TOO much rice). Chicken karage was pretty standard.

    Manhattan Bridge (sushi for 3)
    Erika T.

In terms of value, this place is great, especially for a sushi restaurant in NYC. They're very generous with the amount of fish that they give you. We ordered the Manhattan Bridge, which was a sushi dinner set for 3 ($72). I'd say about 2/3 of it was sushi and rolls, and 1/3 of it was sashimi. It also came with soup and salad. All of it tasted pretty good and generic. The service was quite slow, and we had to wait a while for them to take our order and also for our food to arrive. It's a really small space with only a couple of sushi chefs though. There's also about 4 small tables in the restaurant. The table we were seated at was sticky, so that was pretty gross.

Crazy Tuna Roll, Salmon Skin Roll
    Kevin L.

Very small restaurant, ordered takeout but had to wait 20 minutes after my order was quoted to be ready for them to finish making the food. Portions are small but the ratio of fish to rice is good, more fish heavy :) Crazy tuna roll and crazy salmon roll were good, salmon skin roll decent the skin was crispy, and the spicy salmon Naruto roll I would not get again, subbing the rice with cucumber was not a good choice.

Super fresh and delicious. Top quality food and service. Hot sake and miso soup. Thank you!

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

We walked into a stylish, energetic space with a menu designed around sharing, making it a good option for a casual dinner or group meal. The interior has a contemporary, lively feel with an open kitchen that adds energy to the room, and the seating is arranged to accommodate both small groups and larger parties comfortably. Instead of sticking strictly to traditional Japanese dishes, the menu mixes familiar flavors with more modern presentations, creating a dining experience that feels both approachable and exploratory. The standout item is the katsu, which is where the restaurant really shines. We ordered the pork loin and tenderloin versions and found the breading crisp while the meat stayed tender and juicy, the crust holding up well without becoming greasy. The mazemen is another highlight, with chewy noodles and a rich sauce that brought a lot of flavor without feeling too heavy, the sauce coating each strand evenly and the toppings adding layers of texture and depth. Beyond those, dishes like the butter scallops, corn ribs, and seafood options added variety and made it worth ordering multiple plates to share. The scallops were well seared with a buttery finish, and the corn ribs offered a smoky, slightly charred flavor that paired well with the richer dishes. The desserts are also a memorable part of the meal. The corn ice cream is one of the more unique items, with a sweet and savory flavor that sounds unusual but works surprisingly well, the sweetness of the corn balanced by a subtle savory note that kept it from feeling cloying. It fits the restaurant's overall approach of taking familiar ingredients and presenting them in a more unexpected way, and the creativity of the dessert menu feels consistent with the rest of the meal. Service and atmosphere add to the experience, with attentive staff and a lively dining room that feels suited for groups. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the pacing of the meal comfortable, and the open kitchen added a layer of engagement as we watched the dishes come together. Reservations can be difficult to get, especially during busy times, and the small plate format means the best experience comes from ordering several dishes rather than focusing on one entree. The variety across the menu encourages sharing, and the pacing of the meal works well for a longer, more social dinner. konban delivers a well-executed modern Japanese dining experience. While some of the more hyped dishes may not completely live up to expectations, the katsu, noodles, and seafood dishes make it a worthwhile visit. The combination of creativity, quality ingredients, and a lively atmosphere makes it a destination for exploring different flavors and dishes together rather than just ordering one signature item, offering a meal that feels both engaging and satisfying.

The pork was so tender. the ebi tempura were huge, and the mazemen was thankfully not spicy. However, the scallops could've been more tender and we we were all unimpressed with the ube tiramisu.
