SF old timer that I am, I always associate this address with Fringale, the longtime, well regarded French bistro that closed its doors six years ago. I had it bookmarked but never did make it, so here I was on a breezy weekday afternoon trying its new identity as a moderately priced Vietnamese restaurant. Price-wise, it's a grade level above similar eateries in Little Saigon. I was making my way to Chase Center for a Valkyries game, so this looked like an apt spot for a pregame nosh. The place was empty in the late afternoon, and kudos to the proprietor for remaining open between lunch and dinner. There was no hesitation in serving me, which I appreciated. Feeling hungry for something substantial, I ordered the $25 Garlic Noodles with Duck Breast and Grilled Pork (Photo 8). Stir-fried in olive oil, it came with a mixed side salad and a cup of their housemade chicken bone broth (Photo 6). The dish was tasty, though the combination of fat and carbs was probably not the healthiest indulgence I could have had. For my nutritional benefit, I could probably go for the fresh spring rolls or the vegetarian pho. The menu offered many temptations for the next visit. FOOD - 4 stars...plenty of garlic and oil in their noodles AMBIANCE - 4 stars...quietly reserved in the afternoon, no trace of Fringale SERVICE - 4 stars...quietly effective TOTAL - 4 stars...stylish Vietnamese RELATED - Exploring western SoMa? Well I thought I had more photos. That's no problem though because I'm here so often I'll just snap more to update yall! Wonderful people that work here and so cool. I've been coming here for a couple years now. It's my go to spot when coming home from work and getting of Caltrain. The beef pho and deep friend imperial rolls are my go to. The broth of the pho is delicious and the meat portion in the soup is so generous. I love the imperial rolls and the texture. Perfection! It's nice inside the restaurant especially on a rainy day. There's just something so homey about this place. It's so welcoming g and warm.

Popped by for lunch on a weekday. We ordered 2 bowls of pho and their do-it-yourself wrap platter. Everything was tasty and service was friendly. The wrap platter was fun but not worth $25 in my opinion. We opted for their signature beef and tiger prawn platter which came with literally 3 prawns. Despite a very unassuming entrance, the interior is actually quite clean and comfortable. Lots of tables and service is friendly.

Quaint restaurant on 4th Street. Menu was simple with many protein options. Service was quick and efficient. For appetizer, we had the Banh Xeo (or Vietnamese crepe) with pork. I love this! It's flavorful and delicious. I could eat this as my entree and be perfectly happy! I wish they gave 4 leaves of lettuce. For dinner, we had: Garlic Noodles with Sea Bass Fillet & Grilled Pork - pretty good. I was hoping the noodles would be more garlicky. Tiger Shrimp Bun (Vermicelli Bowl) - also pretty good. Garlic Noodles with Chicken Pho Overall it was pretty good.

I always love when Vietnamese restaurants offer Bun Bo Hue! I asked for less spicy, and it was perfect. Both plates were delicious. The place is very cute and busy. Would love to try their woven vermicelli next.

Cozy restaurant vibe that did not have a very loud ambience. Kind staff as well who checked in frequently. 5/5 - Garlic noodles with chicken. An absolute must order! The chicken was cooked very well. Tender and juicy. Garlic noodles were cooked al dente and perfectly seasoned. The two stars of this dish complement each other well. The pickled veggies paired with the dish also provide a refreshing bite of flavor that contrasts the warmth of the garlic noodles and chicken. I highly recommend trying this dish if you haven't done so! 3/5 - Pho with chicken. The chicken was lackluster in this dish, mainly due to its dryness. The broth alone still tasted very good in terms of savoryness and seasoning. It was a bit of a harder finish for us but I would recommend trying their beef with their pho.

I've stopped by here three times, but this is the first time I got the food and dined in. The first two times I just picked up passionfruit tea to go. Naturally, I was curious to try the foods, so I came after working out. I didn't eat much during the day, so I was hungryyy. Luckily, the foods were up to standard. The house special assorted platter of traditional Viet foods was super tasty, and the beef banh hoi was pretty solid, although I wish the beef had a bit more flavor. It def relied on the fish sauce to carry it. Overall quite good though and glad I finally got to check it out and have the full in person experience.

One of the few places in SF that have Banh Hoi on their menu so friend and I decided on Que Viet. We came by on a weekday dinner around 5:30pm and it was pretty empty but felt cozy and peaceful with the calm Viet music playing in the background. Service was quick We got the woven vermicelli as well as the appetizer sampler. Appetizer sampler came with 2 of each item which was perfect for us to share and split. None of the apps stood out significantly but at least the Banh Hoi satisfied our craving. The beef wrapped within the leaves were flavorful and juicy, pairing with vermicelli, lettuce and herbs helped balance out the flavors. We loved that everything was fresh and portion was decent for the price! Throughout our meal there was a fly that kept staying around our food though so that was a little annoying.

Grilled Pork Sausage & Sliced Pork Woven Vermicelli / Banh Hoi Nem & Thit Nuong. (Order this)

I like this place. The ambiance is homey and cozy, friendly and food were delicious. It's a Viet Chinese owned restaurant and the menu is pretty large. I've had the "Banh Hoi" Woven Vermicelli. With pork sausage & grilled pork. And Ribeye Pho. The pho was decent, it was dark broth on the sweet side with taste of star anise and cinnamon. Ribeye were fresh and served on the side so it's entirely up to you whether you prefer to dip the rare ribeye on sriracha and hoisin separately (like me) or you like to mix and add the meat to the broth or maybe just swish swish (the sound and action of rapidly cooking the meat in the pot for 10-30 seconds before dipping it into savory sauces). However I highly recommend their woven vermicelli dishes. It's fun, you make your own wraps with the rice paper, dip in water, add meats vegetables and sauce and roll. Very fresh and fun. It' s a good neighborhood restaurant that serves Vietnamese comfort food at affordable prices.

Service is an ok. I asked two questions and the server was already agitated. Other Vietnamese tables came later than us but got their food earlier. Worst pho I've had in my life. Soup was flat and the meat on the bone were still very hard. Maybe the bones haven't been cooked long enough by lunch time but that's not how it should be. The wrapper your own spring roll was pretty but tasty just alright. One of the fish sauce was rot fishy so it really wasn't for me.

The location of Que Viet is very convenient and the restaurant has lots of seating. Great and attentive service as well! I may have gotten the wrong item as the chicken pho was lackluster for me. The soup was very flavorful, but the noodles themselves were a tad overcooked and broke apart, making the dish difficult to eat with chopsticks. I would come again and try their beef pho instead.

Super quick and service is very attentive, and affordable sit down right off the MUNI coming from downtown SF! Stumbled upon this place on a night out; parking is relatively easy on a Sunday with the streets being mostly clear. Que Viet offers your typical vermicelli bowls, pho, and even bun Bo hue (spicey noodle soup but please dont go here for that!) Restaurant space is very clean and well kept with some peaceful Vietnamese music strumming in the background. On to the foodie review! Grilled Pork Garlic Noodles Super filling portions coupled with a side of pho broth to pallete cleanse! Asian garlic noodles aren't your typical beat around the bush noods!! Full of umami, sweet, buttery and more-than-5 cloves of garlic goodness! Bun Bo Hue (not pictured) My friend ordered this and I got a sample of it!.... It's a short cut spicey pho broth. A true bun Bo hue has a subtle lemon grass sweetness paired with rock sugar as a base. Great dish if it was labeled as a spicey pho instead. Imperial rolls Deep fried to perfection I just wished it was worth its price point! ($12 for 3 full rolls) unfortunately they were out of pork for our visit so we had to opt for chicken and it was still as flavorful.

I came across Que Viet while exploring the city on a chilly day, perfect pho weather. The restaurant is cute, cozy, and filled with natural light from all the windows. On my first visit, I ordered the spring rolls with shrimp and the chicken pho. I love how they use the thicker noodles, and the chicken broth was very flavorful. I went back again to try the beef tartare and the shrimp pho. The broth isn't really like traditional pho, but it's still very tasty. My only complaint is that both times the herb and green onion portions were a bit skimpy, and I had to ask for extra. Overall, I would definitely eat here again

Some dishes were better prepared than others, but overall, the food was solid across the board. If you enjoy making your own spring rolls, you'll love the grilled pork skewers. The pork is super tender and has such a incredible flavor profile of lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, and more. Rolled up with the woven vermicelli noodles and fried wonton crisps in a rice paper, you get a wonderful combination of texture in a single bite. The other crowd favorite of the night was the bánh xèo -- the stuffed rice crepe. The bánh xèo here is by far the best one that I've ever had, even surpassing ones I had in Vietnam. The outside was insanely crispy and and was surprisingly not particularly oily, while the inside was loaded with fillings. Two other dishes that were well received by the group was the betel leaf wrapped grilled beef and the sugar cane shrimp. The beef had a very similar flavor profile as the pork, but the texture was a lot more lean. The shrimp had a bouncy, yet firm texture to it, and was very well-seasoned. My only qualm with the shrimp dish is that the sugarcane did not actually have any sweetness to it. There's fish sauce on the table along with a shrimp paste sauce, but to be honest, every dish we had was so flavorful on its own, the sauces aren't even needed. The only dish that we ordered that fell short was the grilled river shrimp. The presentation of the shrimp is impressive and very photogenic, but the flavor was lacking and the cook was inconsistent. Some people had shrimp that was undercooked -- borderline raw, and on the other end of the spectrum, others had shrimp that was so overcooked, that it was very difficult to remove the shrimp from the shell without completely tearing the meat. That said, everything else we ordered was well-prepared, and very tasty. Service was good throughout the meal, and I would definitely come back again for a meal with a large group. 4.5 experience rounding up to a 5.

The last two Saturdays in San Francisco have been not as sunny as people want them to be. One thing I always like to get in those days soup. Service, at least upstairs in the large but rather austere room, was done by a very direct waitress who seemed to be either used to culling tourists, or was being very direct about the menu, possibly both? We were essentially told to order garlic noodles, crab, beef, veggies, and not much else. Now to be fair those dishes were all good to excellent, particularly the crab and the garlic noodles, with friends absolutely raving about both. Seafood fried rice was good as well, although portions (aside from the crab) were not large, so expect to order more dishes than you might expect. The overall meal was very tasty, the physical vibe worked, but the menu felt more limited than expected, and combined with the terrible parking in the area, it didn't feel like the exceptional meal that was hyped.
