Favorite local spot! Food is consistently good, fair prices and friendly service! I've had everything from their pizza/Philly sand to their teriyaki bowl to the burgers and salads and everything has been great! Something for whatever mood you're in!

I should have taken a photo of the Philly cheesesteak, but let's just say it was awesome... as always.

Went past on May 24 2022 and noticed that the business windows were completely covered with paper. Anybody know if it is closing or just hopefully remodeling?

New owner.. remodeled but re-designed menu. Sadly not for the better. No reason to fix something that wasn't broken...

We ordered the LA Spicy Philly and it did not disappoint. Genuinely one of the best Philly cheesesteaks I've had, the flavor was phenomenal from start to finish. And the best part? I personally confirmed with the owners over the phone that their cheesesteak is halal, which means the whole family can enjoy it together. That's huge. If you're in Sherman Oaks or anywhere nearby, you need to try this place. Food: 5/5 Location: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 (only because they're super busy right now, which honestly is a good sign!) Stopped by on opening day - to a mostly smooth brick and mortar operation kicking off. Went with…read morethe classic Philly, with the house made Wiz. I made it a combo and also ordered the hot lemon pepper wings. Wasn't mad about my food. It kept my tastebuds occupied for the England v France bronze game. The portions, for what I paid...I'll accept. The cheesesteak landscape in LA is still a small neighborhood. You got the mall chain, the imported-from-Philly chain (my fave), and the indie complex, where Jawny's and a handful of other developing entities reside. LA loves a good hot, chopped sandwich and businesses will continue to showcase their take on the east coast institution. Even fast service megas, like Jack in the Crack and Arby's, are making sure they can ride the cheesesteak wave. Did Jawny's keep up with my favorite? Not so much. Not with the classic. I'm not even sure what was so proprietary about the house made Wiz. And the overall value made the original steak feel like more of a hyped, boutique version of the cheesteak. It just wasn't substance-forward. But this restaurant will technically be more accessible than the carwash pop-up was, and that counts in my hemisphere. To be honest, I see myself ordering their wings more often, as a closer alternative to Wingstop. Ultimately, Jawny's is middle of the road for me. Seems it'll be passible food that I can stand to pay for some of the time. But congratulations on a place to call your own, y'all! That much, for sure, deserves a salute.

Over the years I've probably ordered more sandwiches here than I can count, and lately I've been making it my mission to work through their vegan menu one sandwich at a time. The thing I appreciate most is that Ike's doesn't treat vegan options like an afterthought. They have an entire lineup of creative sandwiches that all bring something different to the table. Some of my favorites so far have been the Meatless Mike, Handsome Owl, Pee-Wee, Vegan Bonnie Jill, and Vegan Mary Ashley. Every time I think I've found my favorite, another sandwich surprises me. The Sherman Oaks team is always welcoming, the food is consistently fresh, and the menu keeps me coming back. It's one of those places that's become part of my LA story. If you're vegan, start exploring the menu. You'll probably find a favorite of your own.

Inside is tiny with just a few window seats, but the cashier was professional. I got the pastrami Reuben. The bread was nice and crunchy, but way too thick, and the pastrami tasted more like packaged deli meat than the real deal. It filled me up, but I wouldn't be rushing back. Oh, and no restroom... that's a pretty weird move for a restaurant.

I've been a frequent flyer of Boo's (since I'm over in Ktown) and also quite a few orders over the years from South Philly Experience and twice from Matu (but that's a major treat and honestly way overpriced). All of these have their own great bits about them and I love all these spots. This isn't going to be a "who's better than who" since each is different in their own right and hits the spot different ways. I got the sweet pepper steak on seeded roll with of course, Cooper's! Then I got a classic Italian hoagie (with Cooper's) loaded up double meat/cheese. Biiiiig bonus using Boar's Head meats too, top shelf stuff. The fact that they're using Cooper's is a major plus and can get a seeded roll is such a nice touch. I do love a classic Amoroso, but seeded with the cheesesteak and Cooper's gives Matu a run for its money (and saves my wallet). Of course the meat quality is very different due to Matu using Wagyu but let's be real, that's really what you're paying for there. It's a nice treat but not an every other day get your money's worth. I feel I've found my favourite cheesesteak now though! The roll is super fluffy and crunchy where it needs to be. That thing was swaddled like a cared for newborn when it arrived and still hot from Melrose. Absolute 9/10 for me. The Italian was properly loaded and as I sit here enjoying it, a nice zingy break between cheesesteak bites as I split them half and half for lunch. For speed I love some Boo's, for the grill char taste I love some South Philly Experience but overall for my favourite spot now, it's Philly's Best off Melrose. Matu again is a great quality cut treat but the wait, the cost and the amount you get is not really worth it. Will absolutely be ordering from this place again in the future!!
