I've always driven by this establishment and it is always busy. I've wanted to try it out for a long time and this evening I finally was able to go with my husband. It is marketed as a health food restaurant which intrigued me and intimidated my husband. Let me tell you, their food is probably the tastiest thing I have eaten in a long time. We both got variations of their power bowls. The Thai chicken was my choice and my husband got the cubano but subbed steak instead of pork. You order on an iPad device and choose a number and pay. Find a table and they bring the food right to you. The inside is small but quaint and nicely designed and I like sitting inside because you can see what other people are ordering. They brought us our food quickly. Large portion and I had to take half of mine home. My husband tried their strawberry lemonade and loved that it wasn't too sweet and not artificial tasting. One of my favorite restaurants in all of the South Bay. Well-run, and lots of yummy options. You can get sandwiches, burgers and bowls here, and they are all very customize-able. I've tried the salmon and also the La Bamba bowl. Both were delicious. It's also really hard to resist their drinks with Boba here. They're really good and there's a nice selection to choose from. I love the Thai Tea, because I'm basic like that :)! But don't skip out on a beverage here because it's part of the experience. The only downfall here is the parking - the lot isn't that great and very crowded so just be ready for that. read more

Been to Rabano twice now and the best way I can describe it is a mix of Mendocino Farms and Tender Greens with a dash of boba drinks. Rabano follows the farm-to-table philosophy featuring ingredients from local farms to create salads, sandwiches, and bowls. The menu clearly marks what is vegan (V) or can be requested as vegan (RV) which always wins points with me :) The layout of the restaurant confused us at first. There was a counter with an iPad register but the wall next to the door also had three iPads for self-service ordering. Since the placement of the menu was just above the self-service iPads, I thought that this was the only way to order. It wasn't until later that we discovered that you can order at the counter as well. Pretty much everything that we've ordered has been amazing in taste and in portion size! La Bamba bowl had good flavor, but took too long to come out (over 20 minutes) and they didn't include the avocado in my to-go order, so there was no opportunity for me to go back to ask for it. Overall disappointed. read more

This place deserves six stars because it checks off more boxes than I can think of, but what makes Rabano standout is that it has something premium and delicious (and across various world cuisines) for everybody! My favorites are: Shrimp tacos (these would be $25 bucks at any fancy sit down place. Grilled so perfect. Remind of Spanish gambas) Chinese Salad: this is my go to mid week healthy meal- very light and refreshing but full of so much fresh flavor Lechon cubano: Pulled pork bowl with not-too-fried plantains and black beans, sign me uppp anytime!! I've been coming to Rabano the last couple months. I have to say that everything I've tried is so damn good. I'm a creature of habit normally and stick with one or two items normally at restaurants. At Rabano I fluctuate between the "Thai Chicken", "Peruvian Saltado" and "Kabob Mediteraneo". Honestly its a difficult decision every time I show up. I've also had the steak burrito which is really good. Every single item is fresh and taste so good, and healthy also. My wife is Gluten free( celiac ) and they have huge selection for that. I still want to try one of the burgers. I would definitely highly recommend this place. For the price you pay, you can't complain on the amount of food you receive. read more

First visit. My daughter and I had an early dinner when the place is not packed. I have not been in because normally there is no place to sit. Seems to be a big take-out place. I had the Lechon. I have been hooked on Versailles lechon for decades, but they closed their Manhattan Beach location. I had high hopes, but the pork was dry and not drowning in the garlic sauce that I loved at Versailles. I did love the fried bananas though! My daughter had a salmon bowl. It was delicious. We both loved the sauce it was in. The bottom line for this place is that it is very high quality food, and a decent amount of it too. Walked in on a Monday afternoon at around 1ish or later and the small place was packed. Rabano is definitely a fast casual restaurant, but it also has healthy, fresh food using sustainable ingredients and methods. It's a great place for vegetarians/vegans and meat eaters alike! As long as you like fresh, fast, healthy and good food. ORDERING: I really like how this place utilizes iPads to order food and it has all the pictures of each dish and you can easily customize everything. This is a great way to speed up lines and automate ordering. INSIDE: The place is a little small, especially for the crowd it draws. You really have to wait out a table to sit down most of the time, but there's very little room to stand on the side and wait. People normally just sit across and next to strangers too on the tables; it's a normal occurence. FOOD: I love the diversity of this menu. We talked to the owner for a bit the first time we went there. He was a really nice man from South America, but ethnically Chinese. I thought it was very interesting, but the origin of his menu makes a bit more sense. There are various dishes that are Korean, Peruvian, Chinese, American, etc. I love that everyone can get something different, but everything is tied together in the fresh ingredients and the healthy preparation of the dishes. Ahi Poke: Large pieces of tuna, great portion, and pretty fresh. El Koreano: I really enjoyed this dish with the ancient grains. The meat was pretty high quality, and it was more of like steak meat than regular bulgolgi meat. Lechon Cubano: Amazing dish. I love cuban food, so this was delicious. It is reasonably priced and comes with so much food. The pulled pork, beans, rice, and plantains are all very well-made and seems pretty authentic. Uber cool CTPB: I am a big fan of pesto chicken sandwiches and this definitely lived up to expectations. I was disappointed earlier in the week by a bad sandwich, but this gave me hope for sandwiches again. Love this place so much. Really nice owner, great philosophy, and delivers a great product. Only complaint is that it is a little small, but that can't be helped and things move fast anyways. read more

My family and I order from here often! You really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Even the vegetarian options are great! Any protein can be substituted with a meat alternative. They have American, Peruvian, Thai, etc dishes! If your friend group cant design on a specific cuisine, I would recommend going to Rabanos. The spicy edamame wontons are perfect little bite before your meal! I especially love ordering them with my pick up order to nibble on them on the way home. Considering this was the venerable Chongs, we had high expectations from Rabano which we waiting forever to open. I happy to say it was worth the wait. We went today to find a very busy lunch crowd enjoying what I think was missing down here. A farm to table fresh lunch at an affordable price. It does it all. Deb had the steak salad and loved it. Sliced and surrounded by veggies with the best pickles ever. I went Uber Cool chicken sandwich. It was fantastic other than the tomatoes could have been riper (I'll give a pass in February), but overall the sandwich was a huge winner. Served with a side fresh salad, it's enough for anyone to fill up on. The Bahn Mai was next to me and will be my next up. Drinks are really well thought out and delIsh. I had the hibiscus lemonade, but they have a full range of beverages to suit everyone. One tiny criticism is if you serve a steak salad, provide steel utensils to cut it with. We yelped up a vegan - friendly place and Rabanos came up. We were pleasantly surprised with the offerings, and despite them working with Yelp to achieve prime ad space, there were actually a good amount of vegan items. Think of this as your ethnic, lesser known Mendocino Farms with lower prices, and you have Rabanos, 100%. (BTW, I love Mendocino Farms, so it was no surprise I liked their concept, motto, and food as well) I'm plant based, occasionally vegetarian, and the bf thought it would be a nice gesture on our belated "bumming it" v-date to eat all veggie with me. So here goes... We got: Tofubella Sandwich - 4.5/5 This is an all vegan sandwich, no mods needed, and it definitely took us by suprise. We unanimously agreed the pickled veggies made it very unique, both the grilled firm tofu and portabella had a great char and bite to them, and the merriment of all the veggies, textures and sauces were on point. Served on a toasted ciabatta. Veggie peeps, please pick this over the greens burger! Green Burger - 3.5/5 Also another all vegan option, it has a garden veggie pattie made with lentils and quinoa and to be honest, it's not my cup of tea. It's good for what it's made of, but not what it's meant to replicate (raise your hands if you think also associate a burger with umaminess and "meat", although I love almost all beet patties, probably preference haha) I've had these types of patties before, and it was a bit under seasoned and broke apart too easily which made it hard to eat. The fixings is standard with vegan mayo, onions, greens, and tomatoes. Edamame Wontons - 4/5 These are very good but tiring after a few bites. They're fried edamame mushroom filled woton fritters dressed in a spicy sweet and sour. I think I would have liked the sauce presented on the side as some pieces seemed drenched and I'm not a huge fan of sweet and sour in excess. Has parm, so omit if you want to avoid dairy, and check if the wonton skin has eggs or uses sealant. (Forgot to ask) Rabanos Fries - 3/5 I would recommend to skip on these unless you just want a value basket of fries. Their fries are average and very heavy feeling (oily) especially with the aji verde sauce and that eggy yellow sauce (sorry, peruvian folks). The peppers were a nice added touch, but they aji and yellow sauce were used very sparingly on the surface; while that worked out great for me to avoid, the bf felt like it was skimpy. He asked for more on the side. Overall verdict: 4.5 The pricing is very fair for the quality of their entrees, their locally sourced ingredients, and location. That, plus the friendly and efficient staff and veggie options here have me a fan! Will be back to try more dishes :) read more

Literally one of the best Chinese Chicken salads I have had. The ingredients are so fresh, the free-range chicken is cooked well and the sesame ginger dressing was perfection and really added to the full flavor. The size was really good too! I also ordered the Raspberry lemonade and it delicious. The staff are also friendly so that was a cherry on top. My husband got the Sustainable Salmon and I'm sad I missed a picture of it. He devoured it too fast! He said he would order that each time we come back. My grandma got the cauliflower soup and it was a nice size but it was so good that it was gone once I blinked and looked back. Haha. Rabano's is a new restaurant by the same owner of Chong's (the former restaurant in this same location) and China Grill, however it is a totally different concept. All of their ingredients are farm fresh and sourced from local farms, and their menu is so diverse, everyone in your party can enjoy a different cuisine! The owner was greeting customers at the door so he walked us through the menu and the ordering process -- they have tablet ordering stations right under the menu board that allow you to make substitutions on protein, add-ons, rice/ancient grains/greens or 1/2 and 1/2 to customize your meal to exactly what you want. It was a tough decision, but I ended up choosing the Lechon Cubano, Cuban style pulled pork which was nicely seasoned and tender, with 1/2 rice and 1/2 greens, black beans and plantains. My friend ordered the Pork Belly Knockout, which was also amazingly good. They also make their own fresh sodas. Parking is plentiful but seating is limited, and apparently the news is getting around on this new place, so get there early to get a table if you have a group. I asked to removed the fries from the burrito (my bf is diabetic) and substitute for black beans and she made a huge deal about it on the phone. Their website lets you take out any ingredient you don't want but apparently if you call, they make it difficult for you. They were making such a big stink about it I decided not to press on. I've eaten here many times and gotten the same thing with the same request and has no issues before--looks like they need a new manager. read more

Love this little casual restaurant on the corner of Artesia and PCH. If paying by credit card, you order at the IPads at the entrance. And order is delivered to your table. Wow! If you are in the South Bay you have to try this place! I can't get enough of this place. Every meal I've tried taste great! I've tried 3 dishes in 2 days and have not been disappointed yet. Every meal is full of flavor. You get to customize your meal depending on your diet. I feel healthy eating anything there. Taste is great! Portion is great! Price is reasonable! SO SO happy I found this spot. I was craving some "healthier" bowls and found this spot while shopping around Manhattan beach. The cashier recommend the Lomo Saltado, which was amazing. I usually ask for light on fries but extra green (cilantro?) sauce on the side. I've tried the salmon bowl and the Thai chicken curry, which were both decent. The thai curry flavoring is a lot stronger and reminds me more of Indian curry than Thai IMO. I was also pleasantly surprised by the milk teas as well. It's not a traditional milk tea you would find at an actual boba shop, but wasn't too bad either! Highly recommend if you're in the area :) read more

Pricey for what you get, AND it's a fast food style restaurant, AND they don't do an amazing job overall. I got the sandwich with the pork belly in it. I only got 3 pieces of pork belly in my sandwich! It's not even a premium piece of meat! Two things they did well: fries and minor customization on the self-serve screens. Being an Ex Food Spotter on restaurant's in California I was was extremely surprised of the quality of their Shrimp Tacos. After experiencing great tasting home made tacos (3) from a Food Truck in Compton/Paramount area just two days ago that were so freakin tasty and I only paid $3 per taco that were FRESH as can be, versus Rabano Shrimp Tacos (2) at $5.50 per taco that were rubbery. ... I've been trying out GF restaurants lately and was contemplating whether I should chance it on a busy Saturday night. So glad I did. I convinced the fam to check it out with me. We loved it! Rabano's has a tasteful, modern look with a friendly staff. The place was hoppin' busy with takeout orders, so our 3 orders came out separately. But it was definitely worth the wait. I ordered the Thai Chicken curry and I loved the presentation with a whole sliced chicken breast sliced on top, so no mystery meat buried in curry sauce. It came with a spicy sauce condiment which gave it a little extra kick. I love the fact that this was not all Vegan and GF, and you can choose bowl options such as rice, ancient grains or raw greens. The kid ordered the super juicy Wow Burger and he rated it as one of the best burgers he's had. The Pork Belly with raw greens was tasty and filling. We also ordered a side of the yummy yukon potato fries which came with 3 sauces. (Note: the orange pepper one is a little spicy for those sensitive. ) At the end of our meal, we happened to meet the friendly owner Fernando. Super nice.
