This little hole in the wall Thai place really knows how to pack the flavors! They do spicy scale on Thai and not American scale so if you like mild Thai spice, this may not be the place for you. I usually order medium spice (3 on a 5 point scale) and here the 1 had my mouth tingling! For spice lovers-- you are going to LOVE this spicy scale! I ordered the pineapple curry with tofu and brown rice. It was quite possibly the best pineapple curry I have ever had! It was spicy for sure, but nicely balanced. I was glad I had a coconut water to help my mouth recover in between bites. Their brown rice is more of a wild rice and had more flavor than I had been expecting. They do have VERY limited seating here with only about a dozen seats at the bar, right across from where they are cooking. Plan ahead because the wait for a seat can be as long as 1 hour or even more. You can also call ahead to order takeout and skip the wait. I walked in, realized the wait was too long for my lunch break, and ordered takeout there. It was about a 20 min wait for my food but then I was able to eat it in my car. When the weather is nicer, there are several public benches nearby that would also work. read more

What some folks find annoying about Rachawadee I find quite charming: it's a true small, family-owned, small-town business and their hours aren't the most predictable thing on the planet. But if you get there and find them open, by all means head in and find yourself a spot at the tiny counter - where the cooking and prep all goes on right in front of you and the smells are intoxicating enough to make you salivate for your order to arrive. I've been there twice now and both times enjoyed an amazing meal. The green papaya salad is true, fresh amazingness - cool, crisp, spicy, and bathed in a magical sweet/savory/salty dressing that I would buy by the bottle if they sold it that way. The tom yum soup is no slouch, either. Prepared from scratch and perfectly spiced, it's one of the best I've had (and believe me, I'm a bit of a tom yum addict). On my more recent visit, we enjoyed a spicy beef salad that was dressed with that same perfect dressing I'd enjoyed previously, as well as a chicken pad see ew with the freshest, chewiest noodles and crisp stir-fried veggies. A note of warning on their star system: I usually order 4 stars at Thai joints, and would not go over 1.5 stars here. I imagine I would end up in the ER if I ordered more than 2. To preface this review, I am currently amidst a chronic mental breakdown as I await test results from an exam that has put the fear of God in me for the last two years. I was getting coffee from a cafe down the road when I thought, wow. The comfort of thai food should cushion the crippling anxiety I am experiencing right now. I've heard great things about this restaurant, and boy oh boy they delivered. The man out front asked for my name, to which he responded, "you seem more normal than the *insert my name* I dated. Once you've been stalked a few times, it gets old." I was speechless, and I'm so glad he shared that tidbit with me. Really brought some comfort to get a sneak peek into this man's life. Made me feel at home. The wait was about half an hour, which was fair. When I received my meal, I dove right in. The noodles were so silky. It was shocking honestly. It was like a French kiss going down my throat and into my stomach. It was the intimacy I never thought I needed from some Thai food. The spice was perfect, however they like to ramp it up there, so if you order a 1 star, it really means you're ordering a 2-3 star. I scarfed down the meal, which I think is where I went wrong. Unbeknownst to me, those French kissing noodles were so silky they slipped all the way through my GI tract and made love in my exit chamber. Had to lead-foot it home to save my pants. Compared to LA, this the only great Thai place I have tried in this region. Everything is made fresh on the spot. Their pad thai is better than most. Noodles are firm, just the right amount of Tamarind, sweet and salty and umami. The Kra Pao over rice is amazing. There's only a counter for sitting and it's always full so count on taking your food to go and eating at the new tables along the river or at home or the ferry landing! read more

Literally the best Thai food I've ever had. After having tried out Rachawadee other Thai food places just don't compare anymore. For a really small restaurant the food is very fresh, the atmosphere is clean, and service is friendly. I've never been much of a pad thai fan but ever since I tried it here I come back for it every time. Some places make theirs too sweet and some too sour but this place hits the nail right on the head with their flavors. Careful when ordering the spiciness tho, they use true Thai levels of heat. I'm a person that usually orders a 4/5 stars at other places find two stars here pretty spicy. This place is a must go and you must have their pad thai and kee-mow. read more

Good place for Thai with a bunch of little Thai ladies cooking the food. Flavors were authentic and the prices are cheap. Heat levels are on point with real Thai food, not Americanized. Nice char on the noodle of my kee mao, lots of veggies, and just a large amount of food in general. I couldn't finish the whole plate. Small little place that gets REALLY busy so your wait times for take out can be long. But my wait in the restaurant was more than reasonable given how busy it was. Unlike my favorite Thai place in Seattle, this place will actually cook your food first if you're eating in. Not make you wait forty minutes like those ordering takeout. Props for that. read more

Favourite place in Skagit for authentic pad see ew and pad Thai! We order from here regularly. Definitely listen to them when they say their spice level is much higher than most restaurants. I usually get a 4/5 and I always get 2/4 here. Flavours in the curries are good too but, for some reason, they add a lot of mixed veggies that are otherwise not traditionally found in them (e.g. corn, broccoli, carrot, zucchini, etc.) so just be aware of that and ask to sub them out if that's not your thing! They also won't give you extra lime wedges even when you ask/offer to pay extra, so keep some on hand at home if you like your dishes limey. read more

This is the one of the BEST thai restaurants in WA! Their spicy level is intense... 1 star spicy is 3-3.5 at other places so be warned (though they will forewarn you). Their ambience is awesome located in downtown you walk in sit by the one long table with strangers watching your food being made. They are very busy. But watching them cook owner taking orders, working etc make your time go by fast. I had Phad Kee Mao and it was THE BEST I've had PERIOD. Very excellent. The food is great, prepared right in front of you by a gang of enthusiastic Thai ladies. The seating is as if you are in an old diner, just a row of bar stools and a counter, so quite small. But it's utterly charming. I'm not even sure I'm judging the food with the harsh eye I usually bring because I loved the atmosphere so much. I badly wanted to take back a star for the ridiculous hours and lack of alcohol. But alas I could not muster the cruelty. It closes at 8 pm (!) and they stop serving at like 745 (!!). And closed all weekend. It's maddening. The food is also insanely hot. A 2.5/5 spice level is easily hotter than 95% of Thai places, and I have serious spice street cred. To not serve beer with it is profoundly vulgar. read more

One of the best Thai meals I have had. This place is very small with only a counter to sit. We waited less than 10 minutes for our seats. Now that I have eaten here i would wait much longer. The waitress advised us to order one star since the food here tends to be really spicy. We took her advise and I am glad we did! All cooking is done in plain sight of customers so there is a bit of a show along with your meal.
