Okay, so I was a bit skeptical when someone recommended this restaurant because A. i've never met a thai person, let alone another asian person living in MTV and B. I've been to thailand and had some incredible thai food which would be very hard to top. but lemme tell you... their pad thai is pretty up to par with some of the food I had in thailand. granted, it's about 5x more, but definitely worth it when i start craving pad see ew. I've had a couple of their dishes, but my favorite is the pad see ew with tofu. I usually get 2 stars and ask them to go light on the sauce. anyhow, if you havent been... or if you've never tried thai food... the stop by for a visit. also, it gets a little cray during lunch hours so call ahead, or come either before or after the lunch rush. read more

Takes care of everyone there including incoming calls and to-go orders. He's a beast at multi-tasking, saw him in action several times. This is literally one of the best Asian restaurants in Washington. They have good prices for amazing food, and their soups are exceptional. When you go here, order the guay tiay nam at level 1 spicy. Amazing Thai restaurant tucked into downtown Mount Vernon. I've visited a lot in the last 6 years and it never disappoints. Prepare to wait a bit for takeout or to get a seat as this place is TINY. Since I don't live in Mount Vernon and because of the varied hours, I haven't been to Rachawadee as much as I would like. The hours are tough to hit just right, but when the stars align and the doors are open... it is a good day! I recently went on a Friday afternoon, arriving at 4:55 (they open at 5:00) to find that all of the seats were full and that I would have to wait. While I waited, the phone rang practically off the hook with endless to go orders where the staff told people on the phone it would be a 20 minute, 30 minute, 50 minute, quickly jumping to a 1 1/2 hour wait. I was seated around 5:30 and ordered the red curry with fresh tofu and a Thai iced tea. As always, it was full of complex flavors, delicious and fresh. Well worth the wait! I have also had their pad Thai, pad kee mao and fresh spring rolls. I have never been disappointed by the food, just the closed sign. I love this place! read more

This place is legit. Best Thai in all of Skagit and Whatcom. Crispy spring rolls, the homemade plum sauce has hints of ginger that pairs well with the basil in the fresh rolls, and the pad Thai had enough veggies loaded with tofu and seafood. It took us 30 min to get home, and even by the time we ate, the noodles hadn't clumped together into one big glue ball like most other Thai places. I first came here shortly after returning from three weeks in Thailand, where I was guided by a Chiang Mai native to many amazing meals. Despite that, my first meal here was amazing and so has every subsequent one. That same Thai friend proclaimed this the best Thai food he's ever had in the states. Start off low on the spice levels, they have a sign warning you for a reason. People need to be understanding about their hours - they have family with health problems. Just in town for the tulip festival and chose it due to Yelp reviews. It was delicious! I ordered Green Curry and my friend ordered Tom Kha soup. The veggies were fresh, cooked just right, varied, and plentiful. The chicken was tender and fresh. The spice and herb balance was nicely done. The quantity was large and rice was included in the price (even brown rice!). The entire lunch was enjoyable. The main reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the recipe was so unique, that although DELICIOUS, I wouldn't necessarily identify with the recipe as green curry. I've had a LOT of green curry, in MANY restaurants in widely varying levels of authenticity, but I wouldn't say this was the most recognizable representation of the dish. By far. I feel like I ordered something else. *A* fabulous curry, yes. But not your fantasy source for The Green. The Tom Kha WAS recognizable as Tom Kha, but wasn't the most complex flavor balance I've ever had. Not to regret the choice, but will be ordering something different next time. Second (minor) issue is that it's a tiny place where you mostly do pickup, and the lunch wait is pretty long. Plan ahead to coordinate your order timing to work with your schedule. I don't think this is a big flaw, because a great restaurant deserves to be busy. Note: As is the case in many of the better Thai restaurants, 1-2 stars is quite hot for most pansymouths (some people are parselmouths, so don't feel bad it could be worse!).
