Great food and ambience. The menu features American staples for breakfast and lunch as well as Egyptian food. I loved the French toast! Stopped in with my partner for a lunch date but would definitely go back with him and friends again. The owner's daughter manages the restaurant and owns/runs the coffee shop. She makes unique, homemade latte ingredients/blends. Very creative and worth a try. Great service as well! read more

We decided to get out of the house on a day we were working from home and try this place for lunch. It's a cute place with indoor and outdoor seating and an attached coffee shop. You have to park in the parking lot or structure behind the building and they validate, but the food is nothing that would get me to return and the prices were ridiculous. The black bean soup was just canned black beans warmed up for $10. The pick two lunch combo gets you half a sandwich, a salad or soup but is $18 and a total rip off because the full sandwiches are $16-$19 and come with a side. So the lunch combo gets you the same limp mixed green salad and a tiny cup of soup for $18. Offensive. We left unimpressed by the food and suruprised by the price of that lunch combo compared to the portion and quality of the food. read more

"Monday at lunch and Rafael's Kitchen was hopping busy, which was nice to see, so it must be good," I thought to myself. You can get lemon in your water if you ask for it - nice. You can get avocado toast for lunch, no problem. It was delicious with arugula, grape tomatoes, and a splash of balsamic vinegar and olive oil. You can get it with an optional egg, but I wasn't having the egg that day. Seating outside on the patio in the winter California sun was nice, too. Rafael's Kitchen recently replaced Roquette's & it does NOT disappoint. I visited on a chilly Saturday evening with a friend & we were able to pick from their March Pre Fixe Menu, it was definitely different to choose because there were a lot of great options but we were more than satisfied with everything. Shawn is super kind, welcoming, & personable -- making sure to check on us frequently to make sure everything was to our liking. We sat outside on the patio with one of the space heaters so despite it being chilly, it made for a very cozy evening (the music was great too) We started with the Bruschetta, Ricotta and Prosciutto Crostini, & a bottle of Prosecco. The bruschetta & crostini were both a 10/10, the crostini was toasted perfectly and the balsamic drizzle was the perfect touch. The Chicken Piccata was definitely one of the best that I've had. The sauce was impeccable, the noodles & chicken were cooked to perfection and the portion was such a good size that I was able to take some home and enjoy it just as much (maybe a little more?) the next day -- 10/10 My friend ordered the Red Wine Braised Short Rib Spaghetti which was also divine, not too rich and the short rib was so so tender -- 9.5/10 We ended the night with both the crème brûlée & the chocolate chip sundae -- both were winners but I can't stop thinking about how soft & moist that cookie was, paired with the ice cream and fresh berries made it the perfect dessert. My wife and I have been going to Rafael's for a couple of years. Since the location change we have noticed small changes, and the changes aren't good. We bought a small pizza with pepperoni, meatballs and pineapple. The amount of cheese was much less than usual and the meatballs were few and far between. One piece of meatball per slice. The ranch dressing container that comes with the salad got smaller and it wasn't enough for the salad. It was very dry. When paying $34 dollars for a small pizza and salad we expect premium toppings and adequate dressing. Not sure why the location moved but we are not happy and will take our business elsewhere. read more

This was the former Roquette Bistro. It changed hand and now is Rafael's Kitchen. It used to be more French leaning, this new one is more Italian leaning. The service was good. One of our sandwich was more salty than what my friend used to, so the owner offered to let my friend picked something else instead. The restaurant decor did not changed. We ordered a Pastrami sandwich, a French Toast with berries, a Ham and Cheese Quiche, a Farmer Boy Omelets. Food was decent, price was very reasonable.
