This place is fantastic !! My partner and I were doing a really long walk and began to get hungry so feeling in a healthy mood we wanted something light and fresh. Mediterranean came to mind so I did a quick yelp search and this came up. It blew my mind $7.99 for a Doner Kabab sandwich. We asked to have it cut in half and were surprised to see how huge it was. Not to mention the owner came out and gave us free pita and hummus on the house. The food was excellent the service was excellent and I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area. The donor is on point, as is the grilled chicken/chicken kabob. Luleh is great too; really no complaints about the place. Note that the donor (and some other sandwiches) come with jalapenos (which add a great flavor): if you're averse to spicy ask them to leave them off! read more

We're visiting Burbank from Australia and we're hungry without a car late at night. We're familiar with Iranian food as we are middle eastern and saw some great meals on the menu. We ordered (through the app 10 minutes before the cafe closed) 3 of the lule kabob plate with a cucumber and yogurt salad. We absolutely devoured the food. By far the best koobideh (kabob) I have had in a very long time. The salad, rice and tomato was also so delicious. Yogurt and cucumber salad was mouth watering and I couldn't get enough. Otherwise known as "Pizza Kebob" my daughter and I discovered this place while driving through Burbank. It is a tiny hole in the wall in a corner strip mall. I am a bit confused by previous reviews as I discovered the chefs to be Armenian, not Persian. Picture a cadre of Armenian grandfathers who like to cook. They make tomato sauce from scratch, pizza from fresh, homemade ingredients, meat dishes and salads. Order a side of their stuffed grape leaves (dolma) and put a few drops of lemon juice on them when you get home. Sensational. Next time I go here I plan to order a pizza to go to bring to my son's acting coach and her staff. I have been coming to Rafo's for a long time and had to share the love I have for one of my favorite hidden gems in Burbank! This little place is tucked away in a mini mall on the corner of Olive and Victory so slow down if you're looking for it. The service is great and they always make me feel welcome. I should probably try something new but I always get the doner plate and sandwich and the lule kabob. Not only are the prices reasonable, but the portions are extremely generous and the meat is tender and flavorful--exactly what you want from a yummy, decadent plate of shawarma! All the plates come with a huge helping of delicious rice and a portion of fresh salad with cucumbers, tomatoes and the best salad dressing I've ever had! Seriously, my kids will actually eat salad with this dressing--get the house dressing, it's that good! read more

I decided to grab a quick donor sandwich on my lunch break and was unfortunately disappointed. Pros: -Portion was pretty big and was a sufficient amount to fill you up. Cons: -The condiments were limited. -Sauce was not enough -MOST IMPORTANTLY, meat seemed to be old. My first bite consisted of crunchy and dry pieces, which are signs of old meat. I believe they simply warmed up some leftover meat from the day before and wrapped it in the sandwich. Overall, it filled me up and I ate it ONLY because I was very hungry and did not have enough time to commute to a different restaurant. I would STRONGLY NOT RECOMMEND this place to anybody unless you are present during the entire process of fulfilling your order. I just moved down the street and tried it for the first time ! Of course I'm middle eastern Armenian so I have high expectation and I can say for a small cafe the food was amazing ! The chicken Kebob plate was delicious ! I also tried the hummus and it was really good, not everyone can make hummus to the point, but I can say I truly loved the taste . Yo, these 3 older men take their cuisine seriously! The quality and presentation of the food clearly reflects the pride they take in their cooking. Boyfriend and I ordered the combo plate $12 with a side of their cream sauce for the gods (parsley/vinegar/garlic?). Cuts of charbroiled chicken and sirloin were cooked to tender perfection. The rice and salad tasted fresh and clean. We shared the plate and 2 pitas and were stuffed. We are so pleased and will definitely be back. Been here a couple of times now. The food is good, but sometimes inconsistently cooked ( one time my food was over cooked..another time undercooked). Wish they had better communication in their kitchen. Don't come during their lunch hour- the rush will give you anxiety for them and make you feel like you're working just to get your food lol. Just ate their Margherita pizza and mild wings. Their wings are juicy and tender and their pizza is the best I have ever had in California. The crust is consistent and had the perfect crunch, the sauce tastes fresh and not processed and the cheese is just right. Definitely a must for anyone who likes real pizza. I went here for lunch while my truck was getting serviced at the Chevy dealership up the street. This place has regulars and they swear by it. I, however, will never go back. I ordered the donair plate, which is actually the lunch special. But the unfriendly dude behind the counter charged me full price because I didn't know better at the time.
