The BEST Rainforest experience ever! We've been to them all over the US. This is the only one that has Pandas as well which is super cool! The restaurant is directly on the San Antonio Riverwalk. The food was perfectly seasoned, fresh, served hot and tasted delicious. We had the awesome adventure appetizer, Rasta Pasta (my absolute favorite), the Pastalaya, Top Sirloin and the kids ate cheese pizzas. The server was really nice and efficient. 1st time here and probably our last sadly to say, let's just say that our wait time for everything was way too long, but we kept our cool and luckily was not in a rush to go anywhere. We were excited too because we always wanted to try it. The decore looked outdated or faded like if you was turn on all the lights you could see how dusty it was. The huge animals all around was a nice touch. They play this thundering roaring segment like every hour or so it's very loud so just be prepared for that. As we were waiting to be seated "the hostess" was not approachable. She sat us and didn't even give us kids menu seeing that our party of 7 included children. As we went to wash our hands and utilize the facilities still no "wait staff" came to take our drink orders. We watched two tables come after us and was being helped. 20-25 minutes passed we stopped a waiter and asked if he knew who our waiter was, than asked me how long have we been here, (trying to keep my cool) I politely say before both those tables. Went in the afternoon on a Friday and there was no wait time. We were greeted by a nice and friendly server (her name was Destiny) about 5-10 minutes after they sat us down, which is no problem because that allowed us to figure out what to drink. After we ordered, our food took about 20 minutes, which is ok because I'm sure restaurant food isn't made in a few minutes like a fast food restaurant. Now, This was our first time we took our son (who is a 3 year old toddler) and he enjoyed the coloring paper menu and the moving animals and theme. A terrific place to take your kids! We are actually just making jokes about how good he was, and then he comes back while having a conversation with another employee... You can't even make this stuff up. This place is an adventure. It's a little loud with the forest sounds especially went the "storm" turns on. It can get you off guard. Food was great drinks are good and you can take the cups as souvenirs. Service was a little wait. That's usually for a popular place like this. It isn't quite as impressive but it was still a fun place to go for dinner. We ordered the chicken caesar salad, the shrimp tacos and motz sticks. The food was decent but it was a bit salty. (Honestly you go here for the experience, not the food.) FYI: during covid they were not taking reservations over the phone and the only way to dine here is to put your name down and wait about an hour or two. Absolutely do not recommend extremely rude staff. Wait estimate was wrong and we asked and said it's almost ready and paiged is 5 minutes later. Don't eat here. The wait is too long (an hour+), the food is bad quality, and it's expensive. There is no reason to eat here when the entire rest of the Riverwalk is available! I stopped by around 12:30pm on a Saturday. The wait was estimated to be 1 hour to 1.5 hours. It ended up being about 50 minutes, but I could hear the wait was going up and up for the parties that visited the host after me. I was seated and SHOOK when I saw the prices. $14 for JUST chicken strips?? (No sides) Rainforest Cafe is easily $20+ per person. Which makes no sense because the food tasted really bad. The taste and presentation of all the food I saw was bad. I saw some pasta being served and it looked as if the pasta was depressed. If you're coming here, I guess it's to watch the animals whoop and move every ten minutes. Doesn't look like much in front and I was dying of hunger. I was very disappointed with the one hour wait to get seated for me and my son. It took additional 30 minutes to get our order in as well. We ordered burgers and fries. I don't think it's worth the wait at all. There's way more better places to get burgers and fries . So total time spent here just to get a simple burger and fries was 2 1/2 hours for just burgers and fries. I'm disappointed with this place. Went their for my sons birthday because thats our tradition , this place is sad the only thing that shined was Gary's attitude and helpfulness...The server had know clue about the menu items as he told us something different about a menu item that wasnt true , also forgot our plates for volcano and no refills. When they brought my sons volcano out I literally had to yell out volcano as they were coming , if not they would have kept silently bringing it as if it were a casket , it was only after I said volcano out loud they got the clue to start saying it. As a matter of fact never once while I was in there did I ever hear anyone yell volcano and that in all my years I've never heard. This staff has been poorly trained no enthusiasm and it's not their fault poor training and motivation I asked the server about the LSC's and It's just seemed like it was something that was not important because their was no motivation to sell for a free meal or 25.00 reward. That's just lame set a goal for the month a the person that gets a 100 sales or highes past that gets a tv or game system after all just a hundred nets 2500.00 not to mention all the other sales of the servers that's thousands in rev not to mention earning spot in rankings for Lsc 's and bonuses for management. Like I said this place is slacking in training, initiative and spirit. The Gm needs to take a good at himself and think is this how really you pride your location,I get your sales are good because you in a busy spot , but that is chance of luck due to location not how you handle business because what I experienced was a let down to Laundry's and Tillman Fertittas name . Take some pride and motivate and train your staff it's just sad. Yes I worked for Laundry's and always gave it my best and people that know who I am know who I am because I always made a statement on my sales and service . The host said it was going to be a 45-2 hour amwait for party if 3! Had a few drinks at the bar, bartender was great! Only waited about 20 min and got sat on the third floor! Great atmosphere, it took us a second to get a waiter but when we did it was worth the wait ! "Allstate" was the best ! he got our food out to us and it was delicious! We took our kiddo for her 2nd bday ! This week I was invited by a friend to stroll the River Walk while enjoying the Holiday Lights downtown. The weather was a tad crisp so we ducked into the Rainforest Café for some relief from the chill and an opportunity to reflect on the holiday that was upon us. Initially I can say I wasn't impressed with the Café and almost tossed my cookies as a 40 foot mechanical Boa Constrictor suspended from the ceiling moved toward us. After gathering my bearings, we made our way upstairs to the restaurant and were seated in a rather empty restaurant. Our server Tony seated us and hurried off to join his comrades sing a round of Happy Birthday to a jumping toddler. As I scanned the room, I noticed another floating #1 balloon toward the rear and realized this atmosphere of mechanical lions roaring, apes beating their chest and rain forest sounds was suited for children and the poor parents that have to withstand the ridiculous scenery and noise to give them what they want. While Tony lost stars and cool points for "NEVER" coming to check on us or refill the lemonade, he did save my date when he informed him that the lemonade he selected would come in a $7.99 lighted cup. We quickly selected the other version (watered down I might add) and selected an entrée of chicken quesadilla and a simple hamburger. Unfortunately we were already seated before I clicked onto Yelp and saw the awful reviews and low Star Power. Sadly, I would be agreeing with other Yelpers about the poor food and bad service. We selected entrées that we thought they couldn't mess up but the food took almost 20 minutes to arrive and the quesadilla was dry and over cooked and arrived surrounded and dipped into the sour cream that we asked be taken off. On another note, the burger looked presentable and he seemed to enjoy it, but did say it wasn't much to write home about. While we waited on a new order of quesadilla to be prepared, I tried to enjoy our conversation but was so distracted by the monkeys and animals, dimming lights and booming noise I thought I was in an awful Disney movie. When Tony did arrive, we asked for a lemonade to go and had him box up the quesadilla and hightailed it out of there. It was supposed to have a bunch of vegetables. It has 2 pieces of broccoli. I had hot water with lemon. I was charged $3.75 for tea. My Grand liked her burger. Fries were not hot. Grand wanted dessert. The desserts had no prices. It came. It was a pile of ice cream with 3 OLD pieces of cake which were inedible. Charge for this 18.99. We smashed it and left. The only reason I am giving up to two stars is because the jungle theme. The food is less than optimal and the service is second-class. The waitress was kind, but the service was slow and careless. We ordered fish tacos and they were bitter. They come with beans, but we had to request silverware to eat them. When the spoons finally arrived, the beans were cold. Kids' food was substandard as well. It looked worst than a QuickTrip meal and was mediocre and they forgot to bring the kids juices and desserts. Finally, when the ice cream sandwiches arrived, they brought them again without silverware. So we requested them, and when the waitress came back, the ice cream was already melted and our kiddos had already started theirs and had their hands full of ice cream without napkins on the table. Not counting that the spoons were dripping water, and obviously we had to request napkins to dry the spoons, and they took forever again. We sat by the host station. At one point there were 6 servers standing at the host station by our table chatting. We had been sitting for a good 15 minutes and none of the staff even noticed that we had not been greeted, had no drinks or food. My husband asked one of the servers to please get our drinks. Worst service of our life! Two meals came out wrong out of 4 meals, one of the other two also came out cold but with warm fruit. ‍ Both of the orders made wrong were sent back but not with an apology but with MAJOR attitude and saying things like "I don't know how to please you people" after we simply just asked for it to be fixed. We found a coupon in our hotel lobby on the back of a local map of the River Walk that was good for a free appetizer up to $18 so we asked our server if we could pay the difference for the app that was $18.49 and she said yes (makes sense right?). Towards the end of our meal we were approached by the manager (Izzy) who didn't introduce himself and just very rudely said "your coupon is not good for the app you selected so you will have to pay for it." I explained to him that we were told by the server that we could pay the difference. He stormed off to find her and sent her back for the coupon. We never talked to him again but the server came and looked like she just got reprimanded. Izzy the manager ruined what was a very pleasant experience up until the point he interjected himself. It was very unprofessional and made for very uncomfortable situation for us and the server. If he has issue with the legal copy of the offer he should take it up with Laundry's corporate becaue that's what i intend to do. People like Izzy should not be customer facing or manage people. All of the props and decor certainly needs some dusting though, each floor is themed differently and certainly a fun little exploration, servers are fantastic, hostess is ok, food is absolutely disgusting and really overpriced. Whenever you go to the rainforest Café you are definitely not going for the food. The quality of the meals here is absolutely awful and everything is overpriced. What you're really going for is the environment, to see some cool animatronics and eat quesadillas in the dark. However, this particular rainforest café was pretty run down where even the animatronics looked like they were in bad shape. The restaurant was extremely crowded, and they put the tables too close together so that it was hard to even get in and out of your chair without bumping the table next to you. Overall it was pretty disappointing, but my kids thought it was the greatest thing ever because our table was next to the gorilla. read more
