That was a lovely meal. The potatoes and salad were unlike other dishes I've had. I enjoyed the noodles with mushrooms too. Delish!

Great food and even better service! We stopped in for dinner and were promptly seated, with a quick note to order at the counter. The cocktails are pre-batched, but don't let that fool you because they were all superb. The bartender did an excellent job bringing out the spices and nuanced flavors in each drink. For food, we ordered: Laphet/ Tea Leaf Salad kyet thar kyaw /Chicken and Rice Khao pyane sane All dishes were flavorful and beautifully balanced. What really stood out, though, was the exceptional service. The staff were genuinely kind and took the time to chat with us about the drinks ,they could tell how much we were enjoying them! A wonderful spot all around with great food, thoughtful drinks, and warm, engaging service. Highly recommend!

Great Burmese food in the breathe building off Hawthorne. Perfect place for a snack / meal after yoga. All the dishes I've had here a good. Prices reasonable and spice level is just right. They are moving a few blocks east in Mar 2026

Rangoon Bistro is a very good and very charming local spot. VERY unique menu (be sure to get the giant dumpling), and expertly-cooked food. Portion sizes are generous, and perfect for sharing. The fried chicken was a particular standout...VERY crispy and very well-prepared. Parking is street-only, and the area is VERY busy, so be prepared to park a few blocks (or more) away. I highly recommend stopping in for some outstanding food (and a restroom in the adjoining yoga studio...quaint).

A laid back Burmese spot with delicious salads! The texture and flavor combos in both the Tea Leaf and Ginger Salads were very nice. Easily my favorite dishes of the night. The Beef Curry and Fried Chicken were decent. Found the meat to be a tad dry but flavors were good and really enjoyed the coconut rice. Mushroom Noodles were tasty too. Noodles were well-cooked. Staffs were friendly and helpful with peanut allergies. It's a fun and unique meal but I'm not rushing to go back.

We got the tea leaf salad, ginger salad, fried chicken, mushroom noodles, and the beef and potato curry. The salads were absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend - the mixture of textures were delightful. The mushroom noodles were the definite standout though! I was disappointed by the beef and potato curry- the beef seems quite dry and the dish was nothing special but everything else was a hit! The portion sizes were also quite generous.

I'm a sucker for good Burmese food. I always must have my fix when visiting Portland! We stopped by here after hanging around Mt. Tabor since it was conveniently nearby. We got tea leaf salad, fried potatoes, 3 pc chicken with coconut rice, and beef curry. Everything was DELICIOUS, we over-ordered, but no regrets at all. Service was good. Great inside decor, however the bathroom was also shared with a gym locker room, so not the most convenient, but fine nevertheless. Would come back if I'm in the area!

Fantastic! This is the second time I have been, and I was blown away by the food. It's so good and definitely a little different from your average restaurant. Went for a work dinner, we ended up getting some of everything, and I loved it all. Order at counter and they bring it out to your table, super fast service for a bigger group (7) which was great!

This small restaurant had tables and counters set up for customers and it was busy. They were very efficient in taking orders at the counter and bringing the food out as it's ready. We ordered a few different things to share with our group. A large dumpling, a spicy carrot salad, two orders of fried chicken with coconut rice, and a pork noodle dish. Plenty of food and it was all delicious.

Good atmosphere and nice staff. We got the giant dumpling and potatoes for appetizers. The dumpling was a little heavy on the vinegar but the seasoning on the potatoes were amazing! For entree we got the ribs, pork noodles, and fried chicken. Good flavors and portions. Overall: 7/10, Get the potatoes.

My curious friend and I decided to try Rangoon Bistro for Burmese food, and we were not disappointed! You order inside at the counter, choose a table inside or outside on the patio, then a server will bring your food and clean your table afterwards. The person who took our order was friendly and offered helpful suggestions. We shared the Lahpet Salad which had a unique combination of green tea leaves, shredded cabbage, crunchy peanuts, and garlic and fish oil. I also ordered the Shan Khao Swe - rice noodles, pork, mustard greens and peanuts, and a large dumpling which was indeed, gigantic! We enjoyed our meals and liked the interesting flavors and added crunch from the peanuts. Definitely check this place out!

Experience: I visited Top Burmese for dinner with a friend and was thoroughly impressed by the entire experience. This was both of our first times. I am vegan while my friend is not and we had no struggle finding options that suited our needs. What stood out: Service: The staff was knowledgable and checked in on us frequently. Our food only took about 20 minutes to come out despite a busy dinner rush and we were offered chili flakes to spice up our curries. was incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed. Food: For the table, we ordered the samosas which were perfectly flaky and filled with fresh veggies. I ordered the ruby garden non alcoholic beverage as well as the tofu curry with coconut rice. Every bite and drink of what I ordered tasted unique and made with intention. The samosas were incredible dipped into what tasted like a sweet and sour chili sauce. My tofu curry and coconut rice had a delightful blend of textures and tasted like no other curry I have ever had before. Ambiance: The atmosphere is so cozy with Burmese decor alongside dim lighting. It is perfect for a date night or catching up with a friend. Overall, I will be returning to Top Burmese to enjoy more of their vegan friendly curries and appetizers!

The garlic noodles were a tad too salty, but otherwise tasty. The chickpea tofu curry was also fantastic, coming with a tomato-y sauce -- the tofu was firm and had wonderful texture. Service was a bit slow but friendly. Price level is pretty high compared to other Burmese spots in town. But the quality is there. Recommended.

The menu was smaller than expected, but there was a fair amount of options for entrees and drinks. My friend and I opted to share a tea leaf salad, mushroom noodles, and a fried chicken dish. I thought the tea leaf salad was alright although the fish sauce component was strong and I couldn't have too much as a result. The mushroom noodles were tasty, but a bit on the salty side. My friend and I both enjoyed the fried chicken and coconut rice dish, which had a nice flavor and texture and was the highlight of our meal. I also got a palm soda, which was refreshing, while my friend had an iced Burmese tea, which she described as a mix of milk tea and thai tea. It had a nice fragrance & wasn't overly sweet. The main downside is we opted to sit outdoors and got a few bug bites, so that is something to keep in mind (depending on the time of the day or season). Portions were good and we had trouble finishing our dishes. Pricing for our food and drinks seemed reasonable. Overall, Rangoon Bistro seems like a pretty good spot for Burmese fried chicken and noodles.

Fried Chicken Roti Combo - holy fried chicken crispy, combo comes with 1x leg and 1x thigh cut into two pieces. Curry was delicious and balance, excellent when dipped with the crispy roti or fried chicken. Pickled veggies were a great pairing and sweet and sour added another dimension. 2. Pad Thai - glistening noodles served inside an egg omelet. Very solid pad thai - sweet, sour, salty. Don't forget to add the fresh shrimp, these were cooked perfectly and plump. I recommend the restaurant should take the shrimp tail shell off for us. 3. Thai Basil Lemonade - solid lemonade, NEED more basil flavor. Overall, I'd come here again to eat and try other items as well. I'll give it a 5 star for now but more 4.5.

Popped into Hat Yai this evening for the first time and very glad we did. The food was delicious…read moreand vibe was bustling. I'll start by saying this place is definitely not big so come with the expectation that you might have to wait for a table. There's only about 8-10 tables in the place and it's definitely geared towards smaller groups. Regardless we ordered at the front and then were able to find a seat. Wound up ordering the combo to try and get a taste of everything. The portions were solid and everything was super tasty. The chicken is perfectly breaded and delicious. It's a bit of a messy meal so just come with that in mind. Have a bunch of different options that also looked tasty. Will have to come back and try again. Service was fine. They were kind and cleared the table. Water is self serve at front of the restaurant and they clearly do a fair amount of takeout. Cool local spot to definitely check out.

A Flavorful Escape in Hillsboro! If you haven't made the…read moretrip to Top Burmese Ambassador on Main Street, you are missing out on one of the most unique and soulful dining experiences in the Portland area. While the original NW 21st location is a classic, the "Ambassador" location in Hillsboro feels like a true elevation of the brand, combining incredible hospitality with a menu that is a masterclass in Burmese flavors. Here is why this spot is an absolute 5-star gem: The Tea Leaf Salad (Laphet Thoke): You cannot visit a Top Burmese location without ordering this. It is the gold standard--fermented tea leaves mixed with crunchy peanuts, toasted sesame, fried garlic, and fresh lime. It's a texture and flavor explosion that is unlike anything else in Southeast Asian cuisine. The Golden Samosas: These are a "super duper" must-order. They are flaky, perfectly spiced, and served with a house-made sauce that provides the perfect tangy kick. If you want something even more comforting, their Samosa Soup is the ultimate rainy-day cure. Standout Mains: The Coconut Noodle Soup (Khao Soi) is incredibly rich and aromatic, with just the right amount of creaminess. For a more savory, hearty option, the Beef Curry with Pan-Toasted Paratha is spectacular--the beef is fork-tender and the paratha is buttery and crisp. The Service: The "Ambassador" name is fitting because the staff truly acts as ambassadors for their culture. They are incredibly patient in explaining the menu to newcomers and make excellent recommendations based on your spice tolerance. Atmosphere: The interior is beautifully designed--vibrant, warm, and upscale without being stuffy. It feels like a "mini-vacation" right in the heart of Hillsboro. Pro Tip: This location is incredibly vegan-friendly (about 70% of the menu can be made plant-based!), so it's the perfect spot for a group with diverse dietary needs. Don't leave without trying the Burma Blue cocktail--it's as beautiful as it is delicious!

4.5 stars!! This restaurant is a gem. This was my first experience with Burmese food and I must say…read morethat they did a very good job of showing their cuisine off. We ordered the green tea leaf salad, the turmeric fries, the chicken curry with paratha, the all-star okra curry, the coconut noodle soup, and the kheema paratha. I also tried the grass jelly drink. I can't choose my top favorite among everything that we tried. The green tea salad was very unique and I would never have ordered it myself. Now, I'm a fan. The turmeric fries were so delicious too! The chicken curry with the paratha was very Desi and excellent tasting. The okra had a homemade feel to it. I would've liked a side of paratha with it, rather than rice. The kheema paratha was excellent. The coconut noodle soup was like a nice warming/satisfying coconut curry with noodles. The grass jelly was interesting and I know that most of the jelly was left in the can, so while it is nice tasting, I wouldn't recommend drinking it in a can. The Hillsboro location is a little small but this restaurant and the server helping out are both an absolute delight and I highly recommend coming here!!
