My second time at Rao's, and it's always an experience. The food was spectacular as always, the company was amazing, and the staff are just incredible--like friends and family on a Sunday evening. The baked clams, calamari in red sauce, seafood in oil, and pastas were all finger-licking good. Must try: Meatball Absolutely must try: Salt and pepper shrimp--it's out of this world. Finished it off with blackberry ice cream, cheesecake, espresso, and a little Frangelico... just perfect.

. It's easy to get a super bowl ticket then getting a table at RAOS!

The Veal marsala, lemon chicken, spicy calamari, meatballs, Penne Vodka, Sausage with macaroni were all excellent dishes,The atmosphere was great. The service was unbelievable and so on, It's harder to get a table at RAOS then getting a super bowl ticket.

I've wanted to come here for so long, I was shocked when the restaurant was able to live up to the height. When you sit down and an older gentlemen grabs a chair and sits at your table, and then asks you what you'd like for dinner, you know you are in for a unique experience. We ordered way too much food, but truly everything was amazing. I hope I can come back some day

My experience was so amazing the warm intimate atmosphere and unmistakable air of exclusivity all added to the charm. The food was incredible, the seafood super fresh. Service was amazing, made me feel like a regular even on my first visit.

It's not what you know, it's who you know... Last night I was fortunate to have had a dining experience at Rao's, probably a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity (at least for me). Based on the reviews I didn't have very high expectations for this exclusive, historical, and family owned East Harlem hot spot. I was totally blown away... not only was the staff amazing and friendly, but each and every dish was delicious, all served family style. The Maitre d' sat with us and walked us through the different courses and options (there's no written menu). We started with the seafood salad and baked clams, followed by the pasta arrabiata and orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage, accompanied by the biggest and tastiest meatballs smothered in Rao's amazing sauce. For entrees we got the shrimp oreganata and veal with hot peppers. For dessert I tried the chocolate raspberry ice cream. The restaurant had a warm and intimate vibe. We even had a chance to visit the kitchen! I had such a lovely experience that I'm grateful for. Hopefully I'll be lucky enough to patronize this establishment again in the future.

Bucket list item for sure. Dining here was an incredible experience! The inside is small, only enough for about 10 groups at a time, but tables vary in size. Every staff member was incredibly kind (especially since I came straight from work and arrived a little early, and the rest of my party a little late, they sat me at the bar and had a lovely conversation with me while I waited even though they seemed to be extremely busy. There was no menu, the Maitre D' sat down with us at our table and told us our options for each course. He helped us develop a well rounded menu that would serve all of our tastes and it ended up being just enough for us four. Obviously the meatballs were incredible, but the veal over pasta was our favorite. I'm still dreaming about it!

The stars are for the amazing meatballs. Some of the best I've ever had, really delicious....as long as I don't think too much about the fact that they're made from veal. The pasta was extremely regular, something you'd make yourself in 10 minutes when you're feeling lazy and have jarred sauce on hand. The salad was salad, lots of iceberg lettuce, lots of raw onion to pick out. The lemon chicken was just disgusting. I hate food waste and feel guilty and time I have to throw food away, but neither my husband nor my son could finish a bite of it. The texture, the taste, the sauce....just terrible. Like most New Yorkers, I've held out hope that one day a nice mobster would invite me to a fabulous dinner at Rao's.... I can still hold out hope for Tiro A Segno! The $80 was worth it to let me know that I wasn't missing anything, no more known unknowns.

Picking up my to go quarantine dinner.

Got Rao's for quarantine takeout for the Taste of Rao's for two for $80. Knowing I will probably never have the honor of dining at Rao's we signed up for the waitlist for the next best thing. I received a text three weeks after joining the waiting list and we were able to jump at the opportunity. The meal comes with a house salad, penne marinara, meatballs, & lemon chicken. Totally worth the $80 which includes tax and tip. The lemon chicken was a bit on the sour side for me but cooked perfectly. The meatballs!?!?!? Ohhhh the meatballs!!!! It's like eating a cloud with sauce on it, a-mmmazing! The penne and sauce a staple that you can go wrong with. The salad, a typical house salad served with gorgeous tomatoes. If you get the chance sign up on Instagram, if you get the call don't hesitate to jump on it! Great opportunity! Happy to support our local restaurants. Hey Rao's hit me up when you reopen if you have a table open up!

How do I make a reservation?

You can't... you need to know someone

Ok. So what is the best advice to get a table here?

You need to know someone

Other than the meatballs, what is a must-have dish?

Any tips/anyone willing to connect me with someone that can help me make a reservation?

They take reservations the Monday before Thanksgiving for the next year . Not a guarantee you'll get a table it's just when they assign tables

How do I make a reservation? Just tried calling and voicemail said we are not taking any reservations at this time. Is it walk-in? First come first serve? I would love to eat here.

I believe you need to know someone who has a regular table on reserve. I don't believe you can just walk in. Maybe to sit at the bar. It's a big deal getting into eat there. We knew someone who knew the person who has the table on that particular… Read more

Can someone pleaseeeeee and kindly lend me a day to eat here at your table or take me as a plus 1? Lol, I am really trying to get a taste of the food. Thanks a million.

Tomorrow there will likely be plenty of tables available.

I would love to be able to eat here once in my life for a special occasion, is there any way to get a table without owning one? maybe come at a weird time?

Tip the guy at the door $100 bill.

Can you dine at the bar?

You cannot

Is the restaurant open on labor day?

Yes.

If anyone is so lucky and has a table they are giving up for a few hrs I'm interested will pay as well?

Can you do carry out?

Yes.

Anyone have a table here willing to give out their reservation? Dying for some pasta! 😩

Lucky enough to be going next month. How is the parking?

It isn't that bad but it can be kinda crowded in the weekends bc of the parks next to it; your better off parking on pleasant avenue and walking to the restaurant better yet on 115 or 116 st. Good luck and enjoy!!!!

Can someone recommend a way to get a table ? I would love to dine in this iconic restaurant!…

Win a reservation at a charity auction.

How can I eat here?? Does anyone have a table please ? I want to go for my birthday

I only had a late lunch because I wasn't super hungry, but what I had was pretty tasty. Honestly, I was inspired to write this review for the salad lol. The INSALATA VERDE, was freaking incredible. UGH. So fresh and the flavors were perfect. I also got a pasta, CAVATELLI ALLO SCOGLIO, but sadly wasn't that into it. All of the flavors were good, I just think it didn't come together in a way that my taste buds enjoyed lol. But I can't say it was nasty, just not my vibe. Overall was a great visit, and a great location for a cute lunch in the city, especially if you're near the highline! Oh! And I can't forget the cute little welcome wine that they have in the elevator. It's only on the second floor, but it was a nice experience.

The salad had a unique, slightly bitter flavor that was unexpected but surprisingly delicious and well-balanced. My steak was the only disappointment. I ordered it medium, but it was cooked well done. Despite that, the quality of the food and overall experience were still very good. I didn't get a chance to try dessert, but the dessert menu looked incredible and definitely gave me a reason to come back. Overall, I enjoyed my meal and will definitely be returning.

The pasta was al dente perfection and most importantly there were generous sauce portions. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and personable. I dined with a friend and we ordered 3 pastas instead of an appetizer (fantastic choice). We tried the following dishes: *Garganelli Mushroom Ragu and Ricotta Salata. This was by far our favorite dish. It was bursting with flavor, had tons of sauce and cheese and was perfectly cooked. If you enjoy mushroom you MUST order this!! *Tagliatelle Bolognese Bianco (Chicken, Veal, Pork) and Parmigiano. Which was so delicious and has plenty of meat and sauce. The tagliatelle was amazing and tasted to fresh. *Bucatini with Pancetta, Tomato, Chilies and Pecorino. We thought this was good but our least favorite dish of the 3. Honorable mention to the spaghetti that my friend had at her last visit. She said it was fresh and delicious but almost too rich which she mostly owned to it being a white sauce.

We started with the housemade focaccia and Wagyu carpaccio--both were outstanding, with the perfect balance of crispy, flavorful, and fresh elements. My partner and I shared the pasta, hangar steak, and potatoes, which turned out to be the ideal amount for two. We finished with the famous olive oil cake, which we loved for its subtly sweet, moist and tender bite. Served with lightly whipped cream and raisins, the combination was surprisingly delicious. We were also touched by the complimentary anniversary scoop of ice cream. The interior seating is a bit snug, but the decor is beautiful--elegant yet homey. The service was good as well. Overall, we highly recommend L'Artusi for a special night out!

Seafood dishes had large amounts of fresh seafood and the veal picatta had the lemony flavor you expect without excessive acidity. Dessert was tasty and innovative. The ricotta based cheese cake wasn't as smooth as the cream cheese form but the citrus flavor was great. I read the reviews mostly good so I was hoping for the best. My friends and I were not disappointed. The first thing I noticed was there were 7 people in my party and 4 arrived early and did not have to wait for my arrival to be seated. Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage. I am not really a pasta eater but baby that dish could change that; it was DELICIOUS. I even liked the anchovy dressing on my Caesar Salad and I dislike anchovies. All the dishes ordered (chicken parm, mussels chicken paillard etc.) everyone enjoyed them immensely. The only negative was when the Chicken Paiikard arrived it was supposed to a shared dish by the elderly couple and they asked for regular dinner plates from one of the servers. It took the gentleman who took our order to step in and said sure, lucky their food was still hot. Common Sense is not so common for all. But this will not lower my rating as it was taken care of swiftly. The portions were the perfect size and I was not stuffed but pleasantly satified. We told them the time of our show, food was out quickly, nicely presented, still hot and very tasty. The restaurant was not noisy and had space between the tables. It also had an elevator for those who could not manage stairs. Trattoria Trecolori you will be added to my must go again list! Thank for a wonderful experience!
