Yes you want to eat some really good taco shop look no further this place is really good they have very distinctive taco sauces that taste like a no other and I wish they sold it by the bottles because it is amazing another good thing is the employees deliver their own food so you don't have to worry about your food coming up missing or them forgetting anything in your order the same person delivers your food each and every order which you begin to know them by name so for this taco shops you know you can trust ordering from them because it's the same guy with the same container with the curly salt and pepper here delivering your food and he is just so nice this place is located in the heart of North Park yeah they have some dang good food read more

Good spot if you're looking for a quick burrito or taco. Just make sure you let them know if you want beans, rice, lettuce, cheese, etc in the burrito or it will just be the meat. For example, I bought the beef burrito and it was just beef and tortilla. Other than that, I'd continue to go here for a quick meal! read more

To the own owners and management at Rays... You're Awesome. Ive been to plenty of mexican spots in San Diego, and Rays is definitely a solid spot. Being that I wash my stuff next door i find myself stopping by more often than i should. hah Service: EVERY TIME i come to this place the gentleman behind the counter is always flowing with positive energy and if all ears. Super easy to talk to, even when I'm placing a complicated vegan order. #Sorry Food: Ive had the enchiladas, tacos, & CA burrito.. all are worth ordering, however my most recent go to item has been the "Veggie CA Burrito" (Beans, Rice, Fries, Pico de Gallo, Sliced Avocado, and Green Salsa) if you happen to be in the area and craving some Mexican food stop by Rays. ;) read more

This is a pretty average taco shop next to a laundromat. The staff is nice, but overall the service was somewhat slow. It depends on the clientele. I ordered 3 rolled tacos...they were a bit small in size, but were fresh and hot. read more

This is my favorite Mexican food in San Diego! The food is always made with the freshest ingredients and the owner's wife makes the salsa fresh daily. I try to always take a few extra containers of salsa to go to have throughout the week, I love it that much. Great menu selection. Love that there's plenty of vegetarian options like potato rolled tacos and soft tacos. Plenty of meat options for the meat lovers too. They also have dessert. Prices are fair and inexpensive compared to most other places. Especially for the quality ingredients they use. Parking can sometimes be tricky but it's worth finding a spot on the street close by. Seating is good too and there's a tv inside to watch while waiting. The time it takes to order to getting your food is pretty quick. I've used them for catering a couple times and everyone both times loved the food. They deliver too. I always make a stop here when I'm in the area. Check it out next time if you are too! :) read more

I never leave reviews for taco shops but had to for this place! I ordered from Postmates and got a breakfast burrito, albóndigas, and chilequilas. All were delicious!! They use soft and seasoned potatoes in their burritos instead of French fries which I loved, and the chilequilas were cooked well. The albóndigas was delicious as well! (Great for my hangover) they got my exact Order correct and left plenty of hot sauce and utensils with extra sides. Will order from here again! read more

This is one of my favorite local Mexican food spots! I've worked in the area for the last five years and have been a frequent customer to Ray's. The food has always been so fresh and tasty! Burritos come out hot and always taste great! The shop is run by the owner Ray and his very sweet wife Mary. They remember me every time I visit and give me a real sense community as I see them around at other local spots! I definitely recommend a stop in to Ray's if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a great mexican food meal! Thanks Ray and Mary! read more

Solid taco shop. Burritos - delicious. Rolled tacos -solid! Beans and rice - don't sleep on it. But here comes the surprise.... If you're looking for a the best flan SD has to offer, get it here!!!!! Everyone can breathe a collective sigh of relief: Ray's has a fantastic carne asada burrito. Not only that, there's a petite girl working there who has huge jugs (and she's not "big boned" either) if you care to know those sort of things. Two things regarding the appearance of my burrito: it was rather thin and, like the awesome breakfast burrito that I had last time, the tortilla was slightly burnt. I wonder if that's Ray's trademark or did the person working the grill nod off and forget? On the tube was a great E! True Hollywood Story documentary of Soleil Moon Frye focusing on her time as Punky Brewster. I had no idea that she had sex with the comedian Sinbad when she turned 18. But then again, I could be mistaken regarding those specifics so keep that in mind the next time you log on to the Punky Brewster website forum. Why 4 stars? Carne asada that's made on the spot and seasoned nicely. Beans that taste good and not from a can. Cheese that ACTUALLY melts and complements everything. These three things sound fairly simple but a lot of places struggle with this concept. That's why I'm here. To tell you about it and for you to see for yourself. Like so.. Two words: food poisoning. Either that or my stomach simply freaked out at the amount of grease and sour cream on my burrito. Listen, cut me some slack - after living in SD for 5 years and then relocating to NYC, a girl needs some serious burrito-love when she returns for a visit. So why wouldn't I shove my face full of guac and meat upon my return?? DUH. Sadly, this joint did not live up to my expectations (or memories). Taco shop that would be easily missed when driving down El Cajon Blvd . Mashed into a small strip mall , you find Ray's. I decided to go here after reading about the Texas burrito. I ordered the Texas burrito , which is basically a chicken Cali burrito for $5.50 and 3 rolled for $2.75, I'm a sucker for rolled tacos. They have a nice open set up inside , plenty of tables , but no salsa bar. Customer service was very polite. Food came out to go in a reasonable amount of time. The surf and turf burrito I got could've used some improvement. The tortilla was slightly burnt. The burrito was filled to the brim with guacamole and sour cream to the point the burrito would fall apart when picking it up. The Carne Asada and the shrimp weren't bad and they gave generous portions of that. I ended up picking off the last half of the burrito with a fork. I think I want to try something else off the menu next time as the breakfast burritos look pretty good. read more

You ever have those mornings where you wake up and your absolutely STARVING? I was practically ready to eat my own arm! I flipped out and went on a Rolled Taco killing spree. I hit up every taco shop within a 2 mile radius on El Cajon Blvd. If you live near the area, you'll know that's probably like 54 taco shops lol I stopped at Rays and got 3 rolled tacos....They were tasteless and the sour cream was too runny. Unfortunately those rolled tacos won that battle. They killed me and my ass after I ate just 1. Sorry Ray... I am not a fan. 2 stars for cheap rolled tacos... thankfully I only wasted $1.95! read more

I ordered delivery and everything I ate so far was super good. Shrimp tacos - grilled not breaded. I don't know how they normally make them but I asked for no cheese or crema and they were delicious. Fish tacos - I asked for grilled, they were very tasty too. The tacos are very big, and come with a double corn tortilla, but even then you might end up eating them with a fork because they do fill them up real food. They also send them with green lemons in case you want some. I always want lemon on my taco, because it's just not Mexican not to put lemon on stuff. What was the best part of this meal? Omg it has to be the salsa roja. I don't know what was in it but it was just so yummy. I even dipped my finger in it because the tacos were gone and I still had some salsa left over. The salsa verde was good too, but la roja, man.. Bien sabrosa. Delivery was fast, I would order from here again for sure. read more

Not thee most amazoing Mexican food I've ever had, but I've dined in a few times and recently tried their delivery. I live in Bankers Hill and they drove out here to bring me food! The food was delicious! I tried their supreme tostada with chicken and black beans, it was very good. My boyfriend really enjoyed his California burrito as well. The delivery took a little longer than I was hoping, but when the gentleman arrived with our order he insisted on discounting our bill and refused to let us tip him, promising better and faster delivery next time. I'll be ordering from them again. read more

Our food was very good and we got the bill for 54.75. I tipped $11 which changed our total to $65.75. When I looked at my bank statement later I saw that I was charged $65.75 and an additional $11 separately. I assumed it was probably a mistake so I went back in the next day, receipt and bank statement in hand to correct the problem. The owners denied responsibility and said I would have to take it up with their teenage daughter who waited on us and that she would be there soon. I waited 10 minutes and she walked in and flat out denied having overcharged me, even though I had proof. Finally she says "what do you want? money?" And throws $11 at me. I was really taken aback being treated like this by a thieving little high schooler and the parents just sat back and watched! If you go here, check your bank statement and totals the next day. Clearly they are fine with her stealing from customers. read more

Had family come to town last minute and we ordered hella rolled tacos for delivery through the Eat24 app! Lol The day before my birthday- Friday, March 30. My cousins decided to come to San Diego last minute to celebrate my birthday with me. We got a suite in Hotel Circle and ordered food before heading out! We had 25 rolled tacos, ceviche, two orders of carne asada fries and chicken chips (something weird that no one else orders if they're from San Diego)! Anyway, it came fast, hot, lots of hot sauce, plates, guacamole and clearly marked with our super difficult special instructions! Ray's Mexican Food SD North Park 1pm Thursday 14th January 2016 Four Stars How I miss Mexican Food from California. I had two crispy shredded beef tacos with a side of rice and beans ($8). The shell was freshly fried to crispy perfection. The shape was more of a "V" than a "U". The beef was savory, tender, and delicious. The lettuce was fresh but the tomato was a bit tired. The thick shredded cheese was lovely. The rice was soft and flavorful and beans were light and almost creamy. The chips were crispy and thin. Overall enjoyable Mexican food. read more

I have am staying here for a month, it's been ten days and I've ordered from Rays twice now. I ordered using the Eat 24 app and the food came promptly and always delivered by a friendly person. The prices are good and the portions are generous. The things I have tried: Beef Burrito - big lots of beef, no filler yummy Beef tamale - lots of meat, delicious , I ordered enchilada sauce on top as so done suggested (it was good) Chicken Enchiladas- very good, I ordered two and ate one for breakfast the next day. Ray's is a small place with a surprisingly long menu. It was a cold windy day and we wanted soup. They had at least 5 kinds. I had albondigas and my friend had chicken and both were great. They also had pozole and a couple others. To be fair, both soups looked the same with carrots, potatoes, zucchini, turnips, etc. but they were yummy so we can't complain! read more

Pros: Clean restaurant. Opened late. Non-spicy green and red salsa. Cons: Food was bland. No flavor. Not great service. Took too long for a simple meal. My expectations are not very high for taco shop food. Ordered a bean and cheese burrito. Did not have much flavor. Cheese was still cold inside burrito. If you are looking to satisfy a craving for quick Mexican food, this is not the place to go. read more

Desserts: 5/5 We got a blood orange scone and a strawberry danish. The scone was warm and delicious. The orange essence was well infused. The danish was crispy and creamy. Everything was so picturesque. Food: 3/5 Unfortunately, the food was not the best. We got the smoked salmon sandwich which was not very flavorful. The salmon was also slimy. The pesto spread was good though. It was creamy and the artisan bread it was served had great variety. Ambiance: 5/5 This place is such super cute. When you walk in, the desserts all look super appetizing. The seating areas are super cute and the floral decor are stunning. Service: 5/5 It is an order then sit down establishment. There is great attention to their dessert. I saw them heat up a knife just to cleanly cut the cake. The food service however did take some time to come out.

If it started out canned, I wouldn't have known it (not that I'm saying that), and you have to like cheese because you get a thick, melted, and stringy cut on sourdough bread, toasted perfectly to hold up to dipping in the soup. On a warm day, this dish goes great with an IPA or chilled white wine.

The shop that I visited is in San Diego's Little Italy neighborhood, which has a 30 minute free parking zone right in front of the store front! The latte was good, and my friend bought a kitchen sink type cookie with chocolate, coconut, and macadamia nuts. It was warm and gooey good! Another friend tried the gelato and said it was very good. There are a few tables inside and tables out in front outside. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful San Diego weather. The decor and tables definitely gives you an old school Italian neighborhood vibe with Italian markets right next door. If I am in the neighborhood again, I would definitely come back here to try the gelato and/or a piece of an excellent looking lemon pie bar I spotted.

It was later in the day so they were out of or running low on some flavors. Nevertheless, the two flavors we tried were incredibly rich and flavorful. A little goes a very long way. Parking is incredibly tough in Little Italy but it is worth it for gelato this good.

The restaurant wasn't packed with customers but they were definitely short staffed or something because there were two couples sitting next to us who were also waiting for their food. One couple was ready to leave when their food came out at that exact moment. The servers did apologize and told us that they were having issues with the kitchen. They also offered us all free orange juice. However, if they knew they were having issues with the kitchen then they should've told us earlier before we got seated so people could go elsewhere rather than waiting an hour for their food. Overall, service here was very poor. In terms of food, it was unfortunately pretty good but not worth the wait. I really liked the simple toast with matcha cream on top as well as the curry hamburg. My friend ordered the shakshuka (not pictured because it came last and everyone just wanted to eat at that point) which was also pretty good. For the avocado toast, the toast was too hard so I wouldn't recommend it. We also ordered a yuzu and matcha yuzu mimosa. Both tasted like yuzu. The matcha yuzu one was basically a green yuzu mimosa. They have a vero water purification system so their water was really good lol.
