This was my first time trying Creole food, and I absolutely loved it! I was visiting when I came here, and I honestly wish this restaurant was in LA so I could eat here more often. It was a busy day, but luckily, there was room at the bar for me and my sister--thank goodness, because the food was spectacular. Everything I ordered was delicious. The oysters were fresh and tasty, though they didn't fill me up at all. I'm not usually a fan of cornbread, but I gave it a try here, and wow--I'm so glad I did. It was amazing! I also had the catfish, which was fantastic and very filling, so I'd recommend sharing it if you're not super hungry. Both soups I tried were incredible--especially the gumbo and the soup of the day. I still think about them! They had such rich, flavorful taste. As for the alligator, it didn't taste strange at all--it was actually pretty similar to regular sausage. Enjoyed two different types of oysters which were both good. Preferred the raw oysters over the bbq. Shrimp and grits was just.....ok. 'Ike's section' but unfortunately were placed elsewhere- to the host you came over and profusely apologized, it's ok!!!! However, the best part of the dining experience was our pleasant server Lachlan, a nice young man with a great smile and warm attitude. I ordered: The Corn and Crab Chowder I did not eat it because unbeknownst to me it had bacon in it. However, the corn to crab ratio was highly disproportionate. BBQ Shrimp (Appetizer) Was very tasty - however calling this BBQ Shrimp is a misnomer if not an outright lie. This is Buffalo Shrimp in a Blue Cheese Dressing. If the server didn't point out the Hot Sauce and Blue Cheese when I was ordering I would've been highly upset when this showed up. Despite the fact that it tastes really really good! Land, Gulf, and Grits Gulf Shrimp & Beef Debris on Smoked Gouda Grits...was good. The shrimp was not seasoned, the roast beef (debris) was tasty, and the grits were creamy but I was hard pressed to taste any cheese let alone gouda. As an appetizer, we shared the tincture oysters. They were absolutely amazing. Our kids ate the pasta off the kids menu, and loved it so much that they ordered another bowl to share between them. This was my first trip to the grill in a few years so I was sure to make a reservation. Imagine my pleasant surprise when it was relatively empty at the bar. It's a beautiful bar with oyster shaped mirrors, a fully stocked bar, and a TV. While I was there March Madness games were playing. I started with a cup of the soup of the day (a delicious cream of broccolini that included shrimp and crawfish), the bar bread and butter and for my entree, I had the signature dish (wood fired redfish). This dish was red fish over a potato hash of fingerling potatoes, mushrooms, sautéed onions, tasso ham and peas and I added a side of asparagus. Needed more greens. I ended my meal with a raw oyster to toast a fellow diner who was trying raw oysters for the first time. It was prepared with the Sherry honey vinaigrette. I'd try it again.
