It has been many years since we have visited a Red Lobster. Most likely we will never return. Parking lot was packed several people parked in the parking lot but walked to the mall. Restaurant was empty yet we were seated in the bar area in front of the restrooms. (Yuk) We did have a toddler in a high chair but that couldn't have been the only place in an otherwise empty restaurant a high chair could have been placed. Food was very slow to arrive. Lobster tails were over cooked and rubbery. Lobster bisque was the worst we've ever had. No real creaminess and almost like it was frozen and reheated. They did chop a bit of fresh parsley on the top. Biscuits were ok, I make them better from the box at home. Wait staff was lazy, left dirty dishes on our table instead of taking them to make room for entrees. Had to ask for more iced tea. Our waiter did not even ask if we were enjoying our meal or if we needed anything. We were very disappointed. read more

This is to amend my September 26, 2024 review. Today I went into the Brea Red Lobster to show them my review and their online offer to basicly "make things right". I ordered the fish and chips again. This time it was a great experience. The fish was HUGE with a light batter surrounding a flakey delicious white fish. The order also comes with a "to die for" coleslaw, perfect "french fries" (chips) and their signature "cheezy bisquits". This was "washed down" with a tall glass of draft beer which I paid for. I am really glad that I went back. The service, as before, was excellent. I highly recommend that you try their version of ENGLISH "Fish and Chips". read more

I walked in with a party of five on a Thursday at 4pm. The place was empty and the host told us to give her it 10 minutes to clean off table. We sat down waited 10 minutes then she came over to tell us that she's sorry but there was only one server and that the other server that was supposed to come in, got a flat tire. I used to love you Red Lobster, but it's time we break up! For years I loved the delicious food at red lobster. However, when my husband and I went on a date for a late lunch, we were very disappointed in the food. It tasted like frozen food that was reheated. We ordered the coconut shrimp and fish and chips to share. We always loved those two plates but this time we were very disappointed. The biscuits were the only thing that tasted good. Even the fries tasted old. I don't think anything was fresh. Red lobster, I really hope you bring back your fresh food. After looking at the crowd in the restaurant, I have a feeling many have broken up with you. When the wifey and I finally had a chance to have a late lunch/early dinner without the kids, (thank you babysitter!!), we opted for one of our long time fav's, Red Lobster. You'd think that a 4:30 dinner would be uncrowded, but we had a 30 minute wait and the place was relatively empty. I chalk this up to the lack of labor in food service (as we all have read and seen on line). Once we got seated, though, our server was stellar and right on it. We had the free appetizer on our app, so we started with the lobster and artichoke dip. OMG, the dip is so good and so are the super thin tortilla chips. BUT The chips were way over salted. When each was eaten separately, it was good, but together it was way salty. We all know the sea is salty and so is Walt's favorite shrimp (sea a theme here? (pun intended)). The cheddar biscuits were really flakey and good, but were a little salty, too. Thank goodness our server was right on it with refilling our drinks. I must've had 4 diet Pepsi's (I know, I'm a diet Coke fan, but, hey what can you do?) to fight the salt. Overall this is one of the cleanest RL's I've come across in a while. I had a party of six which I made sure to make a open table "reservation" for. The whole party was there fifteen minutes prior to preferred time to make sure we could be seated properly. Come to find out, making a call ahead, reservation for the waitlist, etc, the hostesses and manager were not prepared at all. They kept referring to calling servers in for work. I run a business, and I never have an excuse like they insisted on using. So we basically sat there waiting for 45 minutes after our requested time, watching other parties of four or more, get seated. Bad form manager. The hostess didn't bother to properly seat us. He dropped the menus and bounced sooner than we could sit down. Bad bad bad. Mind you we were seated in the very back away from everything, which was actually kind of nice, seeing as we could have pleasant conversations. We never saw the host or manager again the rest of the night. Our server Laura, came over to take our drink and appetizer order. She was very sweet, very courteous, and really an all around a great service provider. Lastly, everything went well after our server came to the rescue for this particular Red Lobster. From the appetizers, to the dinner entrees, to the service Laura provided. She seemed always available, and thoughtful of our drinks, and overall satisfaction. I would have giving this place 1 star, just based on the zero attentiveness and apathy of the host station. They're the worst at customer service, and unapologetically incompetent. We came here on a Sunday and were sat within 10 minutes. Our server quickly brought out some bead for the table. I ordered a poke bowl and my bf ordered the lobster tail plate. For drinks, we ordered a margarita and my bf a modelo. When he asked for another modelo the server said it would be the last one. My guy and I came in at the last minute for a late night cocktail and snack. (It was about an hour before they closed). We were seated at a table, and although restaurant wasn't busy, the servers seemed a bit preoccupied. (Maybe had close-up duties). Although, they were all very courteous, we opted to move to the bar. It has been a while since I've been to a Red Lobster. The menu has completely changed - and NOT for the better. It seems that before there was a wider variety of fish. My favorite, grilled cod, is no longer offered. I used to get this cod, broccoli and a green salad. A perfect meal, at a reasonable price. So I settled for a special they had - mahi mahi with NO fancy sauces on top. It came with rice and vegetables. The server told me I could not substitute the sides. I would have gotten broccoli and a green salad if I was able to - BUT I wasn't. Salads are now an extra charge. So for 2 of us - I got this mahi mahi special, my husband got steak and lobster, an iced tea and a soda. The bill came to $99.91. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????????????? To be honest there is not much to say about Red Lobster. I do here about once or twice a year to celebrate some family birthdays, but I never come here because I am craving it. You will get some good food, good drinks, decentish prices and good service. What I get: I try to change it up when I come so that I can go around the menu. I have tried everything from the Lobster Roll, to Walt's Shrimp, the lobster, crab legs, and everything in between. The last time I stopped by I got The Admiral which is a mix of fried foods such as shrimp, white fish, clam strips and scallops. It was all fried so it good, didn't have much taste to anything. Location: Located in the same area as the Brea Mall, parking can sometimes get hectic. Last time I came during COVID protocols and was seated outside. There is only about 6 tables out there, one waiter, and one server. Inside it is usually dimly lit, with both booths and tables to sit at. Notes: Red Lobster does not have the worlds greatest seafood, but it is yummy. I do not complain when we have to come. read more

MISC: They don't take reservations yet, and you are seated when your ENTIRE party is there, so you can't sit at a table or booth and camp. I've only been to Red Lobster twice. The last time was over 15 years ago. Being in SoCal we have the luxury of many different options of seafood, and this isn't one of my first options to consider. Because my wife received some gift cards to RL, we decided to order take out. The online process is super easy. Menus intuitive. Options customizable. You can order pickup, curbside takeout, or delivery via Doordash. I went with the curbside takeout. The food we ordered were the lobster trio, extra biscuits, muscles appetizers, trout, and the sides were the Brussels sprouts, green beans, and lobster mash potatoes. The food was surprisingly really good. A little bit on the salty side for the seafood linguine, but everything tasted delicious. Biscuits really are the stars of the meal. For about $5.50 for a dozen, it's a great snack. Lobsters were good, American style grilled and baked. So this is the part where I docked two points. The curbside takeout stated to go to the designated parking and call the pickup phone number. I arrived right at the estimated time on the receipt. Went through the teleprompts and waited for someone to pick up the phone. Over 10 minutes passed and noticed another driver next to me go inside and then picked up his food. I decided to go inside and see what was going on. It was fairly busy, almost every table had patrons. Was a little surprised since it's still Covid going on, but lots of families and kids. The place inside looked terrific, nice center bar. Oh back to my food... after speaking to the host up front, he said to head to the bar and they'll get my order. Got the order immediately, and everything inside was nicely packed. Plastic utensils provided. If it wasn't for the lack of curbside pick up, i wouldn't mind giving this place 5 stars. Food was solid. But seriously, if they are going to offer this optional service, the very least is to provide that service. Hopefully they'll address this. read more

I push my plate to the side to wait for her to come back mean while I didn't say anything to my friend because he was enjoying his food so much and I didn't want to gross him out, she never came by to check on us we had to flag her down prior to get crab cracker and butter, and then flag her down again so I could show her the hair, she had a total attitude with me and said "well what is it and where" she came back and said her manager took it off the bill. Well we continued for about 20 minutes, and normally a manager would stop by and apologize or offer a dessert or something, nothing! I saw a manger walk by 4x times and look at us with disgust l, very uncomfortable and super unprofessional. Came here for lunch today to dine out in the patio area and was a bad idea.. we came in to the restaurant and there was nobody to be seen. Only 2 cooks in the kitchen. There were a total of 6 women in front of us all yelling until a waitress saw them, ignored them, and walked away. She came back 2 minutes later and said sorry how can I help? Once the 2 ladies were sat, the others were waiting at the bar to order. When we went to get seated in the patio also the same waitress who helped them and ignored the others said to put our name on the waitlist that it will be 10-15 min to be seated. We said okay... we put our name on the waitlist and went outside in the sun to wait Over 20 minutes goes by, we look at the patio and there are 5 tables open and they never notified us or called our phone. We went inside again and when confronting the same waitress she avoided us and went in the back again. The manager was busy helping others and when she asked if I wanted to order I said no I want to sit in the patio and to wait by the front door. I told her I've been waiting over 20 min and on the waitlist and never got anything.. The guy I ran into (our server) was understanding and apologized and let us choose our seat. He was nice throughout the lunch experience but everything else sucked to be honest. The steak I ordered and wanted "medium" was "well done" with no pink at all. It honestly tasted like it was made in the microwave with no char taste or grill taste and was luke warm. Thankfully he brought A1 sauce (and I don't even use that on my steak) but this time I had to smother my $25 steak in that so it made it better. The baked potatoe had only butter and no salt/pepper and none on the table. The people eating in the patio were all coughing and being loud. At the very end of the meal we thought this 1hr 20 min experience would be done... nope... to pay for your meal your only choice is to use the payment machine on the tables AND you MUST input your information. Your information I mean: "first & last name" "Date of Birth" "phone number" "email" "password" that were NOT optional which I'm pretty sure is illegal to REQUIRE everyone's personal information just to eat some food... we Overheard someone tell the server they wanted to pay them instead and they refused.. good thing we didn't have cash or didn't want to argue. It asked us for a survey and we just skipped it and paid and left. I called in this morning to order a shrimp platter for Mother's Day as I do every year. The manager working the morning shift refused to take my order citing that they were too busy and that making a shrimp platter will "wipe them out" on a major holiday. The only thing that will wipe them out is not capturing added revenue on a major holiday. I called into the Puente Hills store and they fulfilled my order for afternoon pick up. Good to know that there are some RL stores willing to go the distance to satisfy their customers just as I did as a Red Lobster Alumn. read more
