I work in this Industry so don't usually make reviews but this time was horrible. We got seated and I don't even know our servers name because she never told us. Anyways my mom asked about the lobster tails and how big there were. She closes my mom's menu and pointed to the picture and said this big. We then asked how many ounces as my mom was trying to decide how many she wanted from the lobster fest meals. The server responded with its one size. After asking again how many ounces she said would you like me to go check. Finally she did came back. We ordered. I ordered just a filet mignon and baked potato. When asked if wanted sour cream and butter I said no. I cannot have sour cream can I just have two butters. She said okay thought nothing of it. Keep in mind she never checked on our table and I had to ask her twice for more biscuits. She finally brings out our meals and mine is a filet mignon, broccoli, lobster tail, and baked potatoes with sour cream and chives. I let her know this is not what I ordered and she asked me are you sure. I said yes I ordered just a baked potato butter only and just a steak no lobster. She takes it back then brings out the same baked potato and steak on a different plate with all the broccoli and everything still sticking to them. She just drops it on the table and keeps walking lot even asking if everything is good. I try to get her attention but she ignored me and started walking the other side of tables away from us to get to her big party at the end. After trying and failing to get her attention finally had to ask another server to please bring the manager. The manager comes over and I explain what happened. At first he listened then was like so you just need a new baked potato then? The server walked up as I was talking to him but didn't say Anything. He goes to get me a new baked potato and leaves the other one. She just walked past us to her other tables. After he brought it back and let me know he would be taking it off our bill I tried explaining to him that I wasn't just upset that I was given the wrong meal. That I was given something I cannot eat and when told her she brought out same items on a new plate. If I had been unable to eat the lobster or something else that she put on my plate that wasn't ordered and had a reaction it was a serious matter. He did say he is working on holding people accountable when they make mistakes and not letting everything go. He said he understood my frustration. After he left she still never came back to check on us. Another server brought us refill drinks when noticed we were low. Our server finally came back when she noticed another server clearing our table and asked if we are done and ready for check. We said yes. She then asked if we wanted it spilt even though there was only one entree and one drink on bill now after the manager took mine off. Took her about 15 minutes to bring us our check (she was at the register next to us the entire time) then another 20 for her to ring up my mom. We finally left. I used to work at this location, I've dined here many times before. To 1) not only ignore us most of our meal and no refills unless we flagged you down and asked. 2) bringing the wrong meal and acting like I was the one who messed up 3) not checking that the food was find after bringing it out again 4) not checking on us after we had to get a manager until time for check And a manager who I hope holds her accountable because that is not okay to give someone a food they specifically say they cannot have and then not even brining a new meal out but just same food different plate with still a food that could have made me sick. After seeing much hype about how Red Lobster 'revamped' itself, making changes to its menu, with its new leadership, I decided to give it a shot for lunch. The waitstaff at this location was very friendly, including the waitress, who was attentive and expedient. The service was definitely the highlight of this visit. I decided to get the seafood boil--which I've seen lots of people on social media hype. I opted for the Mariner's Seafood Boil, at about $55, plus drink, tax, and tip. After a few minutes, the order arrived in a plastic bag, somewhat similar to Boiling Crab. I don't like writing bad reviews, but everything tasted dry, lacked flavor, there wasn't much seafood (or even corn) in proportion to potatoes and--quite frankly--it all tasted like it was manufactured in a factory, derived from synthetic material (rubbery). Furthermore, the portion size was small, especially for about $55. Tbh, I felt kinda ripped off. IMHO, a fair value would be $20 to $25. For the same price, I could have gone to Boiling Crab, in Rowland Heights, Rosemead, or Garden Grove, and could have gotten three times more food for the same price (and the food would have been much higher quality). When it comes to seafood boils, Boiling Crab's crawfish and shrimp, with sausages, corn on the cob, and hardboiled egg, in the "Whole Shabang" sauce, remains unbeatable. Unfortunately, the Red Lobster brand is just one victim to private equity--in this case, Red Lobster is owned by a private equity group called RL Investor Holdings (a symptom of late-stage capitalism)--and how private equity ruined a brand that was once synonymous with good seafood. The goal of profit maximization in private equity, in Red Lobster's 'revamping,' is definitely apparent, favoring marketing and profit maximization, over product quality and quantity. As a rule of thumb, nothing ever good for the consumer comes out of products derived from private equity because its focus is on reducing labor, manufacturing, and supply costs, increasing profit for corporate leadership and investors (even if it means loading companies with debt [debt is often used to pay C-suite outrageous bonuses]), and increasing prices for the consumer, all at the ultimate detriment of the customer--wherein customers are squeezed in the name of "profit." Private equity is literally one cause to America's downfall. In summation, if you're looking for fresh lobster, head to King's Fish House in the City of Orange. If you're looking for the best seafood boil, Boiling Crab in Rowland Heights, Rosemead, or Garden Grove is, by far, the best. I'm not just saying this because I was one of Boiling Crab's first customers, at its first location, in Garden Grove, in 2004. I'm saying this because I have yet to taste a better seafood boil than what Boiling Crab has to offer. read more

The day before Mothers Day and the wait was over an hour and we got there at 2pm. When we finally got seated and finally saw a waitress, well, 27 minutes passed before I got a beer. The waitress said she would go get my drink right now but went to another table and as pouring water then to another to grab some dishes and I waited another 10 minutes. I ate here with my friend so I could say I've eaten at a Red Lobster before and while I think it's clean, spacious and the server and bartender were nice, I'm still not getting it. I did not get the lobster and instead tried the MANY varieties of shrimp and a lot of the sides which made me really full and I even had leftovers. Our server's name was Chris and I could whisper I needed more water and he could probably hear it or at least anticipate what I was going to ask for next. He said he's been working there a long time and he was so fast and efficient and funny that I could tell only a seasoned professional could be all those things. Even though my first official time here was ok/good, I'm determined to come back and figure out what's so great about this place. We ate a lot of things but my favorites were the calamari, the shrimp scampi in a tub of butter and the biscuits. We also ordered the clam chowder and I was not a fan of it and would not recommend it. I had a great lunch with my family at this location. The food was delicious and the Maine lobster was amazing. There is a lunch menu and specials during the week. Two of us enjoyed the lunch specials and the rest in our group ordered The Admirals feast and The Shrimp Trio. Our server was very attentive to our needs and kept checking in to see if we needed more drinks or anything. The manager Ruby was very nice and checked in with our table. The restaurant is a large open beautiful restaurant and was very clean. This is false advertising. Please take a look at the drink I received vs the one they have on their menu. It did not taste good at all and it didn't have no watermelon flavor what so ever. The place is packed but the wait wasn't too bad today. They had a new menu that caused some confusion for me. I usually go straight to the fresh catch menu but it took me a moment to find on this new menu. The taste of clam chowder is just what I remembered. Those cheese biscuits are very satisfying but seems to be smaller than I remembered. The service is good as usual. ....and by "could have been better" (2 star review)... I mean I've experienced better back when this Red Lobster was one of my favorite places to go. And now, it definitely is NOT. Portions are way cut back and small, incredible difference, you used to not even be able to see the plate underneath. Plus the prices are higher. Almost shocking, really. Sad. Even the addictive cheese biscuits are 1/2 the size.... however, still unlimited, so bonus! Although the taste of the food is still the same and pretty basic yummy seafood... that is not enough to make me want to go back again. Lord knows I do not need the huge servings and true prices do go up, I get it. But here's my thing..... this was my go-to place almost weekly for a couple years. Friendly, nice, welcoming. I missed a couple years and went back over this past year and it's a complete 180. Since when is it acceptable for the wait staff to literally be looking at their phone when around customers?? This dude would take our order, reach for his phone, ask how things are tasting, reach for his phone... we couldn't even get his attention as he rested against a booth because he was enthralled in his phone. No. Unacceptable. Also, during Covid times, we went to put our name in on two occasions and BOTH times the hostess flatly said "no, sorry, we're not taking any more diners". Ok. I also get this. But neither time did either hostess seem to care or act polite. Did not offer to maybe get an order to go, or offer anything positive about wanting to return. Maybe that was our clue to not go back. But we did and even when there was enough "room for diners" the hostess was basically zombie-mode and acted like she hated her job. I see other Yelpers have had great experience and good service. How? In the last year we've been here half a dozen times and every time has been the worst! Super bummer. We would definitely return even with the higher prices and smaller portions... but because the service was so incredibly horrible and inattentive, we will more than likely take our seafood cravings to someplace else. It has been many years since we have visited a Red Lobster. Most likely we will never return. Parking lot was packed several people parked in the parking lot but walked to the mall. Restaurant was empty yet we were seated in the bar area in front of the restrooms. (Yuk) We did have a toddler in a high chair but that couldn't have been the only place in an otherwise empty restaurant a high chair could have been placed. Food was very slow to arrive. Lobster tails were over cooked and rubbery. Lobster bisque was the worst we've ever had. No real creaminess and almost like it was frozen and reheated. They did chop a bit of fresh parsley on the top. Biscuits were ok, I make them better from the box at home. Wait staff was lazy, left dirty dishes on our table instead of taking them to make room for entrees. Had to ask for more iced tea. Our waiter did not even ask if we were enjoying our meal or if we needed anything. We were very disappointed. read more

Great as I remember it in the past!! The hostess greeted us by opening the door and that was so refreshing to see because they don't do that anymore at any place, I feel like that is a trademark service point of Red Lobster. My girlfriend had never been before so she was excited as was I. The cheddar bay biscuits still hit!! And our server Brandon was very attentive, I even asked for something special, the clam strips (which are only on the admirals feast), and he was able to get us a side order of them. The most warming part of the service is that another server came to check up on us while we were enjoying our meal, so it felt like we always had someone to take care of us. On to the food. We shared an Ultimate Create Your Own Feast where we got the Maine lobster tail(cooked to PERFECTION, succulent and not chewy), snow crab legs(one of my favorites), coconut shrimp(a STAPLE here for sure, served with the piña colada sauce that's always fire), and a shrimp skewer(HACK: always comes over rice, so don't order rice as one of your sides if you get this) and then we went all out cause we were sharing and got the lobster topped baked potato for a side and broccoli + the side of clam strips!! Definitely enough to share. The only thing that has changed is the meals don't include soup or salad but I'm sure if you order an entree you can add it for an minimal amount. The atmosphere was great, the vibes were really up because of how friendly the staff were!! I love the layout in Brea with the high ceilings and the all the nautical pictures and artwork it made me feel like I was transported outside of Orange County. This is to amend my September 26, 2024 review. Today I went into the Brea Red Lobster to show them my review and their online offer to basicly "make things right". I ordered the fish and chips again. This time it was a great experience. The fish was HUGE with a light batter surrounding a flakey delicious white fish. The order also comes with a "to die for" coleslaw, perfect "french fries" (chips) and their signature "cheezy bisquits". This was "washed down" with a tall glass of draft beer which I paid for. I am really glad that I went back. The service, as before, was excellent. I highly recommend that you try their version of ENGLISH "Fish and Chips". read more

I walked in with a party of five on a Thursday at 4pm. The place was empty and the host told us to give her it 10 minutes to clean off table. We sat down waited 10 minutes then she came over to tell us that she's sorry but there was only one server and that the other server that was supposed to come in, got a flat tire. Overall this is one of the cleanest RL's I've come across in a while. I had a party of six which I made sure to make a open table "reservation" for. The whole party was there fifteen minutes prior to preferred time to make sure we could be seated properly. Come to find out, making a call ahead, reservation for the waitlist, etc, the hostesses and manager were not prepared at all. They kept referring to calling servers in for work. I run a business, and I never have an excuse like they insisted on using. So we basically sat there waiting for 45 minutes after our requested time, watching other parties of four or more, get seated. Bad form manager. The hostess didn't bother to properly seat us. He dropped the menus and bounced sooner than we could sit down. Bad bad bad. Mind you we were seated in the very back away from everything, which was actually kind of nice, seeing as we could have pleasant conversations. We never saw the host or manager again the rest of the night. Our server Laura, came over to take our drink and appetizer order. She was very sweet, very courteous, and really an all around a great service provider. Lastly, everything went well after our server came to the rescue for this particular Red Lobster. From the appetizers, to the dinner entrees, to the service Laura provided. She seemed always available, and thoughtful of our drinks, and overall satisfaction. I would have giving this place 1 star, just based on the zero attentiveness and apathy of the host station. They're the worst at customer service, and unapologetically incompetent. I used to love you Red Lobster, but it's time we break up! For years I loved the delicious food at red lobster. However, when my husband and I went on a date for a late lunch, we were very disappointed in the food. It tasted like frozen food that was reheated. We ordered the coconut shrimp and fish and chips to share. We always loved those two plates but this time we were very disappointed. The biscuits were the only thing that tasted good. Even the fries tasted old. I don't think anything was fresh. Red lobster, I really hope you bring back your fresh food. After looking at the crowd in the restaurant, I have a feeling many have broken up with you. Please return to your original ways of fresh food, great service and a packed restaurant of people waiting to come in and have a great meal. We miss all your greatness!
