Been coming every year for my sons birthday since he was 10 years old. Tonight we're celebrating his 21st birthday. Unfortunately our waiter Gevalin, (pronounces like Devon) made us wait 20 minutes for drinks then 30 minutes before he took our order. He ignored us while chatting with a lady sitting by herself who already paid her tab and was leaving. Very disappointed. We got here at 7:30pm. It's now 8:35 and we just got salads. It's not busy at all. Red lobster can do a better job training their staff. *we had to go find our waiter to ask for drawn butter. After about 8-10 minutes he finally comes to our table with a tray full of about 20 portion cups of butter! We each took 1-2 while he stared at our full table looking for a place to set this large tray of butter down. I told him we were fine and didn't need the rest. Unfortunately my crab legs were cold and bland by the time I could eat them with butter. *also our waiter ended up bringing my older son a free blue moon because he said it was opened by accident and he didn't want to waste it. While that very nice and thoughtful, he sat it down without asking the birthday boy if he wanted another Modelo or any of the rest of us if we wanted another drink. We were drinking Tito's Strawberry lemonades and mojitos. To give him credit he did ask if we needed anything else when he brought the $169 tab to our table. Also, he wished my son a happy birthday. I tipped according to his service. *in addition we were one the last tables in our section. There were about 4-5 staff cleaning vigorously all around us. This nice lady was dusting the light over the table next to ours. Dust was literally falling on my son's girlfriend head. Then she took out the broom and did a fantastic job sweeping the floors! I asked her if she needed us to pick up our feet. She replied, "no you guys are fine." I said are you sure, because we don't want to be in your way?" She replied, "y'all aren't bothering me at all." It's really all about those biscuits. It's been many moons since I dined at Red Lobster, but away we went for a recent lunch. Right away I tore into three cheddar biscuits and never looked back. I think I added one more biscuit to the total by meal's end. The meal itself was kind of average as I had three shrimp tacos served with rice. The tacos had too many sauces involved (one on bottom and one on top), but the rice was good and the shrimp ok too. The other meal was a simple ceasar salad and a cup of potato bacon soup. We were out the door for less than 20 bucks full of biscuits and knowing that the ones in the box we try to make at home would never be as good as the ones served in-house. read more

I can't recall when I was last at a Red Lobster. I don't choose chain restaurants often. We came here on a mid-week night because an out-of-town guest insisted. Reading the previous reviews was pretty bleak so I didn't expect much. Yet to me it is unfair to go to a chain restaurant then rate it only 1-star because it wasn't a Michelin gourmet dining experience, geez what do some people expect? More of a concern were the negatives about the terrible service. That's a deal-breaker for me no matter how fancy (or not) a restaurant is. On this particular evening the place was decidedly uncrowded. Fine for us, bad for the restaurant. We were greeted by Jaron who has probably greeted a thousand customers and could be expected to be tired and bored on such a slow night. Yet he greeted and seated us like were honored guests, and it was evident that his cheerful smile and positive demeanor were not fake. Our server, Mike, was prompt and attentive and generally not bad. His only issue is that throughout our meal he seemed rushed and not really into it. He didn't make any mistakes, brought us non-alcoholic drink refills before we asked and was familiar with most of the menu, a feat because their menus go on and on for many pages. At no time did we experience a longer than expected wait for any service. Our guest had one of the ultimate platters which had a nice variety and was cooked properly. The other person had the featured salmon plate which had larger pieces that one would expect. And I had a surf 'n turf with red shrimp and sirloin steak (a dicey cut of meat under the best of circumstances). The steak was more tender than I expected and was passable. The shrimp tasted a lot like lobster and the pieces were huge. The wild rice was average and the Brussels sprouts were tough and chewy. But to be fair all of our meals were what we expected from a large chain restaurant. Here are my two negatives ... one is that I realize most restaurants serve the salad course before the entrée, but I have never seen any restaurant bring a bowl of Cole slaw and set it down as the salad course before a fish entrée is served. That's just weird. The other problem is that all of our meals were overpriced. I get that for some reason seafood restaurants think they can get away with being pricey but I won't lie to you, I've paid less at many non-chain fish restaurants where everything is fresh-caught and prepared by a gourmet chef. Their pricing is what would keep me from coming back. There is absolutely nothing at Red Lobster to warrant 3 people paying almost $100 with no cocktails or wine. Going in I knew this is an average chain and my expectations were met. If priced 25-30% lower I could give them 4-stars but that's the thorn that drops them down a point. But I want to be clear that the quality of service was not an issue. It ranged from pretty good to very good. read more

The thing is- we wanted to have a simple quiet meal and talk, but there was REALLY loud music from the 60s playing. It was so odd, and incredibly irritating after a few songs. I don't know who picked that, but they need to rethink their choice. Soft music or even none at all would have really elevated our experience. This place has been such a disappointment this evening. They dont refill our drinks and bring out the wrong food. Glorisha or however you would spell her name is cold and unwelcoming. She puts things on the table and doesnt even say what it is or whose it is. Our other server steven is trying but you can tell his teammate Glorisha is not doing her part in helping him and hes doing everything. They havent even tried to make the experience better. The best thing was the cheese biscuits. Laurie, our server was next. She was friendly and kept hooking us up with more of those yummy biscuits. The New England clam chowder was okay. The Caesar salad had great croutons, dressing and shaved Parmesan, but the Romaine lettuce tasted like it had stayed too long in a plastic bag on the verge of being frozen. My fried bay scallops were tasty and was served with a homemade tartar sauce and commercial cocktail sauce. Don't waste your time on "priority seating" we scheduled ahead of time and for my sons birthday... there was other party's of 5 who did not have priority seating were seated first and we still weren't seated by 7:30. At that point it doesn't matter how good the food is or how good the service is. Amanda is the best thing that has happened to this establishment. For work I am in very social environments and I go out dining quite often as well and it is awesome to meet a person/server such a Amanda and get the pleasure of their presence. She is very welcoming, kind, and attentive. Hands down one of the greasiest servers and just down right a wonderful human being. Always great for a good fun lobster dinner that most if not all can afford. I have always enjoyed it and I tell ppl who are food snobs go take a hike. I've eaten at world class restaurants around the world and had lobster in Thailand and Hawaii in a 2 Michelin restaurant was it better sure but it also cost 8 times as much. My whole visit was summed up with a "Meh." Not bad, but definitely not a really good meal. It was just "OK." They give you salads with your meals, but they taste like they were sitting on the fridge for a long time. Not the worst thing I guess, but just not that good. Food was also just OK. The service was atrocious. The food was barely palatable due to the excessive salt used to prepare it. The iced tea was the only thing that wasn't salty. The shrimp in the trio was mealy and tasted like frozen shrimp defrosted before served. The battered fried shrimp wasn't even Costco brand. The orders were wrong with asparagus instead of broccoli. Where to stop dissecting and find a good except the occasion, I can't figure out. Finally, to top it off we spent over $300 with tip and wasn't worth $30. Huge disappointment and waste of hard earned money. I have absolutely no idea how that place was so busy. There are so many better seafood and restaurants in general that deserve patronage. We went in for my GF's mother's 60 birthday. Why we went there.. no Clue. We had seating for 6 people and we got the smallest table for the 6 of us. Instead of putting two tables together, they took a regular table made for 4 people and put two chairs on the end. We ordered appetizers and drinks... both of which took excessive amount to receive. I had a cocktail and the small tumbler was filled 90% with ice and a very very small amount of cocktail. Everyone ordered their entrees around the table and I ordered the Main Live Lobster with a side of snow crab. The Main Lobster was advertised for $38.00 and the Snow Crabs were advertised for $11.99. When I received my lobster, it smelled REALLY funny. Like sewage and feet, After cracking open the claw, I noticed that the smell was quite putrid. I told the waiter to please look into this and bring me another lobster. In the meanwhile he asked if he could do anything for us. I asked for another drink which he obliged. It took about 17 minutes and counting for our second drink to arrive. Shortly thereafter, my second Lobster came out. By this time, I was ravaging hungry. The lobster still smelled the same but I was annoyed and didn't want to make a scene at the 6th birthday. I opened the back and the meat was slimy flakey. Did not peel of the shell and came off in Gelatinous Clumps. The side of snow crabs could have been mistaken for blue crab legs (because they were so small) and the meat was powdery. The crab meat crumbled and was impossible to get out of the shell. they wound up singing happy birthday to my GF's mother, but the ice cream in the dish was already melt. The candle only stood in the cup due to them putting more whip cream on top. What an embarrassment. I eat lobster and crab frequently and am a routine patron of Joes Crab Shack and Angry Crab (you can read my reviews). They charged me $68 for the lobster and took nothing off the bill for serving me terrible stinky lobster. The waiter even questioned my tip since we had a group of 6. He told me that I should add more since there is a min gratuity. I told him that the bill was split between the party members and that my 18% tip was decent for the 4 people I paid for. The other parties tipped too. This was a terrible experience and ALL 6 of us were sick. Two of us were diagnosed with food poisoning for eating uncooked shellfish. The other 4 stayed up with pepto. I think the management should compensate the patrons if the restaurant served food BAD enough to be taken back and also should compensate for slow service, not scrutinizing the tip. They had no problem charging me $225 for my bill and offering $8.00 food. Will never go back. read more

The three star consensus seems about right, but there are some positives to note. The petting zoo! At least that's what we'll call it. Don't be shy. Ask the receptionist if your little ones can touch one of the lobsters in the tank in the waiting area. On our way in, a bold young woman pulled out the largest lobster in the tank and held it for us. On our way out, a less bold young woman placed the smallest lobster in the tank on a tray. Fun either way. We decided to leave a discussion of the fate of these lobsters for another day. The kids menu. Most items are about six bucks, including a drink and your choice of broccoli or orange slices. Drop ten bucks on snow crab for your little tyke if you must. Birthday songs. Servers will sing for your birthday. Not the most inspired happy birthday renditions ever heard, but there were three birthdays being celebrated this night, so it must be enough to keep people coming back. Note, however, there are no free birthday treats. You must buy a dessert to hold the candle. We opted to share a Chocolate Lava Cookie (about seven bucks), but you can go with a $1.99 kids sundae if the celebration is for a young one. The bread. The warm cheesy bread is awesome. And replenished without apparent limit. The rest of the food? Everything we ordered was fine, from $20 samplers to the $6 kids meals. The adult entrees were not all that expensive, but seemed kind of pricey for what they were. Mostly a lot of bland fried food. Perhaps just mistakes ordering. Service was friendly, but very slow this night. Felt we could have gone to Pete's Fish & Chips and seen a movie with the time and the money saved. The atmosphere, however, would not have been nearly as nice as Red Lobster for the six year old birthday girl who was craving shrimp (and who loves the petting zoo). read more

Dining in Red Lobster is dining in my comfort zone. Going back to 1977, I have been a Red Lobster fan. In my early forties, I continue to be a Red Lobster fan. In 35 years I never got tired of it. So, it is with little surprise that when we visited Phoenix that we would dine in a Red Lobster. For whatever reason, the Cactus Road Red Lobster (near Paradise Valley Mall) was dead on a Friday night. It was the first time in a while that when I visited a Red Lobster that a wait to be seated was nonexistent. If there was a wait, I'm sure that the usual lobster tank would have occupied me for a few minutes. As soon as I saw the "All You Can Eat Shrimp special" on the menu, I was decided. The shrimp special is no joke. There is a choice of four shrimps including shrimp scampi, fried shrimp, and shrimp with linguini. I'll be the first to admit that Red Lobster seafood isn't Wolfgang Puck Gang quality at the same time that I'll admit that it is far better than frozen foods seafood or a burger served in a casual restaurant chain. It wasn't just the all you can eat shrimp and bottomless soda that makes this a good deal for approximately $20. It was also the salad with dressing and house bread. Red Lobster's menu features many entrees that are affordable. I just happened to hit Red Lobster when they featured the "All You Can Eat Shrimp." If it had been another time of the year, I would have ordered shrimp linguini, which comes with a salad and bread. I had zero complaints about the service. Our Waitress was prompt with the refills at the exact time that she did not rush us. Dining in Red Lobster is dining in my comfort zone. As long as I am living and have some green in my pocket, I will return to a Red Lobster throughout the year. read more

I ordered all you can eat shrimp with a side of broccoli. I started with the shrimp skewers and the shrimp was small AND cold. The broccoli was under cooked. When I mentioned the issues to the bartender/waiter, he said he let the kitchen know. No offer to make it right by having at least warm shrimp or offer for a new side dish. The location is not practicing social distancing. The bartender was very frazzled and overwhelmed. You got my $30 today for a meal and a soda, but now I won't be back, ever, unless you bring back your full menu. Is it really too expensive to print an extra piece of paper and offer your full menu, or a separate lunch menu? Not as expensive as annoying and losing customers who eat out daily like me. The restaurants that will survive will offer more value during these times, not less. If I could I would leave negative stars! Took my wife and in-laws to dinner tonight to have "Lobsterfest". Best part of our meal was our server, Jessica, who has worked there for 5 years. She is a credit to her position and deserves a raise. The worse part is that during my dinner TWO TINY SPIDERS fell from the ceiling (or lamp) on my head (the first time)-and arm the 2nd. I told Jessica the first time and she was shocked. The second time I was able to have her come to the table to witness it. She was horrified and got the manager. Managers solution? Give me a $25.00 gift card. On a $200 meal!!!! Couldn't even apply it to tonight why would I want to go back to a dirty reataurant? NOT acceptable. Takeout service is disappointing. With the order already placed, all that has to happen is walking it out to the counter and taking payment. If the kitchen is so far behind that it isn't ready yet- just tell me that. Don't leave me unattended for 10 minutes- with two requests of "Did you tell them I am waiting here?" And finding our side order of fries for 4 was about a 3-person service didn't mollify me either. Come on- given the low cost of potatoes- or just about any side dish- there's an opportunity to pleasantly surprise, deliver as expected, or to disappoint. Our experience at the Red Lobster on Cactus was outstanding. Upon arriving we were immediately greeted by a friendly hostess. I think her name was Cole, but I can't be sure. Our waiter was Collin. He appeared at our table promptly and was pleasant and attentive throughout the meal, checking on us frequently, refilling drinks, and letting us know when the food would be out. The food was ready shortly after placing our orders and tasted delicious. Drinks, food, biscuits, and service were all excellent. My wife has the app, so we got 10% off our order. Collin handled it with ease on the electronic pad, and also ran to the front to retrieve our receipt when we requested a paper one. Everything he did was done cheerfully and well. My wife and I both had the shrimp and scallops daily special. It was delicious with ample portions.
