Was a bit underwhelmed after my first and only attempt at coming here. We had tried to come a number of other times because it looked busy and had great reviews, but had bad luck with either the wait or not being able to find parking in the area. Our problem there was it was always around brunch on a weekend. Decided to come at 9am on a weekday and we were in luck! They had a few tables available. The guy that seated us was awesome! Very friendly and gave us a run-down of the menu. Everything was looking great to this point. Then service took a dive... Our waitress was meh, with no personality. Another person also tended to our table by being our order and he was also meh. They didn't feel approachable, so when my order was wrong, I didn't bother asking for correction. I had the brisket breakfast burrito, which I felt was just okay. It didn't feel very special. Maybe it is for some, but I may just be partial to a standard breakfast burrito with bacon and eggs. My wife and I generally don't like to discuss what we feel about service while we are at restaurants in case one of us felt the experience was great, but when we left, we both agreed it was not what we were expecting. We would return someday, if the stars, parking, and wait times align. read more

Went there for this first time yesterday and had a fantastic breakfast sandwich and coffee (they had a breakfast special of these little hash brown squares that were to die for--ask if they have them, you won't be sorry). Our first here. Had great service. They have a very diverse menu. A separate drink menu with several types of coffee, including some sugar-free options. Decaf not available on drip I have the brisket breakfast burrito, which was fantastic. Serve for the green salsa, which is not too spicy but does have flavor at my table, one person ordered a quesadilla, which they liked And one person ordered an ahi burger, which they enjoyed. They have outdoor seating which they allow dogs. The back of the restaurant has a separate room, which is like an outdoor patio service was good. The only minus was sat by the door. And every time the door was open, we got a cold breeze. I would suggest sitting away from the door. read more

Not a long wait. Walked right in, very clean and bright. Food was great. Got the breakfast burrito and it came with a sauce that was awesome. Also, one of their waffles was really good. Great local brunch / lunch spot! Great middle of the road pricing and portions for great quality food! It actually has a huge menu but I don't assume it's mid. All the food we ordered was amazing! The BEST breakfast Potatoes ever!!!!! Very well seasoned I couldn't stop eating them!! The service was quick and I appreciated how the lattes had effort too! I feel like with places with large menus and brunch spots the coffee menu is what takes a hit and they certainly hit the bar! My chilaquiles were so flavorful and perfect portion! Red Maple is a perfect place to enjoy breakfast, brunch and/or lunch. With a retro diner feel inside, and plenty of outdoor patio seating for anyone with a pooch or a penchant for dining al fresco, you're immediately comfortable and ready to explore their extensive, creative menu. From first greeting to final good-bye, the staff is friendly and very attentive. Our server, Sabrina, was funny and gracious (and quick to offer a bowl of water for our dog), but there's a team style in play here, and everyone made sure we had what we needed as soon as we asked. The food at Red Maple is very well made and full of flavor. As I said, the menu is extensive, with loads of choices regardless of whether you want breakfast or lunch, and they offer quite a lot of Vegan options, which made my son very happy. He ordered the Vegan Fried Chicken Sando, which comes dressed with pickles and a vegan chipotle aioli. I opted for the decidedly non-vegan Mortadella Follia, featuring thinly sliced imported mortadella, straciatella, pistchio cream and crushed pistachios, all on fresh-baked rosemary foccaccia. This is clearly a nod to All'antico Vinaio and the other Italianate sandwich shops opening around town -- but let me tell you, Red Maple's version of this sandwich holds its own and then some. With all fresh ingredients stacked in perfect proportions, the flavors blend while each also manages to play a starring role as you eat. Though not as humongous as the offerings at other shops, this sandwich is still very hearty (I could only eat half), and the bread is lighter, making it far more enjoyable. Crispy, crinkle-cut fries are just the right accompaniment to the sandwiches, though you can get a kale salad instead, if you prefer. And while this review is focused on a pair of sandwiches, trust me when I say they've got bundles of other options for breakfast and lunch, so make a plan immediately to have a fantastic meal. read more

Still loving this place.... :) Their location in Toluca Lake keeps getting cuter and cuter. I love their diner bar ambiance where you can chat with neighbors and make new friends. Their celebri-lattes now offer a code so you can print your own photo! What a great way to surprise a friend! The menu sounded phenomenal! Also the place from the pics looked so cute with a chill vibe. We arrived before 11 and thankfully didn't have to wait. They will not seat you unless the whole party is present. My matcha was good and my friends enjoyed their food. My chilaquiles were however cold. Not one tortilla chip was warm, which made me wonder how long it had been waiting to get picked up for. It was starting to pick up but didn't get to enjoy the food as much. Maybe we caught the staff on an off day, but our recent experience at Red Maple ran contrary to all the current reviews of this establishment. First off, the food was overrated. It started off with finding hair in a horchata latte. No apologies offered or an offer to compensate for the service hygiene lapse. Our order came not as ordered. One person ordered pancakes with syrup and butter and the other ordered pancakes with whipped cream, butter and powdered sugar and both came with missing items. That's surprising since it looked like they took the order via a handheld, therefore there should be no mistake for that error. Next we ordered the fried chicken and lemon velvet waffles with the ube marscapone cream. The chicken was both visually overcooked and texturally overcooked. Perhaps chicken breast was not the best choice for that dish. The waffle didn't have any lemon flavor and was also overcooked, making it difficult to eat. It was dry and lacked any type of syrup to at least make it edible. Also texturally it didn't have a velvety feel or taste of lemon velvet. That said, the service felt a little bit or miss. When asked questions about the menu, the answers were nonexistent. There was a lack of proactively when it came to refills, having to ask myself for it and it just felt like the staff was overwhelmed. Also, the ambiance of the space felt weirdly retro Koo Koo Roo, but didn't really want to do more than that to spiff up the old space. Plus, a word of caution...the parking is only validated for an hour so you'll most likely wind up paying so use your best judgment. Street parking is probably a better option. Overall, with all the exemplary breakfast and brunch locations in this area, Red Maple would not be an option I would recommend. read more

I went for the coffee and design and that was a 5 star. The food quality and the presentation did not match the price for basic breakfast items. We ordered French toast no sides, waffle no side. Waffle added berries no sides. 2 eggs, Potatoes, toast and order of pancake. We paid $100. Also 2 coffees, orange juice and chocolate milk. It was also very loud around 10 am on a Sunday. One hour free parking in the back with validation. I came on a Sunday without wait. I had the fried chicken lemon velvet waffle and it was fine. The waffles were good and I loved the subtle lemon taste. It comes with ube mascarpone and blackberry drizzle on it. The chicken was on the dry side, but overall a good accompaniment to the sweetness of the waffle. The service was good. They have indoor, outdoor and back patio seating. I have to admit looking at this restaurant from the outside, I could not figure the charm of what is waiting inside. A modern American dinner, with a sophisticated touch. The moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that immediately set the tone for the evening. Classic diner charm, comfortable booths and down to earth service without making us feel rushed makes this the perfect girls night out spot. The service was fantastic: quick, friendly and attentive without ever feeling making us feel rushed. You can tell the staff genuinely cares about their guests. The menu has all the diner favorites and everything we ordered was fresh, delicious and not what you would expect from a typical diner. The portions were generous, and everything came out hot and just the way we asked for it. The standout for me was the hamburger: juicy, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection with a toasted bun and crisp toppings. The fries were golden and crispy however because it was late at night, I could smell the grease used fry the potatos. It's rare to find a place that gets everything right: great food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere but Red Maple really does. We love brunch. Period. So when he found a spot that puts celebrities on their lattes, I was in brunch heaven! First off, this place is so cute. Toluca Lake always has great little gems, and this is definitely one of them. The staff were great and the food was so good...we shared their chicken and waffles and that butter! And, of course, I ordered my celebrity latte, Chris Hemsworth! Bonus tip: You can order any latte (they've got a long list) and pick any celebrity on the list you want to sip on. So fun! So fun! I can't wait to come back to Red Maple for brunch. The service was great - LeeAnn was friendly and helpful with navigating the menu. It was really busy, but for a party of 2, we were able to sit at the bar with no wait. They had a bunch of Halloween and breast cancer awareness decorations, very spirited and diner-esque! I absolutely love that custom photos can be printed on the lattes, not to mention the extensive syrup flavor offerings! Rose Vanilla, Toasted Marshmallow, season flavors on top of all this?! If you're in the Burbank/Toluca Lake area this place is a must try. The food is very good as I've had just about everything on the menu. It's in regular rotation for me whether I dine in or take out. It's a small establishment so if you're dining with friends or family get there early as it gets packed quickly. There's something on the menu for everyone so if you have finicky people in your party they still will enjoy. read more

First of all, howwww did it take me this long to come to this place. I've driven by it for years and it always appears pretty packed from the outside. Now I totally get why!! I went for brunch for the first time today (on a Sunday). I called because the google wait list and their website waitlist weren't working. To note, they turn it off when it's busy. I waited about an hour and then the waitlist was back up. It said about 38-52 minutes. Not too bad for a Sunday plus you can add yourself before you get there. They validate parking for one hour in the back but the lot looked a little crowded so I found a spot on the street. Plus with a wait, I knew we'd be here for more than an hour. Wish it was 2 at least! I checked in with host and was told it'd be about 20 mins. I think we waited about 10 and then were seated. They text you when a table is ready. We were sat on the back patio. I had no idea there was one. It's a little packed but they turned the heater on for us since it was a little chilly. Our server was Sabrina. She was super sweet and accommodating!! I got an iced lavender matcha latte with Beyoncé on the top! Super cool thing that they do here. There is a pretty long list of celebrities that they will put on your hot or cold latte. Just FYI for an image on a hot latte, it has to be whole fat or non fat milk. My bf got the horchata lebowkski. Both were delicious. For food, we got the banana berry pancakes and tiramisu French toast, along with a side of scrambled eggs, bacon, and chicken sausage. Everything was 10/10. The salted caramel on the banana berry pancakes was sooo delicious. Best I've ever had. The butter shaped into maple leaves also was a nice touch. Pretty reasonably priced. We spent about $81 total. Everything on the menu looks delicious so I absolutely can't wait to come back and try more of the brunch and the lunch menu. read more

This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. As a former barista, I could immediately tell it was just a plain iced latte. I politely asked the waitress if they had forgotten the syrup, and she insisted, "There is syrup in it, but I can ask them to add more." I knew there wasn't any syrup, but I didn't want to argue, so I said, "Sure, please add more." A few minutes later, the manager came over and told me they actually didn't have salted caramel. So I asked if I could just get a regular caramel latte instead. She then told me they couldn't make that either because they were out of caramel sauce, the very reason they couldn't make the salted caramel in the first place. So why hand me a plain iced latte and tell me it had syrup when you knew you didn't even have the ingredients? Why not simply come back and let me know you were out and ask if I'd like something else? Instead, I was given a regular latte at the price of a flavored one (plus they later charged me for the syrup they never even added). For context, I had originally ordered a dirty chai, which they also couldn't make. So that's two drinks they didn't have, yet no one thought to communicate that before serving me something completely different. When I told the manager I'd look back at the menu for another option, she responded, "Okay... are you going to tell the waitress what drink you want?" I just looked at her, confused, and said, "Well... yeah?" How else was I supposed to order a replacement? The interaction came across as unnecessarily rude. Then it was time to order food. My boyfriend ordered the truffle burger, and I ordered the French toast. The waitress came back a few minutes later and said they couldn't make the French toast. No problem, I told her I'd also have the truffle burger. She acknowledged it, wrote it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and what side I wanted. I ordered it medium-well with fries. So both burger orders were sent in at the same time. About 20 minutes later, the food arrived, but only my boyfriend's burger and an extra side of fries that we never ordered. At that point, we didn't even bother saying anything about the fries because we were trying to avoid making things more difficult. We waited another 20 minutes (even though it was so slow). My boyfriend finished eating, and my burger still hadn't come out. Finally, we asked for the check and requested that my burger be removed since it never arrived. That's when the waitress told us I had never ordered a second burger. I was honestly speechless. I reminded her that she had taken my order after telling me they couldn't make the French toast. She had written it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and asked what side I wanted. Her response was that she thought I meant only my boyfriend's burger. That explanation made no sense because my boyfriend's order had already been taken before she took mine. It honestly felt like we were being gaslit over something as simple as ordering a burger. To make matters worse, after we paid and were finally leaving, I looked at the receipt and realized I had been charged for the salted caramel latte that I never actually received. We had to go back yet again. Thankfully, a different employee, not the waitress or the manager helped us. They were friendly, understanding, and quickly corrected the charge. I'm not sure if management has changed, but this entire experience was unnecessarily frustrating from beginning to end. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Honestly, I should've taken the "B" health grade posted on the window as a warning. We ended up walking over to Blue Bottle next door for coffee instead, and I'd absolutely recommend going there if you're looking for a place that actually values customer service. After four years of coming to Zinc, this experience has me seriously questioning whether I'll ever be back.

It's become one of our go-to breakfast spots. My usual order is the pancakes, bacon, and eggs. The pancakes are big, fluffy, and definitely filling. My favorites are the chocolate chip pancakes and the banana pancakes. One of my friends always orders the shrimp and grits, and on our most recent visit another friend tried the shrimp omelet and really enjoyed it. They also have mimosas, which are a nice treat after a long shift. The staff is always friendly, and despite how busy it can get, the service has been consistently good. The restaurant can get pretty crowded, but since we're usually getting off work, we arrive around 8 a.m. and don't have much trouble getting seated. The only downside for me is the pricing. Breakfast here isn't cheap, but I will say that I always leave full and satisfied, so the portions definitely help justify the cost. Overall, if you're looking for a solid breakfast spot with generous portions, good food, friendly staff, and a lively atmosphere, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try.

Totally doable for a group, just expect it to be a bit tight. For parking, there's limited valet only spots in front of the shop, but you can also park further away for free.

The line was around 20 minutes long on a Saturday afternoon. Like most spots in ktown, the parking lot is limited and you'll likely need to find street parking, but it is definitely worth the hype!

This is a local favorite for us. We come often as the food, the prices, and staff are awesome. I am the parent of a blind son that has used a service dog for 35 years. I'm very familiar with the laws of being in public with our dog, including dining out (which we do almost daily) The couple next to us had a dog with them. The woman had it in her arms. The staff asked two questions 1. Is this a service animal? What service does this animal perform? I'm used to these questions as I've always been asked these. The couple were immediately offended. Service animals are allowed almost everywhere in restaurants, except the kitchen and sitting on the seats etc. I tried to be helpful and explain to them that as someone with service animal experience for decades, it was allowed to ask those questions. She snapped at me "I'm going to get all of my friends to destroy this place with bad reviews" So out of curiosity, I checked yelp today. Suddenly I see several reviews about this incident. How petty. If someone has a legitimate review it helps us all...good and bad. We look to these reviews to help us decide where to spend our money. If food or service is bad I appreciate honest reviews. But if reviews are being weaponized against a small business, that's really sad. The staff member calmly asked two questions and the couple caused a scene and escalated the whole thing. The tables around me all felt bad for the staff. These reviews of people walking out in anger? I would love them to post receipts of the date/time they were there, because after the couple stormed out several if not most of the customers agreed the couple took it too far. Laws vary around the country but I'm including a photo about animals being on seats. Years ago we used to do that too, but it's changed and most restaurants ask us to keep our service animal off the seats. We've also eaten there with our friends that have dogs and they are really nice about it. We just sit on the patio. read more

Now, that I've moved from Toluca Lake to Mar Vista, it's quite a different trek to get to and from Red Maple: 3 bus lines and a trip on the subway. Typically it can take up to 2 hours to get there and 3 or more to get back. But, I consider it worth it. I love being a part of the Red Maple dining experience. I appreciate the owners, Brian and Jim, always making me feel good and important. I typically go on a Friday. I spend the afternoon there and enjoy a wonderful meal, a coffee or soda, and then enjoy a walk around the Toluca Village. Hey, money is pretty! Not only am I a writer, but I also DJ. My library of music is largely 1950s-1980s. Brian and Jim book me to DJ their special events and I really love sharing my collections with the restaurant and the customers. I can highly recommend just about every plate on the menu. Wonderful service and Servers. Competitive pricing, and a very fun ambience. I wish the best for the restaurant! And, being directly across the street from Trader Joe's doesn't hurt, either! read more

A+ all around. They have a wide variety of flavors, from ube to avocado to blackberry Cabernet to Madagascar Vanilla Bean. The ingredients are all natural and you can really tell in the taste. We opted for the strawberry cheesecake and it was fantastic. A small is probably enough to share for two. The customer service is spectacular. Very nice people. You can try all 16 flavors if you desire. You might be full after that though! They have lattes and macchiatos and lots of coffee and hot drinks. The hot latte with whole milk was a nice balance, lightly sweet. Printing your face on a hot drink is fun. You download the Coffee Ripple app and it will transfer the pic to the printer. Red Maple is one of a handful of places in California that has it. It was hard to decide which pic to use! We took forever to choose. I might come back to print one for my mom or get one with my pups haha. Fun but you won't want to drink it! read more

What a pleasant surprise our recent dinner at this spot turned out to be! Exploring the menu, we sampled a variety of dishes, and let me tell you, each one was a winner. Personally, I couldn't get enough of the TikTok coffee and the Beyoncé coffee- unique flavors and fun names! And let's talk ambiance - it's got that classic LA vibe that transports you right into a scene from a movie dinner. The cozy atmosphere really adds to the whole experience. Came out with the family for breakfast. We checked in online, showed up, and yeah -- had a little bit of a wait. No big deal. It was raining, patio was closed -- everybody in L.A. acts like they've never seen water falling from the sky. Place was packed, but they had it down. Staff was moving people through, nobody was losing their minds. Pretty impressive, honestly. Now, the food -- absolute fire. I had the breakfast burrito -- thing was insane, just loaded and perfect. Wife got the portobello eggs Benedict -- unreal. And get this -- my kids, who usually pick at food like they're doing an autopsy, asked for a box so they could bring leftovers home. Never seen that happen before. Hands down one of the best breakfast spots I've hit in L.A. in a long time. We're definitely coming back -- no question. read more

Stopped by Red Maple recently and had a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The restaurant had a warm, welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to relax and enjoy the meal. We odered a variety of dishes, and each one arrived fresh, beautifully presented, and full of rich flavor. The ingredients tasted high quality, and every bite showed great attention to detail. The staff were friendy, attentive, and cheked in regularly without being intrusive. The portions were satisfying and offered excellent value for the quality provided. Absolutely amazing from start to finish! The food was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Every bite was delicious, and you can really tell they put care into the quality of each dish. Everything came out hot, well-presented, and exceeded my expectations. The service was just as impressive.
