    * Amazing customer service * Delicious food * Validated parking * Casual and kid friendly ambiance From the moment we walked in, the customer service was on point! Bryan, the owner, greeted us and took great care of our party of 11 adults and 1 child. We came to celebrate my sister's graduation, and when we asked if they could seat a party of 12, he said, "Give me a few minutes, I'll make something work for you guys." And he did! Such a thoughtful touch we had ordered the signature tater tots, but Bryan came out to let us know he already had complimentary tots coming to our table to honor the graduate and gave us the option to cancel our order. I had the tinga tostadas, which were the perfect size for me. We also tried the mac and cheese, perfect for the baby, with croutons on the side. The green chilaquiles were a bit sour and not spicy, but the brisket burger was juicy and tasty, and the seasoned fries were great. The fried chicken velvet waffles were unexpectedly flavorful and different definitely a must-try! We also had the coconut cream latte with my sister's picture on it, which was super cute and tasty. All in all, if you're in the neighborhood, this place is worth trying. We will definitely be back when visiting my sister!

Red Mapel is an OK restaurant. And, I use that term OK very descriptively. It's certainly not bad, but it's also not great. It's just OK. At least in my opinion. In terms of their layout, they have their main dining area, which I considered to be a little impacted. The tables are very close to each other, and generally, even when the booths are open, the host doesn't sit couples there. They seemingly wait for larger groups. I understand that but occasionally they will sit couples in one of the booths like when I arrived this morning, there was a couple sitting in one of the booths. When we inquired about a table, there was a separate booth that was still available. But we were not offered to sit there.. So, I don't really know what the formula is? It seems to be non-descriptive. Meaning, a bit judgmental. The restaurant also has their forward patio. This is out in front of the restaurant, along Riverside Drive. If the sun's on the patio, this can be kind of trying. But, if you get there when the sun is off the patio, this may be your choice for a place to dine. They also have a rear enclosed patio area. This is a small area with just a few tables. But, you are protected from the sun and you do get some of the breeze blowing through. So, it may be a more enjoyable place to dine than the interior dining area. They also have some tables that line the street. As long as you're in the shade, this isn't a bad place to sit. But, you are going to get the cars starting up, parking, and things like that if you sit in this area. In terms of food, again, it's OK. Not great. Just OK. I guess it suits its purpose. This restaurant has a fairly large menu. So, you have a lot of choices to choose from. This is a very popular restaurant, so I guess many people take a different view of it than I do. Meaning, there's times when you will have to wait to get a table. So, if you're coming here midday keep that in mind. Overall, if you're in the Toluca Lake area, this may be a place for you to enjoy a meal.

Red Maple was such a pleasant surprise. As a Yelp Elite, I'm always excited to discover new spots, and this one absolutely delivered. A recommendation brought me here, and now I completely understand why they're ranked #48 on Yelp's Top 100 Places to Eat in LA. I tried the Vegan Egg & Cheese Breakfast Burrito with chorizo and loved that they also offer tofu, Beyond, vegan chick'n, and vegan steak options. I also tried the tofu skillet loaded with veggies, quinoa, black beans, corn tortillas, salsa, and a side salad. Nothing about the vegan menu felt like an afterthought. A special thank you to Brian for hosting me and to Delmy for being such a friendly, kind, and sweet waitress. The hospitality made the experience even better. The breakfast menu is available daily from 8 AM to 4 PM, which is another huge plus. I'll definitely be back.

Amazing staff and service! Aesthetically pleasing on the inside and very spacious! This restaurant is so creative and I'm bummed out I didn't come sooner! The staff is so patient and I really appreciate it! They have customized iced coffees with any picture on top of the coffee! The breakfast sandwich was delicious and filling but not too heavy and the egg scramble came with potatoes that were the perfect seasoning, and bread!

This was our first time visiting this restaurant. We put our name on the waitlist and didn't have to wait at all when we got to the restaurant. The hostess was efficient and gave us a nice table. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. The food came out quick too! The chicken sandwich was amazing! I think the best I've ever had.The yuzu slaw had the right amount of sweetness to add to the sandwich. I think I could eat this again tomorrow it was so good! My husband had the scramble which he created and he said it was really good and not greasy. We definitely would come back here and tell our friends and family. Thank you for the amazing food!

There's a shared parking lot behind the restaurant with 2hr validation, as well as free street parking (read the signs). The restaurant is immaculate with very attentive service, almost too much so. We were checked on many times. There was no wait at 11am on a Thursday but then it got busier. We really enjoyed the Red Maple Signature Tater Squares & cheese sauce that were a Today's Special. I liked my tuna melt and salad and had to take half home because there was so much tuna. My friend expected her Seared Ahi Burger to be cooked a little more than it was but didn't want to send it back (we mentioned it after and were told they would've cooked it more for her). I would definitely go back!

Red Maple is a quintessential brunch cafe in the heart of Toluca Lake. Located on a nice corner lot, there was a cute farmer's market right outside on a Sunday morning, perfect to browse before dining in. We had a reservation for 7 people and the staff had everything set up for us when we got there. The service was exceptional! Order taking was super efficient and we felt extremely well taken care of. There was indoor and outdoor seating and both looked quite comfortable. Foam Art Lattes: You can choose a picture to put on your latte foam or update a custom pic! Super cool idea and the pics came out so nice! Very unique. Brisket breakfast burrito: Really good breakfast burrito and quite filling. Brisket was good and I substituted vegan JustEggs and that was also great! Chicken and Waffles: Had a nice lemon flavor and chicken was well seasoned. Ube Banana Pancakes: Three thick and fluffy pancakes that had a hint of ube, but wish there was more flavor. Texture was good, but it was a meal all by itself.

We had not been to this location since it was 'The Counter' and we regret that. This is such a better experience than the previous and we will definitely be coming back. Brian was wonderful at the front host desk with a smile and a positive attitude, even with the Sunday brunch crowd causing a 15-20 minute wait. We ordered the Single Smash Burger with Seasoned Fries and were not disappointed. Rachel, our waitress, was accommodating with all the requests, and the food came out exactly as it was ordered. Kudos. It was a busy Sunday, but the atmosphere was very casual and not overtly loud or noisy. We will definitely be coming back and are kicking ourselves that it took us this long to patron this place. Don't make our mistake. BTW, Lance was amazing, always checking on our table and was very knowledgeable about the menu, especially praising the turkey lasagna soup. We are going to get that when we return!!

Brunch here is 10/10! Everything was delicious and we got everything pretty quickly despite them looking busy. Our server was fantastic and took great care of us :) We sat outside on the front patio and it was so nice, minus the loud cars lol. Afterwards they had a little pride event going on in the parking lot which was also a lot of fun!

A breakfast that checked every box and then some! My friend and I shared the traditional breakfast with a side of French toast, and it was executed beautifully: fluffy eggs, perfectly crispy bacon, and just the right touch of butter and syrup alongside the French toast. Nothing was overdone, nothing was missing. What really stood out, though, was our server Rachel. With a menu this extensive, having someone who truly knows it makes all the difference. She was knowledgeable, precise, and genuinely helpful -- the kind of service that makes you feel taken care of without being hovered over. And the latte art? A delightful little bonus that made the morning feel just a bit more special. It's a small touch, but it's the kind of thing that turns a good breakfast into a memorable one.

Came here around 1pm on a Saturday by myself and it was definitely loud and crowded, but I was seated surprisingly quickly which was nice. Service was fast overall, although it felt a little, dare I say, aloof and I didn't feel especially welcomed. Not bad service, just not particularly warm. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla and substituted the chili lime bacon for turkey bacon, which probably changes the intended flavor profile a bit, so keep that in mind. Overall though, the quesadilla itself was really good. The texture stood out immediately; creamy from the avocado and fluffy scrambled eggs, with everything tasting very clean and fresh. The spinach tortilla added a nice flavor too, although I do wish it had been a little warmer and toasted & crispy since parts of it were slightly soft and mushy. The peach iced tea was excellent. Organic and unsweetened, very refreshing. The breakfast potatoes were decent. They tasted fresh and had roasted sweet red peppers and onions mixed in, which made them a little more interesting than standard diner potatoes. Personally, though, I prefer breakfast potatoes with more crisp and crunch, and these leaned softer and more baked than crispy. They still tasted good overall and honestly probably felt a bit lighter because they weren't heavily fried. Overall, everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. It feels like an elevated diner/brunch experience with higher quality ingredients. I'd definitely come back to try other menu items.

This place was a great brunch spot. We went in the middle of the week so we didn't have a probably getting seated immediately. I loved being able to put a picture on my latte that was awesome. I will definitely be coming back here to try other items on the menu. It's such a cute spot. There's parking on the street or in the back and if you validate it's free for an hour I believe.

It remains a unique addition to the neighborhood, as well as a good place to grab some interesting dishes. Since the opening of this particular business, the Zinc chain has opened in a few other locations. Those locations are much newer in not only their establishment but their design. This is not to say that this is still not an interesting, well-designed business, but, with time, it has become a little bit rundown. I hate to say it, but that is the truth. This location could really use an update and perhaps a deep cleaning. I was, in fact, kind of surprised at the condition of this business, for example, on the way towards their restrooms. From my opinion, it needs an clean up and an update. Also, the litter that surrounded some of the outdoor tables where I was sitting at my most recent visit was very surprising. This is just something to keep in mind if you're coming here for your first visit. In terms of what they offer for food, though it has evolved a bit over the years, they still have a great, heath-based menu, with some very interesting choices. For all of you vegetarians and vegans out there, you will, for sure, be able to find some tasty food to eat. Once upon a time, this restaurant was impacted with tons and tons of people. It was constantly full with people either going to the bakery and/or sitting down for table service. Shortly past their opening each day, there would be a line of people waiting for service. This seems to have changed, however. Meaning, if you're looking for an interesting place to eat, with some good dishes, at the far Southeast side of DTLA, near the lofts district, and you want a place without a long wait to get a table and/or your food, this may still be your place to go.

This was, without a doubt, the worst experience I've ever had at Zinc. I've been coming here on and…read moreoff for the past four years and have never experienced customer service this bad. We started with coffee. My boyfriend ordered a mocha, and I ordered a salted caramel latte. His drink was fine, but mine had absolutely no flavoring. As a former barista, I could immediately tell it was just a plain iced latte. I politely asked the waitress if they had forgotten the syrup, and she insisted, "There is syrup in it, but I can ask them to add more." I knew there wasn't any syrup, but I didn't want to argue, so I said, "Sure, please add more." A few minutes later, the manager came over and told me they actually didn't have salted caramel. So I asked if I could just get a regular caramel latte instead. She then told me they couldn't make that either because they were out of caramel sauce, the very reason they couldn't make the salted caramel in the first place. So why hand me a plain iced latte and tell me it had syrup when you knew you didn't even have the ingredients? Why not simply come back and let me know you were out and ask if I'd like something else? Instead, I was given a regular latte at the price of a flavored one (plus they later charged me for the syrup they never even added). For context, I had originally ordered a dirty chai, which they also couldn't make. So that's two drinks they didn't have, yet no one thought to communicate that before serving me something completely different. When I told the manager I'd look back at the menu for another option, she responded, "Okay... are you going to tell the waitress what drink you want?" I just looked at her, confused, and said, "Well... yeah?" How else was I supposed to order a replacement? The interaction came across as unnecessarily rude. Then it was time to order food. My boyfriend ordered the truffle burger, and I ordered the French toast. The waitress came back a few minutes later and said they couldn't make the French toast. No problem, I told her I'd also have the truffle burger. She acknowledged it, wrote it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and what side I wanted. I ordered it medium-well with fries. So both burger orders were sent in at the same time. About 20 minutes later, the food arrived, but only my boyfriend's burger and an extra side of fries that we never ordered. At that point, we didn't even bother saying anything about the fries because we were trying to avoid making things more difficult. We waited another 20 minutes (even though it was so slow). My boyfriend finished eating, and my burger still hadn't come out. Finally, we asked for the check and requested that my burger be removed since it never arrived. That's when the waitress told us I had never ordered a second burger. I was honestly speechless. I reminded her that she had taken my order after telling me they couldn't make the French toast. She had written it down, asked how I wanted it cooked, and asked what side I wanted. Her response was that she thought I meant only my boyfriend's burger. That explanation made no sense because my boyfriend's order had already been taken before she took mine. It honestly felt like we were being gaslit over something as simple as ordering a burger. To make matters worse, after we paid and were finally leaving, I looked at the receipt and realized I had been charged for the salted caramel latte that I never actually received. We had to go back yet again. Thankfully, a different employee, not the waitress or the manager helped us. They were friendly, understanding, and quickly corrected the charge. I'm not sure if management has changed, but this entire experience was unnecessarily frustrating from beginning to end. Everything that could have gone wrong did. Honestly, I should've taken the "B" health grade posted on the window as a warning. We ended up walking over to Blue Bottle next door for coffee instead, and I'd absolutely recommend going there if you're looking for a place that actually values customer service. After four years of coming to Zinc, this experience has me seriously questioning whether I'll ever be back.

There is a small seating area, and the seats weren't particularly comfortable, but the space seems intended more for a quick stop rather than a long sit-down meal. I ordered the beignet, breakfast po'boy sandwich, and chicken and waffles. - The beignet tasted good, but the portion was quite small. - The egg in the breakfast po'boy was burnt, which affected the overall flavor. - The chicken and waffles tasted like frozen food that had been reheated rather than freshly made. On the positive side, the service was very kind and friendly. However, overall the food was disappointing.

It's a walk-up bar, which already gives it a unique, casual vibe--but what really makes it stand out is the crowd. The people here are eccentric in the best way: a mix of creatives, professionals unwinding after work, and groups just looking to have a great time. It creates an atmosphere that's lively, interesting, and never boring. The bartenders deserve a shoutout because the service is consistently on point. They're friendly, attentive, and know how to keep things moving even when it gets busy. You can tell they take pride in what they're serving. One of the best features of Bar Prank is the layout. There's a ton of seating, which makes it perfect for just about any situation--whether you're coming solo for a quick drink, meeting friends after work, or pulling up with a big group ready to take over a section. Add in the TVs around the bar, and it's an easy choice if you want a laid-back spot to catch a game or just hang out. Now let's talk drinks. During Golden Hour, the Old Fashioned is an absolute steal at $10. I tried it both smoky and regular, and both versions were excellent--smooth, flavorful, and well-balanced. You really can't go wrong with either. The food also holds its own. Whether you're grabbing chicken strips or just looking for something to snack on with your drinks, it hits the spot and complements the overall experience. I used to frequent Bar Prank a few years ago when I lived downtown, and coming back recently, I can honestly say it's just as good as I remember--if not better. It's one of those dependable spots that delivers every time. If you're in DTLA and looking for a fun, versatile bar with great drinks, solid food, and a memorable crowd, Bar Prank is definitely worth checking out.

Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared, with authentic flavors and quality ingredients that stood out from the first bite to the last. The ambiance was welcoming and the art was tasteful. What truly elevated the experience was the service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the meal. They were quick to offer recommendations and ensured everything was perfect without being intrusive. We ordered the tostaditas de atún agua chile negro, beet salad, carne asada taco and Al pastor taco and watched the World Cup game. Distrito Catorce combines exceptional food, a great atmosphere, and top-notch service. It's the kind of place that leaves you planning your next visit before you've even finished your meal. Definitely plan on coming back to watch more World Cup games.

To be honest, I was already biased because his Smorgasburg pop-ups were consistently good. But Distrito Catorce is different , it's like art. My favorite dish was the tacos de papa with salsa macha. The crunch of the potato taco riding into the salsa macha and crema felt like home, but with some extra pop. His salsa game is on point. The scallion salsa on the ribeye taco was also gas. Lastly, I really dug the tostadita de atún. It hit perfectly on these hot summer days. Low-key, I still want to try the El Rey de Noche. Tacos de beef trompo are starting to hit LA, and dude was ahead of the curve making picanha-brisket tacos de trompo. Service is smooth too. The servers are helpful, and solid at the bar. Overall, it's a cool spot with a menu that feels unique to LA.

The outdoor space was absolutely beautiful and the perfect setting to celebrate with my closest friends and family. We did a family-style brunch, and let me tell you, they did not miss. We started with the arugula salad, Louisiana shrimp aguachile, and cream biscuits. Those biscuits? Listennnn. Order them. Fight over them if you have to. lol They were THAT good! For the main dishes, we shared the French toast, chilaquiles, and shrimp and grits, along with house-made bacon and butterball potatoes. The French toast and bacon were my favorites by far. My goodness. I am still thinking about them. The shrimp and grits were also perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. What made me laugh was that our group is usually very chatty. There was so much talking, catching up, and laughing. Then the food arrived and suddenly all you heard were forks and spoons hitting plates followed by a bunch of "mmm," "oh wow," and "girl! you've got to try this." That's when you know the food is doing its job. Our server was amazing and took such great care of us. Everything came out smoothly, and we never felt rushed. Between the beautiful setting, incredible food, and being surrounded by people I love, it was one of those afternoons I'll always remember. I'll absolutely be back, and those biscuits and French toast will be the first things I order.
