Before covid, Decoy was known as one of the best places to get Peking duck. During covid, the restaurant was merged but while before this duck was a specialty, it's now an afterthought and the dish is sadly no longer great. The biggest drop is simply in the quality. The duck used to be plump, flavorful and fresh. Now it's clearly been sitting around for a few days. It's dry, with torn up bits of duck instead of whole cuts of breast meat. It's really sad to see what's become of a once great duck institution and we won't be back. read more

3.5 rounding up to 4. we stopped here for a weekend lunch and ordered the pastrami egg roll, spicy crispy beef, sea bass with black bean sauce and udon noodles with grilled short rib. the dishes we ordered were mostly good but not standout. the pastrami egg roll was pretty much what you'd expect, tasted like a pastrami sandwich but with a fried casing. spicy crispy beef was very tasty, i would recommend ordering this if you come here. udon with short rib was also good, the short ribs were very tender. i was looking forward most to the sea bass, but the fish was overcooked as well as the side of vegetables it came with. the black bean sauce was delicious though. prices here are not cheap. ambience is cute and service here is friendly. we didn't get their famed peking duck but i may be back to try that. i wouldn't go out of my way to come here for their food other than the peking duck, though. read more

First time here and I must say it was an excellent experience. The food was outstanding, and so flavorful. Everything seemed so fresh. I had a bunch of food, but what stood out the most was the lamb empanadas believe it or not. The service was great. We had a very attentive and knowledgeable server. We had a nice dinner here in Thanksgiving with our New-York-resident son, who often comes here. There was a nice list of cocktails but only OK list of beers - no draft and nothing dark and flavorful. We had two kinds of dumplings, and pork with wide noodles. But especially interesting were the spicy crispy beef, and corn on the cob with basil and lemongrass (and plenty of hot peppers thank you), as well as the scallion pancakes topped with crispy onion-- excellent. Terrifying food safety. I, had a bone inside my fried rice. Not a typo. A bone. I almost choked on it, spit it out, verified that it was indeed a BONE In my VEGGIE fried rice. Spoke to the host who then started yelling at me for "making a scene" and suggested that I had placed it there myself. I asked for it taken off my bill and they said no. Our friends suggested we go to RedFarm. Really liked the atmosphere inside but it was bustling so we sat outside. Katz 's Egg Rolls were pretty delicious. Short Rib Beef Udon Noodles was also perfectly delicious. Pastrami Egg Roll were equally fantastic. All the food served around us looked equally tasty. Definitely worth a visit again. read more

Spur of the moment dinner outing means we didn't have reservations during dinner rush. Craig at the front desk welcomed us in like family and found a table for my party of four within 10 minutes. We ate family-style and had a fabulous meal. Consider RedFarm dim sum-inspired. No carts coming around but the portions are meant to be shared. Ambiance is a bit loud and bustling but the staff are always at hand to make sure you have what you need, and then some. I was pleasantly surprised by the Pastrami Egg Roll and the sauteed snow pea leaves and garlic, fresh and tasty. The Bacon Fried Rice was smoky and had an excellent depth of flavor and the Jump Shrimp Curry was a shareable and delicious main dish. 10/10 would come back and look forward to it. read more

Is RedFarm bad? No, of course not. But this place is insanely overpriced for what they serve. Sure, the quality is high, but this place is set up like a casual restaurant and the portions are tiny. We went in for lunch and I had a pastrami egg roll & the pork and crab soup dumplings. The pastrami egg roll was great and, despite being $14, was not insanely priced. This thing is stuffed with pastrami and is actually quite good. The pork & crab dumplings were OK. I totally agree that soup dumplings can be high end... but my favorite soup dumplings in the city (Shanghai Asian Cuisine in Chinatown) are like 5x better and 1/5 the price. I am not necessarily opposed to paying $19 for soup dumplings, they should be significantly better quality than the cheaper options. We saw what others around us got as well - the portions are just so tiny. Hot and sour soup for $21 with exactly 2 shrimp in it? Veggie fried rice for $21.50? And no one around us seemed overly thrilled. Two of the tables by us complained about the wait times. Had high expectations but probably won't be back. For $35 for an egg roll and four dumplings, I was hoping that at least both those items would blow me away. Needless to say, left hungry and not all that happy. I just love the crispy beef at Red Farm! It pleases all the senses... a little sweet, a little spice, some acidity, and a nice crunchy chew! It's a big yum! The hot & Sour soup is the best anywhere. Period. Loaded with little mushrooms and a perfectly grilled prawn on top! The soft shell crab was set on this sweet & sour sauce that I could drink! The strips of fried eggplant should be a dish of their own. The shrimp and snow pea dumplings are my favorite. They are magic makers of dumpling wrappers here. They have little eyes that look at you as if to say, "yes, I am one sexy bite!" Get the Peking Duck!!! It's such a wonderful treat! I like the hoisin sauce, both the other two are pretty darn tasty. Really good food but way overpriced in my opinion. On one of my last trips to NY right after moving to LA I met one of my friends here for dinner. I wanted to try RedFarm and she really liked the place so we agreed to meet here for dinner. The atmosphere, service, and quality of food are all above average. However, I find that the menu prices are way above what they should be. Not sure if it's coz this is the UWS but to be frank, there are plenty other modern Chinese restaurants that deliver far superior dishes than RedFarm and are either less expensive or on the same price point. Went there on a Wednesday night with my daughter on her suggestion. Make reservations the place was busy. And good reason. Food is good. We made 8:15 reservations and we were seated on time. Place has a good vibe. A bit loud and crowded. But not a big deal. We ordered the duck lettuce wraps. Very good. Had the shrimp and pork dumplings. I thought we would get a couple of shrimp and a couple pork. But they were combined. They were ok. Then we shared mussels and clams in a curry broth and vegetable fried rice. Rice was good. Kknda wished there was more curry sauce. Or maybe a piece of bread or different serving dish. We loved the food. Our waitress was great. And so was the service. Just missed a 5 star. Also. I've only had delivery from this Chinese fusion restaurant, but the food is delicious. The only problem is, it's not cheap, especially considering the portion sizes. So this place may not be for your everyday Chinese dinner, but it's great for when you want a treat. I tried the BBQ'd Beef Fried Rice ($27.95+) for the first time tonight and it was delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection--so soft and chewy. And it had plenty of vegetables, like broccoli, snow peas and scallions. Another one of my favorites is the Pan Fried Pork Buns ($15+). It comes with 4 little bite-sized pork buns, so it is pricey for sure, but they are so tasty. Looking forward to dining in person soon! read more

One of our favorite go-to restaurants in NYC when we have visitors or just want some delicious Asian fusion dim sum. Fun to share the dishes, which just keep coming (ask for them to send the food out as it's ready!). Never have room for dessert--the food is too good! The food had a blend of all different sorts of Asian cuisine - we got the cold Asian sesame noodles, the jumbo shrimp curry, vegetable fried rice, and Pac-man rainbow dumplings. The Pac-man was actually a sweet potato on top of a corn and avocado dip! My favorite was by far the vegetable fried rice. They included jicama in it, which was really unexpected but super tasty. My boyfriend quite liked the Asian sesame noodles and the dumplings. Overall, the place was good, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come again. Possibly one of my fave spots in the city. Stopped by for an anniversary dinner and it didn't disappoint. We grabbed the pastrami egg rolls, the five flavor chicken dumplings, the classic 3 chili chicken, and the special shrimp stuffed crispy chicken. The pastrami egg rolls were fine and so were the dumplings. Good starters and the egg rolls always good for someone's first time. The chili chicken is great as always, but the stuffed crispy chicken? Boy oh boy, what a let down. I'm confused as to all the wonderful reviews because I assumed at this price point this was going to be somewhat of a mid dinning experience. The decor is dreadful, with to go chopsticks and the waiters are in shorts and T shirts. The food really was only slightly better than your local Chinese but four times the price. There was a shrimp tail inside my dumpling, yes my $25 dumpling had a hard shrimp tail in it. As a kind gesture for the inconvenience the manager stopped us as we were leaving the restaurant after our meal to say "I was going to send you free dessert" well that's nice but we have paid and left the building already so thanks for nothing. We reserved a table AND a duck for the 3 of us , a week in advance, for our traditional New Year's Eve family Peking Duck dinner (early since we'll be in Tennessee all next week). We were inspired to try after stumbling upon the chef's duck preparation on YouTube. It was bitter cold this particular evening (15 degrees) & the room was periodically filled with cold blasts. The waitstaff were smiling & attentive throughout the evening. The hostess asked if we'd like to move further in if a table cleared. Very thoughtful but we declined. So...we'd preordered the duck (strongly recommended if that's why you're going) along with the string beans with Brussels fried garlic & ginger and the vegetable spring rolls. The vegetable dish arrived first. Nicely browned. Perfectly cooked, a bit of crunch & delicious. The spring rolls followed and were golden brown, crispy & flavorful but we didn't find the accompanying sauce very complimentary. The spring rolls stood up quite well alone though. A few moments later the duck was presented with thin fresh pancakes the typical thinly sliced cucumbers & scallions and 3 sauces (hoisin, peanut & sesame and cranberry). Ultimately we ALL favored the traditional hoisin as it just pairs better than anything else. The duck flesh was juicy & succulent. The skin nice & crispy. The chefs also centered the plate with many pulled chunks of delicious dark meat under the crispy skin cover. We ordered a key lime pie with lemon sorbet to share for dessert which was simply outstanding and a nice finish to a very good meal. We've had Peking duck throughout Hong Kong, Beijing and NYC Chinatown. Red Farm was a fine example. However, the $115 price tag is a tough pill to swallow. We normally have our New Year's Eve Peking duck at Ping's Seafood in Chinatown. Ping's whole duck is executed exceptionally as well...but comes in at $78. I'd encourage a visit to Red Farm, but I'll likely go to Ping's to satisfy our annual duck tradition. read more

One of the only restaurants where I always crave the food and don't mind waiting in the summer heat or winter cold for a table even if it's at the communal one. Sigh, where to begin. Looking forward to a terrific meal, ended up with chicken that was either grown in a lab or frozen four years ago and cooked out of deep freeze before landing on the plate.
