Hubbers and I were trying to figure out where to get grub while the pups were running around and doing their thing at the nearby dog park. Sadly, we couldn't agree on a spot, so we decided to take a little cruise in the riviera area and see where we end up. Then we saw this place. While on a red light, I pulled it up on Yelp to see if they're dog friendly - yep! Green light went on, we made a left, and another left into their parking lot. And it dawned on me: I've been here before: it used to be Ragin' Cajun! (And I remember enjoying my visits here back then!) I was a little bummed it's gone but delighted at the same time to learn they maintained some items on the menu that I enjoyed back in the day. We were seated at the patio area which is really nice, by the way. It's very roomy, and the seats and tables are spaced out well. Plenty of room to place both pups we had on hand. And what a treat for them: there's a dog menu! Hubbers and I decided to do an ala carte / share everything kinda meal. GUMBOLAYA: Just as good as the last time I had it under that previous moniker. Packed with flavor delicious. They were generous with the amount of chicken and sausage. Awesome starter. LOUISIANA GRILLED OYSTERS: It's one of those must eat ASAP (but also try not to burn your mouth) because it's best to have while hot. Not as great like the ones we had at NOLA, but not too bad either. Some were over charred, and seasoning needs a little more umph, but overall, still good, SHRIMP PO'BOY WITH A SIDE OF ONION RINGS: Onion rings were perfectly seasoned and fried. The po-boy was bigger than we expected so we were glad we shared it! Vege was fresh, nice sized and seasoned shrimp. The half was plenty for me - too much even that I saved half of that for an afternoon snack! Delish. SALMON AND RICE (for our fur babies): Well worth the price. They gave us plenty even when split in two. They, too, had leftovers for dinner, FOOD: 3.5. Above par, overall. SERVICE: 5. Our server (didn't catch his name, booooo on me!) was attentive and friendly. He even put up with our dogs' incessant barking and told us he understood - he's a dog parent himself! VALUE: 4. PARKING: Private lot. Street parking also available. OVERALL: 4. So glad they're still here, even under a new name. Keeping them in my radar not only for the pups but for good eats and possibly happy hour!

Brought the family here on a Saturday night to see the basketball game and have some dinner to start off. The service was A+. Everyone was really nice and helpful. The menu has a lot of good items. Basic bar food. I really liked my chicken wrap. The fried pickles are really good and the brownie sundae was excellent. The place is really cool. It's got a lot of TVs full bar.Cool bar area good music playing. Food was good, prices weee decent, just be aware that they charge you 3% for using your credit card. But this would be a good Friday night place to go and bring the family for decent food. The patio is also open and you can bring your dogs and they had a small kids menu as well.

Service was nice and friendly. Food was pretty good. Surf and turf (carne asada and shrimp) were dry a s overcooked. Kids meal mac and cheese with veggies was surprisingly so good! I would've ordered those veggies as a side for any meal, they were buttery and flavorful and eaten up fast. Ambiance was fun nd casul.

First time trying the place since it was Rajin Cajun. I'm happy to see they kept my favorites. The fried chicken plate and the Cajun Combo. Still pricy for lunch but I'm never disappointed.service just as casual and family friendly. Always appropriate amount of staffing. The new theme is South Redondo. It will be fun to see them add local decor as time goes on. We just came back to say hello and of course support the owners of this spot! We will be back to try the meanness chili since Aaron doesn't eat beans but loves chili and Fritos. My daughter's happy to see the fried pickles made it but will miss the alligator bites. We see staff wiping menus and cleaning thoroughly. Patio now has a sun cover and I see is dog friendly. Parking is still tight but it's a great neighborhood for a walk. I love that you can get the oysters cooked or raw. I'm too scared to try raw. Lots of options for picky eaters as well as some pretty unique stuff. Hoping to see our favorite bartender in the future. He always took good care of us during covid with the perfect drinks! MJ was so sweet and full of energy

New casual restaurant in Redondo Beach. Slow but friendly serve. Food is decent and beer was good.

So excited to try Steve & Lisa's new adventure, so when word got out they were doing their soft opening this weekend, we gathered our Ragin Friends and popped in to check out the new menu. Melissa was our server and she was super nice and attentive. So nice to see some of the same faces behind the bar and through out the restaurant. And the new beach mural and decor was inviting. Our group started with an order of steak nachos and Oysters (a Ragin favorite) and they were great for sharing. For the main dishes a Big Nick Burger, The Chicken Sandwich (fried), and an order of the Fish Tacos (grilled). The burger was packed with flavor and bacon. The chicken sandwich was always a favorite. It was fried perfectly with a great tasting batter and served on a soft fresh bun, we opted for onion rings ($1.00 up charge). And the grilled fish tacos were delicious, the sauce made them extra good! I had to get an order of my old Raging favorite... the Chicken, Sausage & Corn Bisque (aka the Bayou Bisque), it is my favorite, a rich and creamy creole bisque on top of white rice (absolutely the best and so glad it made it on top the new menu). We finished off the night with churros, but I can't wait to come back for Lisa's amazing Peach Cobbler. A truly great restaurant/full bar & cafe. Lots of space for large parties and a nice patio for summer seating!

OMGoodness... Locally owned and absolutely a Great local place to enjoy! Redondo Beach Grill did a wonderful job transforming the restaurant into a fun place to visit. They offer everything a good restaurant should offer. Great menu with home made from scratch food, great drinks and the service was outstanding. The remodel is classic fun beach life decor... You can sure see how much enthusiasm they have working hard to please. ...It's refreshing! Can't wait to try the fajitas, The seafood tacos, the steak sandwich, breakfast burrito and more! Good job Redondo Beach Grill! Can't wait to come again!!

Formally Ragin Cajun restaurant, the owner after suffering and surviving a major medical episode came back with a vengeance. He changed the name of the restaurant and the menu. The menu options are plentiful and food is spectacular. But most importantly, the staff is amazing. They're extremely helpful and attentive. They do have live entertainment on certain nights, which I'd definitely like to enjoy one night. Be sure to ask your server for their recommendations on what to order, you won't be disappointed.

Happy Hour sliders. Smaller than they look. Dry bun, dry patty. No cheese offered. No condiments.

Disappointing food and service. I got some happy hour dishes so I could try a few things. The gumbolaya was the highlight, unfortunately. It was flavorful, but barely warm. It had clumps of rice that seemed to be added as an afterthought. The lemon pepper wings were ok, but over seasoned & dry. The biggest disappointment were the sliders. (See pic). Dry bun, dry patty, that's it. No sauce, not even a pickle. Offering cheese would be a nice touch. Also no condiments on the table, so I had to hunt down some ketchup. My server didn't check back, brought the wing sauce much later than the wings and had zero personality. I love to recommend new places, but RB Grill is a pass for me. EDIT: Thank you for the reply, Lisa. What I'm getting from your response is that you care less about your Happy Hour food and presentation and take no responsibility for your Happy Hour food quality. I wish I would have known that beforehand. Perhaps you should put that on the menu: "Our Happy Hour food isn't up to par. Please try something more expensive." Please do me a favor and google sliders. Look at the images. Sesame seed bun, gooey cheese, juicy patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles, condiments, etc., not just a dry bun and patty. If you can't take an honest critique to heart, maybe you're in the wrong business.

Ok yall another Thursday rolled around and we are back ! I really wanted to try chef Ricky's red sauce but I know I LOVE the green sauce soooo of course the most accommodating place ever Mel said do both ! I didn't think that was a thing lol my review stands I prefer the green sauce on the carne asada burrito but glad I got to try both! And then last week i mentioned to Mel I never tried Lisa's homemade butter cake she screamed WHAT?! So we had to get it this time and we have been missing out !!! It was soooo good! Definitely save room for dessert! We love the blueberry cobbler usually around Halloween time but the peach one is good too! Finally sat outside where we normally love to sit in this gorgeous so cal weather ! Hubs got the Chuck Norris sandwich not a crumb was left imma say it was good lol

My 2 friends and I after enjoying a great meal.

The food, service & ambiance were all terrific! The owners are the same as the old Ragin Cajun and they have kept a few of their favorites. Can't wait to go back again!

A Bittersweet Farewell to a South Bay Icon! I've been coming here (well first in Hermosa then…read moretheir food truck now here) for their entire 31+ years! I couldn't let Ragin' Cajun Cafe close its current chapter without one last visit for that authentic Louisiana soul food. This place has been such a staple in Redondo Beach and South Bay and while I'm sad to see the "Cafe" era end, I'm also excited for what's next - it's sure to be a hit! What I had to say goodbye one last time!? * Seafood Bisque: This was incredibly rich and velvety, as always. You can tell they don't ever skimp on the seafood--it was packed with flavor and the perfect way to start the meal. * Hush Puppies: Golden, crispy, and exactly what a hush puppy should be. They have that slightly sweet cornmeal interior that pairs so well with their savory dishes. Always worth adding! * Combo Jambalaya Plate: A massive portion and pure comfort. The spices were spot on--bold but not overwhelming--and every bite was loaded with meat and perfectly cooked rice. My goto comfort... The Next Chapter: For anyone worried about losing these flavors: don't panic! While Ragin' Cajun is closing, the owner and chef are reopening very soon in the same spot as Redondo Beach Grill. It's the same team and the same talent, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they evolve the menu while keeping that local heart alive. Their email to followers says they will keep a few menu items as well (doesn't say which ones!?) Thank you to the entire crew for years of amazing meals and hospitality. These flavors WILL be missed!! See you at the new, well, same spot (new name and decor!?)

The restaurant is very clean and organized. Our server was so sweet and welcoming. She walked us through the options and made recommendations based on our party. For a party of 3, we ordered one pound of shrimp, one pound of snow crab, and half pound of clams. The staff recommended mixing their sauces and it definitely hit the spot. The seafood was fresh and meaty and the garlicky, spicy sauce kicked the flavor up a notch. We also ordered a side of fries to share and the dip it came with was amazing as well. The price is very reasonable! It was definitely bang for your buck. They have happy hours that span a good chunk of the day so definitely take advantage of that. Will definitely be back to support a local small business.

The music was good and sports were available if that's your thing Cons: It took 30 minutes to receive our appetizers and at that time I was told they could not fulfill a portion of my order, I withdrew my order of rice and bang bang sauce. After 30 more minutes most of our order came out with the exception of the garlic bread. I was told that it takes a significant amount of time to make and asked if i wanted something else instead. I felt an hour for two burritos was excessive so declined adding anything else. Moments later my bread appeared. It took a full hour and some change to receive our order which I thought was unreasonable, especially since at this point we were the only patrons. Overall: Food was alright, reasonably priced, and portions were aligned with the price. However, I would recommend ordering ahead or anticipate a long wait time. When we went we were one of two patrons but it seemed they had a fair stream of take out orders. I frequent the area but do not live nearby and nothing caught my attention enough to return.

This past weekend, we realized we haven't visited this place for several months so we decided to go for dinner. The parking here is usually packed but there's a lot of parking spaces, so it isn't too much of a bother. We were surprised to see a few changes in the store - good changes. Part of the store has been renovated to accommodate a cloud kitchen (Thai cuisine). They were closed when we came so we'll have to try next time. They've removed the signature Polaroid photos of customers who have dined with them (which I kinda missed seeing) as well as the fishing net that hung on the ceiling. These changes gave the place a cleaner look. What hasn't changed? The same friendly staff who have been there for years. Our server even recognized us and said it was nice to see us again. The menu had a little more added to it but the usual Cajun seafood boil remains the highlight. They now accept credit cards again but the option to pay cash is still available. Since there were only two of us, we only ordered the Cajun seafood boil, the Cajun fries, fresh coconut juice, and their new dessert - coconut pandan cake (this is a must try). At the end of the night, we came to an agreement that the flavor of their seafood boil is still our personal favorite. We've dined at other seafood boil places but The Shrimp Lover is one that we'll always come back to.
