You would not know it, but this is the beet salad.
    stephanie H.

We grabbed dinner on a recent Saturday at 5:15. Two of us ordered the cioppino -Unfortunately, the execution was inconsistent. One bowl arrived flaming hot, while the other was lukewarm with soggy bread. We sent the cold one back and they did remove it from the bill. Portion-wise, it was underwhelming: approximately two clams, three mussels, no crab, and overall not what we expected for the price point. For a seafood stew at that cost, we were hoping for a more generous and balanced presentation. We also ordered a beet salad that came under an odd covering of sliced apples. They Mary's chicken was rubbery. The sourdough bread, nice servers, and generous wine pour were notable, but not enough to save the meal or have us come back.

The service was amazing and fast. Our two year old was acting her worst and the servers were very helpful. The food though, I felt like could be better. I hoped I didn't end up with just a steak on my plate like the pics. But alas they were plated separately. The angus steak wasnt medium and still dry somehow. It was more medium rare/rare. The drinks were very good. My partner said his duck was overcooked a little. The French onion soup was very very salty. It was everything a tad bit off. But the Christmas tree they had was beautiful and the decorations. I'm glad they kept them up late!

FOOD - Spring Salad: mixed greens, carrot ribbons, strawberries, candied pecans, cubed goat cheese, avocado, with strawberry dressing. This was tasty and a nice, light starter. 4.5/5 - Duck Leg Confit: duck leg with braised cabbage, fried kale, apple in a mango raspberry sauce. This was soooo good! I highly recommend it. I've never had fried kale before and I'm obsessed. And the duck meat was fall off the bone. 5/5 - Vanilla Crémeux: caramelized apples, brown butter crumble with meringue. Light and creamy. Not overly sweet. 4.5/5 SERVICE: Steve was amazing! He made friendly, observant, and made great recommendations! 5/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I would definitely come back. The food was so good. The only thing that was kinda ehhh was I did say it was our anniversary when I made reservations online but it must have been missed. No anniversary greetings or any mentioning of it at all. Oh, well.

    Steve was fabulous

We were celebrating our son's 29th birthday. Steve made the night fabulous. The oysters and duck were amazing. We love Loomis!

The salad was excellent, best one I've had in a long time. The steak frites were tasty. Not pictured but the family thought the ravioli was delicious. Our server was friendly. I really like the style of the restaurant, exposed brick and some dark wood. Very nice.

So yummy! The vibes here are great as well, wish the place was bigger to fit more guests !

We had a pre-holiday meal along with friends last month. We started the evening with delicious cocktails and an engaging waitress, (Devin). Our starters were grilled Caesar and Fall salads, sourdough bread and a meat (Elk, Venison, etc) charcuterie platter, which were all amazing. Unfortunately, it all changed after that. From the time our salads were delivered, our wait was 45 more minutes, for our entrées. This was of course unacceptable, and our waitress continually checked back on us, apologizing. That said, 50% of our entrées were delicious, the Elk Paperelle and Duck Confit prepared and seasoned perfectly. However, the two entrées that did disappoint, were the chicken and market fish specials. Our friends stated that they were both very bland and were unimpressed. I really want Reds' Bistro to succeed but charging fine dining prices with horrible food timing and lackluster entrées is their challenge. We appreciated the waived corkage fee and Devin's jovial, hospitable personality which got it up to 3 stars. As you can see from the receipt photo, they are a fine dining priced restaurant.

Ask the Community - Reds' Bistro

    Is there a dress code?

It's a nice place but not stuffy, I would say just no pajama pants:)

Does Red's still have the bone marrow and clams appetizer?

They were not on menu on 08/01/2002.

    What is the corkage fee?

A review stated the fee. I believe it was 25.00.

I usually go for the dirty grilled cheese, always comes out great (tons of meat), looking and tasting delicious. Tonight I made a different choice, thought I'd try a bit healthier option with the meat sampler chicken. Now usually when I have been to bbq spots you get like 1/2 chicken so I was VERY shocked when the smallest piece of sliced chicken breast came out on a little side plate. Was a strange presentation and immediately had me disappointed in my choice. In fairness, the chicken tasted nice, was pretty dry though and barely warm, but good flavor at least (needed sauce so wasn't so dry). It was maybe 4-5 ounces of chicken which seems a bit skimpy for the price. My side salad with blue cheese dressing was good as usual. They should really consider at least more chicken and better plating though! Got my usual, very berry refresher, maybe a new bartender tonight? Wasn't as good as usual, but everyone has an off night. Overall though, love this place, still gave a good rating and of course will be back.

We ordered nachos and side salads to get a feel for the place. The salads were okay, though they were plated in tiny bowls making it impossible to dress/eat without spilling on the table. We decided to ask for larger plates and dump the salads on those instead. The nachos were a gigantic portion with freshly made chips and looked promising. The flavor, however, was lackluster- mostly tasting of oil from the chips and the too thick layer of cheddar cheese. We picked around the plate, but eventually gave up. We won't return, but it seems plenty of others have found something they enjoy from this restaurant.

The location in Loomis is a little off the beaten path (you think you are leaving town), and in a super small strip mall. Step inside and you find a cute little family owned restaurant that will make you wonder "where did I just get transported to?"... A few tables in the front room and a second dining area to the right. It is important to note that you MUST be patient! There is only the owner running the front of house here. She is doing everything. Super friendly, and being as quick as she can to get tables cleared, people seated, orders taken and served. She does all of this with the most wonderful smile and personality. You will immediately fall in love with her. Many of the diners on this particular night already knew her and appeared to have long standing relationships with the family. We came in on a Saturday evening around 5:15pm and the floor was packed. It remained that way until around 6:30pm. I would suggest coming in later in the evening so the 'regulars' can get in and out. Ok, so now on to the food and why the Green Elephant is such a standout. Everything is super fresh, and flavorful with great depth in the sauces. We started with the tea leaf salad, and pork lumpia. Then Panang chicken and spicy garlic pepper pork and an order of rice. We love spicy food, and requested such (she has a spice scale of 1-10). Our mains were a level 7 and that was sufficient to give us good heat without compromising the flavors. She will also bring you a small dish of chili pepper oil if you want even more heat. By the time we were finished, the floor had cleared, so we know now to arrive a little later. But, return we will !!!

I first called the Roseville location. The gal who answered was very sweet, but she couldn't answer catering questions and let me know she'd need to check with the kitchen. Rather than play phone tag, I decided to swing by in person (the following day) to see if I could make a stronger connection. The gal working was just as kind face-to-face as the first girl I spoke with on the phone, she also did her best to answer what she could, and ultimately recommended I get in touch with Kat, who handles catering. When I finally connected with Kat, I felt more at ease about going with this restaurant. She was absolutely fantastic and should probably have a PhD in reassurance. She patiently walked me through the options, answered everything with confidence, and made me feel completely comfortable placing a fairly sizable catering order over the phone for pickup at the Rocklin location. Five stars for Kat. She is exactly the kind of person you hope to work with when planning an event. On pickup day, I arrived about 15-20 minutes early. Some restaurants build in a little buffer and have orders sitting around before the promised pickup time, but not these folks. My order was ready exactly when they said it would be, and honestly, I prefer that. It meant everything was as fresh as possible rather than sitting under a warmer waiting for me. We chose the #2 catering package. Of the options we chose: a large Greek salad, two skewers of meat per person, pita bread, dip, lemon potatoes, and pilaf rice. The presentation was beautiful, everything was thoughtfully packaged, and, the food was very good. If you're deciding between the proteins, I'd give a slight edge to the steak skewers. They stayed tender, while the chicken, was a bit drier by comparison. If you're looking for catering that's both visually impressive and well received, The Great Greek delivers on both fronts. Whether you're feeding family, coworkers, or guests at a special event, this is the kind of spread that earns compliments before people even take their first bite. Four and a half shining stars!

The line was long when we came in, but moved quickly. The bigger problem is that there aren't nearly enough tables for how many folks were dining in. We did end up finding a table on their patio- which is always a win for our family. For about $70, we got two kids' meals (one slider and one chicken tenders), a shareables order of the tri-tip tacos (that my wife ate as her entree), and a two-protein platter with the pulled pork and tri-tip. They asked how we wanted our tri-tip cooked, and we answered medium, but all of the tri-tip came out well done. The flavors of everything were good, though, and the portions are substantial. The kids' meals are a great value. The two-protein platter was enough for two meals if you wanted it to be. The tacos were filled generously and were very tasty. I enjoyed the coleslaw- though I read some others find it bland. I did not think that at all. I really enjoyed the selection of sauces available at Buckhorn. They have a pump-your-own-sauce station with several types of BBQ sauce, horseradish sauce, ketchup, and spicy ranch. Yum! My favorite was the mustard-based BBQ sauce. Overall, I would totally return to Buckhorn. I could probably lean 4 stars here, but I think it's a better spot for BBQ than many others in my area and in the Roseville area that I've tried.
