From top left going clockwise: peach melba danish, bear claw, relic bowl, kouign amann
    Nick M.

Came here on a Friday morning and there was a small line, but it moved quickly. The interior is beautiful, with an outdoor patio available for dining as well. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a display filled with fresh pastries. A few of the pastries we were hoping to try had just rotated out, which was a little disappointing, but the replacements looked great. The woman serving the pastries was quick and efficient, though she came across as a bit disengaged. Hopefully, she was just having an off morning. The older gentleman walking around, on the other hand, was very friendly and welcoming. The Relic Bowl, a combination of mashed potatoes, fried chicken, and corn, was the first thing we tried. Unfortunately, it could have been warmer. Since they don't heat it up, it was served a little cold. The chicken was also somewhat tough and rubbery, with the pieces being quite small. That said, the overall flavor was good. The sausage and egg muffin was very good and a nice size. The sausage had a strong fennel flavor that was a little overpowering for my taste. Toning down the fennel slightly would make it even better. The Kouign Amann was excellent--light, flaky, and sweet. I was disappointed that the passion fruit version had just rotated out, but the one we got was still great. The bear claw was pretty standard. It's a good choice if you enjoy a strong almond extract flavor, although that's not really my preference. Still, it was well made. The star of the show was easily the peach melba Danish. It had fresh, juicy peach in the center, a light cream filling, raspberries, and a perfectly crisp, flaky pastry. It also wasn't overly sweet, which I really appreciated. We liked it so much that we ended up getting a second one to take home. Overall, definitely worth a return visit. Not everything was a hit, but most of what we tried was very, very tasty, and there are plenty of other pastries I'd like to try next time.

Listen... Relic Bakery gets a solid 4 stars from me. The 1st time my daughter and I came there was a line out the door and then some. We said nope, and left. This time I came on a Friday and was there right when they opened at 8:00am. I'll say the reason for my 1 star deduction was customer service #1,and reason #2.. a suggestion would be to place the pastries they have for the day maybe on the window or somewhere people can see before they get to the front. To me it would make the line go faster and a customer wouldn't feel so rushed. I was greeted with a hi but both the person serving the pastries and the cashier to me felt like they didn't want to be there. Very nonchalant., no smile nada. Not the best 1st impression. I felt rushed trying to decide what I wanted to try. It get busy quick. I was able to grab a table inside. My $60+ order consisted of First let me say Relic gets 5 stars alone just for the buttery flakiness airy crunch where the crunch needs to be.. just perfection for the pastry dough part! Duck AL 'Orange- 2/5 my least favorite out of them all. Just an odd taste. A taste I didn't like. Crunch Wrap Supreme- 5/5 - my favorite- give me 14 of them haha. No Seriously I would definitely order this one again and again. Relic famous bowl- 5/5 this one is their KFC bowl. So good and I felt this one has the most flavor/ seasoning wise. I ended up eating it the next day and reheated it in the air fryer. The chicken, mash potato.. corn... well done Relic!! Dubai chocolate croissant -3/5.. eh. This one was ok. I didn't taste too much Dubai (pistachio cream)nor chocolate. I wish they used kataifi.. that's the shredded phyllo dough that provides that extra crunch. Potato cheddar tile -4/5 was tasty. I wish the potatoes were warmer and needed a tad bit of salt but overall delicious. Bitter and jam 3/5- It was ok. Will I return absolutely.. I think the best time is when they 1st open. The area can be a little sketch but it's not that bad. Street parking is also great 1st think in the morning.

Imagine going to Izola when Relic exists and serves food 100x better by staff 100x friendlier. Sorry not sorry but Relic deserves way more praise and attention than it gets! And that's me saying this after waiting 30+ minutes in line 3 times in one week! In town for Comic Con and I just had to stop by to check out Relic and I am SO glad that I did. I love the aesthetic of the place and the girl working the pastry counter is so sweet and careful with the pastries. I encountered 4-5 other staff during my visits and they were all so cordial, attentive, and kind. I tried quite a few items so below is my breakdown: Croissant - simple but made so well. Light, crispy, airy, buttery, just great! Hot dog - this was amazing. The pastry was SO crunchy, the sausage was plump and juicy, the mustard and saerkraut were a great contrast, and this was just perfect Banana Choco taco - although this was not as crunchy as what I saw and heard on tik tok videos, it was still crisp and I absolutely loved the banana flavor. It's so banana forward in the best way possible and pairs perfectly with the chocolate and caramel. Tahini strawberry cookie - this was the winner. My whole family loved it. The perfect combination of tahini/sesame and strawberries in the chewiest cookie form. Double chocolate pain au chocolat - I was pleasantly surprised with the chocolate flavor in this and loved it. The exterior was so crunchy and crispy with the fluffiest interior breakfast sandwich - amazing sandwich. The English muffins were fluffy and soft, the sausage was savory with great flavor, the eggs were perfectly cooked, cheesy, and just so good. duck a'lorange - the flavors are pretty bold in this one if you're not used to a duck a-lorange but I loved it Marble cake - "ding dong" - this was oustanding, truly perfected the classic snack cake. Moist, soft cake in a delicious chocolate ganache. This was incredible and up there with the cookie poke-ball - I just had a bite of this one but it was pretty simple, a moist red velvet cake on top of a pastry passionfruit kouign amann - oh this was a delight! Tangy passionfruit jam inside a crispy kouign amann, oh yes! Americano - oof the coffee is so strong here. Works with the sweet pastries but man was this a muddy coffee haha Absolutely loved this place, I was in town for 6 days and had breakfast here 3 of those days. I would return to San Diego just for Relic.

    Almond bear claw croissant

I stopped by Relic Bakery about an hour before closing on a Wednesday before a Padres game. It wasn't originally part of my plans, but I realized it was right by my bus stop, so I figured it was finally time to check it out. I've been on the hunt for the best almond croissant in San Diego. So far my top two have been Wayfarer and Izola, but I'm officially adding Relic to the list. I ordered the almond bear claw, and it was excellent. It was deliciously crispy with tons of flaky layers, and I loved the almond paste. It was fragrant and a little less sweet than Izola's, which I actually preferred. I also think Relic's prices are a bit more reasonable than Izola's, although the pastries are slightly smaller. The shop itself was cozy, clean, and had a really welcoming vibe. There were fresh flowers on the tables, cutlery already set out, and it just felt like a place you'd want to hang out for a while. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, not pretentious, and never rushed me while I was deciding what to order. I also grabbed a strawberry matcha latte, which was creamy, well balanced, and paired perfectly with the pastry. It ended up being the perfect little snack before heading to the Padres game. I'll definitely be back. Next time I want to branch out and try some of their more unique pastries, like the miso cookie or the duck croissant.

Relic Bakery was sooo good. Everything is baked fresh, and there were way too many pastries to choose from! The area isn't the bestttt, but it's 100% worth the stop for this cute little bakery. They have everything from sweet pastries and savory treats to fresh baked bread, breakfast sandwiches, and a full kitchen. We tried their special Breakfast Wellington (only available until 11 AM), and it was so good! They also have a full coffee bar with tons of latte options. Definitely go early or on a weekday if you want the best selection because they sell out of a lot of their popular items!

My God, the Choco banana taco could be one of the greatest things ever made. It was the perfect balance of croissant dough, chocolate, and banana. I also went with the honey layer cake, which was phenomenal. I did not try the cinnamon roll because that is for my wife, so not sure how that is. The nitro cold brew is really freaking good there and I highly recommend it as well. The service wasn't great. I had to get up and ask for water and it took about 15 minutes to get my nitro cold brew. Seating wise there's plenty of seating and it seems like a good place to sit and chill. I read my book for a little bit, but they were closing so I didn't stay too long.

    Carrot cake danish

Oh yeah...this is the place to go for pastries. I had a tour de pastries and this place easily came in top. Love the creativity and mad genius ideas they convert into pastries. Stopped by on a Saturday just before 10am. Waited in line for ~20min. Got the crunch wrap supreme ($8.25...and no copyright issues here), which was insanely flaky. They really nailed this, down to the shredded iceberg lettuce. And honestly, the fact this is a couple/few bucks more than a genuine TB crunchwrap seems...like a reasonable price? The carrot cake danish ($8.5) was disrespectfully good, because who thinks of putting a moist piece of cake in a CRISP danish, and adding a spiced cream topping. I literally gobbled this up. The selection is surprisingly large, and I feel like the unorthodox combos are all work well together, so you can't go wrong with what you order. Took everything to go, but saw ample indoor/outdoor seating with quick turnover. Will be back for sure!!

    banana chocolate cookie

Have you ever gotten a box of pastries and couldn't take a picture of the box because you started devouring the food and so all you have to show for your experience at relic is the banana chocolate chip cookie with a bite taken out of it? Me too. Folks at relic are making like next level goods, but me and the two thousand other reviews can tell you that. I'm here to say one thing: I have NEVER been impressed by a store bought cookie or a bakery cookie until this day. The chocolate banana cookie here genuinely has such a beautiful flavor profile paired with the perfect ratio of crispy edges and the chewy inside. They must've made it inside a tin or something because the banana carmelized the outside of the cookie so it wasn't like how cookies normally get crispy. Next time will have to sit inside and try more of the food, but absolutely beautiful and life changing thank you.

Stopped by on a Saturday around 8:30 a.m. and waited about 30 minutes--definitely worth it. The Passionfruit Kouign Amann was outstanding: crispy, flaky, buttery, with a bright tart passionfruit filling that balanced it perfectly. We also tried the Crunch Wrap Supreme and the Potato Cheddar with Chili, and both were delicious. Everything was excellent. Just come early and expect a line!

Passionfruit Kouign Amman, Strawberry Ricotta Danish, Almond Bearclaw
    Mansi A.

If you like pastries, this is definitely a MUST when in San Diego. I cannot recommend the Passionfruit Kouign Amman enough!! The jam filling paired so well with the pastry itself. The Strawberry Ricotta danish not only had fresh strawberries, but also strawberry jam mixed in with the ricotta in the center. I would personally skip out on the Almond Bearclaw as it was not anything special, but it still tasted pretty good. The ambiance was so nice! They had flowers at every table and their walls are fully glass so there is a lot of sunlight that comes in.

I've been wanting to check it out for the longest time and finally was able to swing by on a Friday. There's no line so I was able order instantly. It's a good vibe during the weekday with people working and reading. For the actually pastries, they've really impressed me. The potato and eggplants danish had the nicest puff pastries I've had. The chocolate banana taco has a nice chunky lining of banana puree at the bottom and delicious chocolate shavings on top. I loved the details they put on all their pastries

    Madi P.

We got there on a Wednesday and we were surprised there was such a long line!! It took us maybe 15 ish minutes to finally get to order which wasn't too bad but we were still shocked!! Really good pastries all around though with a cute, dark ambiance inside. Banana chocolate miso cookie: 3.5/5 - cookie itself delicious- strong banana flavor but not too over powering - Crispy edges but still soft in the middle - Center has a milk chocolate bite- would be better with dark chocolate Potato crisp tile: 4/5 - Should be warm imo but the crisp on top is delicious. You have two options- either to have the chili crisp on top or not, but I would definitely recommend getting the crisp!! It elevated the experience for sure. - Potato is really well seasoned and the pastry itself is nice and crispy Carrot cake pastry 4.5/5 - flavor combo was really delicious with the cinnamon carrot cake with a blueberry filling - Pastry dough was super flakey with a lot of buttery layers

Raspberries and cream danish ($9)-- lovely sweet and creamy raspberry flavors
    Wendy T.

Stopped by for a few pastries in April and ended up with a box of 10 of them-- they were beautiful and delicious! The pastry case was very croissant-focused with almost half of them being savory options (interesting flavors like chicken tetrazzini or short rib). On the other side of the case, there are tea loaves and cookies as well :) The lamination on the croissants was incredible, pretty much ruined all other croissant-based treats for me. Extra delicate, flaky, and buttery! ** Tiramisu nest (5/5): a seasonal offering for Easter and my favorite bite of the visit! Not only was it extra cute with a kataifi nest and chocolate eggs on top, but there was a thick layer of perfectly salted caramel hiding beneath the mascarpone topping. It was extra sweet but balanced with the saltiness. The laminated pastry added to each bite. Really luxurious and so good! ** Lemon poppy loaf (4/5): super bright flavor of lemon shines here, and the glaze is nice and sweet. The cake part isn't too dense or dry but it wasn't the moistest I've had. Overall enjoyable! ** Raspberries & cream danish (5/5): I'm usually not a creamy fruit person, but the sweet pastry cream with the raspberries had just the right amount of tart versus sweetness. And the croissant layers were so crisp, delicate, and buttery. Actually reheated this one up later as well and it was just as good! ** Double pain chocolate (4.5/5): that lamination was lovely! The denser chocolate contrasted with the light crispness of the pastry. I'd prefer even more chocolate inside, but it's already hard to find a chocolate croissant like this :) ** Marzipan poppy sesame danish (3.5/5): the poppy is more for looks than anything else but the danish had a light, mellow almond flavor and slight grittiness from the almond flour. Softer and tastier warmed up. ** Cardamom bun (4/5): similar to the poppy danish but without the gritty filling. The cardamom flavor wasn't intense so it was more like a cinnamon roll flavor with a whiff of cardamom. Also on the harder side but softened up (and became more fragrant too!) warmed up. ** Blueberry bun (4/5): beautiful and similar to the cardamom bun but jazzed up with the fruity tang of blueberry. This one also softened up and was tastier warmed up at home! ** Strawberry kougin amann (4.5/5): luscious chocolate inside a kougin amman. The pastry wasn't super flaky because of the chocolate, but it was a yummy pairing! The strawberry was placed on top but didn't add much to the flavor. I'd still get it again! ** Strawberry tahini cookie (5/5): Mmm, this one was nutty and a bit tart and sweet with the strawberry. Although a bit crisp on the edges, the cookie had a nice chewiness :D Props for inventive flavors! ** Dark chocolate chip cookie (4.5/5): a good chocolate chip cookie with different sizes of chocolate inside! On the sweeter side, had a slight chew. Enjoyable and would order again but wouldn't say it made it to the top of my cookie list. ** Potato cheddar tile (3.5/5): was quite greasy with the chili crisp but was pretty one dimensional in flavor. Probably wouldn't get it again but we did finish it. The interior is spacious and modern with lots of table seating + outdoor seating too. Service was friendly and the restroom is clean. I loved the variety and color of the pastries in the display and it was fun to try them all! Would definitely recommend checking out :D

We tried a few things - Green Tea Matcha Mochi Balls - This wasn't sweet at all, but I liked it! It was dusted in matcha & you dip it into a creamy matcha and then into the matcha flakes. Such a fun dessert! The snowball mochis are the star of the show with pillowy soft mochi filled with a light custard and fresh fruit. The strawberry and mango are my faves! The Sea Salt Oreo Cake was cute and light with fluffy whip cream and melt in your mouth chiffon cake. There were several things already gone by the time we came, so if you have a favorite, reserve ahead of time or come early!

My favorite was the egg salad sandwich as it had chili oil topped off and it has a slight spice to it. My second favorite was the everything croissant. It was asian inspired as the filling was cucumber and kimchi! Heating up the baked goods and waiting on my matcha took about 5-10 minutes. For drinks, we had OJ and cocowater matcha. The OJ was refreshing, a bit sour for my preference. The cocowater matcha was good as well and refreshing. It was on the bitter end, but also matcha was not strong flavor due to the cocowater. There is no indoor seating and limited outdoor seating. There is paid meter parking around the streets, but there is no specific parking lot for this bakery. I want to come back again for the egg salad and everything croissant, those are my two favorites!

I ended up getting a vegan almond croissant and a vegan chocolate hazelnut rolled croissant, both of which were ridiculously good. The almond croissant was nice and flaky yet still buttery inside, and the almond filling was lovely. However my favorite was definitely the rolled croissant, the hazelnut creme inside was so light and creamy and when taken in a bite with the croissant and chocolate shell coating was heavenly. They had so many other options that looked incredible, in particular if I came back I would definitely want to try the vegan kouign amann. The inside is cute and has a small amount of seating, however the place is quite busy and fills up very fast. Me and my friend were lucky to get there early and be able to claim a table, and so they plated the pastries for us quite nicely and heated up her pizza croissant. Everyone we interacted with was lovely. This place is actually perfection I cannot recommend enough.

Nestled among…read morethe walkable, sun-drenched streets lined with palm trees and ocean breezes, this boutique café captures that rare blend of upscale SoCal charm and effortless European sophistication. It's an absolute staple of what makes exploring the Village so special. Walking through the front entrance, you're greeted by a curated retail space that feels like Crate & Barrel met a boutique shop in the heart of Paris. It's packed with unique home goods, chic trinkets, and aesthetic lifestyle items. Be sure to wander all the way to the back shelves--there are so many hidden gems worth taking home! The staff upfront and on the floor were incredibly warm, welcoming, and happy to chat while you browse. As you head toward the back, the space opens up into a dream of a café. One of the cutest touches is being able to actually watch the bakers rolling out fresh dough and crafting pastries right before your eyes. The smell of rich espresso and buttery pastry crust filling the air is irresistible. I grabbed a coffee and a fresh pastry, waited a short bit for a table on the patio, and pulled out my journal. Listening to the ambient music and ocean breeze in the courtyard while writing was pure heaven. Whether you're stopping in to shop for home decor, grab a top-tier espresso, or just soak in the slow, luxurious rhythm of La Jolla, this place is perfection.

The only way you could tell it was a matcha drink was purely the color of the drink. I also got three cake flavors to try and was really excited to try them because they looked so beautiful. Unfortunately, the cake tasted dry and the flavor was just average. As for the service, they got my name wrong horrendously. I don't know if it was because it was loud or the cashier didn't bother asking for clarification but they gave me a new name of Rachel. This led me to wait for my drink for well over 30 mins before I had to ask for help. The overall ambiance of the store is very aesthetic and nicely kept but what really made me confused was there was a complete lack of trash bins. The only way you could dispose of your trash was giving it to a worker which was inconvenient because there are a total of 2-3 workers who are always busy because of the long line. For the price of the matcha and drinks, I'd expect more. I would not come here unless you love waiting in lines for some below average pastries and drinks.
