They really nailed this, down to the shredded iceberg lettuce. And honestly, the fact this is a couple/few bucks more than a genuine TB crunchwrap seems...like a reasonable price? The carrot cake danish ($8.5) was disrespectfully good, because who thinks of putting a moist piece of cake in a CRISP danish, and adding a spiced cream topping. I literally gobbled this up. I've been wanting to check it out for the longest time and finally was able to swing by on a Friday. There's no line so I was able order instantly. It's a good vibe during the weekday with people working and reading. For the actually pastries, they've really impressed me. The potato and eggplants danish had the nicest puff pastries I've had. I was brave and took my baby and toddler solo out to this bakery while in the area on a Friday morning. Not a holiday, so there was a little line but we didn't have to wait too long, thank goodness. They had a highchair for the baby and put up with me trying to feed both of them really nicely. Pastries were really delicious and flavors were overall tasty. My two year-old could not get enough of the carrot cake. I think my personal favorites were the passionfruit and the potato and cheese. Potato and cheese flavors are classic- everything else I felt like was almost bordering on the line of too crispy. I've been to their popups in Miramar and their pastries were amazing. My wife and I came to their brick and mortar store. The line was kinda long with 15 people on a Sunday at 11AM and there was plenty of parking. The line went super fast though. We waited about 15-20 mins. There was plenty of seating inside with a steady flow of people going in and out. It was loud and music was playing so it was a very lively atmosphere. There were a healthy amount of pastries left and we ordered the potato tile, tiramisu danish, pan au chocolat, and crunchwrap. Everything was so good. It's called Relic bakery, but ironically my favorite thing was the SALAD! The butter lettuce salad quite possibly the best salad I've ever had. We spotted the chefs peeling the skin off tomatoes with a torch and ended up making friends with the executive chef (long blonde hair?) who explained what they were doing and the lengths they go to for their ingredients, what the salad was made with...he was so cool and nice! Cinnamon roll was bomb (less cloying sweet more subtle, milky frosting with gooey cinnamon) Flat white was a 10/10. I'd say my only meh item was the chocolate croissant, it was tasty but nothing show stopping. Every table setting is so beautifully designed and the interior is just stunning. Wow, what a treat! Relic Bakery was highly recommended to us and I'm so glad we went! It was busy, even on a weekday morning, and a line formed immediately after we arrived. We had their Passionfruit Kouign Amann, Strawberry Ricotta pastry, and their Soy glazed Short Rib pastry. Each pastry we selected was unique and fantastic. Talk about high quality pastries! The crunchiness could be heard from the next table. The Passionfruit Kouign Amann was perfectly tart and sweet, the Strawberry Ricotta pastry had a lovely creaminess to it, and the Short Rib pastry had a delectable savoriness that was a nice contrast to the other sweets. I had a pastry with lamb and it was super flavorful and savory and was good even with reheating in the microwave. This was a great experience. I met my best friends here for lunch and the place was not packed at first. I arrived first at approximately 12p, and there were about 4 parties enjoying pastries, beverages, and/or lunch meals. As soon as I ordered my beverage and food: 1 Hot Matcha drink and 1 Cobb-like Salad, the place started to get packed. The young lady who took my order smiled and was very customer service oriented. There were initially about 7-9 pastries in the case when I arrived, but now there were only 2-3 pastries left. I found a nice half booth and half table right next to the front door and settled in with my order number table card. It smelled so good outside as I could smell the butter. Heads up this is a cashless establishment. There was a nice selection of savory and sweet items. Everything hit hard. The Crunchwrap tasted even better than Taco Bell. The beef cheeks was really good and the meat was tender. The potato cheddar had good flavor too. I started to get full and had one of our sweet items. I tried the Cardamom bun which wasn't overpowering and was combined inside a cinnamon bun. If it's your first time, choosing what to get can be a little overwhelming because everything looks so good. I wanted to try both a savory and a sweet pastry, so I went with the potato cheddar and the tiramisu tart. The potato cheddar was surprisingly delicious and ended up being my favorite of the two. The tiramisu tart was just okay. Looking back, I probably should have gone with the strawberry croissant because it looked amazing. The ordering process is a little different, you pick out your pastries first and then get in line to pay at the cashier. I also ordered a latte, which was good, and the staff was friendly and efficient despite how busy it was. Hurray finally made it to Relic Bakery's brick and mortar location. The place is new and modern. The bakery also has savory dishes that you can have brought to your table. You stand in the line and choose which pastries you want from the case. If you want any of the savory items from the kitchen or coffee drinks you order them at the register. I got a pan au chocolate (chocolate croissant) to go and a Sausage egg and cheese English muffin. They gave me a table number and brought me water while I waited. When the English muffin arrived its was PERFECT! The egg was so soft and runny, the English muffin was so soft and fluffy, the cheese was nice and melty and the homemade sausage patty was delicious. It comes with a skewer inside to hold it together I suggest you leave it in. I took it out and after the first bite the ingredients started sliding out. I immediately put it back to hold it together, it's much easier to eat that way. I ate the pan au chocolate after lunch and it was still crisp, light and flakey. I think Relic is the best bakery in San Diego. The new space has seating both inside and out and a beautiful open kitchen. I came here after having a savory breakfast, so I focused on their sweet offerings; however, their savory items looked really unique and interesting. I hear great things about their potato cheddar garlic confit croissant. Their lamb rillette croissant sounded amazing. But, given that I was looking for sweets, I got their blackberry scone, their banana miso cookie, and their cinnamon roll. I find that cinnamon rolls can have textures that can be hit and miss for people. I felt it had a bready texture that wasn't my favorite; however, I'm sure that they have tons of people who do love it. I did enjoy their blackberry scone as it had a delightful chew and great fruity flavor that was balanced by a white chocolate drizzle. Their banana miso cookie was thick, and the banana flavor was definitely present. There were so many other things that I wanted to try; however, I just have but one stomach. Overall, when I do come back, I definitely need to be ready to try some of their savory pastries and their seasonal offerings. Saw they had some great pastries and decided to pop in! The staff here is super friendly and helpful. We ordered the chocolate hazelnut babka, the lamb rillette, and the raspberry lychee rose twist. Our favorite was the lamb. It was so fluffy and tasteful, and the lamb isn't gamy. The babka was a good second, it had a great chocolate hazelnut taste that wasn't overly rich. The raspberry twist was a letdown. Flavor wasn't all there for us, but maybe we started the order wrong. Would try this first before the other two do it doesn't get overpowered read more

I stopped by around noon to try the bakery I've heard so much about. When I arrived all the pastries were room temperature. I didn't realize a majority of their pastries were savory. I was not a fan of the items I selected.. Service was great, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. read more

Overall, loved it! I came in on a Friday morning and there was a short line before they opened. I ordered the French omelette croissant and hot Americano coffee and dined in. The breakfast sandwich was amazing. The croissant was buttery and flakey and the highlight was the poblano hash brown which was savory with a subtle peppery taste. I took the raspberry lychee twist home to eat later in the day. It was the right amount of sweetness and a creative combination. My hot coffee was strong and a bit bitter, but still tolerable. Service was welcoming and friendly. The place is beautiful. I loved the blue interior and fresh flowers on the tables. I enjoyed my breakfast for an hour and it did not get busy. There was metered street parking only, but that was expected in downtown San Diego. I am looking forward to returning. read more

The pastries are phenomenal! I've never dined in because of the long lines and wait times, but we've picked up pastries several times and have never regretted it. The staff is super kind even if they're swamped. The place looks really great and chic. We live about two blocks from it so it's our go to pasty place. read more

We came here on Sunday morning and parking wasn't too bad. It was fairly easy. We parked on the street near by and did not have to pay for parking meters on Sundays. I highly recommend coming here at least 10 minutes early before the bakery store opens and do dine in to eat while the food is still fresh and warm. I was reading the menu and I initially was going to order one breakfast croissant with eggs only. Soon as I walked in and saw all these beautiful display of pastries and the smell I ended up forgetting all about the breakfast menu and ordered 7 pastries. 2 savory pastries and all sweets they were hard to resist. Beautiful set up inside, had nice flow and ambiance inside with real flower arrangements. They were playing mellow jam music and there was good lighting inside. Comfortable and clean table. There was outdoor seating as well. I so wanted to try more food. I will be back. Too bad they were not selling square shaped bread loaf today just rounded sourdough breads and others that are not shaped into loaf. I would have gladly bought one to take home. read more

I really enjoyed my almond bear claw, English Muffin with butter and jam, and cortado here. First of all, all their pastries, baked goods, and cakes look phenomenal. The almond bear claw I had was one of the best I've ever had. The pastry dough was very well made with a rich butter texture with a nice flakiness and softness in all the right spots. It came with almonds and a tasty almond orange glaze as well. Inside, the almond frangipane was delicious. The English Muffins were amazing, too. They were super fluffy with a nice light crispy exterior and that traditional flavor they have was great. I can't wait to try them with one of their breakfast sandwiches. The cortado was made from a local roaster known as "Torque," who makes great coffee by the way. It was smooth and rich with subtle notes of fruits and nuts. Can I give this bakery a 6 star rating? My boyfriend and I came here after his friend recommended the raspberry lychee croissant. When I walked in, I immediately fell in love with the interior. The blushed pink accent wall with the dark blue and brown furniture was so pleasing to the eye! We saw a bustling kitchen behind the pastry counter and it made the whole space feel so full of life! We were immediately greeted by a sweet barista and she helped us pick out our pastries by telling us what her personal favorite ones were. We chose the raspberry lychee croissant and crunchwrap supreme (big Taco Bell fans here) and went back to order the heirloom tomato pastry. The pastries were so incredibly flaky and crisp. Normally, I like eating the part of the pastry that has more filling or flavor, but I found myself gravitating towards the "plain" bites with more croissant in them which speaks to the quality of their pastries. Each bite had us going "ooh" and "ahh" and we really had to take a moment to cherish each flavor. Our favorite was the raspberry lychee croissant. They rotate flavors monthly, but the barista told us that the raspberry one is so popular that it may stay on the menu indefinitely. This one had two different creams? frostings? that were so light and not too sweet. There were bites that had lychee pieces, which blended beautifully with the buttery flavor of the pastry and the two creams. The crunchwrap supreme was a fun choice! It smelled like taco bell and tasted like an elevated version of it. I was so impressed at the balancing of flavors and it made me want to go get taco bell immediately. The heirloom tomato pastry was not impressive on the first bite but my second had all of the sauces and my mind was blown. My boyfriend is a tomato lover so this was such a delight to enjoy! I walked in planning to grab one pastry and one breakfast, but ended up with 2 pastries. The pastries are beautifully crafted, buttery, flaky, and ridiculously delicious. The breakfast croissant omelette was equally impressive: crispy, rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. Every bite made me want another. I've been here twice so far. The first time, I grabbed a few pastries to go: the chicken pot pie, cinnamon roll, and hazelnut cardamom bun. They definitely offer more unique pastry flavors compared to other French-style bakeries around San Diego. The hazelnut cardamom bun was really good, but the chicken pot pie was a bit too salty for my taste. The second visit was for breakfast with my husband. We ordered their popular muffin breakfast sandwiches, but they weren't my favorite. I'm not really into the airy muffin texture and prefer something more dense, like sourdough. There was also barely any arugula, which was a bit disappointing, and for the price, it felt overpriced. That said, the atmosphere of the café is nice. I liked the outdoor seating, especially the fire pit--it makes the space feel cozy and inviting. Overall, I'd give this place 3.5 stars. What a FANTASTIC bakery and cafe this place is. Every baked good we got was amazing! For savory we got the potato danish - garlicky well flavored, crispy on the edges. Koughinaman - PERFECT caramelized crisp and excellent vanilla cream with those lovely Vball's specs. Apple butter danish - some of the best apple butter I had. Jasmine mandarin pastry blew us away with the favor of the cream just the nicest infusion of floral jasmine. We want that cream inside kouginaman haha to go with the crisp.
