This is probably one of the most popular coffee shops in Fremont. They always have rotating seasonal coffee flavors which I like to try out any time I am here. They have a food truck outside from which they serve decent lunch options. A couple things to note are that parking is EXTREMELY limited, so you might have to park at Amtrak. Additionally, there is no wifi (at least there wasn't when I went last), I could image this place would be really nice to work remotely from, but unfortunately that's not an option. read more

There is a small lot for parking BUT right next to the coffee shop, there is a parking lot where you can park temporary as it's also part of metro transportation parking lot. Make sure to read the signs before parking. This coffee shop is such a vibe. There are two stories, booths seats and bar seats downstairs and scattered seats upstairs . You order first before sitting so don't forget to grab your number for you for orders. Drinks are shouted out loud so don't forget to look out for your name to be called. Stopped by after seeing their Detroit style pizza online. Unfortunately they were out of stock so we tried their tri tip sandwich and battered fish sandwich. Both sandwiches tasted fresh and were packed with flavor and toppings! I really love how this place also subtitles fries with a balsamic salad, promoting a healthier but tasty option! I'm usually not a big fan of salads but I tore the entire thing up. We still ordered a side of garlic parm fries and it was honestly my favorite dish here. The fries were packed with garlic and cheese, and the potato itself reminded me of cheese curds. The drinks were okay, the matcha tasted a little watered down but the mocha was perfect in sweetness -- I'd definitely try more of their coffee options next time I visit. There's two floors, the upstairs has seating for smaller parties and the downstairs has huge tables for bigger parties. I wish they can change the interior design in the downstairs area to fit smaller parties to avoid wasting space -- it does feel a little crammed but it didn't ruin the experience whatsoever. The plot thickens. Renegade Coffee by Devout in Fremont did a full 360 and I'm honestly obsessed with how much this place has grown. I genuinely love coming here. Their classic coffee is bold and smooth, and their oat milk lattes are my go-to and both are 5/5. One of my favorites is the orange/ bourbon-style latte. There's no alcohol in it - but it's complex and has a good body of flavor. 4.6/5. The customer service is always so welcoming, which makes such a difference. Whether I'm swinging by to grab a drink or sitting down to get some work done, I feel good energies. Just a heads up, there's no Wi-Fi, so bring a hotspot if you're planning to work, but the energy is more aligned to bringing your kindle and reading or catching up with a friend. Now the food here is way better than I expected. Their pizza is incredible. I had the ricotta one and it's hands down my favorite. The crust is perfect, the flavors are flavoring, and it's straight fire - the personal is enough for two servings. But the avocado toast is MY FAV. I know avocado toast sounds basic, but theirs is anything but. The salsa seca on top adds in this slow burning heat. It's one of those things you try once and immediately want again. Although this place is tucked away in an unassuming corner with a small parking space, it has a lot of character on the inside with its two-stories and wonderful menu. I ordered the halo pour-over with the smoked salmon toast and easily found a spot at one of their many tables. I love that they have a variety of different spaces where you can enjoy a bite, good conversation, or even do some work. Staff were friendly and knew their coffees well (and will offer recommendations if you're unsure). My coffee was "self-serve" and came with my cup (pictured) and a small pitcher (not pictured) to refill. Toast was tasty and I loved the garnishes on top! My first time at Renegade I knew I found a keeper. The day prior I was craving lox toast and I was so excited to see it in the breakfast menu. I about lost my mind when it was the best lox toast I have EVER had. I returned the very next time I was in town to order it again and have since recommended it to others. Portion is huge, salmon is generously piled up, there's an olive oil drizzle with fried scallions on top, fresh cucumbers, dill, and relatively light, herby cream cheese which only brings everything else out. Definitely use the brown mustard to dip. Just trust me on that. It was $17 so brace for that. The old fashioned shakerato is UNREAL but only available 'for here'. It's a stunning, delicious drink that doesn't have the standard sugar and milk base you might find in creative coffee concoctions but holds its own and really takes the flavor profile of an old fashioned. It seems sometimes like the quality suffers in cafes with nice ambiance for socialization and studying, but Renegade is a welcomed exception. The area was extremely spacious and it appears to be located in an old office space, renovated into a cafe. We ordered the old fashion latte. I believe it was roughly $8. For the price I was a bit skeptical but it was extremely delicious. Creamy, not overall sweet, deep coffee flavor and a big zesty from the dehydrated orange! They also added a specific syrup for this latte!! Overall definitely would recommend. Something to note in terms of parking - When I first drove by the parking lot was extremely small. We had to park in the neighborhood and walk over. Additionally, no WiFi which was unfortunate. You would need to hot spot. In general I'm easily annoyed if I pay $10+ for something I could easily whip up at home, but the sourdough felt like high quality artisianal bread, and I loved the crispy "salsa seca" on top which was like crushed nuts and seeds I think. I came here for the 2nd time since it's become renegade. There's been 2 previous coffee shops in this location before. They have a simple coffee menu and they explained and answered all my questions. I usually get an iced dirty chai or iced caramel coffee but they don't have either so the cashier told me about all the simple syrups they have and I went with the brown sugar iced coffee, and it's really good. A friend and I decided to visit this two-story, dining-centric spinoff of Devout Coffee based in Niles for a snack and a chat. Finding seating here on a Saturday evening was a Sisyphean task in itself and it took ten minutes of awkwardly standing and side-eyeing people to finally grab a spot. And it's not like seats are in short supply - Renegade just happens to be one of the premier establishments in Fremont (to my knowledge) that have combined the casual cafe setting (formerly Slap Face Coffee) with specialized, restaurant-quality food options, so business is booming. It doesn't hurt that they operate on a model that limits availability of certain items to different times and days of the week. They've replaced the community space that Slap Face used to use for featuring community performers with a very long high table but have gone to great lengths to instill a different sense of coffeeshop comfort within the space through their decor. All their food appears to be cooked in a trailer out in the parking lot and brought in by hand. Their classic double smashburger with a side of garlic fries was just over $17 but pretty worth it. The burger was beefy and melty with a nice depth from the sauteed onions and the fries were more like little potato crescents, with a perfect crunch and a jarred garlic topping that was a little bit bitter. It was absolutely beautiful inside and it absolutely promotes being present and having conversation rather than being stuck on your phone! Everyone was incredibly nice and although busy, they were able to get our order out quickly. I ordered their gingerbread latte and my husband order the rosemary lemonade. The latte was absolutely delicious and welcomed for the brisk morning we weren't used to. My husband, however, found the lemonade to be too sparkly and bitter. From Renegade, we ordered the breakfast sandwich and seasonal quiche with meats. The order was very quick to come out and came bagged! (I say this as an Arizonian who forgot California charges for bags, lol) We absolutely DEVOURED our breakfast. The breakfast sandwich was absolutely top notch. Also, one car parked like a butt head blocking a potential spot. Okay no biggie will park on the street. We end up parking across the street which the street light crossing took forever. I was like this better be bomb lol. So once we reached I saw that there is actually a coffee shop for Renegade! Sweet! Love the vibe they knew what they were doing here. Unfortunately we couldn't stay and just took our food to go. I did not try their coffee as I was here for one thing and what I was craving: their breakfast sandwich. So the sandwich comes with eggs, cheddar cheese, arugula, aioli, bacon and impossible sausage. This is where I start to question. I ask the barista if I could make a modification and remove the impossible sausage and maybe add more bacon. I was not able to do this. That's fine okay I'll try it. The barista tells me my order would be ready outside from the trailer. Interesting. So that's their kitchen. Cool. I get my food and open it up. It's a good size and smells amazing. My first bite: yum! Second bite: aw man that's a weird taste (I knew it was the impossible meat). Let's be real I ate that whole sandwich because one it was delicious and two I was hungry. However, I do not agree that you put bacon and then an impossible sausage in a sandwich. What about those who don't eat meat? I would definitely come back to try their drinks and other food. The crust was thick and chewy, full of yeasty, salty, grain flavor. The cheese topping was generous, as well as the tomato and pesto in the flavors we chose. The pastries and coffee looked mid, but the other food items like breakfast sandwhiches looked stacked and solid so I'd go to this place for hearty brunch food. Note that the online menu is outdated - they no longer serve the biscuit cube and they have more meat pizza flavors as of 2025-01-19. Lastly, I just want to comment on the gorgeous decor! Seating is wrapped in striking black metal and delicate fairy lights, for a rich visual contrast. There's variety in seating, both big and small tables, though no WiFi. Gather instead of work! Logistics: - mostly indoor seating with a few unheated outdoor seats - there's a tiny parking lot directly east of the building, plus a larger (paid?) parking lot about 50 ft further down the road east. I drink my coffee black without cream or sugar so I can taste the actual coffee - it was pretty trash as far as the black coffee goes. The place looked pretty nice on the inside but they just need to do a better job at keeping it clean and tidy if they are trying to go for that high end vibe. I'm sure the drinks that are pumped with syrups, milk, sugar taste fine since you can mask the coffee taste but if you drink your coffee black skip this place!
