Yummy Tuna Melt! Cheesy tuna goodness is great!
    Mike J.

We were in the San Pedro area and it has been awhile since we had been to Rex's. Fond memories drew us back today for brunch take out. We reviewed the menu and ultimately chose a couple of car friendly options. We settled on the Breakfast Burrito and the Tuna Melt. The breakfast burrito was yummy and easy to handle. It was stuffed with generous amounts of bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs, cheese, and accompanied by a side of refried beans. The salsa added a mild punch to every bite. So satisfying! The tuna melt was also tasty with a tangy tuna salad with melty cheddar cheese all nestled between two toasted slices of bread. This really hit the spot. We enjoyed our quick stop at Rex's Cafe and hope to stop by in the future when we can linger on site! Great choice though for a meal on the run today. Yay!

The food is phenomenal! This place is definitely a hole in the wall! The service is great. The staff is very energetic and friendly. If you are in San Pedro this place is a must try. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. 10/10 will come back again

Amazing place for breakfast! Recommended from the hotel front desk at doubletree it was a short walk to Rex's cafe. The staff was amazing - super accommodating with our baby - friendly and fast service. The food was really good. I highly recommend getting the breakfast burrito!

One of my favorite breakfast spots. I love the team here especially Lupe she is so nice! I always try to arrive early when no one is around yet and enjoy a coffee/latte. So quiet and peaceful, My favorite coffee in all of San Pedro. Occasionally i come here with bae, and enjoy breakfast. Service is fast and friendly and the shop is set up so cute and cozy. It is a tiny place and can be packed during the weekend or as it becomes later in the morning. Definitely a place worth visiting in this town.

Found this little joint on yelp while looking for coffee. Saw some food pics and decided to check it out. I had the green chilaquiles with a side of bacon. Mound of fried chip with eggs, smothered with green tomatillo sauce. Came with sides of beans and potatoes. Delicious and good size portion. Highly recommend. Service was great? The ambiance was cool and soothing. Decoration is southwestish vibe.

(3.5/5) TL;DR: Cute house-turn-cafe serving decent, classic American and Mexican homecooked meals Came on a Saturday morning and, to our surprise, were seated immediately Our coffee orders came quick - definitely try the Mexican coffee! The server took our orders (4-top): - Breakfast burrito (4/5): Solid burrito; side of beans and cheese were tasty too - Breakfast special - Strawberry french toast (5/5): definitely the best plate of the table - 2 eggs and single strawberry pancake (2/5): the two eggs were decent but the strawberries were the highlight of the plate - the pancake itself was thick, heavy, gummy, and just not good. I think we took a collective 2 bites and gave up ... not to mention, the pancake came out about 15 minutes after the rest of the food - Chilaquiles w green sauce (3/5): the green sauce was good but wish we knew that the eggs were scrambled and not sunny/over easy so we could've either asked different eggs or swerved altogether While the overall meal was good, there were some issues with service, specifically some missed sides, late pancake, and delivering wrong orders. In the end, it was all sorted out so no harm no foul - just a little rough around the edges Cheers, Rex's!

Pretty, pretty, pretty good. For the omelette, the hero was the avocado. The rich and creaminess texture from the avocado made the omelette that much more enjoyable. The toast was crunchy and buttery. The coffee was a nice medium roast. The home-fried potatoes were good. However, I prefer mine a little more crispier. Seating is available at the counter, booths and in the small patio area. Service was very friendly and prompt. There is a very small parking area. I opted to park in the residential area. It's a classic diner type restaurant that serves good quality food at a reasonable price. It took me a minute to select an omelette since there were so many options on the menu. But I ultimately settled on the avocado, bacon, and cheese omelette. It came with home fried potatoes. The omelette, on its own, was pretty good. It was hearty and filling. However, when paired with their slightly spicy salsa (which doesn't come with the dish, but you can ask for), it was fantastic. Seriously, ask for the salsa. You'll thank me later. Can't say much about the home fried potatoes. The potatoes were good, but nothing special. The same can be said about the service. I don't have anything good or bad to say about it. The server did everything you would expect from a server, nothing more, nothing less. One note about this establishment before I conclude this review. They prefer cash. If you pay with a card, they will charge you an extra $1.50.

I've tried many of the other restaurants in the area and for some reason had missed this one because I don't live close by. This past weekend I gave it a try and thought it was terrific. There is a free parking lot attached on the side of the building so parking is very easy and inside is pretty large with booth seating as well as regular table seating. They also have outdoor seating as well, but it was a bit windy on the day we stopped in. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out very fast. They also had a very large amount of limited time specials so I had to take them up on one of those options. We started off with the coffee cake and I thought it was pretty good although it was gigantic. I'm a bit more of a fan of the gooier coffee cake and this was a bit cake ear but still it was enjoyable. I also tried the spicy turkey chili and thought that was a 10 out of 10. I absolutely loved the amount of spice and it had some really great flavors. For my breakfast, I chose one of the specials, which was the Carne Asada Chilaquiles and thought it was terrific. It was a ton of meat and it was honestly more than I could finish, but I really enjoyed trying to. I would definitely recommend and would stop again next time I'm in the area.

So this may have been my first (and last) breakfast here. My friend got the breakfast quesadilla, which was oozing with cheese--seemingly low-quality cheese, that gooey-looking kind. A little paltry for the price of $18. Why no beans on the side? I was considering the lobster omelette for a whopping $25 and the waiter raved about it and I let myself be persuaded. It was terrible! Drenched in a creepily orange supposed hollandaise (as we know, see photo, Hollandaise sauce is not meant to be orange), which looked like it was poured from a can. Thin and no lemon. Just some cheap flavoring. The waiter insisted that they had "made it this morning," so maybe they made it from a powder from a packet? I was starving so joylessly I ate nearly half of it and then subsisted on eating most of a generous serving of hash browns. Perhaps I was too timid. When the waiter did not offer any compensation, or to get me another plate of something else, I just dutifully sucked it up. Then he asked if we wanted coffee cake -- which should have been on the house, since he clearly realized I was not happy with the lousy omelette. If I'd not been with a person I was only meeting for the first time, I'd have been more plaintive, but I did not want to embarrass them -- they live in the area, and I do not. But just YUCK. When another friend joined us to sit and chat after our plates had been taken away he told us how he'd given up on this joint. I suggest something be done about the food quality and value.

The breakfast potatoes were thinly sliced and nice and crispy, which surprisingly is hard to find in a diner. The iced tea was strong and plentiful.
