    Does Frankie love ribs? :)

Interesting name for a rib joint. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the ribs were tasty. Ordered a 5 bone pork ribs plate with Mac and cheese, and slaw. The meat off the bones just slid off the bone. Ordered the ribs dry with the bbq sauce on the side. Personally, if you can eat the ribs without sauce then you know it's good. This was just that - no sauce needed for me. Mac and cheese is not crazy cheesy which I prefer, the slaw was somewhat refreshing since it's made with a light vinegar not mayo. Pickle slices and a side of toast included. The dining area is not a large space and there were a couple of tables outside. Clean and well maintained interior space. Staff was helpful and friendly. Street parking. Not sure if they have a dedicated parking lot.

First time trying Ribs Against the Machine. We ordered the beef rib sandwich and ribs meal. Brisket was overall good but there were dry pieces. The ribs were a good mix of flavors and had the perfect amount of sauce. Good customer service The sides were disappointing. The macaroni and cheese sides were lukewarm and very bland.. cornbread and fries were basic but not bad. Service: Good service, friendly and helpful Street parking only Overall, a decent meal. Probably wouldn't come back though.

I love their ribs- still good To-go

I really love their ribs, probably my favorite in Los Angeles. Everything I've had here is awesome... ribs on everything!!! You can typically find a metered parking spot out front. I usually grab it to go, but they have seating inside (5 or 6 tables). They have music on, but it's not too loud. They aren't open on Mondays, which is the day that I'm typically in Burbank, but this is one of my favorite spots to go to when I'm on that side of town.

Where to begin? After having worked with one of the greats in the world of barbecue I have grown a deep appreciation for the work that goes into it. Working with APL allowed me to enjoy food from some of the giants behind the pit. So when I come across some place that catches my attention I have to stop. Now I ordered a pork taco, barbecue beef sandwich with mac and cheese as well as curly fries. Now I ordered hot and although there were some great flavors for me there was not enough spice. I enjoy a good amount of heat with my food. I did enjoy everything and I will be back!

Been around a year since my previous review so I gave this place another handful of tries. I ordered a full rack of Beef Ribs each time from Uber Eats. It was much better but still a far cry from what it had been during Covid. I think you really need to get the "X" level of hotness to get the most of these ribs. Updated to 5 stars because of the consistency, which is pretty difficult to nail for BBQ. Hopefully the owner will not respond, otherwise I am sure I will promptly downgrade the rating.

I had to go for the name alone. The protein menu is simple: beef ribs and pork ribs, which you can get in sandwich form, in taco form, in bowl form, or as a plate. They know what they're good at, no need to complicate the menu. I had the beef rib sandwich, which came with the vinegar slaw on the bun, and the beef was a perfect combo of tender, sauce, chew, and crust. My companion had the pork rib bowl, and the pork was also great. Vinegar slaw was how I like it; Mac and cheese was ok but nothin special, I might try one of the other sides next time.

lemme just say... the corn bread is immaculate. so soft and sweet and addicting! pork sandwich was yom but not too memorable, as the meat pieces weren't too tender. the side of beef ribs however, was tender af and flavorful with the barbecue sauce. mash potatoes are more granular than i'd prefer and curly fries were awesome. mac and cheese standard. BUT THE CORNBREAD YUH

I've been driving by this place for a while and I finally decided to stop in for their ribs !!! Killer music playing in the background. Listening to some Zeppelin right now ;) THE BEST RIBS hands down that I've ever eaten !!! The meat falls off the bone !! They have an incredible BBQ sauce but quite frankly I barely used it as the ribs were amazing on their own ! Delicious ~. I'm blown away !! I'll be seeing you real soon. Thanks guys

Clean inside and out with a play on words as a name of their business. I was greeted right away and the employee made eye contact and knew the menu. He offered me suggestions on the level of meat. I chose medium for one and for another item it was hot. To be completely honest they stretch of the hot is a nice kick so I suggest to the people ordering this hot meat it's very pleasing to the bite. The menu is very readable and the prices are fantastic. Quality and Quantity Pork (hot) definitely 4.5/5 Beef (medium) solid 5/5 The bread/bun from the #2 sandwich melts in your mouth (no cheese). The tortilla taco I didn't eat because I was full but I did eat the meat (no cheese) and it's good. I love the decoration and the theme they have inside. It's fun and interesting spot to go to. I kept looking out the window while I was there hoping I could surprise a homeless man/woman with what I was eating. I'm 100% sure I'm going to tell my co workers about this spot tomorrow on Monday. Maybe you'll see me soon. Next time I go I want some ribs. The Mac and cheese was gone in a few bites because I couldn't get enough of it. I loved the mashed potato's and I'm super happy they weren't red potato's. 20th of July 2025

i was craving a bbq sandwich and i came across this joint while i was in the burbank area. they have street parking right in the front of their building which is nice. it's my first time here and as i walked in, i was immediately greeted by a gentleman who was nice and patient with me. I wasn't sure what to order but I knew I wanted a sandwich w/ coleslaw. the service was quick. didn't wait too long for my food. so I got their bbq sandwich with fries and mashed potatoes as my two sides. the bbq sandwich was good filled with lots of flavor. it was very fulfilling. i rate their sandwich a 9/10. however, the sides were pretty average. their fries reminded me of the store bought curly fries from the grocery store and their mash potato was plain w/ no gravy which was unfortunate. how can you offer mash potatoes but no gravy. i rate both my sides a 5.8/10.

Found this place through a Yelp search. Their beef ribs are generous on the meat, well prepared and cooked to perfection. So many places get beef ribs wrong and scant meat. This was a great surprise. Plenty of parking and you can dine inside or outdoors.

We had just complete the Warner Bros Studio tour and wanted to grab a late lunch. This place didn't disappoint. My friend had the rib plate and I had the rib sandwich combo. We both got Mac & cheese and cornbread as sides. The meat was tender and flavorful. My friend said the ribs fell off the bone. Cornbread was soft and not dry, almost cake like. The cashier even threw in free sliders as they were a new item on the menu. The sliders were tasty, almost like a mini smash burger. Staff was nice and attentive. Check this place out if you're in the area!

Great local neighborhood bbq spot but I wouldn't drive 1 hour for. I thought the coleslaw was pretty good with an acidic dressing which I prefer over the creamier one. The Mac and cheese tastes floury and it wasn't not my favorite. The brisket sandwich was really great. I love the sweet smokiness of the brisket and how it was tender and had a bit of chew at the same time. However the portion size was pretty small for 20 dollars. I've been to other bbq places offering bigger portions of sides and meats. I also got mild heat but I think their sauce is more on the sweeter side and I would recommend getting at least medium since I thought the mild had 0 heat. Overall a great local spot if you're craving bbq but I personally think there's better bbq spots in Los Angeles.

We visited the Burbank location on Glenoaks and ordered the 2 Piece White plate ($19) which comes with baked beans and coleslaw, along with sweet teas. We went medium spice and it was the perfect call -- enough heat to let you know it's there without overwhelming the incredible flavor of the chicken itself. The skin was perfectly crispy and the meat was extraordinarily juicy -- this is some of the best fried chicken in the city, full stop. Fresh, never frozen, natural and hormone-free chicken fried in peanut oil -- and you can taste the difference. The baked beans were sweet and comforting -- a perfect Southern companion to the chicken. The coleslaw rounded out the plate nicely and the sweet tea was exactly what you want in a spot like this. Our waitress was exceptionally accommodating and made excellent recommendations that guided us in the right direction -- that kind of attentive, knowledgeable service makes the whole experience feel special. The atmosphere is old school diner all the way -- checkered tablecloths, no frills, just great food and genuine Southern hospitality. The whole experience felt like a step back in time in the best possible way. At $19 for a two piece white meat plate with two sides this is outstanding value for the quality you're getting. Gus's is the real deal and deserves every bit of its reputation. If you haven't been, fix that immediately.

However, I am compelled to rate this establishment one star due to a particularly unpleasant experience with a female deli employee whose first name begins with the letter "J." Despite my frequent visits, the overall customer service in the deli and meats department has declined. The season butchers have been replaced with individuals lacking the necessary experience and customer courtesy that were previously present. Over the past three months, I have encountered the same issues with this particular employee. It is important to note that the fee charged for slicing a Tri Tip into a carton container is not the primary concern. The issue lies in the employee's behavior and attitude, specifically their unwillingness to properly wrap the sliced meat. This has occurred on multiple occasions, most recently at the checkout counter when the cashier pull the foil-wrapped package from the plastic bag causing the juices of the meat to spill all over the counter. This has happened to me every time this employee has served me. The Tri Tip sliced meat is dry and devoid of juices due to this careless employee's failure to wrap the meat carefully. It is imperative that this situation be addressed. Management should provide this employee, "J," with proper training on how to wrap sliced food correctly. Additionally, it is crucial the ambiance that all employees, including the deli and butcher employees, maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor. A salutation is always appreciated. Despite these concerns, the BBQ remains outstanding as always.

I just had a friend cater from here and I think I ate enough for a small country to be full for a…read moremonth. The food was absolutely amazing. I'll go one by one as I really didn't skimp on any of it..... First off, the brisket was so tender I couldn't even get it on to my plate originally. I had to keep stabbing at it with a fork and it just kept falling into pieces it was magical. The flavor was amazing with the perfect combination of that smokey and fire grilled taste. Didn't even need to use any sauce, but don't sleep on their BBQ sauce it had the perfect flavor of not too acidic and not too sugary. It's hard to stop eating it. I had to follow it up with the brisket quesadillas because.... well because they were staring at me and I had to show them who was boss.... Again, insane flavor combo and pleasantly addicting. Next move I had to throw down on a couple of hot wings to make sure my taste buds were still jumping and ready for the upcoming situation. Just for reference purposes, nice little kick with a bit of smokey flavor. Could've eaten 20 in one sitting but was continuing on my path of BBQ destruction. We now veered over to the baby back ribs .... I think I ate 10 before I realized what was going on. Yet again, the flavor was perfect and the meat was cooked to perfection. It didn't need any sauce, but I was a big fan of loading up on the BBQ sauce for these bad boys..... Next I shifted my fat eyed focus over to the tri-tip. It had that perfect pink center looking like a medium rare meaty super model. I went a different route here and dipped it into this horseradish sauce concoction that I never seen or heard of in my life. I don't know what was in that sauce, but it was phenomenal. I could have literally eaten this stuff by itself, but everyone was looking so I didn't want to make it weird. The tri-tip itself didn't even need any sauce and was super juicy, but that sauce just elevated the taste to another level. Now we decided to go a different location on the farm pay tribute to some smoked chicken. I had to dabble with both the BBQ sauce and the horseradish sauce as my dipping/smothering choices for this tasty bird. Couldn't even tell you how great it was without the sauce, since my mind was already fading trying to fight off my meat sweat coma. Lastly for our protein portion of the evening, I had to top it off with some of that pulled pork. Now this was extremely flavorful and some of the best I've had in quite some time. I did however enjoy lathering it up with that BBQ sauce like some of his fellow plate mates I already devoured. I will give a shout out to the sides, even though I only had a brief taste of each as I was going hard on the proteins. High fives to the potato salad, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, street corn, corn bread, tator tots and collard greens. I may have possibly missed one or 2, but after gorging on disgusting amounts of food, you tend to forget things. Had to make sure to sneak some of those greens in there so my heart didn't give out.... I however did not indulge in the chips and salsa that were there since I didn't want to come off as a pig..... So instead (as I forgot to mention previously), I took the queso and poured it over some pulled pork because that's what needed to happen at that moment.... Boom! For the grand finale, we had this banana pudding dessert that literally put me over the top. If I could openly cuss on this platform, I genuinely would.... It was absolutely orgasmic. That's right, you read that correctly. I don't know what they put in that thing, but to call it amazing would be an understatement. Pretty sure I blacked out at some point while finishing my bowl of dessert. As you can read, I was not a fan of any of the food in any way shape or form.(Sarcasm ...) I look forward to going back, but I will need to wait until I awake from this painful food coma I've been fighting off since the ending of the World Cup match watching USA beat the breaks off of Bosnia with one man down. Much love on the food and I happily dedicate this extra fat fold on my stomach and the 8lb weight gain to AJ's BBQ.

The draw back is this place is very crowed during peak times and it a little too small considering the amount of customers that come. I've driven past Papa's Meat and Seafood on Glenoaks Blvd a dozen times, on our many trips to the area. We alway promising that we would stop in, and I'd finally stop in. Honestly, my only regret is waiting this long. I ordered the Luka Sandwich, which is loaded with their 14-hour smoked pastrami brisket, cheddar, pickled cherry peppers, iceberg, and Papa's aioli on toasted sourdough. The pastrami itself is a work of art--smoky, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and seasoned perfectly without being a total salt bomb. The pickled cherry peppers give it this incredible, bright pop of heat that cuts right through the richness of the beef. It's a messy, beautiful monster of a sandwich.  My wife went with the Surf 'n' Turf Bowl, which comes with their marinated "Crack Shrimp" and grilled angus beef over rice with a fresh shirazi salad. The beef was incredibly tender, but those crack shrimp stole the show--snappy, heavily seasoned, and completely addictive. You can clearly taste the quality of a high-end butcher shop in a casual, quick-service lunch.  The only reason I'm knocking off one star is the wait time and the seating is also pretty limited, so it's much better suited for a grab-and-go situation than a sit-down date night. That being said, the quality of the meat here blows standard sandwich joints completely out of the water. If you're in Burbank and want a lunch that actually feels high-quality and satisfying, do yourself a favor and drop in. I'm already eyeing the A5 Wagyu Cheesesteak for my next visit!
