This was rated the #1 hot chocolate by someone I follow on instagram and I had to go check it out for myself. I do agree with this evaluation, as it is now my favorite as well - here's what makes it so: it's decadent, thick, and rich, like european hot chocolates, and is quite sweet at the end, but has a sharp dark chocolate bitterness that leads in the beginning, so it's not overtly too sweet, but it's just got a lot of everything going on. The torched marshmallows are what bring this over to the top - that gently crisped exterior from the brulee giving way to this luxurious soft, melty marshmallow is SOOOO good, and something that I will remember and would definitely come back for. The space itself is small - the market is literally a small shop selling groceries and prepackaged lunch. But I came in the winter and almost everyone was here for the hot chocolate. There's a small number of chairs to sit in. read more

REVIEW FOR HOT CHOCOLATE ONLY! The hot chocolate that they sell at this shop is unique in a few ways: 1) They serve it in a soup serving bowl. It's not a typical cup that I was expecting. So, you can use a spoon to scoop it up. 2) They use real melted chocolate. The mixture is thicker because of it. I don't personally know but it seems that they use a mix of dark & milk chocolate cause I got a slight bitterness from the dark along with the sweetness from the milk. 3) They use uniquely soft marshmallows. Some might say that it's too soft and melts too quickly, but I didn't mind that at all. I personally gave my rating a 4 because of the price. I personally didn't think that this hot chocolate quantity was worth $10, but the drink itself was pretty good. So, I'm glad that I came once to try it. read more

First impressions: a small, but cute market. I had a look around but didn't see anything I wanted except the hot chocolate. I did glance long and longingly at the pastry case but I didn't want to overdo the sugar or ruin my hot choco experience The Noms: the hot chocolate is PERFECT. My favorite one to date. The ratio of melty, thick drinking chocolate to toasted marshmallow was perfect. Some places have not enough (Cafe Panna) or too much (Glacé) but this spot was perfect. The toasted marshmallow was the perfect way to cut the thick, rich drinking chocolate. In Conclusion: I would 10/10 come back and have since recommended to all my friends and coworkers. It's a bit of a trek from the UWS, but worth it read more

Food was pretty good. Unfortunately it's all incredibly overpriced. Would probably get a sandwich again I did like the breakfast sandwich a lot. The tomato soup was ok and the hot chocolate was weird. Thought it was a bit too dark to be a great hot chocolate and I wish it was just a normal hot chocolate you can sip on in a normal cup and not in a soup cup where you need to use a spoon. Would definitely consider caffe panna and hanis to be much better hot chocolates. read more

Had to try this hot chocolate after seeing it all over TikTok and it did not disappoint. This was very much a European-style hot chocolate being thick. On its own it's good but with the roasted marshmallows it's amazing. It was the perfect sweet treat on a cold rainy day. It's definitely on the pricier side but really good to share with someone. There are a few seats inside but it's pretty limited. Service was still really quick though. read more

I came here on a weekday around 5 and it was pretty packed. I ordered the special hot chocolate and it came readily quickly. This place is a quick dining spot with limited indoor seating. The hot chocolate was pretty good. The marshmallow was oogy and googy. It blended perfectly with the rich hot chocolate. This was delight to have during the winter. However, it's a bit expensive compared to other places that sell hot chocolate. read more

Just wanted you all to know if you are coming here to try their viral hot chocolate that it is premade and cannot be made dairy free. However, I still like this place for a lot of of their other stuff. When they have their BLT sandwich in season it's really great even if I make it with modifications because I am intolerant to garlic and onion. Their staff is also really nice and really understanding about allergies. read more

Very neighborly, friendly and cosy place . Seems with the right "Tribecaian" melange of items . But more importantly they have a REAL HOT CHOCOLATE ! Just order it without the unnecessary marshmallows (get a fire campsite....) and you got one of the best ones in the city . Their pastries (made there) are very good . Highly recommended!!! read more

This place is so overpriced for what they give you. Do not be deceived by the numerous yummy hot chocolate pics like I was. The hot chocolate was a whopping $10, which I suppose is to be expected at a trendy Tribeca cafe. However my main issue with it is that it was quite literally one of the worst hot chocolates I ever had. The marshmallows were overly sweet and grainy, with flavor indistinguishable from store-bought ones and with worse texture. The hot chocolate itself was wayyy too sweet and highly concentrated. I prefer Swiss Miss. Rigor Hill had me drinking straight up melted chocolate. The other thing I got (couldn't even tell you what it is just check the photo) was okay and cost $15. Not impressed. Would maybe only revisit this place for the pastries. Anyways, you have been WARNED. read more

Went here for a quick breakfast on a Sunday morning. The place was packed but the line moved quickly. There is limited seating inside and some tables outside. They have prepackaged options, baked goods, and hot food. We got two packages salads, house made ice cream, a breakfast sandwich, and a jalapeño bread. The breakfast sandwich was really so good. I will be going back for it. Rigor Hill Market uses very fresh ingredients and you can tell. Their bread was also so delicious. You can taste the difference in quality for their products. Which explains the high price tag. Overall, I will be going again. Really loved the breakfast sandwich. Their coffee was good and had fruity notes for those who prefer that flavor profile. read more

I came specifically for the blueberry muffins. First, the muffin had no flavor and it was pretty dense. I had about five blueberries AT MOST in my muffin. Being that it was over seven dollars, I was really disappointed in the quality of it. I think any muffin that would have come out of box would've tasted better than the muffin I had. read more

Went for a hot chocolate based on Rachel Brotman's (@thecarboholic) spreadsheet of best hot chocolates in the city. This is definitely a sit down chocolate dessert rather than a walking around beverage. The small soup cup seems small compared to a latte but the chocolate is rich enough to satisfy at this size. I wouldn't go out of my way a second time, but I would get one if I was nearby. The inside is small but nicely decorated, staff handled a busy line briskly. Food selection looked solid. read more

It's part market, part café, and 100% good vibes They sell everything from fresh produce to baked goods and grab-and-go meals, but their breakfast sandwiches are the real standout. The bread is toasted and crunchy, the eggs are fluffy and the tomato jam?!? Sweet, tangy, and so flavorful, it elevates the whole sandwich. Their hot chocolate is another must. It's more like chocolate soup imo Super rich and thick, with a layer of roasted marshmallows on top. Updating my past review... love this place. My kid lives in the area & whenever I am nearby I make a point to stop by & get something to go for later. probably been 10-15 times in the past 2 years. I have had the turkey & the breakfast sandwiches many times & both are excellent. Last night I had the new Roast Pork & it was really great. I used to only eat this from Johns or Diniks in Philly but I think this Riggor Hill one beat them both. It was a perfect balance with the roast pork, broc rabe & cheese. Also, shout out to the staff there, always super friendly & helpful. Wish I had this near my home in NJ. read more

Stumbled on this excellent bakery. Not listed as a bakery in Google Maps! Believe me: Rigor Hill Market IS a little bakery! And it is a great one! For starters I tried a muffin-like thing they call a cardamom-something. It think maybe it's a brand-new creation by them, because it is not yet listed on their website menu, and I don't remember the name. They don't call it a muffin, although it is a treat that is of medium muffin-size. Whatever it is, it is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Don't miss it! Incredibly, when you pull on the edges of the paper 'holder' of this thing, it AUTOMATICALLY FALLS INTO PERFECTLY SHAREABLE PIECES!! I have never seen anything like it. It's like a NEW INVENTION! Sweet, moist... spectacularly delicious...cardamom thing! And now, on to the GORGEOUS sourdough bread. So gorgeous, I took a picture. So pretty I wanted to embalm it to keep on display forever. But I didn't do that. Instead I ate it. And I'm glad I did because it has a delicious lightly-sour sourdough taste, and that wonderful sourdough texture of your dreams. A great sourdough bread. When hot chocolate goes viral on the internet, of course I will give into the temptation to try. I made my way down to Rigor Hill Market on a Sunday morning and when I arrived the line was (almost) out the door! I should have taken photos of the menus on the wall but I was there for only one thing, and majority of customers had the same mindset. At first it was kind of confusing to make out which customers were actually on line or if they were waiting for their order. Once that was established, I was able to order fairly quickly and the wait time was minimal. Once I got my hot chocolate I went outside to see if a table was available to enjoy my beverage, and luckily there was! Note: you need a spoon to enjoy this drink because of the marshmallows. I would definitely rate this hot chocolate a 10/10. The carmelizing of the marshmallows mixed with the decadent chocolate (sipping chocolate consistency) was amazing. I will be back, hopefully to try other items as well! read more

Came in on Saturday afternoon around 2 and it was packed. We came in only for the hot chocolate, but they do have breakfast/brunch/bakery items as well. They have limited indoor seating and had some outdoor seating available. The hot chocolate though was absolutely incredible! It is $10 so definitely a treat, but I'd say very much worth the try. They serve it in like a soup container and is best eaten with a spoon in my opinion. The marshmallows were so delicious and the hot chocolate was sweet, thick and creamy. I would most certainly go here again just for the hot chocolate! read more

Stopped by on a Sunday at 3pm with a plan to get lunch and hot chocolate. When we walked in I loved seeing all of the fresh produce and a huge jug of free flavored water with fresh fruits and herbs! The turkey sandwich was the only one speaking to me on the menu, but unfortunately it was already sold out so we had to go somewhere else for lunch. The hot chocolate was one of the richest hot chocolates I've ever had - I would say it's more of a dessert than a drink. Between four of us, we should have just bought one and split it since I barely finished half, and same with my other friends. Would love to come back again and try their turkey sandwich and soup! read more

my friend told me their hot chocolate was to die for so we had to stop by. i wanted to get some hot cider too so we can try both but they were sold out of it :( it looked amazing for pictures but a tad too sweet for my liking. i did appreciate the perfectly toasted marshmallows upon opening the lid. this spot is a cute and teeny tiny market/cafe - fresh produce on the side while waiting for your coffee. can get crowded from the hype. i would add this to a hot chocolate list. read more

Rigor Hill is certainly a contender among the best breakfast sandwiches in NY. On house baked generously buttered bread they serve a frittata that simultaneously maintains a notably rectangular shape while dissolving into most perfect cloudlike scrambled eggs when you bite into it. If I have any grievance, it's the light seasoning of the sandwich - there is such a thin layer of tomato jam that I almost missed it entirely. read more

The BLT is one of the best I ever had. Only thing is the bread was a bit too rough around the edges. The avocado toast was very tasty and unique in flavor. It had a sort of sweetness and acidity that makes this in particular memorable. The black garlic also goes well with it, adding another level of flavor without overpowering what an avocado toast should taste like. Customer service was also fast. They replied quickly when asked if they used organic ingredients, although it's a bit misleading to only mention about the produce saying that they use organic practices for their produce, but did not say anything about their meat products. read more

Hot chocolate review! If I could I would rate their hot cocoa a 4.5* overall and a 4* for personal taste. The chocolate is "European thick" and served in an 8oz soup bowl with toasted marshmallows on top. Presentation is beautiful. The chocolate is a bit more bitter, however, paired with the sweetness of the marshmallow it balances well. read more

I have been wanting to come here for some while to try their viral egg sandwich, and finally made my way in on a cold winter morning. The market is quaint and cute, but definitely overpriced (expected given it is in the heart of tribeca). We got the egg sandwich, tiktok famous hot chocolate, and a latte with almond milk. -Latte (1/5): This latte was undrinkable for me. The coffee tasted a bit sour and the almond milk was not creamy and lacked any sort of flavor. -Egg Sandwich (4/5): I really enjoyed this egg sandwich! The frittata was SO soft and a bit custardy, and paired well with the thin layers of tomato jam and cheese. The bread was also toasted really well and perfectly thick. My only qualm is it was definitely a bit too buttery and greasy; felt like I was eating a grilled cheese at times rather than a breakfast sandwich. -Hot chocolate (3/5): It was pretty good... the marshmallows were toasted very nicely and had a nice char, and the gooeiness blended well with the rich hot chocolate. That being said, the hot chocolate was a bit TOO rich and sweet. If you have a sweet tooth, this might be your thing, but a couple of sips were enough for me. Overall, glad I got to try rigor hill market but likely will not be coming back given its exorbitant prices and standard taste. read more

Charming little market with so many fun finds! They have a really great selection of drinks- I've tried their juice and kombucha and they were both delicious. Their sandwiches are very yummy as well! The ingredients feel like they're were thoughtfully put together and high quality. I've tried the turkey sandwich, which has a generous portion of turkey- it's a very thick sandwich- and the veggie sandwich. The veggie sandwich had a butternut squash spread, which perfect for the fall. It had pickled onions in it as well, which cuts down on the richness of the squash. It's a small place, but the service is nice and quick. There's seating outside as well! read more

Finally visited Rigor Hill Market a few weekends ago and had the chance to try their pastries. The space was packed when I arrived on a weekend around noon, but the line moves pretty fast. My friend and I decided to split the Ham and Cheese Croissant and the Pain Suisse. Both were delicious and perfectly flakey. I need to come back to try their sandwiches!! read more

Rigor Hill is a cute little spot in Tribeca. They're most well know for their hot chocolate --I finally tried it today and it was good, just not spectacular enough for the price. 9.5/10 hot chocolate experience. The hot chocolate is slightly bittery with enough sweetness to remind you of your favorite chocolate bar. The marshmallows are toasted and so sweet! The reason why I took away 0.5 - this drink is only like 6 ounces!!! I want a 10-12 ounce experience. read more

Wow that stunk. This is debatably one of the most over priced stores in manhattan. 10.50 for a small apple juice not including tax. The breakfast sandwich was so incredibly lackluster & cold. The chocolate chip cookie I will say was quite good but a good chocolate chip cookie is a dime a dozen in the city. read more

I came here as I was in the neighborhood and had kept hearing great things about their hot chocolate. It's a small storefront with prepared goods, a small selection of fresh produce and veggies and then an area to get coffee, sandwiches and soups from. I didn't have to wait long in line and I ended up ordering the hot chocolate and the vegetable curry soup. The hot chocolate was delicious with torched marshmallows on top, and just the right consistency. The soup was very filling with lots of veggies and potatoes and had a slight kick to it. They have a few bar stools to sit at in the front, but I can imagine it can get very crowded quickly. I would definitely come back here again! read more
