We chose to visit River City Cafe for their great variety of burgers. We visited on 12/6/21 during a very short stay in Myrtle Beach. They were pretty full in their inside dining area so we chose to sit in their outside dining. We were greeted by the hostess and seated quickly. Our server, Liz, was great! She was very attentive, checked on us often, and made sure we were happy with our meals! The cheese curds we got for an appetizer were delicious, and all of our burger platters were portioned super well, and cooked to perfection. The food was good but the customer service was awful. Our waitress was rude and treated us terribly. After we put our name in the waitlist they said our table was ready, but a few minutes later they told us we couldn't sit there and kicked us out. We ordered a very small amount of food and had to wait outside for too long. The waitress we had would talk back to us and she had an attitude the whole time. Such a unique atmosphere. Grunge chic. Absolutely delicious. Thus was our first food after our trip from NY and a rough start at our resort. If you are in Myrtle Beach and want a hamburger, almost any kind of hamburger; River City Cafe is your gotta go to destination. Parking is cramped, very, very rustic, but this is the beauty of it. It is the home of 100's of license plates shared from wall to siding and ceiling, so if your planning to eat and want to become on of the legendary ones left behind, pack it for the trip. There is outside dining and covered outside dining and inside. The specials are rail liquor with a juice or soda for $5, careful, they're potent. Our wait was long due to our changing minds from inside to covered outside dining but once we sat down it was all quite streamline. The staff always hustling and bustling about and great natured. There were all kinds of burgers, some just as plain as homemade on a grill to 1 with jalapeño, pepper jack cheese, banana peppers, 1 with peanut butter, 1 NACHO CRUNCH BURGER (famous one), chili cheeseburger to many more, oh yeah- Mac and cheese burger. The onion rings as huge as the plate served on. The staff (shout out to Erica) was speedy, fun and well trained. It's as good as it gets, McDonald's, Wendys or Burger King won't be the same to you. Three weeks ago I was in Myrtle Beach visiting family and stopped by for lunch with my girlfriend and young daughter. Immediately the place earned bonus points from my daughter because the table covering is a giant coloring page :) We got a table inside and while it's a little cramped I enjoy the ambiance. The place has a beach shack vibe, perfect for grabbing a quick lunch before hitting the beach or checking out the shops a street below. Our server very friendly and helpful. I believe her name is Kathy. The menu is essentially sandwiches and burgers with several varieties in the burger section. My girlfriend and I both got the Continental Burger (bacon cheeseburger with fried egg) and we enjoyed it. With such a low price point ($7 I think) they have a great blend of quality and cost efficiency. We shared a basket of fries and my daughter ordered the chicken nuggets. Usually chicken nuggets at a restaurant range from okay to bleh but I must say these are some of the best nuggets I've ever eaten (and I've sampled a lot over the last 8 years haha) As we were leaving we asked if we could park there while checking out the shops. Kathy gave us the okay and suggested we park in their garage to keep the car cool while we walked around. That was the cherry on top of great food and service. After the half marathon we decided to go to a celebratory dinner. I wanted a hamburger and River City Cafe was a few blocks from our hotel, although we drove after having had the half marathon in the morning. We were seated right away. Salted peanuts on the table were really good and I ate way more than I should have. I was excited to see Yuengling on the menu as we don't have that in Oklahoma and its a beer I like. I ordered a burger and my sister ordered a hotdog. We both got onion rings and they were super good. They came with a fabulous sauce that has a touch of horseradish in it. The meals also came with a funky little coke slaw that had raisins in it. At first I was worried it would be bad but it was surprisingly good and something I may try and make when I get home. I ordered the three alarm fire burger and it was great. Perfect about of heat, cheese, burger. I enjoyed it a lot. My sister got the hotdog. It had chili, onions and cole slaw on it. It was fabulous too. All in all a perfect dinner to end our stay in Myrtle Beach. read more

If I can give a 0 star to this review I would, forget about the place looking dirty because of the peanut shells on the floor, I don't understand if you have an open kitchen where everyone can see what you do you don't train your employees, the woman setting the sandwiches and fries on the plates was scratching her hair and face then grabbing sandwiches and fries with that hand, then she takes the gloves off, she wiping her nose with the top of her hand and grabbing sandwiches without a glove, then someone I would assume is a manager behind her seeing all this and not doing anything, this place is disgusting,. read more

Was just amazing. I go there with my parents decently often, and as someone born in SC it just feels southern. Love the crazy style (and that they let people draw a little!) it's amazing. I got a shrimp po boy, so did my twin (we went there cuz we were turning 12). We actually went today! My mom brought a camera and took pictures of the fat pelican by the shore. We also brought our build a bear, super fun and delicous. I'd recommend it for anyone. My only complaint is the bathrooms. (we ate at the one at the shore, it also had cranes nearby for more info) The womens bathrooms were a bit bad, only the lock. The lock got stuck, so I was infact stuck in there for a minute or two. Some old lady had to help me but either way, food is amazing and I have so much great memories there. 9/10 would come again! read more

If you want basic, kinda sleazy beachy atmosphere with AWESOME burgers this is the place!! There are over 26 different kinds of burgers you can get. Ranging from classic to peanut butter and banana on it (see menu pic). Also, the burgers are huge handmade drippy delicious monstrosities. This is one of 7 (I believe) in the area. I have eaten at 4 of them and they were all consistently good. The eateries are done up in early mismatched graffiti, license plates and other odd knick knacks. Patrons are allowed to document their visit in marker onto any part of the place. Walls, tables etc. Peanuts come with the meal and the floors are the shell disposal location. There isn't alot of beer choices, all the regular brands. They also only have bottles, no drafts, but they are nice and cold. Prices are more than reasonable for what you get. So if you want a fun time out with great food and feel like slumming around. This is the place to go. read more

Here's the good first... First it's kinda expensive but the amount of food you get will easily out way the price. Food was very filling so you can't eat it all so you can eat it later. Coleslaw was very good and like the twist you put in it. Erika our waiter was polite, helpful, pretty quick and filled our cups when needed. Birds that flew near us was a cool sight to see. You can take the cups home which is nice so you can take them home as a sovereign. Like the esthetic you put on your restaurant. Now here's the bad... Some graffiti in the men bathroom. (But besides that the bathroom is pretty clean) Bees but pretty rarely. In conclusion... I would totally approve of this place and would gladly eat here for lunch and dinner. read more

I came here last weekend & I was concerned because there were so many people there on spring break and it was later in the evening. The inside of the restaurant was dope, definitely something I've never seen. The vibe, music and drinks were great. I had the chicken philly and it was AMAZING. So much flavor & I really wish I recorded the cheese pull. The service was very good and quick. Bring a marker so you can sign your name or whatever wherever you can find space! Need I say more from the photo??? AMAZING. Best peanut butter burger I've ever had..the burger itself was cooked amazing and I'm convinced you could add anything on it and it'd be amazing. Sweet potato fries were phenomenal too (my personal favorite fry) and I used the chipotle mayo dipping sauce (fire) prices are very reasonable. Highly highly highly recommend going here, very chilled and laid back. 12/10 read more

Nice "rural" atmosphere, but attitude and service leave much to be desired compared to the Murrells Inlet location ( which we frequent very often) or any fast food joint for that matter! So the first thing the server says as we get seated is that the taps froze overnight and there are no carbonated beverages, but we have bottles. I order a soda, and it comes out flatter than the Earth in 1491! When I ask if I could have something different, she says, how could it be flat we just opened it today? I looked towards the back counter and all the open soda bottles had their caps off, and were not being used at the time I looked. (I'm not a physicist ,but I'm guessing that's why my soda was flat!) Begrudgingly she gets me a new one from a new bottle and it want flat. ( BTW SO MUCH FOR UNLIMITED REFILLS WHICH IS WHAT I PAID FOR! ONE AND DONE) Food was okay, 2 of the 4 orders were off the mark. I didn't complain about my medium well being too pink, because I didn't want to hear the attitude again. (So actually 3 out of 4 were off the mark! Magically, she then got very nice and friendly when she brought the check though. I'm sticking with the Murrells inlet river city cafe, if I ever do come back to any of their locations at all! We came here for lunch and we're lucky to get seated before the rush, unfortunately we sat waiting with our peanuts for a very long time before our server took our order, and it seemed to take forever to get our burgers! This place is known for its burgers so just get one. I would have tried the Mac and cheese burger but they were out. I got a regular burger and my hubby got a bacon burger. The kids had corn dogs and chicken nuggets. Everything was delicious and was a fair price (dining with six it's always nice to have a meal under $100). The place is very small inside and has a small parmtio outside, everything is written on and they give kids crayons to color the paper tablecloths. Nothing bad to say about this place. We were sat immediately, had great service and even better food! I, myself, had the fried Mac n cheese burger and it did not disappoint in the slightest bit. Everything was priced fairly and we would totally recommend River City Cafe! NOTE- they hand out baskets of peanuts and have peanut shells all over the floors. My daughter has a nut allergy so we were nervous to even try this place but we wiped down the table and chairs and she didn't touch anything besides her own food and we were okay.
