A new location for Robata , supposedly to be high scale, fancier version of the 3rd st location. It is all of the mentioned but the location is iffy as few other restaurants tried there and didn't make it. Inside is beautifully decorated and 100% looks more modern and interesting . The majority design of tables except the middle part are with the closed off view, even the two patios are facing walls or glass. Contrary to customers want to see the rest of the restaurant and patrons . The hostess with beautiful wavy black hair was very professional and toured us. Ordered mostly the stuff we usually get at 3rd Ave location. Fortunately they all tasted the same. Ordered new items - lobster noodle -and wagyu steak, both smelled weird and wasn't eaten. So stick to the sushi or whatever you tried beforeServer was nice but his assistants were much better and helpful. There is no comparison between both location bars. Hollywood location has an excellent and better drinks hand down the best drinks we have tried recently. Hope they succeed, cause there dinks are AMAZING!!!!

Great time at Robata JINYA! We did the happy hour that runs up until 7pm and ordered about ten different items my favorite being the lemon roll, tuna crispy rice and bluefin tuna nigiri! Fish was delicious and of high quality and freshness. Great service, and the place looks beautiful

Popped in to one of my favorite new sushi spots in Hollywood again. Unfortunately the omakasi is no longer on the official menu but we asked the sushi chef to serve us whatever he wanted (a true omakase experience) and they over delivered. This is a Hollywood gem that is out of place and deserves more attention than it gets in a tourist neighborhood!

Miso Eggplant with Miso, 3 1/2 stars. Quite forgettable

I love the 3rd street location but feel that the Hollywood location needs some work from the food consistency to the service. I understand this location is on the newer side, but since I was celebrating a special anniversary I felt quite disappointed by this experience. I understand that the hot sake was not available this night, it happens, but when I specifically asked the meal to be coursed out so it doesn't all arrive at the same time and then a few minutes later 5 plates show up... I wasn't thrilled and asked again to slow down the pace. Another fail, I ordered a filthy martini and they used the same shaker as my partners cocktail drink and it was overly scented with the taste of cucumber and I had to send it back. Let's get to the food: Duck Breast - 5 stars. This small bite was served with matcha and was a favorite of the night. Mix Mishroom - 3 stars. Quite bland and lacked flavor. Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna - 4 stars. A solid dish! Assorted Ngiri - 3 1/2 - 4 stars. Some of the fish was excellent, others were not. Not very consistent. Eggplant Miso - 3 1/2 stars. A fine dish, though not very memorable. Lotus Root Robata Yaki - 3 stars. Meh Rich Tonkotsu Gyoza Soup - 4 1/2 stars. Our second favorite dish of the night. Rich in flavor, beautiful presentation, unique and delicious. Matcha Tiramisu - 3 stars. The presentation was beautiful, but outside of that this wasn't my favorite. I'm going to pass on a 2nd visit, but wish this space the best of luck.

WOW!!!! From the minute I stepped inside my jaw dropped...The hostesses were very friendly and the layout of the restaurant was spectacular! But that was just the beginning... Our server Tenzin was not only adorable, he was very attentive making sure that all of our food and drinks were served properly and on time. We appreciated his dedication to our table. Let's start with my favorite part...The cocktails...They offer a nice variety of extravagant drinks along with simple drinks. A few are "smokin," literally! I ordered the Blood Orange Margarita which was amazing! Okay...on to the food...Each dish was a work of art...Almost too nice to eat but hey, I am not that foolish! Here is what we ordered: *Eggplant with Miso - very good *Jinya Ceviche - good *Shrimp Toast ~ My FAV! *Ganmodoki ~ tofu patty so good *Chicken Namban ~ delicious *Lamb Chop ~ very good *Sushi ~ fresh and made to order Dessert: Matcha Tiramisu & Ube Mont Blanc ~ FABULOUS Highly recommend coming here! It won't disappoint! *Valet Parking on the corner of Hudson & Hollywood Blvd *Metered Street Parking

We had the Prix Fixe menu during the soft opening. It was outstanding and filling. The dishes were primarily seafood, but beef, lamb, chicken and vegetarian were served on small plates for sharing. Our server was Tenzin, who keep checking on our table of four. Brandon was the food runner and kept the food coming and drinks flowing. MENU HIGHLIGHTS: Appetizer - Ceviche and Eggplant Miso Signature Dishes - Shrimp Toast and Prime Beef Tongue Izakaya Kozara - Duck Breast Robata - Yaki - Lamb Chop, Sea Bass, Oyster Mushroom Sushi - Handroll, assorted Sushi and Garlic Rice Dessert - Ube Mount Blanc Sincerely, Rosemary

This newly opened spot in Hollywood is a STAR, and definitely my new FAVORITE Izakaya in Los Angeles! @robatajinya just opened right by the Hollywood Walk of Fame, offering an elevated, upscale menu of exquisite Japanese cuisine that doesn't stray far from their Izakaya-style beginnings, and includes very affordable $7 shareable plates! I love how their menu features most of their dishes from their 3rd Street location in Beverly Grove (including my favorite Tuna Crispy Rice, which I think is the BEST in LA), an extensive cocktail menu, well-crafted desserts, and even a very affordable, three tier omakase experience. Honestly, everything we tried was a hit, whether it be previous favorites or new dishes such as their A5 Wagyu sukiyaki and matcha duck breast chashu. If you're in the Hollywood area, definitely check them out - I know I'll definitely be back again soon! 12/11/25 Absolutely blown away: food, ambiance & service was excellent & phenomenal! We were seated at the bar & started with drinks, a glass of red for Hubby & hot tea for me. For starters: the Jinya ceviche, shrimp toast as their signature dish & beef tongue. As these are served "tapas style", it's great to have them served spaced out to enjoy each dish. Totally loved the Jinya Ceviche with the Jinya sauce-- so bright & refreshing! It's perfectly ideal to waken up your taste buds to prepare you for the rest of the plates. Hubby ordered the lamb chop & Chilean sea bass. He didn't share the lamb but he noted it was delicious. I tasted the sea bass-- oh my! Melt in your mouth goodness!! The beef tongue was the show stopper as it was served with "fire"- as the server poured it not the dish. It was fascinating! It was tender & juicy. My absolute favorite was the shrimp toast, perfect morsels of finger food-French toast with shrimp filling, I additionally ordered a Melon soda float & a matcha lychee lemonade- both were fun & delicious drinks Such an experience! Our servers were very friendly & attentive, ensured we were having a fantastic dining experience. The music was awesome, ones you can dance to, not overly loud. Highly recommend for a wonderful time, amazing!!

This is the newer Robata Jinya in Hollywood; there's another on 3rd street in LA. It's new age Japanese cuisine done right and with style. Super fresh and chic. Based on how delicious my dinner was, I can clearly see how they are growing. First off, the restaurant has a great atmosphere, with high ceilings, from which these gigantic bells hang at different spots throughout the restaurant. There are exposed wooden beams throughout the restaurant and then an open kitchen in the back. It almost gives it the look of a cathedral which has an awesome effect. Our waiters were very attentive and gave great recommendations. Their menu is exhaustive, and includes yakitori, sushi, bigger plates, omakase style options, and more! Started with the seared Albacore with crispy onion - and was that a great way to start. It was the best dish I had: the tuna was lightly and perfectly seared. You could tell it was super high quality fish and came in a delicious, salty sauce. This will surely be a staple order every time I come here. I also tried the Eggplant with miso (red and white miso!) and this was as delicious as it was beautiful. It was almost too pretty to eat! (Almost). Another stand out was the LBD roll: kanpachi, spicy albacore, with avocado, pepper, onion, and garlic ponzu sauce. YUM, such a clean and balanced roll. Had the crispy rice with spicy tuna and the Wagyu beef yaki skewer as well. Both were solid. Can't wait to go back and try more. It is pretty reasonably priced as well!

12/11/2025 - After missing a Yelp's cooking class, Dec. 11, 2025, I decided to dine at the newly opened Robata YINYA, Tokyo Izakaya Cuisine in Hollywood. Upon arrival at the lobby, a complimentary Sake was provided, which is very good. The ambience is excellent, passing through a high-end floor-to-ceiling glass door separating from the lobby dining room to the main dining room brought us a special feeling - an intimate main dining room along with a high-end bar with a dimmed light ambience and a special vibe! The food, generally speaking, are excellent, and the Eggplant with Miso is so good, but the two cooktails I ordered are just average, e.g., Expresso Martini looks only a half full and appearance is not good, and the taste is ok, but missing Wow. Services are excellent, the GM and a food & beverage director are friendly and professionally, and I had a nice conversation with both briefly - Enjoy watching two beautiful models posing a photo with an owner of the Robata YINYA in front of the beautiful mural, etc.

Came to Jinya ramen bar for a solo dinner. I appreciated how they sat me separately in a quiet corner at the bar. Someone came right away to take my order. I got the Albacore crispy onion one biter hand roll ($7). The albacore was perfectly seasoned with a salty umami soy sauce. I also got the black original tonkotsu ramen ($20). I loved how the broth was rich but also light and the crunch from the woodear mushrooms provided a great contract to the ramen. The noodles were perfectly cooked and egg was seasoned very well that the soy marinade penetrated through the yolk. The service was great, food came out fast, and I didn't feel rushed as solo diner. My only complaint is that the prices are pretty high for a bowl of ramen and the fish and chashu slices are then but considering it's on melrose that's pretty normal. Would recommend if you're in melrose craving a good bowl of ramen.

Gyoza soup!!!! Yummy yummy yum yum

It was great!!! I've never had tuna so flavorful, and the rice was amazing. I had the gyoza soup as well, also amazing!!! Everything me and my family ordered was incredible. The service was incredible. There were quite a few issues with the orders due to a larger party, which were mildly frustrating, a generous portion of the check was taken care of to apologize. Just amazing. I'd come back any time I could

First I usually prefer doing reviews of mom and pop businesses but if I experience something really good from a bigger establishment I'll also share my experience. This is definitely one of those experiences. My wife wanted to try this place because she saw it in DineLA and it's been a while since we've eaten at a place that participated in DineLA. We've been craving some Japanese food so we decided on Robata Jinya because it's part of the group that owns her favorite ramen place. We didn't use their valet and opted to do metered parking which was just around the corner. The ambiance was very chic casual. The lighting was slightly dim but the lighting at the tables were adequate enough to allow us to see our food. The decor was also cool combination of traditional Japanese and modern. We were one of the first customers to arrive since we were there when they opened at 530pm. We were seated promptly by the hostess and our server Jonathan greeted us right away. He presented us with all the options of their offerings that included the DineLA menu. We didn't really get to review the regular menu because we were pretty set with the offerings on their DineLA menu. We did look at their Happy Hour and Izakaya menu and from those two alone we felt like it was definitely worth coming back to try the other menu items. Can't say enough about our server and the service. Jonathan was very enthusiastic and answered our questions about the menu items and when he made a mistake which wasn't a big deal he came back to us and corrected himself. He occasionally checked on us even as the place got busy and he had more tables to wait on. Another plus for me was the manager, I didn't notice how long we were waiting for our drinks but apparently it was long enough that the manager Anthony comped us another glass of beer. Needless to say the service for me was top notch. The food was AMAZING! So the DineLA menu was a pre-set menu for $55. We felt like there were enough items on that menu that would fill us up so each of us chose that. This nice thing was that they didn't restrict us to just that menu, meaning other people in our party (there were 3 of us) were allowed to order from the other menus (which we did after just cause it was that good). First item was their duck with matcha butter sauce. Talk about setting the standard for the rest of the course. It was tender and well seasoned that was complemented well by the sauce. The next was the sushi. They served 3 different types 5 pieces total, 3 nigiri salmon, red snapper and amberjack, 1 albacore hand roll, & 1 hosomaki bluefin tuna. These were so fresh and really good. I love that the size of the cut of the fish was bigger than there was rice. The texture was nice and firm and didn't feel slimy at all. The third item was a choice between miso black cod and prime ribeye. I chose the ribeye and my wife had the cod. The ribeye was perfectly cooked medium rare and I never had it with a little wasabi and the dipping sauce and I loved that combination. The miso cod was was also perfectly cooked, it was flaky and soft and didn't feel dense like other cods. It also had a great miso crust. The last dish served was the main dish which was a choice between 3 kushiyaki items or 2 different types of ramen. I chose the kushiyaki and my wife chose the tonkotsu ramen. The 3 different types of kushiyaki were chicken meatball, chicken thighs and shrimps. The flavors again were so good on these skewers and the grill gave each skewer just the right char that it didn't overpower the seasoning. There was also something about the ramen, the flavor was robust. The noodles were great, I think the only issue I had was the pork char siu was maybe just slightly tough but maybe I'm just over critical cause everything else was so good. At the end of this meal I couldn't help myself but we ordered the duck again off the Izakaya menu. It was just that good. If you fancy a date night or just happy hour with friends this is a spot to try. We're definitely coming back to try the other items on the regular menu.

Shirley Brasserie, the restaurant referred to above, is also located in The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel (located next to The Lobby). The "iconic" they refer to is the fact that this hotel is historic -- it was built in 1926 during the Golden Era of Los Angeles architecture. It is named after Theodore Roosevelt. The first Academy Awards (Oscars) was held here in 1929. The hotel had its ups and downs since then but currently it looks beautiful and thriving. Take your out-of-state visiting friends/relatives to this place. Because this is a big part of "Hollywood". I recommend The Lobby to hang out after a long day's work or after a nice dinner nearby. This is where my sister and I went after our dinner at Musso and Frank. My sister ordered their Espresso Martini which was really good. I had a beer. Our server wasn't as warm as the ones during my visit in 2023. I think she was an introvert or a bit of a nervous person. But she did not seem potentially horrible. Restroom: I did not go to the restroom this time. I think there was a line. But I remember back in 2023 that you had to ask for a key or a code. Which is understandable for this area. Parking: I recommend the valet parking. If validated, the fee is really reasonable (I forgot how much they charged). We got ours validated because we ordered those drinks from The Lobby.

He went above and beyond, helping clear tables, bringing us water, and making sure guests were taken care of while the restaurant was clearly stretched thin. After being seated, we waited quite a while for our server. I eventually noticed what I believe was a manager stop by our table to check on us and ask if we had any questions. Since we had been ready to order for some time, I asked if we could simply place our order with her. She was delightful, helpful, and very accommodating. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, breakfast potatoes, dinosaur kale salad, chicken sandwich, and burger. Everything was flavorful and delicious, but the burger was definitely my favorite. Combined with the beautiful weather and atmosphere, it made for a very enjoyable brunch. The biggest downside was the service speed. Our waiter was incredibly kind, but because the restaurant appeared to be understaffed, he was rarely able to stop by. There were long waits between ordering, receiving food, and getting assistance throughout the meal. It never felt like poor service from the staff themselves--it felt more like a staffing issue. towards the end, I had to remind the waiter that we were celebrating a birthday (it was in my notes, and two people in person were also told, but the waiter maybe forgot). When the tab came, I had to remind the waiter that I had already provided payment at the time of arrival. The delays continued when we were leaving. We needed parking validation and waited about 5-10 minutes because the host had stepped away and there was no one else available to assist. By the time we left, parking had cost us $33 for roughly 2.5 hours. Overall, the food, atmosphere, host, and manager were excellent, and the staff who were there worked hard under difficult circumstances. Had staffing been planned a little better, I suspect this would have been an easy 5-star experience and our visit would have taken closer to an hour or hour and a half instead of stretching much longer. Hopefully management addresses the staffing challenges, because the restaurant itself is definitely worth visiting.
