My daughter a month back went to a birthday party where they had Vons Chicken, and has not stopped talking about it! Like me, she is a foodie. And when she likes something, she loves it! For weeks on end she would wake up and say "Chicken." Goto school and text me "Chicken?" Get home and say "so, chicken now?" For 3 weeks this went on. She went so far to make Instagram Notes and story posts saying "I want Chicken." Obsessed? Yes. Yes she is. So finally, I obliged!!! I know!! I FINALLY GOT HER CHICKEN! At the very least, it was to get the harassment to stop LOL. I ordered it online and was able to pick it up in store with ZERO hassle or having to wait any longer than being quoted. 10/10! We ordered the original fried chicken drum stick and the Yangnum drum sticks with medium spiciness. Even though I ordered them online and had to drive back home, they were still perfectly crisp. I was a little worried that since we weren't eating there, it would be soggy, but that was not the case at all. 10/10! The guy behind the counter was super nice and had my order ready for me as soon as I walked in. The inside of the restaurant is similar to smaller diner but with a cafe vibe.. I do not know how to explain it any other way. It all looked very clean and well maintained. 10/10 Their location wasn't hard to find either, it's in a bigger shopping complex so there is ample parking. I can say that now I know why my daughter was obsessing over their chicken. It was delicious! As I said, crisp, but not over cooked. Spiced right! Sometimes I find fried chicken to be under salted, or too salty. But this was great. Very very tasty. Went for Dinner Food - 5/5. Their oil must be very clean and scorching hot because all the fried items are golden brown delicious! Every bite of the chicken came with an ASMR quality crunch followed by juicy tender meat. Fries were equally enjoyable having a beautiful snap when bitten along with a soft potato interior. Cheddar dust was generously sprinkled all over adding a hint of saltiness and umami. Pairing all the fried items with the pickled radish had me chowing down my food super fast with the only pause caused by the fact that everything was piping hot. Service - 4/5. There is a kiosk you can use to order, and the service was good. Value - 5/5. Half portions of wings are in the high 10s for most flavors and come with around 8 fat pieces. The first wing was just as good as the last wing in both size and quality. Appetizers are priced in the single digits and come in hefty portion sizes. The only thing I would have liked more of was the pickled radish as one 2 oz container didn't seem sufficient. I am not certain if they would have given me more if asked free of charge, but I also don't see pickled radishes listed on the menu so there is a chance. Awesome chicken! hot take: von's chicken is better than Bonchon Vons Chicken on Saratoga is conveniently located in a center w/Mitsuwa and Diaso! This was my first time having Vons chicken so my bf and I ordered a full sized crispy chicken boneless w/a side of rice cakes. I was pleasantly surprised size of the boneless chicken because it was big! I do recommend the chicken from here. The rice cakes weren't really surprising, but a nice side to have. A side of fries would be better imo. The service was good! Our order took about 15 mins to be prepared. Beware of the parking though esp on the weekends. I ordered boneless chicken (I know it would be a little more dry than bone-in) out of laziness so I definitely needed that sauce! I picked it up from an employee who seemed pretty soul-less. Happy cows make happy cheese. Sad employees make me want to go to the Vons on De Anza or even Sunnyvale. LOL. The chicken itself is still pretty good, but it's unfortunate that everything else is bringing it down (service and attention to detail). Been there four times in the past month and a half. I have had the double cheeseburger a few times. As a way of comparison the closest burger that I have had this past year in that price range and at that quality level would be Super Duper. I don't know if the beef is ground in-house at either but I like the taste and texture of the beef patty at Rocket Burger more. (Maybe the patty at RB has less fat but it isn't dry.) The fries aren't seasoned much, which was ok for me but it is noticeable. Otherwise, how they turn out is somewhat uneven and depends on who is in the kitchen. This last visit they were somewhat overcooked. As for the fried chicken sandwich, I found it rather disappointing. The chicken patty was rather hard despite being thin and it wasn't that crispy. The red sauce was fine but not very spicy; usually it's spicier when it dresses Korean fried chicken. I think the chicken sandwiches at CFA are better (especially for that CFA price). It's been a while since I've had Von's fried chicken; but it's not as crispy or satisfying here, and I'm not sure if that's true of all the locations or just this one because of whatever steps they take to expedite it as a part of fast food menu. The bulgogi burger was ok. The beef was colder than it should have been, so there may be an issue with whatever they use to keep it warm, or they took too long to finish prepping it. (This one includes a fried egg, and I wasn't paying attention whether that was cooked to order or no but it may have been..) The beef wasn't overcooked but I thought the marinade was too sweet, and the sandwich combination didn't work for me. ((Similarly, I generally don't like American bbq meat sandwiches because the sauce is too sweet.) If you order at the kiosk or with the employee at the counter you can customize the burger (no sauce, etc.). The strawberry shake I've had here was good but these days it may be difficult to justify paying that price for a milkshake. The store is rather small but there's always been seating when I've gone. There is some outdoor seating as well. Everything generally looks clean; restroom is ok but there's nothing touchless or automated in there. 3.5 overall with respect to my impression of the menu so far, but 4.5 for the double the cheeseburger. On my most recent visit, I found out they got rid of the double cheeseburger so if you want an extra patty, you need to orderd it separately as a customization. $5.49, I think. If they continued having the double cheeseburger I'd come here regularly. But with the modified menu I don't think I will. It's too bad. My rating still stands. Wondering if the store will survive past the end of the year. read more

Review is only for the Rocket Burger portion of the space: I liked the bulgogi burger overall, it was a bit messy and over sauced imo. Personally, did not need the teriyaki sauce in addition to the already sweet bulgogi or maybe just a lot less of it. I also did not need both lettuce and the shredded cabbage (other than maybe just for preserving the integrity of the sandwich), I would have preferred only more cabbage. The portion for the bulgogi meat was fair, I didn't notice any onions in it like I am traditionally used to and felt it could've done with some cooked alongside the meat. Egg was perfectly over medium on default. I also ordered a standard cheeseburger. The ingredients were of good quality. I liked it overall, but I requested my burger be cooked to medium having assumed like most other burger places, it would be done a little more than requested, but mine was cooked well well done and was a little dry. I like the quality of the buns and they have good browning, but I personally like mine a bit more toasted, especially in the case of the bulgogi sandwich in order for it to hold up to all the moisture. I also understand that they're running off of vons menu a bit, but for having to order them separately, I think they could be a bit more generous with their sides. read more

Von's has some really crispy and juicy fried chicken. I didn't experience any issues dining in on a weekday, the food came out within a few minutes and was steaming fresh. The drums are absolutely enormous. I wish the flavor of the soy garlic of the crispy chicken was more intense and that the yangnyeom chicken sauce was a little less goopy, but overall the quality of the fried chicken was great. I want to start off by saying that I love Vons chicken in el Camino real at Sunnyvale and was excited to learn that there was one opened near my house and work! Until this happened... It was a Saturday, around 2pm when I was going to order Vons Chicken for myself and family. As soon as I walked inside, there was no one to be found due to the worker being outside in her car. She came inside afterwards as she saw me walk in but had a careless face so I tried not to bother her with questions and order on the tablet. The tablet was not working so I had no choice but to order in the front. When I would ask about the food choices I wanted, the lady at the front would always say "no" or wave her hand saying "no" as if they didn't have anything to sell. In my opinion, this was very sad and poor customer service. If the company is trying to make business, I hate to say this but, it just won't happen if they have this kind of attitude. I told my family what had happened who I wanted to surprise with Vons Chicken and they all said the same thing! The lady working was nice but the food I ordered was absolutely horrible, I had to toss it. I got the boneless lunch special, von's special sauce, medium heat with kimchi rice as the side. The pieces of chicken were chewy and gross. What was even more unbearable was the sauce. It was like a super sweet chili sauce that was just not the bizz. Maybe their other sauce choices are good? I hope they'll get better but the service was poor and the food quality was even worse. The cashier didn't really explain anything well. We ordered boneless and got bone in. When I went to exchange, who I assume was the owner was very strange over it. She yelled at the cashier and cook, came out and looked at our other food like I was lying about what I got and then continued to yell at the employees. My kids did like the honey butter fries, but the adults did not. These and the honey crispy chicken had a weird salty powder all over both the fries and chicken, which we could not tell what it was. The boneless honey butter crispy chicken was way over done and dry. Many pieces also had big pieces of cartilage and fat, they must not trim it. My son was afraid to eat any more after his first bite because he was afraid to break a bracket off of his braces due to the hardness being so dry and the pieces of cartilage throughout. We also ordered the boneless oven roasted sweet chili chicken. Based on all the pictures we assumed the chicken would be saucy but it came completely plain with a small container of what looked like store bought bottled sauce that wasn't good. This chicken was also mostly dark meat, fatty with tendons and no flavor. For the price ($16.99 for 10 pieces/half order) we expected the quality to be much higher. This was our first experience at any Vons, I'm not sure if it is the same owners from other Vons around the area but we haven't tried those either.  I can't say we'll be back to this location and probably wouldn't try another location if it looks the same.
