Best Chinese buffet in Alamogordo! It took me a while to go to this restaurant because of the location and outside (the last portion of a strip mall), but don't let that fool you. If you are craving Chinese, they have a great variety of food, everything was fresh when I went, prompt service, and a nice interior. I went during dinner, and comparing what I paid to eating at a family style restaurant (Chili's for example) versus here, it was roughly the same for my family. Well I just went this past Sunday when they have their "crab legs" and they raise the price for this reason. When I came in the crab tray was empty, no big deal because I'm sure they will re-fill it. Wrong. I was here for over an hour and not once did they bring out crab legs. But of course we were charged extra. I still enjoy this place but I will not come back on a Sunday. read more

So we were passing though and really wanted some Chinese food. Decide to give this place a try! Oh man, it was actually pretty good for the price ($9.20 dinner). Nasty. The server cleaned her nose as she stirred the food on the buffet line. I have been sick for a few hours, with headaches, dizziness, nausea upset stomach, and so are all the people I ate there with. The food was old and cold you can tell it was left overs The place was not so clean. But I will say the staff are friendly. I will not go back. read more

Very nice buffet for the area. Plenty of items to satisfy most many with shrimp. All the food items I tried were good. OK environment in an non descript small plaza. Some of the employees were talking too loud in a foreign language to be appropriate. read more

Love Rocket. There are quite a few Chinese/Asian restaurants in town, including the new Empire (which has a huge selection). But Rocket's food is so much better. We love the Snow Shrimp and the sauteed mushrooms are outstanding. We've tried all the restaurants but this one we visit regularly. read more

Very good generally, and some dishes, sometimes, are even better. Can't resist the won ton wrappers filled with custard. Probably not authentic Chinese, but delicious when not too salty. Seems the fried rice is not as good as it once was though. We come here regularly and have not often been disapointed, though more variety would be welcome, or rotating daily specials so you don't always get the same selection. We've been coming here for years, but in the last 6 months the quality of food has hit the toilet. Buffet items are always empty, and food that is out looks and tastes old and not fresh. I live in Las Cruces,NM which is about an hour away from Alamogordo,NM. My family and I try to eat at the Rocket National Buffet every chance we get. We make the drive at least once every few months, or if time allows more often just to eat here. The food os delicious and clean tasting, not like some other Chinese places that have a greasy taste. The Waitresses are friendly, open and accommodating. The food offered on the buffet is varied. Sure they have the standards like General Tso's chicken and sesame chicken but they also serve jalapeno mussels, green chile calamari to the most delectable Noqua( chinese olive).If you ever happen to find yourself in the sleepy little town of Alamogordo and are hungry please go to the Rocket National Buffet, you will be pleasantly surprised and leave full. read more

We have eaten there twice and were not pleased. there was very little food and it tasted and looked like it had been left out for hours.

After moving here and trying a few Chinese places, Rocket buffet surprised me. Have came back here several times, and always enjoy the selection and quality of buffet items. Dumplings are some of the best. Eggrolls and crab rangoons are good. And the beef & broccoli always has really fresh broccoli. I also noticed they don't overfill the line, meaning they constantly cycle in fresh food over serving stuff that spent all day under an unforgiving lamp. The staff is very attentive, the dining area is decent. Price is decent, and they do offer a to go menu. Price isn't bad, but you definitely save during lunch hours. read more

I dont usually bother leaving reviews of restaurants good or bad but in case i fell compelled. I ordered the sweet and sour pork to go and most of it isnt even edible like I cant even chew it. If you're thinking about going here to eat do your self a favor and go get a dog biscuit you will enjoy it more. read more
