Ordered oysters especial, I've eaten this many times and the shrimp is always cooked in lime juice. The shrimp was completely raw when brought out (not by our waiter) I asked if it was supposed to be raw and she said no. She took our plate to the back only to be returned by our waiter in a rude way asking what was wrong with it, we advised that's it wasn't cooked and she said that's the way it's supposed to be. I had to ask for lime and cook them in lime juice myself. Made us feel uncomfortable for asking for the shrimp to be cooked. Not a pleasant experience. As he talked about our meal. The food was terrible and my shredded beef chimi, soggy and so salty. Rice and beans had no flavor too. My husband had the red snapper. It was deep fried and sliced. Way over cooked. Margarita had no flavor. Totally all white. What happened to the triple sec. We both didn't eat our rice and beans that came with the meal. But he ordered a beef cabbage stew. Great atmosphere with a beach theme. Looked packed, but we were seated right away. Immediately got drink order in and a tray of chips and salsa. Salsa was good. Not too ketchup-y and not too crazy hot. Mixed Cocktail was lacking oomph. Had to add all kinds of lemon, salt, hot sauces, and some Mayo to add flavor. The tostada was well worth the money. Didn't need to add anything and was packed with seafood. Was able to have avocado with every bite. Picked off the Serrano peppers as they were really spicy this time. Ended up taking the cheesecrisp (vampiro) to go. For the price/size, wish it came with a bit more sour cream, guac and salsa. Man Oh Man! Walking into this place, the vibe was immediately there. From the decor to the music. I knew the fun awaited us. I drive past this place every day. I tell my wife about it all the time. We finally got a chance to check it out. The place was pretty packed, which was a good sign. There were only 2 waitresses working. Let me tell you, those ladies held it down. They were killing it. They kept up with every table and their needs. Some places, that have a full staff, have those that still don't seem to keep up. Just a learning curve there. But, these 2 ladies were awesome. They helped each other with their tables and took care of their own. Now, the food. Talk about some good authentic Mexican food. This place has it. The drink was fantastic. We had no idea what it was called and my wife showed our waitress a picture from online and she knew what it was. She even said she made it look like the picture as much as possible. Great job. We started with calamari. I had the fajitas & my wife had a shrimp plate. Fajitas stay hot the entire time. I had shrimp, steak and chicken. Yummy. There was a group, in the video, celebrating a birthday. The way they celebrate with you, reminds me of being in Mexico. So awesome. I will definitely be coming for my next birthday. Previous visit, really liked this place, and was pleased that we now had a good seafood restaurant in the neighborhood. Tonight, way too many deficiencies. The good... chips and drinks arrived quickly and were good. Our server was very nice. The not good... Took 45 minutes for our platillada marinera to arrive. When it did, we had to ask for plates and silverware. Meanwhile, the room we were in was stifling. Hot, stuffy, little kids climbing over everything, touching the sauce bottles with their grubby little fingers. Parents seemingly oblivious. Then the food....my fried fish, could have used another minute or two in the fryer. A couple of flabby skin areas that should have been crunchy. No seasoning whatsoever. The boiled shrimp were mushy. The filets tasted like they were coated in flour, not batter, and fried. Again, no seasoning. Same for the fried shrimp. Inedible. I got the manager over, and he kindly replaced the fillet and shrimp. They were cooked longer, but tasted no better. Totally disappointed. Here is the worst part....the seafood products seemed fresh, and good quality, but were ruined by a cook who didn't know what they were doing. Our server was trying, but was spread too thin, and seemed new to the job. Oh yeah, since we're unloading here, the table was wobbly, and the floor was covered in trash. Open for dine in during Covid. Customer service was fine for us for Sunday dinner about 6pm. Friendly service and will be going back again! We did order a lot of food from the Specialties area. Parrillada de Marinera (3person with plates of Spanish rice and small salad) for $54 & Parrillada Sonora (2person with plates with rice and beans) $36. They have chipotle sauce & lots of different types of chili sauce on table. Meals did come with tortilla or corn tortillas. It was tasty and we made some tacos. Use the sauces to flavor. You can eat it by itself but I think it's just lightly seasoned so you can make it your own meal with the flavor or how spicy you want it. Ordering these platters made it a family style dine in. This was ordered for a family of four and I will have about 2-3 days of leftovers. They do give thin chips before the meal. We are happy about that! read more

This place is by far the worst place I have ever been to. The food was horrible. The ceviche we ordered tasted like water it had no flavor whatsoever. The plate my husband ordered which was supposed to come with a big piece of carne asada the piece of meat they gave him was comically small. We waited forever for our food. We asked serval of the waitresses that were standing around for napkins and missing tortillas and they ignored us. Not only that but the way these ladies were behaving with the old male construction workers that were also there eating was so inappropriate and uncomfortable. Wowzers!!! I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt for being new, but I was rather disappointed. We sat at the bar and it took 10-15 minutes to even get a drink. Ordered the house margaritas (which are $5 on Happy Hour M-F 3-7). They were meh...not blown away. I ended up switching to a Dos Equis after my first one. The wait was horrendous. I get it they were short staffed, but it was completely unacceptable. Our bartender (Carolina) was doing most of the running around taking orders, and bringing out food, which left our glasses empty and our stomachs growling. The fish (Tilapia) and chips were on special so decided to order that. They tasted like fish sticks out of a box, lacked flavor, and the fries were flavorless as well. I probably would have been better off ordering the kids shrimp basket. Asked for tarter sauce, and we got a side of warm tarter which obviously came right out of the jug. I like my tarter sauce chilled please. ‍ Carolina was great and not trying to take anything against her attempt to serve us, but this place needs some SERIOUS help. This place seems to always be busy which tells you how great they are!! We came because we saw they had a huge menu filled with both classic Mexican dishes and plenty of seafood options! We tried the carne taco platter and my favorite the shrimp ceviche tostada! Let me tell you... they pile that shrimp high on there and it tastes sooo fresh! I loved it! My husband really enjoyed his tacos too and it was a very healthy portion. The chips and salsa were very good but we wished they had a hotter salsa. They do however have tons of different hot sauces you can add to it to spice it up a bit! So I was skeptical to try this place based on the reviews. I'm so glad I did try it. From the moment you step in, the music is awesome and the atmosphere is not your typical mexican restaurant. Now for the food: From the start, the chips and salsa were great. Unlimited of course! We had a few of the specialty platters for 2. But they can easily feed 3. Everything on the platters were good. From every meat choice to every seafood choice. The fried fish choices were not dry. They were actually tender and very good. The Spanish rice was full of flavor and the tortillas were perfect. You can tell they weren't your normal tortillas, they're hand made right there. For pricing: This was definitely a great price for the quality and amount of food you get. The platters were about $40 and they say they feed 2. But theres enough food for 3. Even for 2, at that price with the amount of fish and meat you get. Very well priced. I really wanted to give this place a good review but unfortunately I can't. 1st our waitress did not speak any English. I speak no Spanish so it was difficult. They got us someone that did. I felt bad for her as she was a lively girl. Actually all the waitresses were beautiful young girls with long nails, long hair, thighs pants and red lips. This is a guy place for sure. First we got raw oysters, very good and large. My husband got fajitas and he liked them. I got the fried tilapia and it was burned to a crisp. It was like eating fish jerky. My dad chose this place for lunch today, I'm not a huge seafood lover so I was happy to see some chicken and beef lunch combos for $8. I had an enchilada, taco and rice and beans. The food was really good. Smokey refried beans and the meat was tender and delicious. The vegetables tasted fresh, definitely not pre chopped bagged lettuce like some other restaurants use. It was good but the raw shrimp and scallop were....well...raw and I don't like sushi. Also had shrimp wrapped with bacon, ham, and cheese. It was a good change up, but a little over fried. My wife had the shrimp tacos. Plentiful meal but the tortillas also seemed fried..again....unusual. My two Margaritas were very unrewarding. The first was a house margarita, and I knew I'd not want another of the same. With no beverage menu, I asked for a "better" margarita such as a "Cadillac" version. Order was accepted, deliver and once again.....no bueno. I could tell by looking at it and then when asked to taste to see if it was ok, it was obviously a best guess and the taste confirmed suspicions. Rocky Horrorible Fish show! This is a seafood restaurant with the choice of just two fish Red Snapper or Talapia made different ways. My husband and I both ordered the grilled red snapper filet with garlic sauce. What arrived was whole Talapia crispy (fried) with the garlic sauce. Frankly the fish looked petrified, hard to fork into and very dry. We told our food server this is not what we ordered, she said they were out of snapper. I asked her why we were not told this and given the chance to order something else? We don't eat talapia nor fried fish. She didn't answer, didn't apologize just took our plates back. I saw who appeared to be the manager, who asked me what happened, what can she do? I told her & said we wanted to order something else quickly because we had an appointment. Apparently they were already in the process of remaking grilled TALAPIA! I said (again) we don't eat talapia, nor fried food. We asked for grilled shrimp with garlic instead. We will say that the food was really good but we had to rush because we were going to be late for our appointment. It's always a risk eating raw seafood, but this time I crapped out, literally. I heard Rocky Point sourced its oysters from High Tide which is my normal go to, but I wanted to give the ceviche and "prepared" oysters a shot as well as some regular ones. The ceviche and prepared oysters were pretty darn good and the regular were ok but not as fresh tasting as the supposed source. We also got the Rocky Point "Cocktail" that had 3 more oysters. One of them was a bit funky but I continued to scarf them down. 4am that night that funky tasting one came back the same way it went in. I've spent the past 2 days with both ends exploding. The atmosphere was good and the other food looked good, but this will be our first as last visit here. read more

I would never return to this restaurant. The "taco salad" that I ordered with chicken was served with mystery meat and was disgusting. Runny refried beans slopped in a taco shell with salty rice and a scoop of what I think was beef topped with some lettuce. The fish tacos my coworker ordered consisted of hard frozen fish nuggets in a stale tortilla. Chips were also stale and I never received the bean dip I ordered. Several tables need bussing and the menus and our table were sticky. They had one waitress working and service was very slow. 100% fail, nothing to recommend. read more

Alright, found this place because we wanted something different on Mother's Day. This place did not disappoint! The vibe upon walking in is amazing! It feels and sounds like Rocky Point. I had to get the straw every margarita and that was tops. Our party of 8 was easily seated despite it being a hopping place. Chips and salsa were flavorful and on point. Between the eight of us, we tried grilled octopus, chicken, steak, burritos, a chimi, and shrimp tacos. All of us thought the food was fresh. The meat was tender and tasty. Rice and beans were good, about what you expect. We will be coming back for sure! As a side note, we appreciate this place giving us a sense of normalcy in this pandemic emerging world. Micheladas are the best I've found in the area! They have a ton of beer choices, and the flavor they have is a little spicy, they're AMAZING. Aside from that though, we won't be going back anytime soon. They take zero precautions for covid. Waitresses wear no masks, and all patrons walked in without wearing a mask the whole time we were there. They seat you right next to other tables, nowhere near 6 feet apart. It's uncomfortable in this climate, but we're all in good health so that wasn't the worst part. We took ceviche to go, and I couldn't get more than 3 bites on because there WAS SAND in the seafood. So disappointing!! You can't run a marisco joint and not properly clean the shrimp. If you must, try the aguachiles. The butterfly cut makes it so the sand has a way out but the ceviche and the mariscos are a NO unless you want your teeth crunching on sand the whole time. Beyond disappointing. read more

I was looking at reviews for seafood restaurants near to where I live in Mesa AZ. I have traveled to the Pacific Coast of Mexico many times....mainly because Vietnam is too far for a short trip!!! My wife and I like seafood. She is from Vietnam. Anyway, I decided to check out this place with my wife and nephew. Here are my thoughts. I ordered a seafood cocktail called Mitotero..mixed seafood. My wife ordered grilled octopus. My nephew ordered the steak combo. The food was okay, but I would not drive all the way to Gilbert AZ for it. I can perhaps find comparable, if not better quality, Mexican seafood nearer to me in Mesa. The octopus my wife had was a bit chewy, and was swimming in butter that was not needed. Also, currently due to COVID 19, I was a bit surprised to see the place overly crowded, and the staff not wearing masks, yet alone the menus not being sanitized. I took my precautions, but it was concerning. If I want Mexican seafood in the future, shy of going to Mexico, I will choose one of many places closer to me in Mesa. BTW, I have been to the real Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point), and what is served in Gilbert AZ is nowhere close to what I ate there. read more

This was our first time eating at Rocky Point. Was excited due to all of the wonderful pictures of the food and drinks on here! First I was disappointed that they had no drink menu because the drinks in the pics look amazing but I have no clue what they are! Both my husband and I had a CARNE ASADA chimichanga (no rice, no beans) and I have to say it was not very good! Carne Asada is supposed to be grilled or seared. Their meat was more boiled (apparently in beans..also weird) and very rubbery. Also it comes with no cheese, which was a first for us. The chimichanga was nicely fried but that was really the only good thing about it! I also had a strawberry margarita that had so much salt in it that it kept clogging up the straw! Horrible! HOWEVER, the server was VERY NICE AND ATTENTIVE! She was the only bright spot! 2 chimichangas and 1 margarita cost us $50. Won't go back. read more
