I recently ordered from Roll Call in Koreatown in Los Angeles. I had the shrimp tempura crunch with was okay. Not what I was expecting but also not bad. It's not something I would order again. I also ordered the beef fried rice. I recently moved back to Koreatown and had not ordered from Roll Call in about five years. I completely forgot that I never liked their fried rice. From the first taste, it all came back to me and I couldn't finish it. The orange chicken was good but not something I would reorder. I needed my order to be refunded and the guy at the register refused to give me a receipt, he told me he promised the funds would be returned but I needed a receipt as I had paid over 80 dollars worth of food. I order from this restaurant on door dash often. Food is amazing, tasty, and portions are great and very pricey. However, in my notes or special instructions sections, I asked for 2 sets of utensils multiple times/ orders, and guess what my food always arrives without utensils. Food is always delivered to my office, and I don't have any utensils at my office. My last doordash order, I called to make sure they include utensils, the lady on the phone said no problem, I'll make sure to include it inside your bag. The food gets here and guess what still no utensils. **ATTN Management: Please add a menu item for utensils or even an include utensils option box at check out screen. Most places i've ordered from on door dash have the include utensil options at check out screen. i'm gonna give this place a solid 8/10, we ordered takeout on a saturday night and it was really fast, there were many takeout orders after ours as well so that seems to be the move for many others as well. it's a bit small inside but definitely had room if we wanted to sit down to eat instead. i really appreciated the way they packed our rolls with the sauce on the side in a little container instead of drizzled on top. there were sooo many options for rolls to try, but we ordered the black pink roll, bts roll, gordito roll, sumo roll, california roll, shrimp tempera crunch roll, and the crispy rice with spicy tuna. The bts roll was my favorite and the crispy rice with spicy tuna was pretty good too, both had their spicy tuna. they also have other food like poke, bento, rice bowls, chinese food, and udon - which we didn't try - but they don't offer nigiri or sashimi, so this is not the typical japanese sushi spot. if you're only looking for sushi rolls, this is the spot for you with their amazing variety of options and solid taste (i guess hence the name roll call haha) I definitely want to come back to try a few of the other rolls! Been craving rolls so we decided to check out the place since it was our nostalgic food during college. Fun naming of the rolls made it super exciting to order;however, when we received the order.... It wasnt exciting at all. Pretty much all rolls tasted the same with the sauce and the ingredient contents of the roll almost identical. And we tried really hard to avoid any rolls that might be similar in taste, but still failed. I ordered their Tuna Poke Salad, the Black Pink Roll, the Salmon Double Trouble roll, the Cheating Boyfriend Roll and the Thai Tea. The Salmon Double Trouble and the Cheating Boyfriend were my favourite rolls! I really enjoy salmon and eel. Both were very fresh in these rolls. The Thai Tea was very refreshing and a little sweet. Super quick delivery and food came tasting just as good as eating at a restaurant. It sucks now that we're only allowed to order takeout and not dine in. After searching Yelp for "lunch" (original, right?), I found Roll Call within walking distance in K-town. After asking for vegetarian options, I ordered the avocado roll and the fried rice. The sushi arrived promptly (it was freshly made at the sushi counter) and was delicious and satisfying. Then the enormous serving of fried rice arrived, piping hot and flavorful. The fried rice portion is enough to serve four people, easy. Luckily, I was able to box it up to take it home. Parking was a little confusing at first; however plenty of metered parking; as well a parking structure under the restaurant. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and told the gentleman working behind the counter, I was there to redeem my OTM perk ( Salmon Double Trouble). He was also gracious enough to substitute no jalapenos as I'm not a fan. I also decided to order a California Roll as well. The restaurant seemed to have quite a bit of seating; however due to COVID-19 no tables were available. I waited a short time for my food, and took it home. Th Double Trouble roll was amazing! I love the sauce that was on top, and everything tasted so fresh! The California Roll was also very fresh, and good size. The two rolls definitely filled me up. The only advice I have to management is not have your staff eat behind the sushi bar, event if it is slow. What I come back?.. My cousin and I had 2 bento boxes (1 chicken , 1 beef for protein). We were impressed by the beautiful presentation and the relatively large serving of the dishes. I had spring roll instead of gyoza in the set. The foods were TASTY, especially the beef teriyaki and spring roll. What made the experience better was the warm sake that made me miss Japan which I last visited in 2019 ( and 3x before that). The prices of beer and sake were the SAME as at the supermarkets. Really good location, and they provide plenty of metered parking and a parking structure located in the back with two hour free validated parking. Worked were very friendly and cleaned tables really fast, overall great and fast service. This place has a variety of things, sushi, rolls, poke bowls, chicken bowls, bento boxes and happy hour. The happy hour deals are amazing, $1.95 for a beer thats amazing. My favorite was the rising sun, which has spicy tuna, cream cheese deep fried and the salmon double trouble, with salmon tempura and avocado topped with salmon sashimi, very good. The crispy rice was also delicious, very crispy. My only thing was that I did not like how they have a station of sauces, ginger and wasabi, it can be unsanitary so I would recommend they either have it on the sides of the plate or asked upon request. read more
