The reason for the 2 star is simply because the plain and simple spicy tuna was better than the spicy tuna tempura roll. The tempura roll was hot to the point the tuna was hot. While doing some basic research, it appeared to have good reviews, so I stopped in. They have a person-less kiosk to order, which is great. The menu has pictures of the item, but there a lot of items, so you should take some time to view them before placing your order. If you intend to pay with cash, you can go to the counter and order with a person. I had the sashimi box and the crunchy California roll. The food was good, but I would not say it is the best. Just ordered a Cucumber and Avocado Roll at RollStop via Uber Eats. Asked for cream cheese to be included in the roll since there was NO OPTION on Ubereats to add this. I receive the rolls and it was not included. On the receipt, they left a note that they charge $1 extra per roll for cream cheese. Great! I got their $20 Beef Bento Box for lunch. The sushi was solid, but for $20 I feel like the flavors were definitely lacking. The beef was pretty tough, the salad had no dressing, the miso soup reminded me of cloudy dish water, and they didn't give me any chopsticks. However, I will say the sushi was super yummy. Overall, a pretty expensive and underwhelming experience. I plan on visiting again, but only for sushi. I'm sure I'll increase their star rating at that point. read more

San Pedro might not be the first place you think to get sushi, but it doesn't altogether not make sense. They are after all, close to a harbor with access to fresh fish. I really don't think sushi has to be haute cuisine. If the fish is fresh (not greying, texture still has bounce and doesn't turn to mush), the roll isn't overstuffed, there isn't too much rice, and the roll is nice and tight keeping all the toppings snug against each other marking the evidence of proper skill... if most or all these criteria are met, I couldn't be happier! Funnily enough, this little place meets all my expectations! And that fact exceeded my expectations because I'll be honest, I judged. I thought no way this little shop in a strip mall with a Ross can have decent sushi but I stand corrected. Maybe it doesn't have those insta-worthy food shots or ambiance but that's not what I'm looking for. All I want are super simple and delicious spicy tuna rolls, cucumber rolls, salmon rolls, eel rolls, etc. In fact... I've eaten at overpriced places that serve the same exact thing just boxed up all fancy and minimalist and charged me an arm and a leg. I think you know exactly the one I'm talking about. What's also different about this place is that the owner operates almost entirely on his own with only the help of a tablet for customers to input their orders directly. And you know what, that makes me really happy, pandemic or no pandemic. I don't really want him swiping cards or cash then handling my fish. Food came out fast, super fresh and excellent quality as you can see from the photos. Salmon sashimi was super Yumm. Crunch roll was great as well and edamame. Honesty, let's be real the location of this place had me worried but I wanted to have sushi and surprise my brother while he was at work next door at UPS, so came and ate here. When walking in it was very clean and fresh and looked like any old fast food sushi place. Now, we ordered like 8 different kinds of sushi, and they came pretty fast and honestly it was so fresh and taste amazing. I was in shock about how good the sushi was. Each one had it very own taste and made me really appreciative of the quality of food. The service was not so great to be honest. Asked the guy a few questions and he just looked at me. Well, they are still evolving into the sushi place that they will become, still feels like they just opened yesterday. The soda machine is out on display but not working, and the walls lack any decoration. They need to liven up the in location atmosphere, how about some music? Something. Don't be spectacle of this place. THEY HAVE GOOD SUSHI! They have a really nice kiosk where you can order your food. It may be like a full fledged restaurant but the staff is amazing. As I was ordering one of the sushi chef pointed out that they had a 10% coupon where you can nester at the kiosk at the end of check out. But let me know talk about the food! Checked this place out the other day and I will definitely be coming back. I was a little hesitant of the taste of "fast food" sushi but they pleasantly surprised me. You walk in and order on a kiosk. I ordered the no rice sunset roll and my son ordered the hot night roll. Both were very tasty. Tasted fresh and very reasonably priced. We also ordered a miso soup which was also really good. Seriously I wasn't expecting much but this place is a gem. Service was really friendly, place is clean and organized. We got our order to go and everything all the sauces, ginger, wasabi was there and enough for the both of us. Today was my first time coming here and I was very skeptical at first because I have a seafood allergy. But luckily when I came in Steve was so friendly at the counter and he was so patient with me as he showed me the iPad to place my order and help accommodate for my allergies. It's nice to see a place that understands about cross contamination. I was able to order a shrimp tempura roll and my boyfriend got the half and half. Sadly the shrimp tempura is kind of dinky but adding the cream cheese and garlic chips made it taste amazing even though I didn't get the imitation crab.
