There is so much to love about Rooted! If I were to some it up in one word, it would be variety. It's so much more than just a coffee shop. I love that in terms of food, there are such a range of amazingly delicious and healthy options! I have attempted to try something new every time and have loved everything I tried! I absolutely love this place and wish there was a Rooted Coffee in LA. I ordered a bunch of the items. Parking is metered and it was really packed which is always a good sign. Croissant breakfast sandwich: so delicious. The croissant was a perfect flaky buttery consistency and I believe it's a house made egg. It reminds me a lot of Just egg. Maple & blueberry donut: the donuts gave me Whole Foods vibes so nothing special. I just ate the icing on top haha. Cookie: one of the best vegan cookies I've had. Gooey and crispy. Waffle: the lemon whip cream was so good. Unfortunately I let the waffle sit for an hour and by that time it was gross and soggy so please eat it immediately. I didn't get any maple syrup but maybe it doesn't come with it. Avocado toast: I really didn't enjoy the smashed chickpea and it had a lot of onion if it. The bread was really hard too but it was okay. Brown sugar iced latte with hunny foam: one of the best lattes I've had and the hunny foam definitely elevates the drink. This is a must try. Lavender hunny iced matcha: also one of the best matcha's I've had. Overall a must try and I wish I could go back. read more

This is based on a 1 time visit. I LOVE THE AVOCADO TOAST. I don't know what magic they use to make this simple toast but it an explosion in your mouth. And it's healthy! The drinks are good too, a bit on the sweeter side but good to stump sweet cravings. I'll definitely come back. Parking is a street parking. So good luck. A friend recommended this spot when I was visiting Walnut Creek. It's a cute spot, traditional independent coffee house vibes where it almost teeters on grimey but that is just the vibe. They have a nice food and beverage selection. The staff has always been friendly and it seems like the type of place you can linger and get some work done. I've gone twice and both times my order was incorrect, close but not accurate (ie: I just wanted a seasonal cold brew, they made me the seasonal latte instead) which isn't the end of the world. Rooted might be my favorite Bay Area coffee shop at this point. The avocado toast is UNREAL. Probably the best I've had. So much flavor and truly a full meal. The maple matcha latte is also so lovely. The best part is that all the lattes and stuff are only plant based milks. I love meat, and I love dairy, but a full real milk latte can be a lot for my sometimes sensitive belly. I love that I don't get up charged for a plant milk and alternate between oat and almond. It's expensive. An avo toast and a latte came out to 18$ before tip. But that's about the price of anywhere else in this area, and the quality is above and beyond! read more

This is the best café in Downtown Walnut Creek. I've lived here for a year now and tried them all. The coffee, the food, the ambience, the service, the seating, everything here is wonderful. I love this place and recommend it to all my friends and family. All of the Avocado Dream Toasts are piled high with quality ingredients and delicious flavors. They are to die for. I've tried every variation. I switch between them because I can't decide on my favorite. This is my highest recommended item on their menu. During the spring, I always order their seasonal Orange Rosemary flavor in a Latte or Iced Matcha. This was the drink that really put me onto Rooted - it still blows me away every time. With every season comes new delicious specialty drinks, and I love that they rotate their menu. Their Fall specialty drinks are also amazing. Other items I love: the Beloved (raspberry latte), Sweater Weather (cinnamon & maple), Get Stoked (mint cold brew), PB'n'Nana Toast, and the Cashew Yogurt Parfait. In over a year of coming here regularly, I have never had a negative interaction with any of the baristas, in fact they always make me feel welcomed and comfortable. They are all incredibly friendly, work hard, and obviously care a lot about their customers. The team here is stellar. The cafe is large with plenty of seating available inside and out, with a beautiful patio. I can usually find somewhere to sit even if it's crowded. However, if you need an outlet, I suggest you go early, as spots near the outlets do fill up. Everything is somewhat pricey, probably due to the fact that it's all plant-based, fresh ingredients. However, I am happy to pay for quality and to support a local business. The enjoyment I get from coming here is worth it. I come by at least once a week and look forward to treating myself. This is one of the few coffee shops where I return for their food rather than their coffee. Their avocado toast is my absolute favorite, and I've tried every variation on the menu! For drinks I always order the vanilla mint latte (iced), and while it's nothing crazy special-it's exactly what I need. Their food menu is on the pricier side, but for one of the few (if only) local plant-based cafes, I find the satisfaction is worth it. Friendly staff, and the drinks are ready fairly quick even on busy days. My only complaint would be how slow the wifi is. read more

Rooted Coffee is a great vegan and plant based option. I have visited the pleasant hill location and was in Walnut Creek and had to stop by for an oh mega donut craving fix. The Walnut Creek location has great indoor and outdoor seating. So cute and lively. Parking is hard, I found myself driving in circles. I mean that comes with almost all of Walnut Creek though. This trip I ordered some food and a drink. I enjoyed the cinnamon sugar matcha latte. Yummm. Just the right sweetness maybe even to sweet but I highly recommend this drink iced. I also got four oh mega donuts. I was able to keep them in a ziplock bag and they stayed fresh to have one every morning. I tried it heated up in the microwave and wow the donut warm was awesome. I also tried the sunshine salad. I was not the biggest fan. I think the dressing threw me off. I would have preferred a balsamic versus what was served. Always friendly staff. I've been a long time customer of Rooted back form their farmers market days, first brick and mortar in Pleasant Hill, and now in Downtown Walnut Creek! I have always enjoyed the avocado dream but decided to try something new and get the Avocado Dream Make it Sunny. The toast was LOADED with the turmeric chick pea mixture. Recently opened coffee shop with super friendly baristas! We ordered a maple matcha latte, vanilla mint latte, and maple donuts. Everything was vegan friendly with milk options ranging from oat, soy, and macadamia at no extra charge! It was my first time trying macadamia milk, and I couldn't tell the difference. I recommend the vanilla mint latte; it's not like the Mint Mojito from Philz Coffee, just a nice lightly minted drink. On the flipside, the matcha latte I would skip next time since it had chalky bits at the end and wasn't as smooth but not bad. I just love Rooted so much. This new location is just as wonderful as the Pleasant Hill location with a little extra pizzaz! I get to order my same favs, but there's more on the menu at this location! I've made quite a few visits to this new location and of course I've been a fan of everything. The avocado toast is still amazing - the absolute best. Tried the new churro waffle stick which is also great. I've tried a couple of the smoothies which were both super yummy and full of good ingredients! We also came for happy hour where my friend got addicted to the White Russian - he's a HUGE fan! We also shared the shawarma plate that was absolutely delicious. They really outdid themselves with the design of the shop. It's bright, roomy, cozy, rustic, and sleek. It looks fantastic on the outside and inside. The outside patio is also super awesome. I believe they built it themselves - so impressive. They really do care about their brand and their customers. The love really shows.
