Been coming here now for a donut or two for over a year now and I must say that the simple selection, quality of the donuts, and the super friendly service goes a long way in their business. If you're not a fan of the super fancy creations and the insane up charge for them then this place is a must. Simple donuts with a yummy but not overly sweet flavor is hard to find lately. I'd say the only draw back is the parking lot being so cramped and sometimes crowded and the store is quite small so expect a line when the drink orders are heavy. The chocolate chip croissant is a favorite of mine and the red velvet a nice medium with a subtleness and crunch that keep me coming back but don't shy from the other options because they're pretty yummy too. read more

As a former USD student, Rose Donuts holds a special place in my heart. The 24 hour corner shop was the perfect place for a late night donut run freshman year and is still my go to shop when I'm craving a donut. The donuts are bomb (I'm obsessed with the old-fashion, especially dipped in maple or chocolate). No complaints here. read more

Cash only. Open 24 hours!? Wow. Donuts anytime you want! Came on Sunday night and they had a pretty well-stocked inventory (out of apple fritters though, dang). Had a red velvet donut and it was pretty dry. They had so many different options though. I'd definitely return to try some of their other items. read more

I'm from the 90's where a dozen donuts will cost you like 8 bucks. A dozen here's is like 15 dollars now damn man, for 15 dollars I better be able to pick any donut I want for this dozen which I was not able to. Let's get to why we are here I got a half dozen donuts apple fritter, glaZe buttermilk, Boston cream log, blueberry old fashioned and a maple bacon that cost extra so my total came out to 10 damn near eleven dollars. The donuts where good ok yeah you heard me the buttermilk was airy the fritter was crunchy and chewy. I still don't think they should cost that much plus it's a drive from my house but if I'm in the area I might pull up. read more

If there were a 100 donut shops in the same block as Rose Donuts, I'd still choose Rose Donuts. Got a half dozen & got the Boston creme, raspberry jelly filled, chocolate glazed, glazed, apple fritter & blueberry cake donut. Obviously I welcome diabetes with open arms, worth it. The blueberry donut was amaaaazing! Everything was delicious. Easily in the top 3 of donut shops in San Diego. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday morning and just managed to beat the line. Their apple fritter is large and delicious, but could have used more apple bits (personal preference). The Vietnamese coffee is amazing, I can't stop thinking about it, and I also couldn't sleep later because it's apparently pretty strong for someone who doesn't regularly drink coffee... still worth it. I loved the food, but I wanted to leave a 5-star review for the care they are taking with safety measures during COVID. They have a line marked in tape that socially distances customers from each other and from staff. Employees all wear hairnets, masks, and gloves, and many also wear clear face shields. There are clear barriers in front of the cash registers, no indoor or outdoor seating, and fans on for maximum ventilation. Service is fast and customers waiting for their orders are politely directed to the side to maintain distancing. I'm very impressed by the steps Rose Donuts are taking to protect employees and our community, and will definitely be supporting this business in the future. read more

I use these guys to cater all my morning business meetings with their croissant sandwiches. I call in the day before and they always have them ready on time. I recommend having the sandwiches cut in half. Great customer service. Hard workers. read more

SCAMMED ME!!! I purchased a coffee and 1 donut! I handed her $20 bill and she gave me $3 back! I asked why and she said I have her a $10 bill! I asked for my change and the worker said she would look at her cameras. I asked to speak with the manager apparently there's no manager nor owner! Horrible customer! Never in my life have I've been treated this poorly! I am shaken up! Also, I did not get my change!! Scammers never going here again! As I am a USD student I was a loyal customer. Never again!! Do not trust these people!!!! read more

TIP: CASH ONLY I'm so used to the fancier donut places, that I have forgotten how amazing good old fashioned donuts can taste. This place served fresh, melt in your mouth, delicious delicious donuts. We tried their donut holes, glazed twists, sprinkle, and cake donuts. Can't go wrong with your selection there! read more

I'm a donut snob when it comes to a classic maple bar and iced old fashioned. Rose Donuts is the way to go! We visited later in the evening around 7:30 PM or so and witnessed the gal pulling a tray of donuts out of the oven or warmer. Our donuts were perfect for an evening visit (not stale at all) and the gal behind the counter was patient and friendly. If we are ever in San Diego again we would be happy to re-visit Rose Donuts. read more

Rose Donuts is THE BEST spot in town. Not just this town, but all towns. The staff: My boyfriend, his daughter, and myself are truly treated like family by Connie and the rest of the amazing staff. They are all full of smiles and generosity. If you're a regular, they memorize your orders and finish your sentence when it's your time to place it. I love coming in here! We come in way more often than our waistlines would like but I love calling this place home. We make sure to bring our out-of-town friends here when they visit and it's always rave reviews! The food: Their donuts are fresh and fantastic - light and soft and delicious. Their Country Breakfast Croissant is something I dream about and get typically once a week. I'm a huge fan of hot sauce on my breakfast but even I don't want to mess with what is. They are cash only but have an ATM inside so bring cash or a debit card with you. Waste your time at the boutique donut shops in Little Italy and La Jolla all you want. Rose Donuts has a wider selection, better quality, and genuinely heartfelt and friendly customer service. If you make Rose a habit, Connie and the rest of the staff will learn your order and probably your name within your first handful of visits. 8 years (and a few extra inches around the waist) later, and Connie knows more about me and my daughter than some of my (not-so-close) friends. Obviously, you should come for the donuts. But do yourself a favor and order a combo at least once - KILLER breakfast sandwiches (I waited too long to experience this for myself), a large coffee, and a donut costs pocket change. The donuts are okay. Do know going in that this place gets packed on the weekends. Couple the line out the door with the cramped and impossible parking lot, and you've got a recipe for disaster. I will say that the guy working the counter the day we went in was impossibly happy, though. He smiled at everyone, asked how we were all doing, and hopped to the orders like there was nothing more he'd rather be doing at that very moment. It's nice to interact with someone who takes pride in their work and is happy to be a part of an establishment. Or maybe he was just on one massive sugar high. We got ourselves a few donuts to while the morning away, and with the line of people, I was expecting to be transported to donut heaven on my first bite. Instead, it was just okay. They were sweet and had decent flavor, but their donuts certainly don't overtake Donut Star as my favorite cheat day place. read more

Absolutely delicious donuts! First time I tried a velvet cake donut and it was just perfect! Also great customer service. Cashier super friendly! When we walked in there was no line, when I looked back saw there was a long line our the door, that says a-lot about a place. Long line means great food worth the wait read more

I yelped nearby spots for breakfast since our hotel didn't offer any, this place popped up and we're so glad it did! Our breakfast sandwiches were delicious! We got the deluxe, southern and country, did not disappoint! And a couple bucks more for a combo that includes drink and a donut or donut holes well what more can you ask for! This place is totally recommended (our kids liked it too) and service with a smile and so polite, so definitely stop by here to grub, you won't be let down! read more

Open 24/7 - I'm visiting from AZ so this was my first time, but almost everyone that came in while we were here seemed to know the cashier personally! There were lots of "see you tomorrow's" and "how's so and so," which were some cool exchanges to see (there's clearly a connection between the management and the community). This business is cash only, which normally I am totally fine with. They do offer an ATM machine but the price to withdraw from the machine is $2 which is more than the price of the donut I was trying to buy. I probably would have just paid it had the service not been so horrible. The woman didn't greet us or even come out from the back from about 2 minutes after we arrived, after which she was neither friendly or helpful. We decided to pass. The donut might be spectacular (though they just looked pretty boring and average) but the experience was stacking up to be negative. I would recommend getting a card reader and just charging a 50 cent card fee. No good reason to be cash only and to pass along the high price of atm fees to your customer ‍ read more

We ordered an iced caramel macchiato to go and it was creamy and coffee forward. Parking and seating are limited so you may need to take it to go or share space with your neighbor. Service was nice and the employees were cheerful.

This place be me new haunt, and let me tell ye, the donuts here be as sweet as a siren's song. From the moment I set foot in this fine establishment, I be greeted by the smell of freshly baked pastries and the sight of colorful confections that would make even Blackbeard himself drool with envy. The crew behind the counter be as friendly as a parrot on me shoulder, always ready to serve up a hot cup of grog to wash down me delectable treats. I be particularly fond of the chocolate donuts, so light and fluffy they be like clouds in me mouth. And the jelly-filled treasures be bursting with flavor like a cannonball hitting a ship's hull. I have been going to Rose donuts for 20 years now, actually 21 years now LOL. I can't say enough nice things about this place. The service is awesome, the price is incredibly reasonable and the donuts are delicious. They also make really good sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches and they have ice cream and pretty much everything. I love the old-school attitude there it's family-owned and whenever I get a chance to not give my money to the big corporations I don't and I try to spend it at local businesses like Rose donuts. Can't say enough good things about this place I love Connie she is my BFF for the last several years LOL and please support your local coffee shop. They make espresso and drip coffee and all kinds of cold drinks. The other really cool thing about Rose donuts as they are open 24 hours and I and if you were a night owl like me it's nice to go somewhere and just get a cuppa tea and sit and have a donut. read more

The food here is delicious. They have croissants, sandwiches and donuts and I like them - some cookies too. Croissants are delicious. Sandwiches are fresh and tasty. Donuts are fluffy and perfect. I would not recommend their coffee though. It's not bad but it's not good enough for my tastes buds. The prices are great. You can have more calories than you have paid. They accept only accept cash. They have also combo meals. Combo meals are great. With this you can have croissants, sandwiches and donuts. It is good for a start. You can already taste lots of their food. This store is open for 24 hours. Parking is not that easy. It's quite small. Service here is great and impressive. Staffs are patient and smiley. Rose Donuts is a great local spot to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings late at night! Open until 10pm every single day, it's perfect for those after-dinner donut runs. They've got all the classics and they're done right - delicious, fresh, and with that perfect donut texture. Better than average donut shop, but nothing life changing. I'd be more interested in some of their breakfast items and croissants. We had a regular croissant with our donuts and it was very good. However the donut selection wasn't anything support unique and made it just a good local donut shop, nothing that I'd feel I had to go out of my way to find again. They did have some good ice cream there as well. So even though the donuts weren't as great as I hoped the choices in items maybe makes up the difference for some people. Think I've found my new favorite donut/breakfast shop! I love coming here since it's just a short 10 minute walk from my place but we always come here right after a morning hike. But keeping this review short: super friendly staff, opened 24/7, good donuts, awesome breakfast sandwiches (combo gets you a donut and a small drink), and cash only. A cozy place to get donuts. Their donuts are very fresh; the size of the donut is good and delicious. The shop is clean and a pleasant place to enjoy a breakfast with a HUGE croissant or a sandwich. This is the second time I go for a tuna sandwich and I get she's alone but both times I am told she can't because she is alone. The first time I thought ok I feel bad but the second time, she said she was making donuts and can't make sandwiches. I get it when you're short staffed but you should take off the sandwiches from the menu then and say just donuts! Super frustrating ! I drive 45 mins just for the sandwich! Never again read more

This place sucks. No selection. Just glazed doughnuts and an attitude. The lady had a bad attitude and there was a horrible selection of glazed doughnuts and plain bagels. Go down the street for a way better selection with someone who is more friendly. There open 24 hours but after 8 o clock there is nothing but glazed doughnuts. Why stay open. These doughnuts are amazing! They are light, crispy, with a fully baked doughnut. You can tell the dough quality has been taken into consideration, and they are consistently baked well. Each doughnut is massive from the rising of the dough in the baking process. I have been here several times and I have never come across an undercooked, or greasy doughnut.
