My daughter and her friends went to restaurant today at 7 PM. They paid the waitress, and when they realized that the young girls, aged 16 and 17, were just given water without asking, they ended up paying $56 just for water that they didn't request. The waitress simply brought bottled water without asking if they wanted a refill. It was quite unpleasant, despite the restaurant having a nice ambiance and good food. This experience was very disappointing. It's really unfortunate that the waitstaff took advantage of the fact that there was a group of young girls to make extra money and increase their sales. They could have asked the girls if they wanted anything and informed them that the bottled water was not complimentary. Also, the iced tea was brought without asking, and they just took the glasses away and brought full ones of iced tea. This place is extremely overhyped. I visited on 6/14 around 10 PM. They charged $80 for a hookah that barely lasted 30 minutes, and their drinks--priced at $19--were absolutely terrible. When I mentioned to the waitress that the hookah tasted burnt, she claimed hookahs are only meant to last 30-45 minutes, which is just not true. On top of that, she gave me attitude for simply voicing my concerns. The final bill for just one hookah and two drinks somehow came out to $150. I am a sucker for restaurants that incorporate lots of plants, makes me feel like I'm on a vacation. Lights were dim but enough so you can still see the person across from you. Music wasn't loud. Decor was on point. Loved the vibes here. Finally. THE FOOD!!! Beets were AMAZING- it was such a pleasant surprise with every bite. Beets and pomegranate?! Excellent pairing. It was such a flavor explosion that I had to take a moment to pause and savor the flavor every time I took a bite. What really took the dish to the next level was the yellow cream(?). It had a cumin taste to it which really married all the flavors together--definitely a wow factor. Octopus- YUMM!! Another top dish! Spanish charred octopus sitting on deliciously crafted elote. Stopped in with wifey for dinner on my birthday. Our server was extremely nice and prompt. The appetizers was great, the entrees were amazing (definitely try the salmon). What a delightful find in Studio City! First of all, the space: a green, peaceful, spacious oasis with plenty of room to lounge or dine. Secondly, the service: helpful, friendly and attentive. As all the wine is Armenian the waitress generously brought 3 different pours of white wine for my husband to choose. I also want to say the stemware was so elegant - very thin lip to glass and long stem. My flûte of bubbly was filled to the brim which was very much appreciated! The food was delicious and original and beautifully presented in low plates. You could just stick to appetizers and enjoy their extensive choices. The decor is almost Mediterranean/Tulum vibes with a great closed/open air concept. Stopped by on a Wednesday night for a quick bite and we were literally the only people there. Maybe it's a much more happening place on the weekends. For being the only people there the staff was a bit absent, but when present, extremely nice. They made great food recommendations and wow the food was just delicious! - Steak Tartare Toast was buttery, soft, and just the perfect salty bite and pretty big. -Cremini mushroom pasta!! Umami umami umami! The chew on the pasta was perfect and that creamy mushroom sauce was just too good. Totally recommend! - Persian love story was the perfect salty/sweet treat. If that's your ham, go for it! Yum. Parking may be a slight issue but they do have valet parking available. Was invited here this past week for a holiday get together and I was thoroughly impressed. I remember coming here eons ago and was shocked to discover what they done to the new rouge - it has gone through an entire transformation (the good kind) which now makes it one of my favorite spots on ventura blvd. the vibe/ambience was very fitting, it felt like I was transported to Tulum; in addition, the DJ on this Thursday night was absolutely incredible. I am a DJ myself and I know a good DJ when I hear one ;). Most important, the show stopper here was the food and the hookah. We had ordered a bunch of starters/entrees and they were ALL SO GOOD! The stuffed tiger shrimp, chilean seabass skewers, calamari, vodka posta, fettucini, burger/fries, steak, etc, everything was good here. They also have a special designated area for the hookah near the bar which is a great added touch. It's hard for a spot to have good food AND hookah, but rouge excels in both. Lastly, our server Narek was phenomenal and was attentive the whole night - he was always there when we needed him and ensured we were well taken care of. I've been to this place over 5 years ago for my birthday before the remodeling. I had a great time for my birthday back then. So I decided to surprise my girlfriend on her birthday since the scenery is now completely different from back then. My girlfriend didn't even recognize the place until I told her. She was surprised with family and friends as we entered the lounge. The food is also pretty good. Our waitress was very helpful and polite. She was there whenever we had questions or needed more food and drinks. We had a party of 13 people, so there was a $50 minimum per person. Let me just start off by saying the food is incredible from the apps to the entreès i'm severely impressed. I got the smash burger and the waffle fries. The burger is to die for and the waffle fries are crispy and a great combo with the ranch and ketchup. The service was also impressive, our waitress was extremely nice and when asked about the food she showed us pictures and was happy to help us with whatever we needed. Saving the best for last the ambiance is straight vibes. They retracted the roof shade and seeing the night sky while throwing down a burger was something I didn't think I would be doing tonight. Valet parking $15- worth every penny in studio city. The inside of the restaurant is a vibe, beautiful decor! Menu isn't very large- I had the chicken which was really delicious. The skin and potatoes were crispy and great flavor. Friends for the vodka pasta- it definitely is spicy but super flavorful. We had to get dessert of course- crème brûlée was perfect, the sampler was a crowd pleaser except the brownie we thought needed to be warmed up. Service was excellent! My in-laws, fiancé and I tried this place out on a Thursday evening at 6:30 PM. It was a very quiet evening with a beautiful ambiance. The Muhammara with pita was delicious! As well we had the sourdough and butter which had a delicious crunch and warmth to it. As well the blue crab cake had a nice kick to it with the parsley and pickled veggies. I had the shoes k-town steak with the rice porridge and they do not take it light on the chili oil so make sure you are a fan. The only thing I would say that could use improvement was that the service was very slow and I don't know if that was supposed to be the vibe or due to lack of staff. read more

Rouge recently transformed itself into a gorgeous idyllic jungle-like escape. Upon entering, it is like you are transported to Tulum, but in the comfort of Studio City. The décor and intricate design to detail from the ceilings, to the couches and tables are magical. A space that satisfies all, meaning you have hookah to smoke, cocktails to sip and amazing food to indulge in. My go to drink was the Spicy Passionfruit Margarita. Two of my favorite things in one, the flavors perfectly compliment each other. Espresso martini is ALWAYS a good option. For those wanting a bit of a refreshing drink the Tulum Tonic is the one for you. Note: these are all made with SABE. So they're smooth! Each dish in the menu is clearly very well thought out and tastes remarkable. You will leave quite impressed regardless of what you try. My notable favorites are as follows: Starters: lebneh, shishito peppers, crispy Brussel sprouts (and I say this not liking Brussels,) and definitely the bone marrow. The charred octopus is delightful. The dish that stole the night was the Shoes K town BBQ, the rice porridge with chili oil is soft and creamy with a hint of spice, and the hanger steak just melts in your mouth. For dessert, the olive oil cake was a hit with my friends. The service here is also very impressive. They are very helpful with recommendations, they are extremely attentive which is sometimes a hard find in LA.
