Ambiance: A smaller place with about 15 tables, but nice decor and clean. Overall: Located on the same street as the Powell Cable Car route (corner of Bush St). My husband and I are in San Francisco for the week via my son. We had multiple meals at Roxanne's. The food is delicious. We had breakfast several times and lunch as well. The service is superb, everyone is so nice, pleasant and attentive. The restaurant is very quaint and relaxing, you don't feel rushed in any way. My son joined us for several meals as well and we had a wonderful time. The food is plentiful. We had the Roxanne breakfast and the pancakes were delicious! The restaurant is very close to WorldMark on Bush, and you can catch the cable car right outside the door, on Powell. I would highly recommend this restaurant for any meal. read more

Hostess was very friendly, but service was a little slow because she was the only one attending the tables. Food was mid at best. Pretty underwhelmed with the omelette and hash browns, didn't like the massive onions in the former and the latter had a funky taste. Consuelo & Elisabeth were the best! I got the chance to sit down in a cozy quite spot before my work work meeting- I happened to be traveling for business. The wifey always says, check the reviews! I did, and this was within walking distance of the Marriott Union Square, 2 minutes away. Not only did I enjoy my daily A.M. reading but I also had some nice convos with these gals who treated me like I was family. Definitely felt like being home for breakfast with a metropolitan ambiance. Food is good & service was great! I said I would return with my family next time. Oh yeah, I had the eggs Benedict & corned beef hash, lol 1 day after the next, of course, and respectively. It was ¡delicioso! Accompanied by a nice cup'o'cappuccino. Also highly recommended. Highly recommend this place. Despite covid related regulations, Roxanne was one of the few places still open and taking all the proper safety measures. The food was cooked freshly to order, and the staff was super friendly. Since dining in the café was not an option for obvious reasons, our order was nicely packed with utensils and condiments to-go. Our order was the meatball sandwich with fries on the side and a jalapeno burger. The meatballs were super flavorful and soft, and the burger was cooked perfectly to request, it was spicy! Roxanne is located right on the corner of Powell and Bush at the south east corner which also happens to be a cable car stop. In San Fran pretty much every intersection where the cable car runs are cable car stops. Roxanne is right on Powell so you can't miss it if you're on the Hyde or Mason cable car line. Roxanne would be my last sit down meal in San Fran since I went there for breakfast the morning I was leaving and it was just right down the block from where I was staying so it was a short walk. The inside dining room seems quite welcoming in that being on the corner, there's a lot of windows and natural light from outside. Unfortunately for me being by myself I had the misfortune of sitting at one of the 2 tables in the corner that actually face in. That's right both seats face the wall. It's not the ideal seating and view but it's still a seat. The place wasn't 100% full so it probably would have been nicer sitting at a table in the middle seeing as all the window seats were already taken but being a single diner has its disadvantages. The menu had a few choices for breakfast such as Bennys, regular eggs and sides, pancakes etc. I ended up going with the Roxanne Grande which included 2 eggs, choice of meat, pancakes and potatoes. The plate came and it looked great. The eggs were done to my liking for over easy, the sausages weren't skinny and tiny but I had to wait a few minutes to ask for both syrup and butter which weren't initially brought with the plate. I did have to wait a bit to get a refill on the coffee as well but otherwise the breakfast was good. The service could have been a bit better but it wasn't completely horrible and I probably could have been seated in a better location considering the place wasn't full. Overall the place wasn't bad and I'd go back but I think that those 2 corner tables are a bad idea. It's like being punished for being single or a couple. I don't believe that any place should have tables where both guests are facing the wall (tables in corner). read more

[Out-of-Towner Review] If it has a lot of stars in SF, it's too crowded. Well, that's what we've learned the last few breakfast/brunch attempts. This time was no different. We decided on Roxanne's because of proximity to our parking spot, that is the only reason. When we walked in, there was a small line which moved quickly. Eat and run had a new meaning. You felt the pressure of those waiting to be seated as you ate your meal. No diddle dawdling here! We got down to business when we were seated. Looked at the menu and had a decision within a few minutes. Just having finished a 10k, we were all pretty ravenous. Me, even enough to go for the Steak and Eggs. J went with the Corned Beef Sunrise and Lil with the Strawberry waffles. I may expect too much from restaurants in the City, since so many seem to be so amazing. Roxanne's left plenty to be desired, especially with portion and price. My meal came out nothing like how I ordered it. A medium well steak with crispy potatoes came out a very well done steak with not at all crispy potatoes. I will say, the seasoning on their soft potatoes was really, really good. Almost good enough to ignore the fact that they weren't prepared for how I like them to be. Its cool if they can't make them crispy, then the server should had mentioned that too me, instead of leaving me assuming my order would be correct. The steak was tough and small in portion size, it was ehh. J and Lil enjoyed their dishes to an extent. Anything after 6.2 miles tastes pretty decent. The waffle was okay, seemed to be lacking in strawberries. They did use real corned beef, instead of the can stuff, so that made that dish better. This dish size seemed to be on the larger size, which was appreciated. Their house coffee was decent and lil enjoyed her tea. Our server wasn't bad, but she didn't even ask how our meal was after she brought it. You can tell this place stays busy, so customer service doesn't have to be their strong suit. They get the job done at minimum and it seems to work for them. We all left disappointed and at least still 15% hungry... read more

Got there at 10:37 (I had taken a snap because I was excited to try it) and was seated instantly (outdoors). When I wasn't acknowledged for a drink or food by 11:30 so got up and left. Rating is solely on service not food as I didn't get to try it. read more

My first day in town I was walking around and came by the Roxanne Café. "What a cute little café", I thought to myself. So I decided to make this place my first meal in the city. What a bummer. Being that it was lunchtime I figured I'd get a sandwich or something easy. I have to say, I loved the inside of the restaurant. It was quaint. There was one other customer, a nice bar, and it was decorated nicely. I ordered and iced tea and a burger. In the meantime I noticed gnats flying around which began to worry me. The iced tea was good. The fries weren't bad, but the burger was not good. Very greasy and tasted like a burger you'd buy in the freezer aisle at your local grocer. I'm not knocking those, but if I'm paying $10 for a meal, I want the real thing. Service was kind of meh, especially being that I was one of two people in the entire building. I ate what I could, paid, and left quickly. Maybe they have better food? Don't get the burger and watch out for gnats. read more

Talked to two employees to be seated and was ignored. My last attempt was strange, the employee I spoke to proceeded to count on their fingers because they did not understand I had 3 people in my party. We sat outside on the patio which was uncomfortably hot and filthy with other dirty tables. We asked to keep a menu at our table and the manager and server came to our table in a haste to ask us if we still needed the menu after we ordered. They did not show any haste to seat us or to bring us a straw. The food was horrible quality. I ordered a chef's special with potatoes an omelette and toast. The food was cold and the portion was ridiculously small for a $17 plate. The american sandwich was literally two pieces of i toasted bread with overcooked egg and ham. I cook better for myself at home. Do yourself and favor and save your money. I am disappointed with my experience here. read more

Speaking of small, the portions are just that unfortunately as they even seemed to skimp on giving potatoes which are usually cheap. Pancakes were underwhelming in terms of thickness. There was a line for the restaurant that took about 15 minutes. When we first sat down, they gave us some water which was nice. But when ordering I asked for my meal to have no cheese on it, but they put cheese on it. I still ate it though because I was hungry and my family enjoyed their meals. So overall I believe it gets a 4/5 the staff was really nice too and I felt bad asking for them to redo it. read more

I knew instantly there were going to be issues when the waitress attempted to seat us in a corner table surrounded by larger tables. I'm a life-long power lifter; very broad shouldered and don't fit in small spaces. I asked to be seated along the window for the additional space (there were several open). She made zero attempt at hiding her eye rolling and seated us. It was all downhill from there; had to ask multiple times for coffee and OJ. Over medium eggs came out with runny egg whites; bacon was raw and pancakes were half dough. The place was not full or over busy. My girlfriends meal came out fine. Conclusion: they screwed with my meal because I'd angered the waitress. luckily I didn't eat it and walked with a refund for 1/2 the meal..... be wary of this place read more

This cafe should be the great little cafe that every neighborhood aspires to have. But it doesn't quite make it. It is a small but sunny room. and the ambiance is very nice. A great room to kick off a day in. The service was very average. Just the basics. Get your order. Bring your food. Bring your check. It was not polite but not impolite. There were no stop-bys to see how things were going or if anything else was needed. No greetings at the door or a thank you as you leave. As for the food, it was a basic breakfast. The scrambled eggs were cooked just right. The bacon was slightly overcooked. The rosemary potatoes were relatively good but had a touch too much rosemary. The toast was frugal with only on small slice provided with the meal. I did give it a like. Overall, it was passable. I do wish it lived up to its potential though. read more

First time here and really enjoyed our breakfast. The corned beef sunrise was amazing with real corned beef, not the canned stuff. The potatoes were tasty also. This is a large meal. The pancake sandwich is not really a sandwich but just two pancakes, two eggs and two pieces of bacon. Pancakes were nice and fluffy, and bacon was crispy, but this dish is more on the ordinary side. Waitstaff are friendly, and the place is jammed with lots of tables and chairs and customers which generates a happy and cheerful atmosphere on a Sunday morning. Finding moderately priced meals in the city is definitely hard and for me, I don't ever want to break the bank on breakfast. I had the BCT omelet and was super happy with it, it came with potatoes and toast and overall I think it was the perfect portion size along with everything was super tasty! Also ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream and that was delicious! The service was pretty fast and our sever was nice. The menu looked good so I decided to give it a try. It was quiet at 7:00 on a Tuesday night, so I got a table, right away. The environment is nothing special - it's quite small and I got a booth in the back corner. I started with a side Caesar - it was pretty basic, nothing special. Fro my entree I had the lobster ravioli. It was good, but the portion size was pretty small. The server was very attentive and friendly.
