When this place is great, they hit it out of the park. And they have their off days...and when that happens, it doesn't even deserve a star. It seems most of their off days happen when I take my food to-go on my lunch break because at that point I can't send it back. Check your to-go orders because it's like at a drive-thru where the one time you don't check is when they completely mess up your order. The spam musubi is to die for when it's fresh. One time they gave me an old one and the rice was completely dried out and crusty like it was sitting out overnight. Had to toss that one in the trash as it was inedible. Damn shame. The shoyu chicken is awesome when it's not overcooked and dried out. The pork abodu special is another favorite. I didn't really care for the sweet garlic or teriyaki chicken. The kalbi ribs are not always available, so it's an exciting treat when they have it. The juices from the kalbi flavors the white rice perfectly. And I always substitute one of the rice balls for the mac. It's worth the extra 50 cents easily. The food was good but the customer service was poor. I tried to place a large pickup order and was directed to place the order on line. However, there was a limit to the amount the online order could be ($125) so I called to ask how to place the order. I was told the manager would call me back which did not happen. I called back an hour later and asked to speak to the manager. I was asked why I wanted to talk to the manager, explained the situation, and was told to come to the restaurant to place the order. It really doesn't matter which Roxy's location you go to, expect to never be able to order the spam musubi. Despite them being willing to fry the spam on the side for you, no one will make you a musubi. Slapping rice on either side of a piece of spam then putting nori around it takes less time than frying the chicken I ordered. Make it make sense. Take it off your menu if your employees refuse to make it to order and also won't prepare enough of them. read more

Well, maybe cause they were new, my last review was two stars, but while I was eating here today (yeah that's me) I really feel that they've got their chit down pat now. My guilt while enjoying very affordable keiki (smaller 'kids' portion) I have to admit that the warm and soothing to my stomach shoyu chicken - generous even in the $5 size was needing an update. Love the island music, super chill (dine in ya work out clothes sista) was just what I was craving. You know, important t to recognize when things improve amd they have. I have read another reviewer say they like this location more than Walker Road. Talk about a tale of two reviews! Murray Hill is on my way home and I keep giving them "one more chance." After so many misses I have called it quits for Murray Hill! The grilled chicken is just so overly charred that it's just dry and crunchy, forcing you to dump untold amounts of sauce over it, and the noodles have been awful as well, just greasy remnants of what may have been good portions for someone else. I'll never know! At least at Walker Road there is a display case so you can see what has been prepared fresh so you see what you're going to get BEFORE you order. I feel if the owner(s) were there when I was there they would just be appalled at the product being served. I know how good it can be and what I continue to receive is worlds away. Amazing food, and the staff are super friendly! Service was fast, too. I walked in right at opening time (and so did groups of others), and we were all out of there in less than 10 minutes. I get Hawaiian food for lunch all the time and Roxy's is one of my favorites. Typically I wouldn't leave a review for a business unless something truly stands out but I have almost no choice but to write a 5star review on yelp solely based on customer service. I was in a hurry during lunch time and only had a few minutes to eat so I used the self check out station in the hopes that it would be faster than standing in line to order. 15 minutes later I still hadn't heard my name so I asked if the cashier about the status of my order. The owner came out to look at the machine and said the machine was stuck on a weird screen and usually doesn't look like that.. she then quickly apologized and gave me a complimentary meal.. How nice of her! The food was amazing as always.. Will definitely be coming back often. read more

I've been to this place multiple times throughout my life and every time I go it's always busy. Although it's always busy they manage to take people's orders quickly and efficiently. The restaurant is decorated with a lot of Hawaiian things. The restaurant also has a lot of seating options for when it does get busy. This restaurant is very inexpensive for the proportions they give you. I usually get the teriyaki chicken and it comes with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. The teriyaki chicken is cooked perfectly with just the right amount of flavor. My boyfriend gets the garlic chicken and it comes with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. The garlic chicken is crispy with every bite you take and it's very garlicky. I would come back here. read more

We randomly found this place while we were walking around our neighborhood trying to find a place to eat. It wasn't really busy when we walked in, but a lot of people came in for takeout. They have quite a few choices and allow you to sample their food before you decide. The staff was helpful and kind. You can also choose between a few sides. The food was excellent! There is also a LOT of it. Both my husband and I easily got two full meals out of it. It was fairly inexpensive, too. We will definitely come back. read more

Good food, love their Mac. I'll pick some up in the summer if I'm Bbq'ing with friends, and just serve it as a side. Atmosphere isn't the greatest for dine-in, since most people get it to go, and there's usually a line of people that stand and watch you eat while they wait for their food. Not anything against the restaurant, it's just popular and most choose to take it to go. I don't go here as often as I used to. Average wait for one meal is sometimes 20-30min. They defend the amount of time it takes by hanging a sign up that explains it's not fast food. While I agree, efficiency seems to be lacking or any sort of structure, which could bring wait times down to 10 minutes maybe? It's the only reason I go once in a blue moon. Everytime I think about going, I think of the long wait times, then change my mind. It honestly costs them business as I'm sure I'm not the only person that thinks this way. Again, all in all, really good food. But, honestly it's not "wait 20-30min good". I can sit at home and get a pizza delivered in almost that time frame read more

I don't know what happened with Roxys. The food is good but unfortunately been getting greasier each time I have it. The food is still worth a solid 4 stars but the service is worth 1. There is 0 communication when picking up food, no one knows what order is what and everyone is rude. We sat for 40 mins waiting and checking if our food was ready...twice. That was even after we had ordered it online! After the third time we asked if our food was ready they handed us a bag sitting in front of them that was there for awhile! We could have gotten our food much sooner if they knew what was going on. 0 communication, 0 knowledge of who's food was what. There needs to be some leadership in the front of house. Your usual Island offerings can be found here - Shoyu Chicken, Kalua Pork, Loco Moco... The shoyu chicken was a bit too heavily "sauced" for me, as there was a pool of liquid sitting at the bottom. Other than that, it was very filling. They are a bit skimpy on the macaroni side compared with other places I've been to. The interior leaves a lot to be desired. If you need a quick ONO bite though, this is an OK bet. read more

Food flavors are always spot on, however my garlic chicken was completely dried out/overcooked and the crispy parts had gone soggy by the time my order was given to me. My partner went to pick it up in store after we ordered online, and had to wait 15 minutes in line, for an order that was already paid for and packaged before he arrived. When he went to the register to ask about the process for pick up orders he and multiple other people were told they had to wait in line while others placed their orders. First time trying it. I got the short rib plate. Overall it was great. The short ribs could've been a little less bbqd. I think a little black and crunchy crust is great but this was just a little too much. Most of it was great though. The Mac salad- so l&l used to be my favorite Mac salad but this was way better! Instead of rice I got the chicken fried rice (1.00 more but worth it) . The mixed veggies was my 3rd side and those were crunchy and fresh. People that worked there were polite. read more

Roxy's is my #1 go-to for a protein packed lunch. When I first came to Roxy's, I was offered samples so I could figure out what I liked. I tried a few things, but the shoyu chicken was so tender and flavorful, I haven't needed to try anything since. They give you a heaping plate of meat and sides--what's not to love? I have never been to Hawaii, but I have a feeling that the warm, full feeling you get from eating a Roxy's plate lunch is how island hospitality is supposed to be. Roxy's also has the best mac-salad around; I find some places to have theirs either on the bland or watery side. I love this location better than the other Roxy's because it doesn't seem to be as busy. At the Walker Rd. Location, there is often not even a place to stand while waiting for food. I don't find the quality of the food or service here to be any less than the main location. read more

Been there before and the food is ok. Hawaiian Time is probably better but the person i was with wanted to go there last night. We went in at about 7:40. I guess they close at 8. The guy at the counter tells me that "since we are nearing closing we are asking you to get your food to go." I can't believe he said something that hilarious and rude. Is that what the owner or manager wants the employees to say? If so they missed the part of the restaurant blueprint that successful restaurants around the world subscribe to. That being "the last customer of the day gets the same food and service as the first customer of the day." I'm sure there are enough customers who won't mind being told where they are allowed to eat their food that they won't miss our business. I moved out here to Oregon a few years ago from Southern California and really missed the Hawaiian restaurant I used to eat at. I've since eaten at a few of Roxy's locations and they're all serving the same delicious goodness! The portion sizes are great and the prices aren't too bad. This is a traditional Hawaiian restaurant. We got the garlic chicken and shoyu chicken. Both had excellent flavor. The shoyu chicken wasn't as salty as others. The employee said those two dishes were their most popular. They have several house sauces you can mix to create new ones. Their Mac salad is a little better than others. So far, this is my favorite Hawaiian grill in the area. My rating scale: 1=don't go there 2=OK, but there are better places 3=good 4=excellent 5=Michelin level IMO (may or may not have Michelin star) read more

Loco Moco FAIL x2 My wife and I grew up on Maui and Oahu. After moving to Beaverton about five years ago, we eventually started to crave plate lunches. We tried a couple places and ended up liking Roxy's. The food at this location has been okay, but eventually we ended up cooking our own because we could do it better. Sometimes we get lazy or just want to eat out, so we'd visit this Roxy's since it's close to our house. My wife had to run an errand today (11/21/2016) and was in the area, so she thought it would be a nasty-good dietary splurge to get us both Loco Moco's for lunch. We sat down, anxious to eat and hungry! Well, of the two Loco Moco plates she bought us, one of them did not have the burger!!! What the heck?!? If you know Loco Moco's, it's like ordering a hamburger and only getting the bun. Couldn't call to complain, they don't have a phone number listed. Couldn't drive back to complain - it's a work day and one of us would have to take vacation time. I titled this review, "FAIL x2" because the last time I ordered a Loco Moco from this location, I requested my egg be cooked over easy. When I got my Loco Moco, the egg was sunny side up. Since I was eating at this location, I mentioned this to the person at the counter. They took my plate lunch back and cooked another set of eggs. FAIL. I got my eggs back over hard... After that egg ordeal, my wife and I decided this Roxy's location was worth patronizing. Shame on us for going back again today! They still can't get simple things right. I love this place for a quick, delicious, inexpensive lunch. I always get the Kalua Pork, which is a "special" marked on their chalkboard that they seem to have every day I've been. (I have seen them run out later in the day, though, so be aware that this is a possibility.) Approximately $8 for (what I consider to be) 2 full meals is a screaming deal. A giant heaping pile of pork comes with two scoops of rice and macaroni salad. The pork has awesome flavor, and it is even better when paired with the macaroni salad. You can sub out the macaroni for other items. We've done the veggies before, as my husband is GF, but their vegetables seem to be 90% cabbage, which wasn't that exciting. You order at a counter, and they call your name to pick up your food. If eating in the restaurant, you bus your own tables. It's a very casual place. Don't forget to tack on the Hawaiian classic of Spam musabi, which they keep handy by the cash register. read more

Here it is. Roxy's 3.0. All the favorites that they have at their other two locations are available. Even one with a slight twist: pineapple chicken! Dean says that due a nearby restaurant having orange chicken on the menu the bylaws of their lease state they aren't allowed to have a duplicate menu item name. So, they got creative. Count on Roxy's for that, and count on me being a frequent visitor. Roxy's is probably the one restaurant that I seemingly never get tired of. Shoyu chicken, kalbi chicken, orange *ahem*, excuse me, PINEAPPLE chicken, sweet garlic chicken... love them all. Add the best macaroni salad I've ever eaten and sticky rice and that's just about the perfect lunch. Or dinner. Occasionally I'll mix it up and get the teriyaki burger, which is AMAZING. They've only been open for just over a week at this point, so excuse the drop cloths, buckets of paint and/or spackle. I used to live in Kauai. I miss legit local food. There are many places in the metro area that claim to be authentic local food. Many of them are poor excuses. Roxy's is decent. Love the shoyu chicken. Love the teri-burger. Mac salad is not my favorite, which was worth one less overall star. Too much mayo and not enough flavor. Mac salad is a staple of any local food restaurant or local cook. But they make up with it in the mixed teri-sriracha sauce in bottles! I am speechless. I normally go to the Walker Rd. location but they were closed, so I went to the Murray location. HUGE MISTAKE!! You'd figure the food would be the same, but the crap I got at this location was terrible. The macaroni salad was old & stale tasting and both the chicken kalbi and sweet garlic chicken were horrible. Probably also old. This was an absolute waste of $15.00 To top it off, there is no listing for their phone number, so I couldn't even call to complain. I never knew that I liked Hawaiian food until Roxy's entered my life. My favorite dishes are: Teri Beef, Pineapple Chicken, Teri Chicken and the Spam Musubi. Always get the plate with 2 SCOOPS OF MAC. And 1 scoop of rice. The sauce bar is kind of messy all the time but it adds to the charm of the place. I don't think I've ever eaten there but sitting and waiting for rarely takes longer than 15 minutes. I've probably been here about 50 times and will continue to come in. I wish I could place my order over the phone. If that service option was available I would eat here way more often! read more
