Food was great until we got home and girlfriend got sick from the nachos... Also noticed the manager was being kind of rude to his employees. He was reprimanding one of the cashiers in front of customers and I didn't feel that was right, kind of an awkward situation. Time and place. read more

I don't recommend ordering online from rubios at all! Your order will be screwed up!! I ordered three children's meals and none of them had apple juice, one of the meals was a cheese quesadilla and not a chicken quesadilla. Came in for lunch today and had the lobster burrito and chips. Food was great, tasty, worth the cost. But the service and staff were OUTSTANDING! Friendly and smiling and very helpful. The manager was very cordial and patient. It was about 80% full and everything seemed to run very smoothly. I only waited about 5 minutes for my food and it came out hot and fresh. I visit this Rubio's at least once a week. The grilled fish tacos are the best I have ever tasted and they are what keeps me coming back. They changed the way that they make them so I always have to specify to make them "the old way" which is the white sauce, pico, guacamole, cabbage and cheese. The new way has the roasted corn salsa and cabbage. Both ways are great but I love the old style and they are always willing to accommodate my picky tastes. Great customer service! Before we even walked in the manager addressed some people smoking outside asking them to not smoke in front of the restaurant. I told him how much I appreciated that. The grilled tilapia burrito is good, has a little kick though. The mango iced tea is great. They rushed to brew a fresh batch when I informed them they were out. read more

This Rubio's recently went under new construction, and it looks great. I'm not sure if they got new management also, but I have never left so pleased, and I only got a ToGo order. The manager, Fernando, was so pleasant. I can tell that excellent guest service is his #1 goal. He was so nice as he took my order and was very accommodating. I told him that I don't like onions and that sometimes I forget to order my food without it. He let me know that if I ever forgot to order my food without onions, to bring it back and they would fix it with no problem. The food here is always great, and this manager deserves a pay raise! Every time he wasn't helping a guest, he was making sure his employees were okay and doing everything they could do to provide excellent guest service. Thank you for the great service, Fernando. We were amazed by the service. Elvis, (maybe he said alvin) the manager asked how are day was, made some funny small talk. Very, very courteous. I ordered a combo plate with two tacos, beans, and chips. I had a seat and they brought it out to me, except they forgot to add the beans. So, I ate what was on my plate, and then politely asked if my plate was supposed to have the beans. The girl wasn't sure, even after I told her my order. I had to show her on the menu. She implied that I ordered something else, so I showed her my receipt. Then, she said that my plate actually had the beans on it. At this point I walked away, because she basically accused me of lying. So, I paid $10 for two little tacos and horrible service. read more

I can't believe how amazing this service was, the best I have ever received and that is no hyperbole. My GF and I showed up at 8:57 and they were closing at 9, we insisted on leaving. Mayra, the shift manager, demanded we stayed and refuse to let us leave hungry. We aren't the type of people to make people stay at a restaurant past their working hours and consider it rude, but Mayra couldn't have been sweeter, she even gave us complimentary drinks... what?!?!... why?!?! She's the best! I insisted on tipping her and the staff but she refused to allow us to do so. The food was perfect. Terrible customer service from GM Fernando at this Costa Mesa location. I tried calling this store to order two party platters (20 burritos). Noone answered the four times I called around 1pm. So I went over there to place the order. Fernando the GM told me he could not fulfill my order because it would back up the kitchen too much and it gets busy around lunch time so they could not make the 20 burritos. I told him I would wait an hour but he still rejected my order. No apology or anything, he was extremley rude. I went next door to Jimmy John's and they had $100 worth of sandwiches ready within 20 minutes. Our company will never do business with this location or store again. read more

Rubio's has always been on of my favourite spots to scarf down some fish tacos and relax a bit. I like the atmosphere and decor: It kind of reminds me of that room in your cool uncle's house where he exhibits all his fishing trophies and has a fully stocked Tiki bar. The food is always delish and the salsa is pretty proper in taste if I must say. I (as well as my stomach) always enjoy stopping in Rubios and wish I could do it more often. Cheers! read more

If you like wet soggy burritos, this Rubio's has you covered! Their delectable salsa fresca is watery enough when stuffed in a warm burrito to make all the rest of it fall out shortly after taking a few bites. It's truly quite an amazing sight to behold! Not only do you have the pleasure to enjoy a newly pulp burrito, but allowed to experience what makes it one-of-a-kind from the inside out! This used to be one of my favorite places to eat but recently they changed to rubios costal grill and all the prices went up by two or more dollars and all the sodas are two thirds water, and to add insult to injury they always get your orders wrong forget something and sloppily put it in the box so I would no longer recommend it read more

I ordered from the catering menu yesterday to be picked up today at 11:15. I got there 15 minutes early and told them I was there for the catering order. At 11:15 I asked if it was ready and was told almost. At 11:20 I was told that they had only started making it about 15 minutes earlier and it wasn't ready. Because of all of the delays I was 20 minutes late to my lunch meeting. I'm very disappointed. read more

We love this place. The location is great with ample parking and a large dog friendly patio with umbrellas located in Costa Mesa's Triangle shopping center. Great food, fast service, good size servings. There is a Coffee Bean near by, so we get our coffee there and get the lunch here to enjoy in the patio. Lovely place to meet friend and bring kids too. OK place. A bit overpriced. Got mahi mahi grilled taco plate for about $9. Fish was dry and tasted a bit fishy. I found one medium sized bone in it too. No rice, just beans. Ok salsa bar. Bathrooms are locked and require you to go to front to ask them to be unlocked remotely. I waited behind locked door for a long time before figuring out i needed to go ask them to unlock it remotely. The note on bathroom door just says bathroom is for customers only. Inconvenient. Bathroom has timed push faucets. Inconvenient. Did not win me over. read more

The food is really good and I especially enjoy their portion sizes. My favorite part is their variety of salsas! It makes everything taste so fresh and full of unique flavors.
