And tasted like it was leftover from yesterday. The restaurant is barely 15 min away; I have ordered from here before & food was still hot. So no quality control today? Rice dry, cold & hard like it was days old. Large Mexican corn barely half full. Way too much creme, corn too burnt to have flavor. Had to deconstruct everything to heat up shrimp,fish rice & beans. Let me start by saying that Rubio's is absolutely delicious and a healthier alternative to many fast food establishments. I work nearby so I love coming here. I came the day after Christmas and for some reason the Block was absolutely slammed. Rubio's had a line waiting to order, despite the line the manager was extremely professional and courteous. Nothing but high notes for her. My only issue with this location, maybe due to it be a high traffic and high tourist area is that I always feel like I get inconsistent amounts of protein. Other stand alone locations will always give you more protein. Great spot nonetheless. read more

This Rubio's is really not run well. We went for taco Tuesday and we had a yelp check in offer for $4 off two entrees. So, we ordered a California bowl and a California burrito. The whole reason why we ordered the two entrees he because they each come w guacamole. To our surprise, both entrees arrived with NO guacamole. I went to the counter to ask why the guacamole was missing. She says, "didn't she tell you we're out of guacamole?" No. Had she told me there wasn't any guacamole, we wouldn't have ordered what we did. Duh. So then she says, we have a sign. The "sign" said that the source of their supplies is low. Nothing specifically mentioned avocados or guacamole being unavailable. ‍ So the girl at the counter shouts to the back that I'm asking for something since I didn't get any guacamole. The manager stayed in the back and just said that I could have cheese or sour cream instead. I don't want cheese or sour cream. If I did, I would've ordered it! So, I say, I'll take a fish taco for my inconvenience. Manager says, no. He didn't even have the guts to come out front and tell me himself. He just tells his counter girl to tell me. So I asked her to have him come out front cuz this is unacceptable. Cut to the chase, he came out front and he gave me a free fish taco. But seriously... what horrible customer service! 1) tell people that you have no guacamole 2) if your employee fails to let customers know, be a Manager and come out front and handle the situation. 3) don't tell me that it's my fault for not reading "the sign". Oh really??? The sign that says you're out of supplies but does not specifically say that you're out of guacamole?? How do I know you're not out of napkins? Or forks? Or chips?? That's too bad. I love Rubios! This location is near my work, so I stopped in for my favorite classic fish burrito. I sub the black beans for the pinto beans. I love the chips and salsa!! I can drink the salsa!! This is my "California Burrito" unwrapped. No, my hands aren't huge by any means, this burrito is tiny. I've been to many other Rubios' locations and this is by far the smallest I've seen. To be honest , I wouldn't mind eating this but there's only about 5 fries inside and I'm also missing my cheese, sour cream and chipotle sauce. Its probably my only favorite place to eat at the Outlet of Orange. They offer a YELP CHECK IN, 4bucks off two entrees. I tried ordering a taco plate plus a kids meal. Kids meal doesnt count. So to get the offer, I got the two taco plate and a chopped salad. It was $11.00! Alot of food too! Their fish tacos here has always been good. It was my first time trying their chopped salad. It was really really good! There was finely chopped cabbage in it. It had a smoky taste to the dressing. And my favorite part, is the finely sherred cheese!!!! I've been pleased with Rubio's fish tacos for several years. Thank you for staying true to your creativity, menu and quality. Since I typically get the fish tacos, I am reminded that these are items that should best be consumed soon after being made to fully appreciate. Rubio's is a casual fast food restaurant that serves Americanized Mexican food. This spot has plenty of tables for dining in and patio seating as well. You place your order at the front counter and take your number stand to the table. They will bring the food out to you. We had the fish taco platter which comes with the refried beans and a soft drink. The crispy fish tacos are ok. I had the lobster taco a la carte which was not that good. The texture of the lobster was different and I didn't like it. I prefer corn tortillas vs flour. I also got the chips and guacamole which were bland. Get the chipotle salsa at the self serve bar. It's the only thing that was flavorful. I probably wouldn't eat here unless there was no other options. The food was just average. read more

I ordered a California bowl with shrimp and chicken, I paid $3 for the chicken and they served me a little portion of burn chicken, I asked for a refund for the Chicken and they said it's okay, but the lady manger showed face frustration and attitude,they sent my food back and after 10 min I got the same bowl, they didn't even clean it it make it prettier. Overall, an okay place to stop by while shopping at the Block. It's convenient location is the only thing scoring it points. There's actually quite a lot of seats compared to other restaurants nearby and a bathroom (but it's not really clean). We ordered a Chicken Burrito Especial and a Chicken Baja Grill Burrito. $16 for 2 underwhelming burritos. It didn't look appetizing when served. Just a sad burrito plated with some stale chips (photos are a result of me elevating it for presentation purposes). The food, in particular the tortilla, is kind of dry and the chips are super stale. You definitely need to take advantage of their sauces and lime because the flavor is seriously lacking. I regret not checking in earlier and being able to redeem that $4 off a 2 entree purchase because it would've made this meal less regrettable. read more

I love Rubio's, so it kills me to leave such a horrible review. But believe me, this one star is well deserved. This location at the Outlets of Orange used to be well managed, clean, and served great food. But the last 2 visits have been disasters. Observations: Guy who took our order, no name tag, was rude and unhelpful, and just did not want to be there. This is Sunday 8/19 at 5pm. I don't know if he's got personal stuff going on outside of work, but damn he really was borderline jerk. The restaurant was dirty- plates and bottles stacked really high at the trash, salsa spills by the bar, no silverware, and the tables were sticky and gross. The restroom was equally nasty. Our salads arrive and only fill half the bowl! And the mahi mahi portion was ridiculously small. Other locations have given a normal amount. So this was definitely not the usual. The food here is actually pretty good. Shocking, I know. This is inside an outlet mall in food court alley, and I wasn't expecting much when I walked in, but wow, the food is made fresh and brought hot to your table. Fried fish tacos were hot and crispy and were more fish than batter. Tortillas were soft and warm but didn't fall apart. Cabbage was crisp and not dry at all. Sauces and salsas were also cool and refreshing. Chicken bowl was hot and generous. Chicken pieces were tender. Rice was fluffy. Cilantro was bright and aromatic. I was very happy with this. The cashiers are usually not the friendliest but if you're not an ass to them, they won't be an ass to you. Mind that fact that they work in a busy shopping plaza and the people they have to put up with aren't the best, so maybe practice some compassion and patience when you order because the customer is NOT always right. Your cashier is also a human being. At any rate, the dining area is kept really clean and the patio seating offers several tables though they do fill up quickly. I kind of enjoy coming here for a bite when I'm in the plaza (usually Puma and Nike). The food here is always fresh, the fish tacos are always a great size- the cabbage is never wilted, just crunchy and delicious. Seriously unhappy tonight. My daughter and I eat at your location quite regularly, sometimes a couple times a week. I'm really getting tired of having to look the other way. I was the first customer during the summer on the day that the health department had shut you down for no hot water. We ordered around the fact that you didn't have any tortillas. And yes I'm a pain in that I ordered my soup deconstructed because the child refuses to eatThe vegetables. I'm sure you're used to it now since we order it quite a few times a week. Tonight I ordered it to taco Langostino plate and three bowls of soup two deconstructed and one regular. The bill was a little more than I thought but the girl had repeated back the order to me. What arrived was a large bowl of Langostino. Not tacos. When I complained I was told they were out of Langostino. One girl apologized but usually and the other that took my order just shrugged and went whatever. I figured as long as the soups were fine then I could deal with it. And of course you guessed it. The soup was screwed up And the kids won't eat. So now I have $30 worth of mush in a bowl and soups. Guess I'll keep having to make the drive to the Main Street -update. Management encouraged us to give them another try. We've gone in several times now since the unpleasant experience. They seem to have some new people working who have been quite pleasant. This is a picture of the slop they call beans here. This is the scariest trough of goop ive seen. The order came with chips. We asked for beans because we have braces, chips brake braces. When the order was delivered to the table it still had chips. Should have taken the chips then cause the beans were not humanly natural. Not sure what y'all are concocting back there but it sure as hell aint Mexican food. Del Taco and taco bell both put this place to shame. This Rubio's ran out of Pinto and Guacamole, but we were still charged the full price as if it was included. We asked if we could get 10% off so the inconvenience but the manager was very short and rude and did not seem to want to help us. My Alaskan burrito was decent, but would have been better with Guac. Came here for National Burrito Day. Got me a nice $5 burrito. Purchased the crispy shrimp burrito with a beverage. The first table that I situated at was so sticky! I had to move to another table. It was a bit of a wait till the burrito hit the table. When it came, the presentation made this it classier than the burrito from your local food truck. As usual, this Rubio's burrito tasted as fresh as the food I've had at other locations. Topped each savory bite with some lime and chipotle salsa. I did feel that it could have used more shrimp, cause not every bite didn't have a crispy shrimp to bite into. The chips could have tasted a bit fresher, and there were many small chips on my plate. As far as the beverage options, I went for the Odwalla lemonade, which was pretty sweet. So this may be a mixed lemonade. read more

Our Family loves Rubio's, but this location has terrible organization and service. I don't usually write bad reviews, but I would suggest you check your order, before leaving here. This happened today 7/21/2020 around 6.45 PM at the outlets of Orange location. I think they mixed up multiple orders, and sent us off with the wrong order, without checking our name. When we noticed and walked back, I confirmed our order with the cashier verbally again. I was friendly and accommodating to the people who worked there, assuming they would not mess up a second time. Sadly they did. When we got home with our food, my kids' bean and cheese burritos had some red jalapeños sauce on them, so they had no meals. They also got the kids a side of chips instead of fries, as we had ordered, despite the fact that we had already ordered a large side of chips. Why would we need all these chips. It just all didn't make sense. Not sure if Rubio's management checks their reviews, but please check with your staff on confirming orders before handing them out, or reading the name on the receipt, before handing it out. Last week I made an error and accidentally ordered my food there instead of where I was at an the manager Andrea was super understanding and kind and canceled my order. I went in there today, as I normally do and was helped by Linda who was friendly, professional and fast. The ambiance was good and the place was clean. I will certainly be going back. This place use to be good. The food was excellent, service was top notch. Not any more. Went in there today for dinner. I had to take my plate back twice because the shrimp was burnt, over salted (it was exactly like eating a salt lick), tail was still on the shrimp, cheese not crusted as usual, all sauce. It was absolutely unacceptable. I even had to stand there at the front and wait because the employees who saw me standing there just ignored me and went to do other things. The manager came out, issued me a refund and even offered me another plate at no charge to me. I refused due to my food constantly being burnt. She even gave me $10 card. The managers service is why I am giving this place one star. If the manager didn't offer the customer service that she did, this place would have received zero stars. UPDATE 6/28/19: The business owner wanted me to go to a website that doesn't work, to have someone else get back to me. This person is the business owner. Why doesn't him or her settle it with me? Normally I like Rubios, but this is the most discombobulated branch I've ever seen. They are simply not equipped to handle the rush of a busy weekend at the outlets. Their P.O.S. system is old and doesn't communicate with the kitchen so orders are frequently wrong, delayed, or never even get there. Today was the second time this month I had to wait over 25 minutes for my food and I wasn't the only one. The staff is very courteous but appear extremely overworked.
