I don't normally go to this Rubio's. Normally I go to the one on 59th. Service was fine, it was a touch busy when I was there to pick up my order. Food was so salty. I had to add a bunch of veggies to make my double protein bowl edible. Family tried it and they also said it was salty. The carrots and peppers were salty to the point it was inedible. Salsas were very mid. Tacos were decent. Queso was decent. Basically I've never ordered the protein bowls there and the flavor was decent just so salty. So I don't know if the bowls are just that salty or if someone thought they didn't add salt so they accidentally added it again. I love seafood. Whenever I get Mexican food, I am really excited if they have seafood options, so when I discovered this chain, I was over the moon. So many seafood tacos options. Although I've been in the restaurant before and the service was great, this time I had someone else pick it up for me so I cannot comment too much on the service or ambiance. We were craving Rubio's, as it has been a while. A favorite is the Cilantro Lime Chicken Bowl. Tried the California Burrito this time. Cilantro Lime Chicken Bowl was decent. I liked the cauliflower, and the mild Lime flavor. My husband was disappointed that the Lime flavor was not stronger. California Burrito was really good. I would definitely recommend this one. It was messy and tasted good. The tortilla chips were cold. I would prefer them to be warmed, as there is more flavor. This visit was just okay. Service was good though. read more

It's has been years since I have eaten Rubio's. A dine and donate type fundraiser put Rubio's back on my radar. Rubio's hosts dine and donate fundraisers for schools and non-profit organizations. Food was prepared quickly. We paid at the register, and the food was brought to our table. Everything tasted and looked fresh. Bowl with quinoa and rice are surprisingly filling. Avocado was ripe. Chicken had a nice char to it. Nachos are well topped. Burritos come with chips and salsa. Children's meals come with an entree, two sides, and a drink. Children's bean and cheese burrito was stuffed. Several taco deals on Tuesdays. Self-serve salsa bar. Salsas range from the very mild to hot! Several salsa varieties to choose from... or choose them all. Salsas all looked and tasted fresh. There was also cilantro with chopped onions, peppers, and limes. Fast casual with pictures that have a Baja Mexico or surf vibe. Seating is available inside, as well as on the patio. There is plenty of shared parking. An app is available to order from. We've been frequenting this location on and off for about 10 years. I've never had a bad experience. Until tonight. First off the initial interaction from being greeted to ordering was amazing. Friendly and even small talk. The place only had three customers besides us but I imagine they were busy with online orders too. The girl who came out front grabbed our order and just dropped it onto the counter, I said thank you, not rudely either, she didn't even acknowledge it. Just walked away. It seemed a bit rude but it doesn't happen at that location. Which is why it stood out to me. Second, I ordered the grilled gourmet shrimp tacos. I always order on flour tortillas. It has the cheese on the inside that is grilled onto the tortilla. Well the cheese was burned, black. It made the taco so hard to even eat. In the 10 years we've been going there I have only ordered that and I've never had a bad meal. It was awful and I was so disappointed. They could use some quality control. I feel odd writing a review of a fast food place but I had a really great experience at this Rubio's. One, I like that Rubio's has mexican rice and not just the cilantro lime stuff that every other fast food mexican place has. I'm a picky eater, to put it mildly. I ordered a burrito from Rubio's. They don't have the burrito I ordered on the menu because I have to customize things to what I will eat. The man taking my order found a great way to ring up what I wanted without overcharging me and he made sure the people in the kitchen made it correctly. My burrito was delicious. I have no idea why people are rating Rubio's just 1-star. I mean, if you don't like seafood or Mexican food - then why in the world are you eating at Rubio's? I've eaten here numerous times and I've also ordered here for delivery many times. The food is always fresh & my orders have always been perfect. If I don't want salsa - there's no salsa. If I prefer a taco with no avocado - there's no avocado. I'm not quite sure how or why I would rate them lower? Plenty of ample parking. The parking lot, the entryway and the seating area is super clean. The employees always greet me when I enter which is great. I don't need anyone to be my BFF as they're taking my order. I don't know what some reviewers a mean when they say the employees aren't friendly? You butthurt 'cuz you ain't invited over to the manager's house for BBQ this weekend? They greeted you. The bowls here have become very good and better value than ordering a burrito. The street corn bowl with chicken has beans, rice, corn and other stuff. I liked the bowls a bit better when they had lettuce also, but these are still filling fir about $11. Ice water saves money if needed. read more

Sign up for their E-Club, and the week before/after your birthday, you get a free entree with purchase of a drink. Score! The lady brought out my plate with my burrito and some chips on it. Here is how it was............... Shrimp and Bacon Burrito- Doesn't that just sound delicious? Shrimp and bacon? Hell to the yes! This burrito was packed with flavor! It had shrimp, bacon, guacamole, jalapenos, rice, cheese and salsa in it! It was delicious! There were probably 10 shrimp in it! The flavors meshed very well, and the jalapenos gave it some sneaky heat! The cheese was like a fried cheese crisp almost. Great texture, and good flavor! Fresh guacamole, perfectly cooked rice and and overall, it was pretty fat! I don't know if I would pay the regular price for it ($8.99), but for free?? Shit yes! This burrito was delicious! It has been close to 10 years since visiting any Rubio's because I moved away from one that was close to me and the one that was then near me turned into a Thai restaurant. (A change for the better) Rubio's food was always decent, but never great. One thing that I remembered was I really liked the ambiance and music, it is now nothing like I remember. I will give kudos to the place being very clean, it was just super loud. This is probably something to do with the area, I have found that you can not hold a conversation at any restaurant in or around Arrowhead area. No fault of the Rubio's brand If you are looking for a decent fish taco, there are other places around. One thing that I do remember, it was great to be able to get $1 Tuesday fish tacos when you're low on dough. We all know when you're broke, you eat cheap, quality comes second. The basic tacos are kind of tasteless fish sticks in a tortilla and now the Tuesday special is up to $2 each, which isn't bad considering the constant fast food competition and inflation. They are still in business so, they must be doing something right. Give it a shot! I might be wrong. Stay away from the tortilla chips as they are as hard as glass and ninjas carry them as deadly weapons. Personally, there are a couple other fast food giants that offer a fish stick in a tortilla for cheaper that taste better and even more small businesses around that set a higher bar for these type of fish stick tacos. If anyone has any good recommendations for a good fish taco in Arizona, I'm all ears. I have my go to places in other states and I just settle for second best until I can get back to my old stomping grounds to eat. read more

I recently stopped to grab dinner for the first time at Rubio's @ 75th & Bell on a whim... and was not disappointed. Got fish tacos for hubby and the salad w/chicken for me - both were delicious. We went back last Sunday for lunch and hubby once again got his fish tacos - and I got chicken tacos. Neither of us were disappointed. Got a bowl and it was amazing! Better and fresher quality than a chipotle for sure. I use to eat here all the time, but their quality has changed. The shrimp in the tacos are smaller and taste less fresh, plus they only give you 4 petite shrimp so you feel like you are biting into all tortilla. I am sad to say I won't be eating here anymore. read more

Today I went in to get fish tacos. This used to be a great go to place and I was excited to finally be able to go back to my 'go to' Fish taco place since moving back. Well I ordered my fish taco plate to go, mistake number one. At least 8 people behind me were served before me that were dining in for their food. I asked the woman what was happening with my food and why others that came in after me were being served and she replied they had an easy order. One family had multiple items and I had a fish taco plate. So I call BS. 30 minutes later and still counting people being served behind me and I told her I had to leave and she could just give my food to one of the 6 guys that just walked up cause I had a meeting and I left. This was the worst experience of my life and I WILL NEVER set foot here! I had even provided a 20% tip to these people! Does anyone care that this place has gone downhill? Is there a GM, DM or someone that leads this establishment cause this was completely unacceptable. My total amount that I gave away today was $17.08. Never never go here!! And yes other customers were asking for their food too. But, they got theirs and came in after me. So there is clearly a labor and customer service issue here. We love our Rubios! Their Alaskan Cod fish burrito is amazing and I definitely recommend it if you like fish. The California burrito is amazing too especially when you add the green salsa verse sauce. Not in the mood for a burrito? Then the bowls at Rubios are a must. They were OK the only reason we are giving them a three stars is because of the tortilla selection they are the yellow corn tortillas versus the lighter white corn tortillas. HOWEVER The staff was great the lady did everything I asked for when it came to putting all the condiments separately because it is only to go during this whole cove 19 season. Over the past couple of years the prices at Rubio's have increased over 50% and the portions have gotten smaller and the quality isn't the same. I realize it is extremely difficult for restaurants right now with sky high overhead and difficulty maintaining staff despite all time high wages. The first person to take our order was nice and pleasant, a young girl! Upon noticing a table with more people got there order before us was concerning to me. I then approached the counter to see where our food was and was greeted by a rude man who questioned what I needed as if we didn't just place a order. He took a kids meal back from a table who ordered after us and got there food first because of a mistake. I believe he used the French fried from that meal and gave it to my kid. They had the mahi this time around. GF got regular mahi which she thought needed salt and I got blackened which was tasty even without sauce. She got shrimp taco and I got the OG fish. Everything was good. Seemed like it was toddler and baby night inside and they were all pretty tired and cranky. Thats okay - we've been there.
