Recommended by a few friends and they did not disappoint. We we seated right away and ordered off the specials menu. When you can't decide, order a few items and share. We had the Red eye ham Benedict and the cranberry orange curd pancakes. Savory and sweet were our choices. Both arrive quickly and were absolutely delicious. We had a wonderful server "Judy" ask for her if you stop in, she has good suggestions and is very friendly. Worst service ever. Bartender/waitress was racist and rude as she didn't even bother to acknowledge us at all. We understand that we were with a tour guide and she couldn't serve us alcohol but she refused to acknowledge us in any way and then went to the tour guide, who was white (and we are not), spoke to him (but not us), and told him "can tell "them" I'm not going to serve them." We were literally sitting a few feet away from him (the tour guide). We understand that she can't serve us but this doesn't mean that she can't even speak or acknowledge our existence. read more

My friend and I were fortunate enough to give Ruby Slipper a try just before the covid-19 madness set in. I'd been hearing great things about it for years, and it was high time. We both enjoyed our lunch. He had what I believe was called the creole Reuben, and I had an impressive plate of strawberry pecan pancakes. Nope, they're not quite on the menu; I had strawberries subbed for bananas. They up-charged me by $2, but it was worth it. Never been a fan of bananas in pancakes as they tend to dominate all other flavors. Strawberries on the other hand provide the perfect pop of freshness. But anyway... these pancakes were huge, and fluffy with a dusting of powdered sugar on top, and since I didn't want the sausages on the side, they gave me taters, which were crisp and tasty. Our server was quick and friendly. Positive experience overall, and I'd happily return, especially with out-of-town guests. read more

Amazing!!! In a city full of incredible food, this place is the very best! My girlfriend and I could decide from all the delicious sounding things, so we ordered the Trifecta, the Peaches and Cream pancakes, Fried Green Tomatoes, and the Candied Bacon. When I tell you everything was amazing, I mean EVERYTHING!!!! The pancakes were the best pancakes either of us have ever had, and my girl is a pancake connoisseur. Second time back and wasn't AS happy. Still good, great menu and prices and nice family friendly ambiance but the server got our sweet teas mixed up with plain iced tea every time and didn't check in on us much. Im a local. I finally tried them. The food was bland and boring. My daughter had French toast and bacon with a side of fruit. I had the hot smoked salmon omelette with a side of grits with cheese and bacon. And one pancake. We ordered fried green tomatoes also. My daughter said the French toast tasted just like a skinny version of Ihops and her bacon was like pure sandy fried pork fat. The smoked salmon omelette was tasteless. And salmon tasted like it was one of those tuna packages from chicken of the sea. And way too much of the cream sauce. The salad was the freshest thing on my plate. I never received my grits and my daughter was dead on about the bacon. The fried green tomatoes were just that .fried and green with a sauce and salad topping. No taste at all . The pancake was too dense and felt like peanut butter in our mouths. We also order and ice tea and ice coffee the iced tea was ok just watered down the coffee was great. Our server was very nice she came to our table a lot and made sure we was ok and refilled the ice tea . The ambiance is just laid back and calm. You can go in jeans and a t-shirt. Such a nice final brunch in New Orleans. The location is beautiful and not as crowded as the French quarter. Very nice for walking and exploring local stores for tourists. Our waiter was a super helpful and nice young man. I wish I remembered his name because he was very kind and one of the very few people working at the time. Husband and I ordered fried chicken French toast and the mix and match eggs Benedict. I was talked into having the crawfish Benedict, which wasn't my personal favorite but I'm glad I tried. The cold brew was nice here too. Hard to find coffee I like on my trip but this did the trick. Would definitely come back to try more on the menu next time I come to NO. My only regret was not having mimosas, but mama had to catch a flight read more

I wish I could accurately rate this restaurant but I never got the chance to eat. Our party of 4 were added to the waitlist at 10:45am and are now leaving at 1:05pm having NEVER BEEN SAT. The hostess was awful and adjusting people's wait times, lying to them, etc. I asked the hostess at 12:15pm how much longer he thought the wait would be, after being told only 15-20 min longer 35 minutes prior to asking this question. He responded, "about 40 minutes." Usually wait times get shorter as time moves on, but not at this Ruby Slipper. We thought we'd pass some time by getting drinks at the bar. We ordered a water, 1 vanilla spice latte, and 2 ruby mimosas (with pomegranate juice). We received none of the above. We received 2 regular mimosas if you can call it that. Orange juice would be a better name. No water. No latte. There's also 3 waitlists the hostess told me...a call waitlist, a pre-scheduled waitlist, and a reservation waitlist (even though they don't take reservations). Moreover, the bus girl was working at a snail's pace. My handicapped grandmother could have moved quicker. NO stars would have been a more accurate rating. read more

Food: We stopped in here for a quick lunch bite and ended up going to TOWN on the food. I got the Eggs Cochon which were tasty eggs Benedict with this delicious pork and hollandise sauce. Melt in your mouth good. My mom has the Skinny Migas and my sister ate the Costa Rican breakfast. Both of them LOVED their meal. I was so stuffed after eating here that I couldn't even eat dinner. Venue: A surprisingly spacious restaurant with a bar area. You can also join the wait list on Yelp which is a plus. If you're taking the Hop On Hop Off Bus, this is a great location right across the street from one of the stops, just a few blocks from the Lafeyette Cemetery. read more

I can't put into words how amazing this brunch was. The mimosas were huge and delicious - I've never even actually seen all the flavor options anywhere before. As for the meals I had the chicken and biscuits and my girlfriend had the shrimp boogaloo - we both were perfectly satisfied and ready to take on the day after this. We even took a boozy ice coffee to go which was delicious. I honestly can't get enough of NOLA food but this takes the cake as one of the best. read more

Although it's a chain it's a great place to stop by. We checked in ahead of time online which only had us waiting for about 5 minutes versus waiting in line. Our last mean in NOLA was brunch here and I wasn't disappointed my bf got the fried chicken Benedict and it was soooo good. I got the biscuits and gravy and that was delicious as well. They have plenty of seating and the service was good as well. I'd recommend coming here if you're in the area for some good breakfast! The Ruby Slipper wasn't on our list and was recommended by another local brunch favorite as we had an extra large party (12). They were busy also late Saturday morning and about a 1/2 hour wait estimate ended up being closer to an hour. The Ruby Slipper Mimosas definitely helped as we waited. Excellent & they top it off with a splash of Pomegranate juice that gives it the Ruby color. We ordered a good variety of dishes and all were happy with their meals. Highly recommend the Bananas Foster French toast-a local favorite and amazing. The Chicken St. Charles (Fried Chicken eggs Benedict) was perfect and the 3 little pigs Omelet & Migas didn't disappoint. Again, we didn't plan on Ruby's but ended up here and, besides the longer than communicated wait, all in the party of 12 were very happy! read more

This was delicious! Our server Destiny was so friendly and helpful. I went with a party of six on a Friday around 11 and they said 45 minute wait but we weren't seated until after 12:30. It was really busy but definitely worth the wait. I got the Salmon Avocado Toast and loved it as well as an Irish Iced Coffee. I had my last meal in New Orleans at the Ruby Slipper. I chose to go with the trifecta, which was eggs benedict three ways: fried chicken, apple braised pork, bbq shrimp. All three were amazing and the eggs were poached perfectly. My favorite of the three was the bbq shrimp because of the sauce and a fried green tomato on it. Treat yourself to some amazing food. We were told that the line would be long, but it was literally like a five minute wait. Once we were sat, our server immediately came over to take out drink orders. She was prepared with recommendations upon our asking. As we waited for our drinks we surveyed the players around us and everything looked soooo yummy. It took us little longer than usual to order because everything looked sooooo good. We finally placed our orders and about 15 mins later our door was delivered to our table. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection...giving the perfect amount of yolk over the biscuits and catfish. Fun family friendly breakfast spot with typical breakfast dishes, NOLA classics, and some unique ones as well. Named "The Ruby Slipper" because it came to NOLA after Katrina, and was a reference to The Wizard Of Oz (there's no place like home). I split a pancake dish that consisted of 3 different types of pancakes & an eggs benedict dish that allows you to combine 2 different types of eggs benedicts with one of my friends. The pancakes in the pancake dish were (a rotational special) blueberry blintze pancake, a cinnamon swirl pancake, and a maple pecan pancake. The blueberry blintze and cinnamon swirl pancakes were much better than the maple pecan. The biscuits we combined were pulled pork and fried chicken. Both of these were delicious. 9.5/10 read more

We tried to visit the CBD location but there was a 2-3 hour wait so we called this location and was told there was no wait. We found street parking and were seating soon as we walked in. We ordered the Grilled Fish St Peter but got the sauce on the side. Overall I wasn't a fan of the dish but the grit cakes were really good. Service was friendly and fast. read more

Love this please.... We came here 3 years ago and could not wait to come back. Our server Shanel was amazing. We orders some French toast bites as an appetizer. My kids loved it. I love how this place has a trifecta meal where you can have 3 different types of egg Benedicts. I am always torn on what to order, but at the Ruby Slipper you can have 1 of each type of Benedict, from the fried chicken, slow cooked pork and bayou shrimp. For the kids they had the classic buttermilk pancakes. I wish the syrup was a little more sweeter. The grilled fish St. Peter was surprisingly really good. My aunt ordered it and although we were there for breakfast it was a great meal. I would definitely come back here. I really want to try the red velvet pancake next time. read more

Now the chicken and waffles? THAT was the fun part. The presentation was adorable, with the chicken served alongside the waffle cone-style presentation, and naturally I ended up eating most of his chicken. The chicken was really good, and even though I'm not a huge waffle person, I tried some of the waffle too and enjoyed what I had. It was definitely the more memorable dish at the table. I also really liked the atmosphere. It's cute, bright, and feels made for brunch, so aesthetically they understood the assignment. Overall, there were some execution issues with my sides, especially being served mac & cheese that was cold in the center, but the chicken dishes were good enough that I still enjoyed the experience. It appears that during busy times they allow you to sit first and order from the QR at your table, this is an assumption given the code to order at the table, but the sign at the entry directed folks to the counter to order before sitting. For breakfast, we got the breakfast biscuit which came with eggs, bacon and cheese, and sided it with grits. The breakfast sandwich was solid, eggs were a bit soft and grits were more mealy than we are used to, but I think that may be authenticity of the area more than anything. I opted for the three option omelet with onion, sausage and gouda plus a side of sausage links. The omelet, though odd sounding combination turned out to be solid. Maybe it was my options, but it was decently "one note" in flavor. I tossed a little hot sauce on and that helped. However, while the sausage links were not much to look at, they were tasty, with a nice snap to the casing and meaty inside. To go with our breakfast, I got a cold brew with a splash of almond milk while my partner embraced NOLA and started his day with a bourbon sour. Both of us enjoyed our choices! I am extremely disappointed to have to write this review as a longtime patron of the Ruby Slipper. However, my experience today (3/18) at brunch was deeply upsetting. I have celiac disease, and upon arrival, I immediately informed the waitstaff of my dietary restriction. They provided me with their allergy menu, allowing me to make an informed decision about my meal. I ordered the migas and specifically reminded the server to mark my order as gluten-free. She confirmed this and even noted "no tortillas" on my order, as they are the source of gluten contamination. When my meal arrived, everything appeared fine. However, about halfway through eating, I discovered a fried tortilla mixed into my eggs--at which point I knew I had been glutened. Shortly after, I started experiencing symptoms and had to rush to the restroom. While I was in the restroom, the rest of my party unknowingly asked for the check. When I returned, I informed the server that I had found not one but two tortillas in my meal and was already experiencing a reaction. I wasn't looking for compensation; I simply wanted to inform her so that this mistake wouldn't happen to someone else with a gluten sensitivity. I fully understand that cross-contamination can happen, but this was not cross-contamination--this was direct contamination. Unfortunately, her response was dismissive. She told me that I should have informed her earlier. I then pointed out that my allergy had been clearly noted on the order and that the food runner had even reassured me that the migas were gluten-free. She continued to insist that I should have said something before she printed the check, but my party defended me, explaining that they had asked for the check and boxes while I was in the restroom, unaware of what had happened. I left feeling incredibly disappointed--not just because of the mistake, but because of how the situation was handled. As someone with celiac disease, I rely on restaurants to take food allergies seriously, and I was deeply let down by both the kitchen's mistake and the server's response. I truly hope that Ruby Slipper improves its handling of food allergies in the future to prevent others from experiencing what I did today. read more

While visiting New Orleans, we stopped by around 10 AM to put our names down for a party of 7. Big mistake, and we knew it. The host was so understanding and explained that it'd be about 2 hours and offered to split us into a table of 3 and 4, possibly near each other, since that division may allow us to be seated in 30-45 mins. We politely declined. We had some cocktails at the bar - the Ruby Slipper ($10, orange pomegranate mimosa) tasted more like a standard mimosa but still delicious - and waited. The bartender was also notably friendly and patient. After we learned that half our party went to the wrong Ruby Slipper and would be late, we told the host we'll take the two tables. They were so accommodating, and about 1.5 hours after arriving, we were seated. Three of the four of us opted for the Costa Rican ($12), which was quite satisfying. I didn't realize the crispy plantains were chips as opposed to fried plantains, but I was pleased with the half an avocado on each plate. In a mix of starvation and delicious food, we all licked our plates clean. Also, as someone who requires no less than 3-4 cups of coffee in the morning to get my day started, our waitress was very attentive and generously refilled our waters and coffees throughout the meal. Our friends for the other table arrived, and I tried the Salmon Benedict, which was rich and flavorful - definitely not a bad option. This was one of my favorite things about visiting New Orleans, my seat mate on flight in told me to go to Ruby Slippers so we went in for brunch the first morning in town, had the sweetest and downright cute waitress named Aurryana who suggested some amazing things I would have not tried. There were just 2 of us but we ordered food for 4-6 and everything was so very delicious! The iced coffee was so good I crave it a week later! The apple pie beignets were out of this world! Loved the menu where you can order 3 different eggs Benny and every single one was so good I couldn't choose a favorite. We ended up going back the next day and had a different waitress who was also so good but my heart belonged to Aurryana. The chefs put so much love into the food, the bartenders and baristas make the drinks with love, and the employees were all so friendly and kind! I'll always remember my NOLA trip and think fondly about the yummy food at ruby slippers, I can't wait to go back! We have visited New Orleans a number of times. Usually we stay in The Quarter. This time we stayed in The Garden District. A friend recommended this place for brunch and let me tell you that it did not disappoint! It all started when we walked in the door. For our group of 6 it was going to be a 45 minute wait. We decided to order some drinks at the bar. That's when we met Thomas. The guy behind the bar. He was simply amazing. Asked us how many there were and if we would like to sit at the bar instead of waiting. He knew that a group of people where about to leave. We sat down and looked at the menu. It all sounded so good. One ordered the Shrimp Boogaloo Benedict another ordered The Southern Breakfast, The Peacemaker, Costa Rican, Brioche French Toast, and The Southern BLT. Let's just say we all left a little heavier and very much satisfied. Could not have asked for a better experience! We will def be coming back! I typically never write reviews, but this was SO good I had to! My husband and I were greeted by a wonderful host who was very helpful in assisting us in understanding the waitlist. We sat after 30 minutes of waiting, but it was well worth it! Our waitress, Izzy, was so joyful and enthusiastic! She was inventive to our LOADS of questions and answered them patiently and with great responses, unlike some of the other servers at establishments, we have been to. She told me to get the Peacemaker with the Crawfish and Grit cake, and the Chicken St. Charles, and man was she right! My husband is a big guy, so he got the Trifecta which was awesome!! Also, we are typically not day drinkers, but Izzy hyped us up so much, and we both ended up down 4 drinks by the end of the meal. So, we came yesterday and im writing this a bit late.. BUT I had to remember to compliment our server, Aurryana. I came in twice this week (fattie, I know lol) and I had her both times. I even told myself to write a review about her last time I came; but this time really topped it! She has the friendliest, warmest smile and sounds VERY HAPPY to be at work. You don't get that much anymore. Also, sometimes places are hit-or-miss but every single time I've been here, especially the two times this week- the food has been literally freaking amazing! We came here over the weekend to visit Saturday and Sunday and it was absolutely amazing!! The atmosphere, to the host/manager Earl , to our server Jenna, to the food runner and everyone else! The drinks were the watermelon fresher and it was great for the New Orleans heat. Our food was amazing we had the banana foster,beignets and French toast bites as our apps. The food was delicious, a wonderful tour of local specialities with excellent presentation. Each food was well balanced, great textures and flavours. We particularly enjoyed the atmosphere, which was more informal than expected. We visited 3 different locations for the ruby slipper during our trip to New Orleans. The atmosphere at the magazine Street location is laid back and happy. Dom, our server, was fantastic and extremely compassionate and quick. When my order wasn't correct he went out of his way to make my brunch perfect! We stopped at Ruby Slipper during our trip, and unfortunately, it wasn't the best experience. The food quality was underwhelming compared to other spots we've tried, and service fell short. Our waitress even spilled our mimosa flight across the table and onto us, which really set the tone for the visit. While in New Orleans with my mom we stopped off to have brunch here at the Ruby Slipper. This place is definitely hopping all the time the line was running out the door. Amazing! I have had a bad experience at a location a few months ago so was very iffy when this place was suggested by my family. BUT! Our server had purple hair.... Believe her name was Aurryana. She was AMAZING! Very attentive, knew exactly what to Recommend- the Chicken St. Charles (AMAZING!!!!) u have to come here at least just for that!! Food was excellent. If you are looking for something different then what you are used to, this is your place. I had the Spanish omelette and my wife had fried chicken on French toast bites. Her meal has a hint of heat which is definitely different from our normal but it was amazing the flavors. Our server was super sweet and nice (Tommie M.)I would recommend. My partner and I visited Ruby Slipper and were amazed at not only the quality of food, but also the service. We had the Beignets, Crab Cakes and Bread Pudding for dessert with a Mimosa flight.
