I have one tried a few things at Ruby Thai. Every time I eat here, I want to try something different but I can never stray from the mango chicken and bang bang chicken. Sometimes, the fried rice is a bit dry, but it still does the trick. Tried the pad Thai once and it was very saucey, so I stuck with the fried rice. I love that the mango chicken is always so crispy, yet nicely coated with the mango sauce without being overbearing. I also LOVE that each piece of mango chicken is actually CHICKEN (as opposed to Panda Express' orange chicken, which is hard and is sometimes questionable as to where the chicken is). I also have a weak spot for the bang bang chicken. Super burst of flavor, which goes well with the fried rice. Really deserves the name. I've also tried the bang bang shrimp and salted fish, which were also good. Overall, good quality food for the mall food court! Side note: I've been going here a few times, but today, I found out that they removed the bang bang chicken off the menu, which made me very disappointed. I could sit here and eat their grilled chicken all day but I'd probably die. Probably. It's so simple yet so delicious! The basil beef, contrary, was very complicated but also had great flavor. If I am in the mood for Asian food, I will usually eat at Ruby Thai Kitchen because the food is just as tasty as Panda Express, less expensive, and the portions are bigger. They don't give you little scoops like Panda Express. We usually get the 3 item plate. Fried rice, mango chicken (oh so good), and teriyaki chicken.Super tasty and always delicious. Standard mall Thai dishes, but well executed for the price ($8.20 for the full combo as of October 2017). Definitely an upgrade over Panda Express in the same courtyard. The eggplant tofu was decent and flavorful, especially considering that many places do this dish lazily, with flavor not permeating the eggplant and tofu, or with overcooked eggplant. read more

I should have ordered more protein for a 2-entree here! Stumbled upon this place randomly and realized later that it was part of the "hot and new" on yelp. The place seems pretty busy and is in direct competition with Panda Express right adjacent to here. The food was good but portion was a bit on the small side, so I recommend ordering 2 entrees (both with meat) cause I got one side of all vegetables and was a little under satisfied with my meal. They let you sample whatever you want here and there is a LOT more variety than the Japanese place in the corner. I never eat there cause their food options are too limited I think. I've had Ruby Thai more times than I can count, since they are located conveniently close to my work. Being a fast food franchise, I had been to the one in Valley Fair once before, and felt really underwhelmed, but this was different. Food: There are many many dishes, but my go-to is always the Singapore rice noodles, with a single side of mango chicken. The mango chicken is not to be underestimated, and is one of those flavors that you just crave when you think about it. The food is always freshly made, and you constantly see them bring out new batches of the various dishes. Also, let it be known that they give HUGE portions here, which is great if you're starving, and trying to lunch on a budget. Service: The workers here are always super friendly and welcoming. They are a big reason why I choose to go here as opposed to other places in the area. They seem to genuinely enjoy their work, are fast, and because of that I enjoy visiting them. I paid someone to go pick up a box of food for me from this place. I know they have a tendency to barely put any sauce on the mango chicken so half the chicken is completely dry with no sauce. If I wanted chicken nuggets I would go to Mickey D's. So I asked for extra sauce. Literally they gave me less than 1/4 of a teaspoon. Yes, not tablespoon but teaspoon. The cup was a 1/2 ounce cup and it barely covered the bottom. Really sad. But this is was made me the most mad. One of the better places in the Oakridge food court. The prices are decent at $6.99 for a combo 2 plate, which comes with 2 entrees and your choice of rice or noodle. You can substitute for pad thai for an extra 50 cents. The portions are good, they gave me a lot of the entrees, but very little of the pad thai. The pad thai is what you would expect at a food court thai place. It is a bit bland and dry. However, their mango chicken was really flavorful and had a nice crunch to it. Disgusting food. Not fresh and definitely tastes like it just sits there or even left overs that were reheated. Not sure if she was the manager, but the older lady working there is rude and unprofessional. Especially to her own staff. I felt bad for the other two employees that were working there. The line wasn't even long and we felt as if we were being rushed. I didn't even have time to see all the choices. When we paid, the employee who rang us up gave us our receipt and we left. we literally took 3 steps and the manager screams at the top of her lungs and claps her hands hella loud for us to come back. I guess the chip on the card didn't process correctly? Ok that's fine so we go back and give the card again. You can tell she's scolding the employee in another language. This place is actually really good. We have been hunting for good thai since we moved to norcal and this is a wonderful fast food option. I had to make a review. Mango chicken!!! Grilled chicken!!! So good. The samples made me slide right into that line and I've been going every trip to the mall. I really like the yellow noodles too and rice. I'm still on the hunt for good yellow chicken curry but I haven't tried it here. Maybe i will one day if they have it. read more

Solid 5 stars, food is great. The only thing I would do (but this goes for any of the vendors in the food court) is bring your own drinks.
