Not quite as good as Norm's Food failed to impress. My sweetheart and I stopped by for dinner because it was on the way home. He had the BLT. I had the Turkey sandwich. His sandwich was proclaimed too salty and the bread too hard. Mine was pretty ok. Kind of bland. The milk shake was not so chocolatey. I come here a lot and get their curbside delivery. When you arrive for curbside delivery, make sure to give them a call and let you know you're there to pick up your order, or go inside to grab it. The workers are very polite and the vegetables and food are fresh! During the shut down, they had a great deal to cook burgers at home. Recently, I was feeling nostalgic and went to this location with my husband and it was AMAZING!! The clam chowder was delicious, you can get a malt (which is hard to come by these days), and I'm pretty sure the lady sitting across from us ordered a chocolate coke (those who know, know). There is a definite sense of pride in this establishment and you can tell that someone or a few someone's really care about bringing together the highlights of a true diner experience. We had a great experience at this Ruby's location (W. Lincoln, Anaheim, ca.). We walked in with a party of 17, kids and adults. I came here after a tiring and gruesome 10 hour all-nighter shift at Disneyland, and the wait was just not for me. We asked for a table for 8 and was told the wait would be 10-15 minutes but ended up being 30 minutes or so. When we were seated, I saw that a table for 8 was merely occupied by a single employee. The wait for everything seemed a little too long. The wait for water, food, and checks. Our waitress seemed to never be able to remember what the drink orders were and messed up one of the checks as well. I ordered the Super Burger with fries and it did taste good. None of us really complained about our food, just the wait for everything. I really did like the interior though. I've been going to Ruby's for a long time-- whenever I see a Ruby's I know it's a guaranteed good meal. The Anaheim location may be my favorite one. Service is always friendly and quick. I ordered a veggie burger and when the food runner brought it out, he made a few suggestions for next time to make my order even more delicious. Our server was also very attentive and friendly. The food was full of flavor and did not disappoint. Usually I go in and order way too much food, but this time I kept it simple with a veggie burger, fries and a milkshake. It was more than enough. The shakes as always were amazing. From the decor/atmosphere to the service, Ruby's hits all the points perfectly-- I can't find one thing that I don't like about this place. PATIO REVIEW I stopped in for a Saturday lunch date with my fiancé. We realized with COVID just how much we enjoy sitting outside at restaurants.The fresh air really does it for us. Luckily Ruby's has a massive outdoor dining area. Ruby's outside dining patio was not only the cleanest patio we have ever dined in, it also had the greatest atmosphere. We felt as though we were sitting in our own family's patio- great music and great attitudes had by all. The entire restaurant is beautiful inside and out. The owner was walking around talking to patrons, making sure we were given exceptional service. Their hosts did a great job of seating parties at least six feet apart. All of the staff wore masks that matched their personalities, which added to our dining experience. Despite being outside, the grounds were swept and surfaces were wiped. The staff did a great job with cleanliness upkeep throughout our visit. Our drinks were constantly refilled, and our food came out hot and in a timely manner. Did I mention their portions are really filling? I had to take half of my food home with me! Who doesn't love leftovers? Essentially 2 meals for the price of 1. With our Governor shutting down indoor restaurant dining again, we will definitely be back to dine outside, be tended to like family, and to feel "normal" for a brief moment in time. We used to love coming to this Ruby's for breakfast and did so on a regular basis. The staff was fantastic and the food was good. ...but something has changed. The staff is now incompetent and the food is not good at all. On our last visit, the hostess at the front was unfriendly/rude, and the potatoes in my meal were not cooked. We figured it was just a fluke. This time, however, different hostess, but completely incompetent. There were a lot of people waiting for seats, and the place was busy. As we stood and waited, I noticed there were several open, clean booths available. After we had been there about 20 mins, the girl at the front finally got around to filling those tables. We had requested patio seating, but when it came time to seat us, she took another couple who did not request patio to the patio, and then proceeded to talk with other staff at the counter and left us in the front and didn't come back to seat us. We just left. I'm incredibly disappointed since this used to be one of our go-to spots. Good thing Anaheim is being built up so we'll have plenty of other breakfast options to choose from. read more

I had not been in for some time and wanted to take a peak at the patio for a 50s themed bridal shower. LOVE!! Behind the patio is part of the Anaheim Historic district so the view of the homes even fit the retro diner theme. Kayla greeted me with a smile. I asked for a manager. In the meantime Kayla offered to answer any questions and showed me the patio. Valerie came out and was extremely helpful. She gave me Art the managers business card to follow up with. These ladies were wonderful. I decided to stay and have breakfast and Lupe served me at the counter. It was fast, friendly, efficient, and delicious. Solid 3.5 stars for me. $20 for two burgers (cheese is extra), fries, and milkshakes. Check this place out on Mondays when this deal is valid. I'm not sure if I would come back here outside of this deal... I am curious whether the other burgers are much better than the classic which is what comes with the deal. Most of my party noted that the meat was overcooked, borderline dry but I was okay with it. Plenty of milkshake options to choose from. What I did like about the experience is the charm of the decor and the service of the wait staff. I honestly felt like I was transported out of Anaheim and back to the 50's. This rating has nothing to do with the servers here, as their service was great. This rating has to do with abusive power by management and Ruby's Corporate for doing nothing about it. A few weeks ago I dined here on a Sunday morning and I witnessed the manager abusing his power over his staff. His name was Peiter and he was a 40ish, fit, with reading glasses. I witnessed a waitress standing behind the bar with her back to the customers seated, arranging food on a tray coming from the kitchen. The manager Peiter went and stood behind her preventing her from moving and forcefully remove her cardigan from her apron. He did not ask if he could touch her, he did not ask her to do it herself, her just did it. I have worked in food service and there is no law banning cardigans from being tucked into an apron. So my only conclusion of his reasoning in doing this, especially in the forceful restraining manner, is because he was a male supervisor displaying his dominance over a subordinate woman. I wish I could say this was this was the end of his abusive power tactics but I cannot. About 15 minutes later I watched Peiter grab condiments caddies from under the bar and place them on the bar. He then called the entire serving staff to him. He then admonished them for their lack cleanliness by leaving out the caddies. I was horrified at this and wondered if that's what he does in front of customers, what does he do behind doors. I immediately notified Ruby's corporate about this and requested they confirm that they got my complaint. It's been three weeks and I haven't heard from them. I will no longer eat at any Ruby's diners and I will tell all my friends to not either. read more

My wife and I normally like Ruby's diner, but we had a bad experience at this location. My wife ordered Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was lumpy and broken and the side of home fry potatoes were hard. My cinnamon fresh toast combo was so disappointing too. The inside of the french toast super dry and almost stale-like. The bacon side was exceedingly greasy, dry, and leathery, a sure sign it had been reheated in the deep fryer. This also sapped the bacon flavor right out of the bacon. Gross! That all said, here is something to think about. On their menu, they claim their fries are cooked in cholesterol free pure vegetable oil. Well, if they are reheating bacon in the deep fryer, imagine all that bacon grease mixed in. So much for cholesterol free vegetable oil. read more

They changed how they make the Roasted Turkey & Cranberry on a Ruby Roll. We have been ordering this from this location 2 to 3 times a month and use the same name and number. My husband brings it home our food when he opens his the container it's wheat bread with bacon and cheese and cranberry, Turkey lettuce and tomato and the bread was soaked you could not pick it up. We called spoke to a waitress she said oh we changed the menu. We did not receive a sorry or we can give you a refund. The Roll is what makes this sandwich good. We now go to Whittier Ruby's' they have not changed their menu and are happy to have our business. Anaheim has lost a valuable customer !!! read more

But what really made our experience here great and made me write this review was our service. A waiter named Sergio helped us out, he gave such great service and checked up on us constantly. I myself work in the restaurant field and pay close attention to the service when I dine out. Sergio provided us with the best service I've gotten in a very long time or I think he might be the best server I've gotten anywhere. Hope the manager or owner reads this. I used to love this Ruby's. However this time, the shakes were runny, and when I mentioned it, the manager barely gave an apology, and said, "well , maybe next time you come, they'll be better." There will NOT be a "next time." Also, the burgers were thin and very over-cooked. Update: after I wrote to corporate, I received a phone call.
