I and a friend stopped by Thursday afternoon to eat before going to a Bible study. He ordered a burger and I ordered a bowl of chili which was delicious. I opted for the Chinese chicken salad. I know who goes to Rubys and orders a salad.lol My salad had a lot of chicken strips and the dressing was tasty. I've been coming here on Friday nights for the car show and they do give you a discount if your with the show. Like the other Ruby's the food is okay , I've had the Rudy melt that I've enjoyed. The melt was served with fries and a lot of them . Overall it was good. I've also had the Ruby club. The club was served on a French roll. I really like club sandwiches and i didn't enjoy it on a roll. So the club sandwich was a little disappointing. The service was a little slow but we were there just after they opened back up. Over 20 minutes pass by and not one person approached us to order food or drinks. A busser cleaned up the table next to us & a waiter and assuming the manager approached the the door to look outside multiple times but didn't acknowledge us at all. After 30 minutes we decided to place an order online. We told the hostess up front that no one has asked us for an order and that we placed an online order. She was apologetic. 30 more minutes of sitting in the outside patio after ordering online the hostess brought our food but still no acknowledgment from other staff. Back in it's hay day, Ruby's Diner was a great place to bring the family or on a date. Today you could hear the crickets. On this visit at the lunch hour rush, there were two other customers in the whole restaurant. The good old stand by Hambuger was so sad looking. The fries were so over cooked. Had the limited time peppermint shake. Shake was good but spent so much time taking out the peppermint pieces as I do not want to swallow the pieces whole. So sad. I have been going to this particular Ruby's for several years because it is close to home, but today is the last time. My daughter and I had lunch at Ruby's today. We arrived around 11:30 and were seated right away.....the place wasn't busy. When the host took us to our table I noticed there were a lot of dirty tables. Our server, Guadalupe arrived and took our drink order. He then returned with our drinks in paper cups. I was puzzled because I thought restaurants had moved off rom that. If I wanted to order take out.....I'd order take out. We then ordered our food. My daughter ordered the Ruby Burger and I ordered the De "Lite" Ful Turkey Burger. A few minutes later our food arrived and mine was on a paper plate. My daughter's came in the more traditional basket that I was used to from Ruby's. I felt like my burger was just thrown on a plate with lettuce dumped next to it. Looking at some of my fellow diners, all of their food was served on paper plates with pre-packaged utensils. This Ruby's Diner is a diner with a 1940's decor flare with their red-white cute uniforms. They have the friendliest staff. Is located in the Whittwood shopping center and we have been here several times over the years. We came in for Father's Day, as you could imagine it was really busy. Were lucky and were seated pretty quickly. My favorite part is that they served breakfast all day and we love their shakes. Dad ordered the Shrimp & Fries which is crispy fry served with fries and coleslaw. Mom ordered the Ruby' Buttermilk hot cakes-pancakes with a side of fresh fruit. I enjoyed my breakfast which was the Veggie omelet w a side of fruit. Honesty everything we ordered was delicious! The service and was exceptionally great specially on such a busy day! Not sure why, but it always feels deserted in here. But the food is really great and the atmosphere is fun, as all Ruby's are! On some occasions, the wait staff seem kinda bored. Ho humming their way through their job. However, you will be pleasantly surprised should you get a server who is outstanding! There are a few of them at this Ruby's. I'm gonna go ahead and give a HUGE shout-out to the manager, Crystal!! She's darling! And another amazing one would be that beautiful Monique! She goes above and beyond to make us always feel welcome. Both ladies are superb!! One thing I love about Ruby's is that you get to keep the "leftover" shake to finish once you drink all the stuff they put in the glass. Burgers are really great with soft brioche type buns. The sandwiches all seem like homemade too. A lot of the Ruby's locations are in amazing spots, namely the Southern California piers and beaches. This one overlooks a mall, a parking lot and is near the gym. Not as interesting as the others, but I think the service at this location far outweighs the others!! On a whim passing by we finally decided to stop by for lunch. We have often said we wanted to try it and this time we did! I was in the mood for a salad and lucky me, they had the apple pecan salad with spring mix and I added grilled chicken breast, it came with raspberry vinaigrette that hit the spot. This is where I get my favorite Turkey Sandwich. It's on a Ruby roll with cranberry sauce. It's delicious. I love the fish and chips. They have sweet potato fries too. I think everyone should try it at least once They are very fast when you order out. The Ruby's in Anaheim changed the Ruby roll for regular bread and it tastes horrible. Fills you up and cooked right with no dryness to the patty. What is new is the sweet potato fries that weren't an option last time we were here. Walked in to an empty restaurant about 3:30pm Saturday. Seemed a little iffy at first because no one was there. We were seated right away. Decor is vintage and very clean and tasteful. Suddenly about 8 different people showed up, not together. One server on hand and he handled everything like a champ. I had the tuna melt and fries and husband ordered burger and fries and we both ordered a shakes - chocolate for me, strawberry for him.
