We've been to the two previous Rudy's locations and were sad when the downtown location closed, so we were very excited to have an anniversary dinner here. And it absolutely did not disappoint. I had the prime rib, baked potato, caesar salad, and a piece of cheesecake to go. My wife had the crabcakes, baked potato, and a house salad. Everything was outstanding. It's not cheap, that's for sure, but it was worth it. I ordered the 10oz prime rib but what they brought out was way more than 10 ounces. I was able to take a pretty large piece of it home. Caesar salad was one of the best I've had, and I'm not a big crab person but the bite of crabcake I tried was really good. Being right on the golf course is really cool, just a great backdrop. You are in the same room as the bar, so be prepared to have some dudebros loudly talking about golf throughout your meal, but it wasn't bad at all. I hope they're around at this new location for a long while. It's not the kind of place we're going to go on the regular, but for a special occasion it's great. read more

Great experience at Rudys. Its at the golf course so its slightly less than fine dining in terms of decor and attire, however the food is on par, no pun intended. Nonetheless, the interior is nicely decorated and the wait staff was real good. You have a view of the lush golf course out the large back windows. The 12oz filet mignon was excellent as well as the salad, baked potato and marionberry blackberry cobbler. The filet was $75, the dessert was $12 and mixed drinks were in the $10-$15 range. On the higher side for the filet but it was on point!! Salem needed a place like this and for special occasions I will be back for a treat. read more

Rudy's Greenside Steakhouse has a fantastic atmosphere and the staff is genuinely quaint. While we were never quite sure who our primary server was because so many people stopped by to help us, the team was incredibly kind and made us feel welcome. Customer service alone exceeds many other restaurants. Upon walking in we noticed that although no other tables were seated and multiple staff members were present, a dirty table remained unbussed for a significant amount of time. It did not necessarily ruin the experience, but it was a curious detail for an otherwise pleasant environment. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The steak fries were absolute perfection and should never be changed, but the brussels sprouts were quite mushy when they really should have been crispy. The bar program is where we found our biggest complaints. It feels like the cocktail menu would benefit greatly from consultation with a professional mixologist. The gin drink was served in a short glass with crushed ice and finely ground greens, which resulted in a mouth full of debris with every sip. This specific drink would be much more successful in a tall glass with larger ice cubes, a straw, and a more substantial garnish like a cucumber slice. Additionally, the marionberry margarita was far too sugary and lacked the tart or bitter elements needed to balance the sweetness or the alcohol. The Bourbon Bliss was fine, but the overall drink execution felt unbalanced. Rudy's has a great vibe and all the necessary tools to be something special, but the potential currently feels unmet. There is so much room to grow here and we hope to see these refinements made because the foundation is certainly there. read more

We had dinner here last night. The view of the golf course is spectacular. Appetizers were great, crab cakes are highly recommended. Dinner and wine couldn't have been better. The steak was grilled to perfection. Everyone of the staff were super friendly and made sure we had a great experience. This may be the best restaurant in Salem. A definite do again! read more

Unfortunately, I do not recommend dining here. We made reservations for our anniversary. When we arrived the hostesses were flustered and said our reservation was canceled. They promptly solved the issue and seated us which was great. Sadly the dining experience continued to decline. I ordered a cocktail. It was so sour and not balanced. For dinner I ordered the steak bites. I was surprised to find that they came with no sides. I paid for a side salad and it was the worst salad I have ever been served at a restaurant. So dry and so bland. Barely any dressing. When my steak bites arrived they were the wrong order. I asked for the Sante Fe bites and they delivered the teriyaki bites. The server did eventually bring out the correct order but unless you like tough steak (nearly jerky) I do not recommend. Overall I was very disappointed. read more

July 11 we had reservations for 10 to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday. His birthday was noted when I made the reservation. The gentleman who served us was anything but cordial. He did not smile once and spoke just barely loud enough to hear him. I told my son I would not like to meet him down a dark alley. He looked so angry. He had no sense of humor and seemed to find it with a disgusted look. He remained stoick the entire evening. I reminded him it was my husband's birthday and his response was, "oh happy birthday". He did however speak up when it was time to remind us there was a 20% gratuity as there was more than 6 people, like we did not know. The other servers around us we happy, laughing and having fun. He seems to dislike people. Maybe serving the public isn't his forte'. The food was excellent with the exception of the birthday boy's steak. It was so tough he couldn't chew it. Under the circumstances he didn't want to deal with the cranky server. read more

It was sad to see Rudy's go down because of one person, so I'm glad to see this Salem classic being revived under new ownership. Many of the old recipes and menu items remain the same, and tasted great. They are starting out small now and will expand slowly. But I can see everyone (long-time workers from both Rudy's and golf clubhouse) being very motivated to create the next new chapter. read more

We dined at Rudy's Greenside last Tuesday. We were warmly greeted. Outstanding table side service. Everything was wonderful. The cocktails were just right. The meals were delicious. The fork tender filet mignon was perfectly cooked. Dessert was crème brûlée. It was the best I've had in my life. Rudy's downtown was good but Rudy's Greenside takes it up a notch or two. We were surprisingly disappointed with this place. We had never been to the original Rudys (we heard things about the owner because we work in restaurants, so we were never interested in going). But we were excited to try it under new ownership. We came last night (6/3) for my partner's birthday, which was referenced on our reservation. When we walked in, I said hello to the host, she didn't say hi back, just said she needed a minute to see if our server was ready. No smile. Very snooty and cold. Our server was nice, but he forgot our order and had to come back and ask us what it was after we finished our appetizer. It was awkward. At that point, you need to write orders down. The table next to us complained to the server that underneath the table was dirty. Sure enough, most of the tables underneath were very gross. Crumbs, pieces of bread. And there were cobwebs in the windows. The website said they purchased the old Rudy's recipes. But I'm confused about what they purchased? -crab appetizer was stringy and fishy, lobster sauce was sour tasting -my partner's filet was ordered mid-rare, received mid-well, no seasoning -mashed potatoes were literally just boiled and mashed yellow potatoes, no seasoning -green beans only had butter, but no other seasoning -lobster sauce on my salmon was gross, scraped it off, salmon wasn't seasoned So exactly what "recipes" were purchased? Overall, we spent $190 for bad food and bad vibes. Lastly, no one mentioned the birthday or acknowledged it. The host took our drinks off of the table as we were boxing up without asking if we were done with our drinks. The whole experience was weird and disappointing. If you want some good high-end food, I recommend Cozy Taberna downtown or go up to Portland to Ringside Steakhouse. Way better service and food. read more
